Hare Krishna!
Today being Sunday some of you are not chanting but that is an every Sunday story. We have repeated that several times. But some are resting but those who are chanting are not resting. You are active. You are making a so called holiday into holy day – chanting the holy names in association of a holy man. Certainly you will become holy, fully holy. I congratulate you all. And I am pleased, Lord is pleased The whole Parampara is pleased with your chanting.

Some of you are continuing the holy name festival spirit. It’s good and it’s welcome. Why stop? It’s the World Holy Name Festival so, I will quickly say that our Tulsi puja Mataji from Dubai, originally they are from Bharatvarsha ended up in Dubai. She organised 12 hour kirtan non stop kirtan in which 50- 60 devotees participated. This was also the time of her birthday. Happy Birthday to you! We are happy with Tulsi puja for organising non stop kirtan at her place and we all wish you happy birthday. You could all chant one maha-mantra for Tulsi puja Mataji. You could chant with me:

Also I think we mentioned this yesterday. We could repeat in Yavatmal that many Matajis have gathered and they are having a Japa Retreat and
Jayabhadra Mataji from Amravati has travelled all the way from Amravati to Yavatmal. She organised the Japa Retreat for the ladies and some 20-30 ladies are gathering in this event for 3 days and she is also organising ISKCON Girls Forum program for Young girls in the evening. So this is to promote the glories of the holy name. We are very, very happy with this endeavour.

And of course Sacidananda Prabhu is continuing his retreat at Govardhan Vrindavan and around 300 devotees have gathered there. I don’t know all the details, but they are learning the art and science of developing love for the Lord or addressing the Lord from the core of the heart with feelings, crying for Krsna. The theme of the retreat is a pretty serious business activity and I am happy that Sacidananda Prabhu is organising that event. It’s still on, This is it’s last day. Also in glorification of the holy name. Serve the holy name, establishing the holy name is the dharma of this age of Kali. So we are very pleased with this endeavour. You have to express your happiness by saying
Hari Haribol!

You all have to take responsibility for the propagation of the holy name, be responsible by first chanting yourself . You could chant your own japa first then you could see how family members, your relatives, your friends, your neighbours, your colleagues can take to chanting the holy name of the Lord or even some brand new people jare dekho tare kaho krsna updesh or all those you come in contact with or interact with. You could also appeal to them to chant or explain to them how to chant or make sure that they are chanting. Take some responsibility for this for your own chanting and you also have obligation towards the propagation of the holy name.

So this is not only the responsibility of the Governing Body Commission or responsibility of only temple president or only temple management to spread and propagate the holy name of the Lord. On behalf of Governing Body Commission, on behalf of temple President, on behalf of the Temple Management, on behalf of your spiritual masters, you have to take this responsibility and of course on behalf of Gauranga Mahaprabhu. He is the One who has instructed all His followers to jare dekho tare kaho krsna updesh and bolo krsna bhajo krsna koro krsna-siksha. So this instruction the Lord has given to all of us and then Srila Prabhupada has organised this Society for Krishna Consciousness. We should all in an organised fashion with a definite strategy should proceed to propagate the holy name. We always have to remember what is this. When we say propagation preaching propagation of the holy name. This is propagation of Krsna.

We are sharing Krsna with them. We are sharing the merciful and all powerful and all beautiful Lord with them and this is the need of the whole world. This is what will satisfy each entity, each jiva. There is nothing else. Nothing better than Krsna that will make peace, bring satisfaction and make people happy and content. It is a big thing. It is not some sectarian or light thing. Take some responsibility to do this. Share Krsna in the form of the holy name.

We just received news from Noida that devotees are acting responsible.

ISKCON Noida is organising Padayatra. Padayatra is starting today from ISKCON Noida. They will walk for 15 days visiting dozens of towns and
villages before they reached Vrindavan just on time for the beginning of Vraja-mandala Parikrama, the beginning of the month of Damodar. So ISKCON Noida has taken this responsibility for propagating. They are starting this program for propagating the holy name of the Lord. So this is quite exemplary.

Tulsi that’s a responsible act, Sacidananda Prabhu is acting in a very responsible manner and so is Jayabhadra. So keep taking more and more responsibility to share Krsna, Krishna consciousness with all around you, people everywhere.

Of course when we say propagate the holy name along with that we distribute Srila Prabhupada’s books. We distribute prasada. We sometimes
organise some cultural events, some festivals. So many activities are there , but the holy name is in the centre. Krsna is in the centre. So along with the propagation of the holy name, book distribution, prasada distribution also happens festival organisation. It’s a complete package.

Like that we wind up our japa talk. There is lot to do so get into action. Practice and propagate the chanting the holy names of the Lord to make ourselves Krishna conscious and rest of the world Krishna Conscious.

CRY FOR KRSNA!!

We have 442 devotees chanting with us today. In Yavatmal in Maharashtra one Mataji is chanting with 25 other Matajis. I am very happy seeing this. Also this being Saturday devotees in Melbourne, Australia get together. I think they must have assembled in Prabhupada quarters in Australia so they are also with us. Also there is a special mention of the other devotees who have assembled in Vrindavan. Few hundred devotees have assembled in Sacidananda Prabhu’s retreat. They are also chanting. They are going to chant 64 rounds today, that’s their target. Then they will end up crying for Krisna, end up or during chanting? Let’s see whether they can achieve that.

Devotees have assembled in Govardhan for Japa retreat, they have termed it as ‘Crying for Krsna’. I was thinking devotees should get together. I am encouraging gatherings of my disciples in Mayapur, Vrindavan, Mauritius, Melbourne , South Africa at various places. We have formed different groups basically consisting of my disciples. We have formed disciple care communication committees. They should get together not that they are not getting together now but those who are not coming together they should have such meetings. So you get together every month or week. This also could be the subject matter of discussion and that is chanting. Chanting should be the theme. Crying for Krsna. Devotees in Mauritius get together and they discuss ‘How could we cry for Krsna’? Oh! When that day will be mine when I will cry
for Krsna’. Where are you Krsna?

This zoom conference that we have been conducting is also a Japa retreat, japotsava – festival of chanting. Whenever we get together you can discuss further what you have understood. As we get together and chant what you have, or haven’t understood or your realisations. You can raise some questions. You also raise certain questions here and I answer that. But during your meetings that should be the topic of discussion. Crying for Krsna should be as a result of the chanting. . Offense less chanting, pure chanting,suddha nama japa. ‘ prem-japa’ or prem-kirtana. This is crying for Krsna. How to achieve that? We do discuss that to encourage the people on
a regular basis whenever you get together with your counsellors or with the group of devotees or disciples or in your temple or in your town. There could be more discussion when you get together in your temple, in your country.

Chanting is crying. Chanting is prem. Srila Prabhupada did mention that our chanting is crying. We should be crying like a baby. That’s the goal or target. That’s the perfection. That is ‘Mantra-siddhi’ – perfection of chanting. What is perfection of chanting? We start chanting at the level of faith. Then we have to evolve from sraddha to prem. We have to evolve from sraddha to sadhusanga, bhajan kriya, anartha nivrutti, nistha, ruci, aasakti, bhava, and finally Krsna prem. Crying is going to happen at the level of bhava or prema.

santah sadaiva hrdayez su vilokayanti
yam syamasundaram acintya-guna-svarupam
govindam adi-purusam tam aham bhajami

“I worship the primeval Lord, Govinda, who is always seen by the devotee whose eyes are anointed with the pulp of love. He is seen in His eternal form of Syamasundara, situated within the heart of the devotee.” ( Brahma-samhita 5.38)

This is the statement in the Brahma-samhita by Lord Brahma. Such darsana is possible for that person whose eyes are anointed or decorated
with premanjan or tears of love. That is crying. The intensity with which it comes. There are torrents of tears. Caitanya Mahaprabhu had prem .
nayanam galad asru dharaya
vadanam gadgada rudhaya gira
pulakair nicitam vapuh kada
tava nam grahane bhavisyati

Translation:
O My Lord, when will my eyes be decorated with tears of love flowing consulantly when I chant Your holy name? When will my voice choke up,
when will the hairs me my body stand on the end at the recitation of your name. (Siksastakam Verse 6)

A person in that state of mind. Crying is state of our mind. When he is crying that is perfection. Crying is expression also of thinking, feeling, willing. I feel like crying. Sometimes you feel like crying.

Such perfection is not going to be achieved overnight. Rome was not built in a day as they say. Practice makes a man perfect. The state of mind when you feel like crying is perfection and it is not going to be achieved without practice. It will take practice of chanting attentively day after day, months after months, years after years chanting and attentively making all the endeavours.

Sometimes there will be success or failure. But with great patience we have to go on endeavouring, so one day or one of these lifetimes, we will be crying for Krsna. Crying for Krsna is not a cheap thing.

Crying for Krsna is such a title, which means loving Krsna or praying to Krsna .We love Krsna. We love God. Crying is one thing or crying is one of the symptoms . There are 8 different symptoms – asta-sattvic vikara. Caitanya Mahaprabhu explained nayanam galad asru dharaya that’s one – crying or shedding tears. vadanam gadgada rudhaya gira- , choking of voice, pulakair nicitam vapuh kada/ tava nam grahane bhavisyati – trembling of the body. Or Mahaprabhu Kirtana

mahaprabhoh kirtana-nrtya-gita-
vaditra-madyan-manaso rasena
romanca -kampasru-taranga-bhajo
vande guroh sri-caranaravindam

Translation:
Chanting the holy name, dancing in ecstasy, singing, and playing musical instruments, the spiritual master is always gladdened by the sankirtana movement of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Because he is relishing the mellows of pure devotion within his mind, sometimes his hair stands on end, he feels quivering in his body, and tears flow from his eyes like waves. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master (Sri Gurvastakam Verse 2)

We sing in Gurvastakam that there is romanca or hair standing on the ends. Why single out the crying? When am I going to cry or when am I I going to love. Love is again a big, very deep topic. We should not take it lightly. Sahajiyas are very expert in crying for Krsna. Sahajiyas are sahaj. They take crying for Krsna very cheaply. They do an exhibition of their crying. One should not be shedding tears immaturely. When we advance in Krishna consciousness , we attain a certain maturity in Krishna consciousness then there will be crying. Crying is a feeling, it’s a state of mind in which we are expected to achieve love of God. Not like sahajiyas. It is said, ‘Easy to cry and easy to dry.’ One may do whole a exhibition of crying. One may feel I am such an exalted devotee now, with this symptom and that symptom. That
is deceiving others, aie dusta mana tumi kiser vaisnav O wicked chanter , what kind of Vaisnav are you? Bhaktivinoda Thakur said like that. Sahajiyas feel others will be impressed by such crying.

I have to stop as I have Bhagavatam class in Nagpur temple. We should be honest and do introspection, do atma-parikshan and find where we stand and try to go to the next higher level . Starting from sraddha. We should be crying – Oh! I don’t have faith. Crying for not having faith. At the level of sadhu sanga one should have feelings that I am so busy, can’t go to Sunday Festival. At the level of anartha nivritti means look at the state of my bhajan? I am not able to chant 16 rounds properly. I don’t have attraction for chanting.

One could also cry like this. That is also crying for Krsna. You should be crying – when can I chant my sixteen rounds properly? I am such an ayaram- gayaram . I have no attraction for chanting of the holy names of the Lord.

Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, “I have no attachment for You Oh My Lord. I have no attraction for You.” Like that also one can cry. This is also crying for Krsna. Look at me, no faith, look at me I don’t get any association, look at my and anarthas

There are so many anarthas that I have. When will I get rid of them. This is also honest crying. You could be praying like that. You have to keep your goal in mind. You have to do first thing first. Sraddha is first then there could be sadhu sanga. Sadhu sang can be the first level for someone. Anartha nivritti, becoming free from anarthas can be first stage for you. For different folks it will be different depending on where you stand. You should be crying – how can I go higher so that ultimately I will have bhava, emotion, feeling, prema.

Such crying will be more honest. There will be rolling on the ground. Ultimate objective is Premamayi service.

TIME TO CONCENTRATE ON THE QUALITY OF OUR CHANTING.

We are getting the whole world to chat, in different forums , different gatherings, in our own gathering here in zoom conference. I think we should be concentrating and working now on reviving our numbers. We had the prerogative of having almost 700 participants. Now we are only 460 so we should do some homework. All of you and all of us have to do it together, to work on increasing the number of participants at this conference. Padmamali Prabhu is giving you the target of 700 participants. Some of you are still in the festive mood, WHNF mood. They are still sending the reports and scores, some of you are doing that. That’s nice. Some of you are giving your own personal scores of chanting more than 16 rounds. That’s welcome. Minimum is 16 rounds, but the more the merrier. You may report or not report, but more chanting is always welcome. ISKCON Noida is reporting 10 top scores of Harinama bank in their report. There is this Harinama Bank. You could read. But you have to, I may remind you , send all your reports two world holy name conference. Yesterday we were showing the link and for the scores. So take note of that and send all your reports there. The right destination is world holy name conference.

I was thinking during the month of December there is book marathon and devotees do extra effort to distribute books. Not that they don’t distribute books in other months. Books are to be distributed every month, everyday, but we distribute more books during marathon time. So likewise we make extra effort of spreading the holy name, get more and more new people, your relatives, friends, neighbours, school children, new devotees new people in the park, get them to chant. But it does not mean that throughout the year such attempts should not be made. We continue to some extent as much as we can manage, throughout the year. So keep doing that. There could be a World Holy Name Festival every month, every week ,every day, and the big one the Grand one will be during the actual World Holy Name Festival, official time when Prabhupada arrived in America. This is just a suggestion that all those who took part in World Holy Name Festival for those who were organising things, gather their team members, their groups , and do the review of World Holy Name Festival. Review of how was it. What were the strong points and what were the weak points. What were the challenges. In future we have to do this next year also. So make planning for next year of how to do it. Oh! We couldn’t do this thing this year. Next time for sure we will do this. We will do that. So begin making plans, now itself. Do pre-planning for better success. Plan your festival. For next year make some plans. Some plan not the whole detail plan. So what strategy works and what strategy did not work, like that everywhere you should do you in temple or in bhakti-vriksha, in your own area where you belong. So do the review. Note it down, write it down and preserve the file or minutes of your meeting, resolutions that you will be adopting so that you can find them again for the world Holy Name festival and implement your planning. Work on your resolutions.

While doing marathon we were working on numbers of rounds that you were chanting or you were getting others to chat. That’s why the Harinama bank was also there. Lots of deposits are there. I chanted 64 rounds everyday, and I chanted this many rounds on the first day and so many reports like that. So we have worked on the numbers increasing the quantity and for sure the Lord is pleased. kirtaniya sada hari. Some of you took 22 hours to chant the rounds and chanted 192 rounds. So that’s the quantity you are working on or focusing on the quantity. That’s also welcome. More the merrier as we said.

At the same time the quality is also equally important if not more important than the quantity or numbers. So you could and others also now concentrate on the qualitative chanting. So always do attentive chanting, offence less chanting. Chanting is of three kinds or three phases or stages as explained in the book ‘ Nectar of devotion’. Offensive chanting, clearance stage, and offence less chanting. So we have to make progress, attempt committing less or no offences. Minimise offences. That is then the clearing stage of offences.

Then there is ruci and then offence less chanting. Out of all these, our goal is to reach at offence less chanting or prem Harinama.
So work on that. You could get together with your team, your friends and discuss the topic. Discuss the topic of chanting without offences. Or how can I achieve this, so that I can chat without offences. Or meditative chanting.

Lovingly chanting the holy name of the Lord, so that can become the topic of our discussion. There is a report that devotees are gathering at Syamalangi Mataji’s place and she is also going to serve prasada. So like that there could be gatherings this way. You can have a Japa session like this or it can be separate one, during the day or weekdays or holidays. Get together and discuss how to improve your chanting. How to improve and do quality chanting. How to evolve, improve and chant offencelessly. Counsellors can get together and discuss this topic how to improve the chanting. I am happy to announce that Sacidananda Prabhu has gathered many devotees for his seminar. They are gathering together at the foothill of Govardhan. Beginning from today it will go on for several days. He will be talking and others will listen. Sacidananda Prabhu who is sitting right next to me. He will be talking on ‘Crying for Krsna’.

It’s a big topic. They are going to learn how to cry for Krsna crash course. So for sure that gathering topic is how to chant better, with attention, feelings, when we are calling out to the Lord. When you are calling out it’s not easy.

That’s not the first thing you should be learning. There are other things also. But the ultimate stage is how to cry for Krsna. So some attempts are being done, to discuss to improve chanting or chanting with feelings. So we will also make like that for a few days. The purpose of this conference, is to improve our chanting, how to chant better, chant lovingly attentively. so next few days we will make some attempt, of ‘Crying for Krsna’, during this conference.

I am in Vrindavan and I have Bhagavatam class today , and before that I will be going for Srila Prabhupada Guru puja.

GLORIES OF WORLD HOLY NAME FESTIVAL.

Kanhaiyalal is reporting from Vrindavana that on Holy Name Festival they did six hours kirtan daily and Bhagavatam classes by Sarvabhauma Prabhu.We welcome all of you chanters! We have received a wonderful report from Vrindavana.

World Holy Name Festival coordination is a global coordination , GBCs have assigned myself, Janananda Maharaja and Ekalavya Prabhu. Then on our behalf there are coordinators in different continents and countries. I cannot share the names of all those and several posts are also vacant for the same. For India Madhavi Gauri Mataji is communication coordinator and she is based in Delhi. We had some kind of state coordinators Padmamali Prabhu was coordinating, World Holy Name communication coordination providing inspiration to Holy Name efforts in the state of Gujarat and well at local level. There are many of them Parthasarathi Prabhu for Solapur, and like that particularly every town. Can’t say village and of course can’t say all the towns, many towns, many villages have coordinators. I personally came to
Vrindavan.

Yesterday evening we had a Grand finale kirtana at Krishna Balaram temple in the courtyard of Krishna Balaram temple in association and assistance of Pancagauda Prabhu, President of the temple.We had kirtana in the courtyard of Krishna Balaram temple with lots of temple devotees and visitors that officially we have concluded the World Holy Name Festival. World Holy Name Mahotsav ki Jai! Padmamali Prabhu has sent a quite an extensive report and then, he says this is not everything and he is gonna report more. Report of each, some six temples of Gujarat, their participation in their Nagar sankirtana, their Padayatras, their 64 rounds kirtanas and this and that, there is so much. This you will have to personally read through. It is quite a Mahabharata long, extensive report.

Final report from all of you, the participants of World Holy Name Festival, either global coordinators or national coordinators, state level coordinators, regional coordinators, local coordinators, you have to compile your reports along with photographs and/or videos and send them to be uploaded on the World Holy Name Festival website. I don’t know the technical ID or access maybe someone could type and explain how they could upload and where to send their reports.

So this could be finally reported to GBCs and ultimately to Pancatattva so all reports whatever has been sent thus far, has been noted. We are not able to. I am not God and you know that, I don’t even remember and I cannot recall or repeat or share all those reports, but be assured that if you have sent the report here it has been noted and we highly appreciate your participation in the World Holy Name Festival and reporting about the festival. Reports are still pouring in, bombarding in, I cannot keep track of this : Mukund Madhav from Hadapsar, Pune. 100 devotees participated in Nagar sankirtana yesterday. In the garden, 150 new devotees chanted. It is Paramatma Prabhu and Caitanya Jivan Prabhu reporting from Jalgaon. And then part of the report is that Ekendra Gaur who chanted 192 rounds yesterday. He was busy 22 hours to complete his 192 rounds. So congratulations, so I think he is, Ekendra Gaur is the top chanter and someone Shrikant Gangul from Ghangur, Bhiwandi near Mumbai was writing something and it wasn’t clear.

He says he chanted 200 rounds but I am not sure, so Ekendra Gaur seems to be the winner chanting 192 rounds. Then Swarupanand is reporting of a rock show in the market, Greater Noida, 300 participants. I mean those who participate are devotees, not necessarily temple devotees or they already are guests. They are visitors. If they chant Hare Krishna they are all devotees. We are all devotees. All the souls are devotees of Krsna. So he said 300 devotees – temple devotees, congregation of devotees and brand new devotee visitors also. Madhavi Gopi from Thane has chanted 32 rounds or something like that everyday. Jahnavi Ganga chanted a lot of rounds. 52 rounds she is also from Thane. We have taken note of your lots of rounds of chanting. Acknowledging and reading last one hour from time to time I am reading Siromani from Baroda and others chanting.

Rohini Jadav is very active in reporting chanting with children. Lots of children chanted because of her. Ojasvini all the way from Russia was chanting 64 rounds every single day, sometimes more than 100. Madhavanandini has chanted extra rounds also from Russia . Who is that from Toronto? Nama Kirtana is originally from Baroda and he is now in Toronto also managed to keep some Nagar sankirtana, going and getting visitors to chant one round in the temple. Srimati Radhika from somewhere chanted 32 rounds. 48 rounds Suchitra Sakhi from Greater Noida. There is also a report from Italy, Nandalal Prabhuji. I saw him. He sent photographs doing the Nagar sankirtana on the streets of Milan.

Nagar sankirtana and report. Solapur Parthasarathi Prabhu wrote a report. It was very well planned like in the Gujarat temples, this temple also organised sankirtana, extra japas, walking every single day with participation of congregation of temple devotees. What I specially made note of was there were no rains in Solapur for some time. People were waiting where are the rains? Please send some rains.

All the farmers, everyone was awaiting, as soon as the devotees started performing World Holy Name Festival in Solapur, in Nagar sankirtana, from nowhere, the clouds appeared in the cloudless sky. Parthasarathi Prabhu writes they were experiencing clouds hanging right above the temple or where the kirtana was performed and soon there was rain. This happened several times whenever they used to start Nagar Kirtana or 24 hours sankirtana. The clouds gather and it rains so they had a realization of yagyatbhavati parajanyo the result of the yagya, the outcome of the yagya, sankirtana yagya also is parjanya, it rains. So this was first hand experience.Sometimes the rains may pour instantly, on the spot or the rains may happen the next day or next month, so the rains are the result of the sankirtana yajna.

Neetu Sharma from Greater Noida chanted. He is just a little boy, just 10 years old and he chanted 24 rounds yesterday and then Hardik Patel from America, originally from Gujarat. Hardik Patel has ended up in America and he bought, some sets of Bhagavatam and was distributing Srimad-Bhagvatam in Atlanta, America.So like that I am sure that there are more reports, I do not remember or also we don’t have so much time to share all those reports. I have a good excuse to say that we have less time, the fact is, I don’t remember because there are so many reports, and I am just overwhelmed and I cannot share all those reports. Ramvijay is writing something. He did nagar kirtana with Mukund Madhav. They say it did not rain while doing kirtana but in Pune also there was rain after doing kirtana and sankirtana. Any other devotees wish to write up quick. Because there is some outstanding report which I missed or was not reported you could do so in a few minutes that are at our disposal. Mahalakshmi is from Shirdhon Maharashtra. 60 devotees did japa.

Mahalakshmi is my disciple from my family, blood relations. So Mahalakshmi did that. Syamalangi is also reporting that Bhakti Vriksha celebrated in Dubai and Bhakti Vaibhav course for one week in Dubai and kids chanted. I missed Jayatirtha from Raichur. 2500 participants in kirtana. I missed the report. So we congratulate Jaytirtha Prabhu on celebrating World Holy Name Festival in Raichur. It is in Karnartaka. Also Vaikuntheshwar from Baroda chanted 64 rounds. Sneha Gupta reports four students did 8 rounds of mala. And Solapur had 30 Harinama kirtanas in these 7 days. Jagannath Gangul says he chanted 200 rounds. It took a lot of time. Then Aradhya Madhavi from Baltimore all the way from America started Japa marathon. It started at 4 am like that and it went on for a long time I suppose. Kirtanas, downtown kirtans also, there
were many kirtans in the temple for three days. Thank you from Aradhya.

Reports are not staying on the screen for long because there is a big push from the bottom or somewhere, so we cannot keep track of the long reports coming in. This 12 hour Harinama by Krishna Nama Prabhu. This must be Beed. This was at Baroda. Kaviraj Goswami did 48 rounds and 1hour Bhagavatam reading.

So I think it is wonderful, great. We did it , not one person could doit. This was participation of all of you from everywhere, not just from India but all over the world devotees participated and the final score from Bangalore 8300 extra rounds chanted besides 16 rounds. More than 8300 rounds were chanted in Bangalore by the devotees. Antaryami Krishna from Shillong, first year in Assam, he also took part in World Holy Name Festival, this was the first time and I hope this is not the last time Thank you Antaryami. 32 rounds everyday last 4 days, and home kirtanas. There is also Neelambari Radha from Russia ,Moscow. So there is no end to this. Devotees from Satara are reporting.

From Latur 14 Nagar Kirtanas, 12 hours non stop kirtana. Radhika 32 rounds. Lalit Mohan 64rounds .Swaha Swaha, all these things taking place in a yagya. My daughter, Amulya can’t talk. She has a talking problem, but she did Japa fluently. Mahadev 48 rounds everyday from Greater Noida. Pandarinath from Sangli Padmamali from Gujarat reports that daily 1lakh people received messages, about Harinam sankirtana. That’s a big report.

Read Bhagavatam at corporates everyday, Lakshminath Prabhu from Bangalore. 32 rounds from Juhu Krishnalok and our Padayatras of course, you know all India Padayatra, Kanpur Padayatra, Maharashtra Padayatra, Tirupati Padayatra. They were on the road everyday. They travel for whole year, but especially during this World Holy Name Festival they made an extra effort to get people to participate in chanting, dancing. We should be remembering them. Those first year Padayatris are under going lots of inconvenience to bring the holy name to more towns and more villages. All glories to the Padayatra devotees.

Pandarinath Prabhu is proudly announcing that his wife Sridevi read Bhagavad-gita four chapters So Sridevi and Radhika Raman from Toronto earlier were in India and went to preach the glories of the holy name to family members. They are in need of the holy name he realised, so he fulfilled the demand. Fulfilled the supply, as there was a demand. Thank you Radhika Raman for the propagation of the holy name. Radhika Raman is in India now.

I think we will read the reports later on and we should stop here , it’s time for greeting the Deities in different temples. And I will make some concluding comments tomorrow about the World Holy Name Festival, on how we could possibly stay high forever and keep spreading and sharing the glories of the holy name with others. Also besides this charity begins at home. Besides, we chant for our own purpose, our own cause and we could keep chanting for others benefit , which is “Paropkar”. LORD IS ATTACHED TO HIS DEVOTEES.
There are devotees chanting in 457 places. Actually, it is due to Srila Prabhupada’s mercy that chanting is happening in still more places.

Hundreds of reports are pouring in from various places on the last day of the World Holy Name Festival. More and more reports are coming. The reports that come tomorrow will be the last and final. I want to declare the reports which I remember. However you are also free to read the reports that come after the Japa sessions. You may also read this report in the World Holy Name Festival website also.

These glorious reports are also the glories of the holy name because all those participants who are chanting are chanters of either japa, or participating in a kirtana mela or doing nagar sankirtana in some street. Wherever those devotees are chanting, those chanters are also glorious. All glories to all those chanters!

Muralimohan Prabhu through this japa conference has reminded us that in ISKCON we distribute the holy name, Prabhupada books and prasada. By doing all these one becomes a worthy ‘paropakari’, doing something good of great benefit for others. The recipients of these three items – the holy name, Prabhupada books and prasada are really greatly benefitted. Those who share these gifts do ‘paro upakar’ and are glorious.

Devotees in Toronto, Canada have sent their reports through the japa conference. World Holy Name Festival was celebrated in Bangladesh. Sankirtana Gaur Prabhu organised sankirtana in Bangladesh, a Muslim country, He says that many Muslim youths had joined the Nagar Sankirtana in Bangladesh. It is glorious.

Devotees in Dubai are glorious. They have a program called ‘Nityam Bhagavata Sevaya’ where devotees assemble to hear Bhagavatam during World Holy Name Festival before they start work. The topics of these Bhagavatam sessions are japa. They are reading from Namamrta and Prabhupada books which has all the quotes of glorious Harinama.

In Bhiwandi devotees are chanting. Srikanth Ganguly chanted 140 rounds and he is still going to chant another 20 rounds today. Gaur Prabhu has taken a vow to chant 192 rounds. I think that is 300,000 holy names. In Bangalore, 200 devotees were chanting extra rounds. So far they have chanted more than 7000 extra rounds. 200 devotees took part to chant extra rounds. And a mataji from Pune, Rohini Jadhav Mataji, chanted and got different children to chant japa also.

From Solapur, Ramalila Mataji is doing Nagar Sankirtana and got as many as 70 Matajis who went into the streets and with their family members. Nandamukhi Mataji from Noida chants 40 rounds daily during World Holy Name Festival. In Jamshedpur Bhadra Revathi Prabhu chants 36 rounds. Madhavi Gauri Mataji from Delhi is the coordinator of the Holy Name festival in India. She does all the communication. We will have to thank her for her efforts for spreading the word around for the World Holy Name festival. She is also reporting that chanting is taking place in remote parts of Africa and Nepal. There is chanting and dancing in Bangladesh. We welcome those reports from those countries. Their japa must be glorified. She will send more reports tomorrow morning.

Neetu Sharma from Noida chanted 20 rounds. Radha Chitta Hari from Noida chanted 22 rounds today. Chakrapani Radha and Yogi chanted 64 rounds. Advaita Acarya and Sita Thakurani chanted and they are gathering lots of people and getting them to chant in various parts of Noida. Even Hari Kirtana Prabhu collected members from his colony and made them chant one round. Everyone is doing their best to glorify the holy name by chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna themselves and getting others to chant. So today is the last day of the World Harinama Festival. If you have not done anything so far, this is the last chance. Today is the last day for your participation. From Melbourne Australia there is a report of Nagar Sankirtana, and book distribution and tonight Bhakti Rasayan Maharaja is going to conduct Nagar Sankirtana in Melbourne, Australia.

Devotees are distributing prasada in the World Holy Name Festival and cooks are also glorious. We are grateful to all those cooks who are cooking prasada for distribution during the World Holy Name Festival. In Gurgaon Nagar Sankirtana was conducted in a new neighbourhood. Let’s stop this reporting part now and I shall share something glorious from Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s antim lila.

One night there was kirtana in Nabadwip, Mayapur at Srivas-angan’s, a famous kirtana sthali. Every night Mahaprabhu would conduct kirtanas. Mahaprabhu gathered only His confidential and pure associates to chant and the whole night Caitanya Mahaprabhu was chanting and dancing. In Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s chanting and dancing, He created the vibrations which are still there, even to this day. That is what is causing us to chant Hare Krishna. Gauranga Mahaprabhu’s chanting is a cause of our chanting – sarva karana karanam. He chanted and He is still chanting and hence we are chanting, We should remember that. Therefore we are part of Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s chanting movement.

This is how Caitanya Mahaprabhu had done mighty kirtana in Srivas angan. So one night during kirtana, Srivas Thakur noticed that there was some kind of disturbance, some cry was heard from the inner chamber of his house. When he went he was shocked to find that his son had died. The ladies were crying. Srivas Thakur wanted these ladies to stop the crying as it could disturb Gauranga in His chanting. This was his preaching to the ladies and his good wife, Malini was
crying as her son (one of their five sons) has died. Srivas Thakur was explaining to the ladies that dying can’t be avoided. ‘Death is surely going to come one of these days. The departure of our son is glorious because kirtana was going on in our house. You all must have heard the chanting of the holy name, that was going on in our angan (courtyard). How glorious is his departure!. There was nothing to worry. Our son has definitely returned to the spiritual world. In that sense this is an occasion for celebration. Our son has gone back to Godhead as he was hearing the holy name before his departure.’

Srivas Thakur also told the ladies that now they have to stop crying. If they do not stop crying, and if he hears them crying again then he will throw himself in the Ganga and leave his body because of the disturbance they will be causing to Gauranga Mahaprabhu’s kirtana. Mahaprabhu and His kirtana party were getting distracted.

After a warning like that Srivas Thakur returned to the kirtana mandali, kirtana party with Gauranga with His associates, The Pancatattva and HIs associates were fully absorbed in the kirtana, forgetting the surroundings. They were in their own world of chanting. Then at some point, the kirtana stopped and Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu came to know that there was some disturbance. He said, ‘I feel there is some difficulty. Something’s wrong.Something’s happened?’ Srivas Thakur was just surprised by His perception and Mahaprabhu’s guess and said, ‘ Yes, You are right.’ Upon enquiring what has happened, He was told that Srivas Thakur’s son had died and in the middle of the kirtana Srivas Thakur had gone inside the house and had stopped the ladies from crying and rejoined the chanting and dancing. He did not give any impression that any calamity had taken place. This was told to Gauranga Mahaprabhu.

This way Caitanya Mahaprabhu realised something and He expressed His realisation. This was great appreciation for Srivas Thakur. He said,’ Just see how Srivas Thakur is attached to the holy name. How much he did. He did not want my kirtana to be disturbed. So he expressed total detachment from his family and children. Especially his son has died and he showed absolute detachment, totally detached because he was totally attached to the holy name and was attached
to Me and so he managed to develop detachment from the family relations social relationship with his son.

So we are supposed to be attached to the holy name and it is a ladder from sraddha to prema so we could see how Srivas Thakur had achieved that, of course that asakti is beyond. I want to say one more thing, that was Mahaprabhu’s statement, ‘Just see how attached our devotees, especially Srivas Thakur, are to me. How could I leave them behind?’ These were Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s words when He was thinking of taking sannyasa. He could not keep His thoughts within Himself. He uttered it, a slip of the tongue. He couldn’t resist. How could He leave such devotees such as Srivas Thakur? ‘Look at him.’ He said. ‘I am taking sannyasa. How can I leave?’ This is the Lord’s statement. The Lord is also equally attached to the devotees who are attached to Him. This we could see in this episode.

Attachment to the Lord is developed by getting attached to the holy name. The names of the Lord, the holy name and the Lord are not different identities. They are one and the same! We shall stop here. Today is the last day. Reminder to all over there to distribute the holy name, prasada and books also and the glories of the holy name. This way you are assisting the Lord.

KIRTANS WILL GO UNOPPOSED!

Welcome all. The entire parampara is blessing you, starting from Brahma, who appeared as Brahma Haridas Thakur and all acaryas are blessing the chanters. I am just conveying those blessings on behalf of the previous Acaryas, including Srila Prabhupada.

You are all blessed that you are getting blessings of the parampara. On the conference today we have 442 participants. We know the world is chanting. More and more new participants are also chanting and also many regular chanters are chanting at different places. Only difference is we are not able to see them on the conference. Everywhere chanting is going on and that gives us joy. Whole parampara is joyful. Gaurang is watching all the chanters. Lots of reporting has happened during the Japa session. Specially devotees have chanted additional number of rounds, from different parts of the world and different parts of India. In Ahmedabad 55 devotees chanted 64 rounds.

Devotees from Bhiwandi and from New Bombay, Ekanath Gangul also chanted 64 rounds. Ramlila Mataji from Solapur reported her daughter in law chanted 32 rounds for the first time. Like that Panchali from Greater Noida chanted 32 rounds and I don’t even remember all the reports. I only said some of them which came to my mind. Someone reported doing 118 rounds. I think that was the biggest score.

Syamalangi Mataji from Dubai managed to get more people to chant and even kids chanted on small Japa malas. For small kids there was the small Japa mala with 27 beads. Parents and children were chanting in Dubai. Efforts were made in other parts of the world also to chant more. Get more people to chant. Advaita Acarya from Greater Noida is arranging a holy name festival there today and you know he had been reporting that devotees are preaching in different parts of Noida with great success.

They reported to me yesterday in the park that each one of them got more than 500 new people to chant the maha-mantra. Manjulali Mataji reported 630 school children chanted one round of maha-mantra. This is in Bangalore. Advait Acarya Prabhu was chanting from Slovenia. He did not report anything, but I was happy to see him chanting. Hardik Patel distributed Srila Prabhupada’s books which are full of the glories of the holy name.

Book distribution is also a celebration of the World Holy Name Festival. Like that, we should remember your reporting made here. That is all right, and we have only one more day to go – today and tomorrow. You may continue reporting to me on this conference, but you should be visiting World Holy Name Festival website and should be sending your reports to Ekalavya Prabhuji. Till now so many reports are coming. Trilokinath from Brisbane, Australia reported Harinama is going on there. The Bhakti Vriksha group of Srimati Radhika chanted yesterday. I want to stop this reporting now, and want to tell you some glories of the holy name, this morning.

We are saying that we will be talking about the glory of Harinama, but this is also like a report of Maha Harinama Sankirtana that took place 500 years back in Navadvipa. For the past few days you have been hearing how Caitanya Mahaprabhu was instructing and inspiring followers to go out and chant and dance and spread the glory of Harinama. ‘Share glories of the holy name, share the holy name with others.’ Caitanya Mahaprabhu also told them to come back and report him.

One day many devotees presented a very bad report to Mahaprabhu. It was very discouraging. That was that Chand Kazi along with his police force were opposing the kirtana. They were opposing not just by saying, ‘Oh! Don’t do it!

You can’t do it! They went even beyond that and started beating and threatening all the chanters. They started breaking mrdangas.” There was reporting like this from all over. Such reports were reaching Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu. When Mahaprabhu heard these reports He was very furious. He was very angry like a rudra personified. He was in the mood of destroying all those agents and parties and individuals who were opposing Mahaprabhu’s or Hari’s kirtana or the holy name ‘Hare Krishna’.

Then Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu said that they should gather all the devotees from Navadvipa. “I will also be there in the front of the procession. We will all go to Chand Kazi’s house. I will question him, threaten him, scare him so that he doesn’t stop our kirtana.” So then a big number of devotees arrived on the scene. They most probably gathered at Srivas Thakur’s house. His courtyard was known as ‘Srivas Angan. So the news spread.

All the Navadvipa residents became very, very delighted and jubilant. Because there was going to be the Maha Harinama Sankirtana party and Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu was going to lead the procession. They all started sweeping and cleaning the streets. They decorated the streets and entrances of their homes. So that the kirtana party can be greeted, whenever they will pass by their homes. All those who arrived at the evening time, were carrying the mashal or lamp in their hands as it was evening. There were so many of them with torches.

The number of participants was amazing. There were millions of participants. This number was beyond the number of residents or citizens or population of Navadvipa. Many demigods had arrived in disguise and there was an overpopulation. The amount of decoration done on the streets was also amazing. They were wondering who is decorating this? Residents were decorating, but they noticed there was much more additional decorations that had taken place. Some visiting personalities also got busy in decorating the town. I can’t give all the details. There are so many details. There is a whole chapter on this in Caitanya Bhagavata. Vrindavan Das Thakur has explained this kirtana and kirtana party. This party was divided into so many groups. Advait Acarya was leading one of the parties and Haridas Thakur was dancing and leading another party.

Nityananda Prabhu said, “ No! No! I can’t be away from You, my Lord. Wherever You are in whichever party You will be I will be next to You. So like that it was a well organised Sankirtana procession. Now it was heading towards the house of Chand Kazi. “Where is Chand Kazi? Get him!” Those of you who have visited Navadvipa Mayapur know where Chand Kazi’s samadhi is. Imagine that was the location of the house of Chand Kazi. And then this whole procession started heading towards the house of Chand Kazi. There was a whole uproar as devotees were chanting and dancing.

They were surcharged with the chanting of the holy name of the Lord. It was heard from the far distance and now Chand Kazi was also able to hear this, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna! He was the one who had been stopping the kirtana all these days. He used to say, “Stop this kirtana! Kirtan must stop! We will threaten you , we will beat this kirtaniyas and break their mrdangas.” These orders were already in place, but this day, as Mahaprabhu’s party was chanting there was no opposition. Chand Kazi was wondering what’s happening? His followers reported to him that this is Nimai.

Nimai is coming with the big procession, chanting party and dancing party. Some of them are saying, “We will catch Chand Kazi! We will kill Chand Kazi! When Chand Kazi heard reports of this huge harinama party, headed by Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Advaita Acarya, Haridas Thakur, Srivas Thakur, Gadadhar Pandit. All His associates were there performing nagar Sankirtana. Finally the kirtana party arrived right in front of Chand Kazi’s kothi.

Chand Kazi was trying to hide, feeling his end is near now. He cannot save himself. Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu managed to have audience with Chand Kazi. There was the dialogue between Chand Kazi and Gauranga. Chand Kazi was also greeted in his own way, so then there was a dialogue between two great personalities. That was a very good and instructive dialogue. Very inspirational dialogue in fact, which we should study and read from Caitanya Bhagavata.

Gist of it is that Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, “Oh! What happened? You have been stopping our kirtanas all these days, for the past several days, but today we did not see anyone opposing us. We did not encounter any opposition. There was no one trying to stop us. What happened? Why today no one came to stop our kirtana? Tell us what happened? Kirtana went unopposed.” Then Chand Kazi shared his experience of the night before. What he had encountered or what he had gone through.

He said in the middle of the night when I was fast asleep, I heard the roaring sound of a lion, coming in my direction. I was woken up and I saw a very scary scene. Literally there was the lion, but His face was only lion like and His body was human-like. He jumped on my chest, and said that you were stopping My kirtanas, and stopping this Hare Krishna Hare Krishna chanting? I will kill you if you continue such attempts, I am ready to kill you.

He had a long fingers and sharp nails. He placed them on my chest. He was trying to dig them deeper into my chest. There was blood from my chest, but luckily he was kind to me. He said I will let you go, but if you ever again try to stop My kirtanas or chanting and trouble the kirtaniyas , dancing on the streets of Navadvipa, if you ever tried to stop that I will be back. I will then cut you into pieces and make chutney of you and eat that. Understand? Chand Kazi was sharing his experience of the night before. I said you may not believe what I said but look, and he uncovered his chest he removed his kurta and showed the marks of the nails of that person who appeared last night.

They are still fresh can you see?
This is not the end of that pastime, but we need to stop here. But the gist is that Mahaprabhu had promised that I will protect you. You do the kirtanas and if anyone is opposing you, I will take care. He had said this. Then what happened in the case of Chand Kazi. Now you know. That lion was Narasimha. Gauranga is Narasimha. kesava- dhrita-narahari-rupa. Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared as Narasimhadev and He protected. Then we know from history that there was an order that from today onwards Nimai’s Kirtana party will go on unopposed. No one will stop it. Nimai’s Kirtana will go on in Navadvipa. He passed that order. This pastime is also called Chand Kazi’s uddhar Lila.

He was liberated, and we know that this Chand Kazi was none other than Kamsa. In Caitanya Mahaprabhu Lila has appeared as Chand Kazi. Then there was Chand Kazi uddhar. In Mayapur there is a samadhi of Chand Kazi. That samadhi is not only visited by Muslims but also by Gaudiya Vaisnavas. We have Navadvipa-mandala Parikrama in Mayapur, that time we all go to Chand Kazi’s samadhi. We offer our respects and we do Parikrama of his samadhi. Caitanya Mahaprabhu liberated Chand Kazi and then kirtanas went on.

So go on chanting and reporting. We have one more day.

LORD PROTECTS THE CHANTERS

We appreciate you all and congratulate you all for chanting with us this morning also. Today is Sunday and we have only 396 participants so far. Currently world holy name festival is going on and considering that the number of chanters are less. Some of the devotees who chant with us on this conference either they are sleeping or they are doing something else and so they are not with us, which is a sorry state of affairs.

Namacarya Sri Haridas Thakur ki jai! He is our Namacarya. Acarya of the holy name. Sri Krishna Caitanya Mahaprabhu designated him as namacarya. Who designated him? The Supreme Personality of Godhead! Gauranga! Lord designated, promoted, appointed him as namacarya. Acarya of the holy name. By his mercy only we used to chant and we are chanting and also celebrating this world holy name festival. By the mercy of Namacarya Srila Haridas Thakur only we will be able to celebrate this World Holy Name Festival successfully.

Otherwise he is also an acarya of our sampradaya, Brahma- Madhva-Gaudiya Sampradaya. First acarya or found acarya is Brahma and he appeared as Brahma-Haridas. His name is Brahma-Haridas so he is Brahma and Haridas. We pray at his lotus feet, for his mercy. Those participants of the
world holy name festival and those who are listening now to the glories, from all over the planet and those who are participating, require the mercy of Haridas Thakur. World Holy Name Festival requires boost and blessings and divine intervention of Haridas Thakur. He could do such things and we need his power. We require his blessings when we are in the middle of this herculean task of celebrating World Holy Name Festival. And those who are not participating in this festival, may Namacarya Haridas Thakur give them intelligence and engage them also in glorification of the holy name, by organising and participating in this festival.

There were very difficult circumstances. Against all odds namacarya Sri Haridas Thakur chanted. One of the situations was when he was being
beaten in public in the marketplace. Still he did not stop chanting. Lord had noticed this, how this devotees namacarya Haridas Thakur, was beaten by Chand Kazi’s men. Lords heart melted and he had rushed to the scene. With his Sudarshan chakra. Lord was ready to cut the necks off. Just then Lord noticed in spite of all such treatment being given by Chand kazi’s men , Haridas Thakur was mercifully disposed and very kind to them. So then Lord decided not to use his weapon , Sudarshan to kill or crush this folks into pieces, Lord did not do so. Then he did something else to protect namacarya Shri Haridas Thakur. Which was that market place that we cannot tell you.

But that scene, comes to our mind when talking today. When namacarya Haridas Thakur was being beaten in the marketplace public also was
watching, and there were various reactions of different people on Haridas Thakur being beaten. And what was the reaction of the Lord? He had also appeared at the scene. We try to visualise this scene. The Lord is there with his Sudarshan and then He couldn’t use His Sudarshan, as Haridas Thakur was being kind to those who were beating him. Then He was thinking of some alternative to protect him. How should I protect My Haridas? So then what did the Lord do? Lord was coming in between Haridas Thakur and those who were beating him and all that beating which was done with so many long and strong sticks, they were now beating on the back of the Lord, Gauranga. Then Caitanya Mahaprabhu displayed very extraordinary pastime, which lasted for 21 hours, sapta-prahar Mahaprakash Lila in Navadvip Mayapur.

So series of various scenes were there and one of them was namacarya Haridas Thakur and Gauranga Mahaprabhu reciprocating and talking, so during that time Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu uncovered his back. Haridas Thakur looked and saw the marks on Mahaprbhu’s back, marks of the beating with the stick. When Haridas Thakur saw that, immediately he realised and he was reminded of that ghastly episode where he was being beaten. He realised that the beating had taken place on the back of his Lord so he lost external consciousness. He started rolling on the ground. ‘Oh for my sake my Lord has taken this beating. Just see the kindness of my Lord. ……..na me bhaktah pranasyati. He has declared in Bhagavad-Gita, that My devotees will never be perished. He had declared that. So Caitanya Mahaprabhu had also saved Haridas Thakur. He used to say , – suno suno Nityanand suno Haridas, please chant and spread the glories of the holy name, and then report back to me. paritranaya sadhunam vinasaya ca duskrtam …… I will appear and take care of those dusta or miscreants. He had mentioned that to Nityananda Prabhu and Haridas Thakur. So here we see that promise that He had given to Arjun on the battlefield of Kurukshetra and also as Caitanya Mahaprabhu was fulfilled. ‘You go. Here you propagate, you chant the holy name. If anyone is opposing I will take care, I will come in the middle of those. We see all this demonstration of that promise. His words we remember when such pastime took place. It reminds us of the glories of the holy name, glories of Gauranga, and glorious chanter of the holy name namacarya Sri Haridas Thakur. So that is the thing you should be reminded to remember, while chanting. Books are the basis, siddhant or bases of the power of chanting of the holy name of the Lord. So you are chanting and dancing, doing japa or Harinama. Japa that we do, is for our own good. We cannot just remain Bhajananandi’s ,

just selfish, self centred, worried about our own liberation only. In Gaudiya Vaisnava parampara, there are ‘gostyanandi’ , spreading the glories of the Lord and the holy name, share them with others. Gostyanand. Bodhayantaha parasparam’. So japa is ‘Bhaja anand’ and Harinama Sankirtana on the streets as it is happening now, in Noida and other places, is Gostyanand.

64 rounds are also chanted. I am seeing the whole scene in the Ahmedabad, devotees have gathered with the mission of chanting 64 rounds. I am also getting reports from Bhiwandi and other places. Lots of 64 rounds chanting is being done. That’s nice, others could also do this. This Japa time is also part of the holy name festival. Chant more and more rounds, get new people to chant.

In Noida Temple yesterday 120 visitors chanted one round of Hare Krishna maha-mantra. Others also can do such things. New people some 4000
people were invited in Noida temple and they were also given beads and they chanted. Prema Padmini mataji sent report , they devotees chanted in the park this morning which was a beautiful scene, in the park so many people sitting and chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna. They are visitors and they also chant. From Noida Sita Rani Mataji manage to go on the streets to do Harinama.

There is a report from Dubai. There Matajis are making visitors chant one round of maha-mantra which is appreciated. We also heard report from
Madhavanandini from Russia, that devotees are getting together and they are doing Marathon of chanting. Radhika Raman Prabhu from Toronto
participated in chanting with us this morning. He didn’t share any reports. Is Toronto Temple participating in the holy name festival? If not, participate now in the World Holy Name Festival. Remind Bhaktimarga Swami Maharaja to arrange special programs for World Holy Name Festival. Give my message to him. Reports are pouring in. Hare Krishna to all the organizers. Kanpur is going on padayatra.

So today, tomorrow and day after tomorrow still you have the chance. Today is Sunday, you can make this holiday into a holy day. Don’t take breaks, stay busy. Today we are expecting more than 10000 devotees from Delhi NCR, and there will be Maha Maha Sankirtana in Delhi today. I will also be there. You can do something similar in your respective countries. There is one more report which I can see now reports are just pouring in. Yesterday in different parks around Noida, 550 new people chanted one round of maha-mantra.

Hare Krishna, Welcome and Thank You for joining this conference and chanting. There are about 500 devotees chanting from all over the world, as well as some more on FaceBook.

I am also getting lots of reports on the screen. You are all in high spirits and they are inspirational reports. It is inspirational just to see you chanting what to speak of getting reports of you getting others to chant as part of the World Holy Name Festival. I was reading several of the reports while I was chanting.There were so many of you sending reports, I could not read them all. You could also have read.

Hearing the holy name and reading the holy name is not Maya. Talking about reports, I was listening to Caitanya Bhagavat. I heard and understood that Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu chanted….

…. Himself. He was chanting and dancing in the nectar of the holy name and at the same time He was instructing others, His associates, especially Haridas Thakura and Nityananda Prabhu:

suno suno nityananda, suno haridas
sarvatra amar ajna koroho prakas prati ghare ghare giya koro ei bhiksa
bolo `krsna’, bhajo krsna, koro krsna-siksa iha bai arna boliba,
bolaiba dina-avasane asi’ amare cohiba

“Listen, listen, Nityananda! Listen, Haridasa! Make My command known everywhere! Go from house to house and beg from all the residents, `Please chant Krsna’s name, worship Krsna, and teach others to follow Krsna’s instructions.’ Do not speak, or cause anyone to speak, anything other than this.” Sri Sri Godruma Candrer Ajna “The Divine Command of Sri Godruma-candra” by Srila Saccidananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura)

On top of that Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu further instructed to preach the holy name. It is a festival. He told them all to come back at the end of the day and report their preaching efforts to Him. “Do not be afraid. Wherever you spread the glories of the holy name, I will be there with my Sudarshan Cakra. I will protect you. You go preach.” He was instructing like that – “You chant and you should instruct the whole world to also chant the name of the Lord.” He also went out to preach.

The instructions to Haridas Thakura, Nityanand Prabhu and the others to become Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu followers, devotees and associates. These instructions are not just there for them. We should take it in the spirit that those instructions are for all of us. We should also remember what Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu said – “ I am with you. I will protect you. Surrender unto Me. Do not fear.”

Krsna told Arjun in Bhagavad-gita:
mam hi partha vyapasritya
ye ‘pi syuh papa-yonayah
striyo vaisyas tatha sudras
te ‘pi yanti param gatim

TRANSLATION
O son of Prtha, those who take shelter in Me, though they be of lower birth-women, vaisyas [merchants], as well as sudras [workers]-can approach the supreme destination. (BG 9.32)

Krsna says it in Sanskrit and in Bangla. In Kurukshetra He is saying the same thing. He was also sharing the nectar of the holy name with others. There are two different mentalities – the ant mentality and the dog mentality. Ants are expert at finding something sweet. When they come across something, they do not continue to eat it. They turn around and invite everyone – “ Please come. Let’s all go and eat.” This is very different from the dog mentality. He has a greed mentality. A very different attitude and approach to the ant. A dog had a piece of bread in his mouth. He saw his reflection in a pool of water. There he saw the dog with a piece of bread in his mouth. His greed mentality of wanting that piece of bread resulted in his losing the piece he had in his mouth. Vaisnavas are like ants.

That is their recognisable trait. They can identify with your unhappiness and have a solution for that.

I was reading about ISKCON Pune. Last year for the World Holy Name Festival they held kirtana simultaneously at the same time in108 towns. This year they want to do this simultaneous kirtana in 208 towns. This is amazing and wonderful. So what about Noida? You can start with at least 25 towns.

Reports:
In Noida as part of the World Holy Name Festival in the morning they are going to different parts with thousands of japa malas and getting them to chant at least one round One devotee who normally chants 16 rounds has chanted 37 rounds.

Revati Raman Prabhu from Thane is getting a group tighter and they will all chant 64 rounds.

Some devotees are making their way to Wada Farm to chant with them.

BE THE DISTRIBUTOR OF THE HOLY NAME

Yesterday we discussed Caitanya Mahaprabhu as He started chanting Hare Krishna. He took to the chanting and that chanting influenced Him very much.Of course, this happened very quickly as we have Krsna in Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He has technically gone mad as a result of the chanting of Hare Krsna – transcendental madness. We cannot and we should not imitate Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu. It is going to be a more gradual process for us. We will have to maintain patience and await for that kind of madness in our consciousness. It’s good to know whether this certain outcome of chanting, is possible or not possible. When one comes to the stage of becoming ecstatic by chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, it is great!

jagannatha swami nayana patagami bhavatu me

We pray like that to Sri Krsna Caitanya who did that to Jagannatha Swami, who are One and the same Lords. “May we see Your glances, Oh! Could we have Your darsana wherever we look?” This is the ultimate result of chanting with love. This is the desired goal.

If our words are fully Krishna conscious then by those kind of words we may be gifted with full development or evolution, that is Krishna consciousness. We become Krishna conscious by chanting …

We should have faith like that. Not to have faith in the chanting of the holy names of the Lord is offence number ten. What is that faith? It is that this chanting of Hare Krishna could make me fully Krishna conscious, allow me to take darsana of the Lord. His holy name could bring me back home, back to Krsna. This is certain. It is not exaggeration – harinama nikalpa. It is an offence when we don’t have faith like that Oh! Really! The holy name could do that? We should develop that kind of faith, that kind of understanding. You are welcome to chant the holy name with that
kind of understanding.

We Gaudiya Vaisnavas, including our leaders like the six Goswamis of Vrndavana were chanters of the holy name, but they never claimed that, ‘I am in Krsna now. I am with Him. I got Him. I caught Him.’ Mostly they expressed the feelings of separation from the Lord. ‘He Radhe! Vraja devike ca lalite he! Nanda suno kuttah’ Where are you! Where are you? Where are you? This is the question. So the more we chant, the more intensely we would be enquiring, wondering where is Krsna. Where could I see Him? When am I going to see Him? Why am I not seeing?

Caitanya Mahaprabhu also expressed those feelings. As He was chanting He was trying to find Krsna, look for Krsna. Sometimes he would ask Gadadhar, ‘Where is Krsna. I have to meet Him. Where is He?’ Then one time Gadadhar Pandit who is Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s very close associate and friend, they grew up together said to Caitanya Mahaprabhu ‘Oh! He is in Your heart.’ As soon as Nimai heard that the Lord is in His heart, He started scratching His chest and with His nails He was trying to dig deeper and open His heart like Hanuman had done. As He had heard the Lord is in the heart. ‘Oh really! The Lord is in my heart? Okay, I will look inside My heart.’ Then He started trying to open His heart and He was harming Himself and scratching and there was blood oozing from His chest.

Sacimata was not far from this scene, She was watching what her Nimai was doing, digging deeper into His chest and wanting to see the Lord in the heart. The way in which He was attempting to do so – scratching. She was certainly very concerned and worried. But then she also noticed what Gadadhar said next and that gave some relief to Sacimata. Gadadhar Pandit said ‘No! No! Not in the heart . Look, He is outside, He is there. Don’t look inside the heart .’ So

Gadadhar Pandit just distracted Caitanya Mahaprabhu from what He was attempting to do, trying to look for the Lord in His heart. In that way Nimai stopped scratching and harming Himself. Then He was looking outside some distance away for the Lord. Sacimata was very pleased with what Gadadhar Pandit did and saved Nimai from harming Himself. She appreciated Gadadhar Pandit, ‘Gadai I am very happy with your advice and counselling that you provided Nimai with. I would like you to always surround Nimai, my Nimai.Who knows when would be the next time He would be in trouble like this, harming Himself or be so unpredictable these days. So you Gadai, you Gadadhar please be always around my Nimai, please always protect Him.’ These are acintya or inconceivable pastimes of Gauranga Mahaprabhu, but the message that we should get from this is that chanting of the holy name is a process of reviving our dormant love for Krsna and it has happened in the past so many times. Many devotees have chanted Hare Krishna and they have developed love for the Lord and revived their Krishna Consciousness. This is possible so Caitanya Mahaprabhu is also setting that example. As I said, we cannot imitate and do everything as He did, that’s the difference between following in the footsteps and imitation.

Anukaran and Anusaran as we say in Hindi. But we should develop more and more faith in the process of chanting as we are awaiting the outcome which is Krsna prem, love of Godhead. Now we have little time left so we can turn our attention to the World Holy Name Festival, see what we could do or what you are doing or what you are not doing? We want to see if we can have a successful World Holy Name Festival. As the name says the World Holy Name festival is worldwide and not just a local, regional or national affair. It is an international or global event.

We want to see this festival held and celebrated in a grand manner everywhere worldwide. This is for the sake of an inspirational statement from Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu to get inspiration to spread the holy name all around. We know from Caitanya-caritamrita how Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu said one time “I am the only Gardener here ami ekla matra kalakar and look there are so many fruits hanging down from the trees everywhere. There is also a lot of demand out there, but I am the only Gardener so how many fruits could I take. How many fruits could I distribute alone? Help! Help! Help! Distributors wanted.So Mahaprabhu was saying that He wants distributors. I want more and more. Where are the devotees? The devotees should step forward and fill up the baskets with these fruits. These fruits are Krsna prem, fruits of love of Godhead and then go everywhere.

Do not worry about who deserves or where to distribute, just distribute profusely everywhere in abundance, flood the world with the fruits of love of Godhead

That is what he is talking about golokera prema dhana harinama sankirtana which He has brought down into this world and the Lord wants to see that this is distributed. We want you, all those listening to us, who are part of this conference and those who are not listening to us and are part of this conference are also able to listen to the appeal of Mahaprabhu, appealing to you all that you step forward and fill up the baskets or pockets or bags or lorries with the fruits of love of Godhead,the holy name and go everywhere and distribute the holy name . Nagar bhaje everywhere – nagar adi gram – in every town every village.

During the chanting session some of you were reporting, posting your comments. The report from Mauritius Padayatris is that HH Kadamba Kanana Swami Maharaj is personally heading the World Holy Name Festival there. There are reports from Dubai Shyamalangi Mataji is arranging disciple gatherings and they have to do 64 rounds session for one day – today or tomorrow. The weekly programs are on Fridays in Muslim countries. So everyone is going to have a festival with all the congregation and like that . I am getting reports from Muralimohan Prabhu from Ahmedabad.

He organised one day padayatra to inaugurate World Holy Name Festival and so many in Pune are going to some schools and getting the school children to participate in the World Holy Name Festival. Like that several reports are coming through. There are devotees in Russia. Through this conference they sent message to Saint Petersburg that they should organise a grand World Holy Name Festival there. Ram Leela Mataji from Solapur said that they are doing indoor chanting. My response is do outdoor chanting. Go in the streets and chant. Do nagar sankirtana. Like our Advaita Acarya who was not happy with Caitanya Mahaprabhu when He was doing indoor kirtana in Srivas Angan, Advaita Acarya wanted that the kirtana should be taken everywhere in the streets of Navadwip.

I am reading some encouraging reports, I am hearing and also getting emails during the day. Let’s stop here and get into action. Time to pack, get up and be substantial.

JARE DAKHO TARE KAHO KRISHNA-UPADESH!

This is the time for the World Holy Name Festival so we could announce our scores that today we had 521 participants. During this festival we want to hear some scores, results, number of different festivals conducted, japa sessions you conducted or so many people chanting because of your arrangements. So we are reporting from this session there are 527 participants.

In Lord Caitanyas life and teachings, he has taught and shared His realisations that the chanting of Hare Krishna Hare Krishna / Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama / Rama Rama Hare Hare / transformed his life. He was no longer the same person as soon as he took up the chanting. As He took to the chanting after being initiated by Isvara Puri in Gaya, when He returned to Navadvipa, Mayapur, He was a completely changed person, upside down and inside out. He was changed. No one could recognise that He is the same Nimai Pandit. He does not even look like Nimai Pandit. Caitanya Mahaprabhu gave the credit to Hare Krishna maha-mantra.

All the changes in Him had taken place because of the chanting of Hare Krishna maha-mantra. So He was exhibiting all the symptoms to the extent that by seeing Him all the people around use to say Oh! Nimai has gone mad!

So then Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu went back to his Guru Maharaja asking, ‘Kiba mantra dila gosai kiba Tara Bal, japite japite mantra karil pagal’ Oh!dear Guru Maharaja, my Guru Maharaja, (doesn’t have to say ‘dear’ to an honorable person). He asked what kind of mantra have you given? There is so much power in this! As I started chanting I have gone mad. I laugh, I cry and I roll on the ground, I become stunned and this happens and that happens. And I know that this maha-mantra has done this. So what a powerful mantra it is! Caitanya Mahaprabhu was also talking to devotees, Gadadhar Pandit and Mukunda Datta. Lord was saying to them,’ I wasted my lifetime. I wasn’t chanting like you. I wasn’t a devotee like you. From your very birth you are chanting. You are dancing and you are happy realizing this
mellows of devotion’.

hari hari! biphale janama gonainu
manusya-janama paiya, radha-krsna na bhajiya
janiya suniya bisa khainu

Translation:

O Lord Hari I have spent my life uselessly. Having obtained a human birth and having net worshiped Radha and Krsna, I have knowingly drunk poison.(Dainya Bodhika Song 2 (Ista Deve Vijnapti) Narottama Dasa Thakura He was expressing sentiments like that. I remained busy in sastra and debates, teaching and learning the scriptures, lot of Vidyarjan, but I wasted My time. Why did I not take this chanting of Hare Krishna maha-mantra from early age childhood? He was having such thoughts and was sharing them with the devotees. So with this kind of light and expression Caitanya Mahaprabhu is expressing the glories of the holy name. He is establishing harer nama eva kevalam principal.

dharma-samsthapanarthaya
sambhavami yuge yuge (BG 4.8)

Lord has appeared to establish the Dharma for this age of Kali. We are seeing how Caitanya Mahaprabhu is establishing the accomplishment of the glories of the holy name, and Dharma for this age of Kali. We all have to chant. Specially this part is also sadhana. This is one way of chanting Hare Krishna Hare Krishna /Krishna Krishna Hare Hare /Hare Rama Hare Rama /Rama Rama Hare Hare.

We could say that this is ‘Charity begins at home’. Charity begins with you! It begins with yourself. Mahaprabhu came with the gift of this Harinama and we should be giving this gift to our self. That is what we do when we do our Japa. We are drinking, gifting this holy name to our self and getting benefited. We are getting nourished and flourished as we do this. So certainly we have to do this. At the same time, it is certainly the will and wish of the Lord that we all chant. Those who hear the glories of the holy name understand harer nama eva kevalam. We should be chanting. But we should not be happy only with that. Okay, I am chanting, I am happy. Chant and be happy! But Mahaprabhu
did not want us only to be happy. Mahaprabhu is expecting and instructing all the chanters of the holy name, all those who are following him, all those who have taken up the chanting of the maha-mantra, Mahaprabhu’s instructions all those are:

yare dekha, tare kaha ‘krsna’-upadesa
amara ajnaya guru hana tara’ ei desa

Translation
“Instruct everyone to follow the orders of Lord Sri Krsna as they are given in the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam. In this way become a spiritual master and try to liberate everyone in this land.” (CC Madhya 7.128)

This is the instruction of Mahaprabhu, Supreme Personality of Godhead. He is our Prabhu, prabhavashali, he is our master. So this is His order- yare dekha, tare kaha ‘krsna’-upadesaamara ajnaya guru hana tara’ ei desa. Srila Prabhupada said to me “yare dekha, tare kaha ‘krsna’-upadesa” when Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, yare dekha, tare kaha ‘krsna’-upadesa, that includes Hare Krishna updesa also.

Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s other famous statement, instruction or we could say desire is one which Srila Prabhupada would repeat again and again and again is

bharata-bhumite haila manusya janma yara
janma sarthaka kari’ kara para-upakara

Translation:
“One who has taken his birth as a human being in the land of India [Bharata-varsa] should make his life successful and work for the benefit of all other people. (CC Adi lila 9.41)

If you have taken birth in Bharat varsa, and you wish to make your life perfect, you have to accomplish this, kara para-upkara. Do para-upkara. Do something good for others. Bahujana hitay bahujana sukhay. Do something for the benefit of others. Give charity, be charitable, magnanimous. Give out! So that is para-upkara which Mahaprabhu wants us to do. I will take some time to explain this. There are many devotees from overseas. They think , Oh! Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, “bharata-bhumite haila…… but I was not born in India! I am not Bharatvasi! I am Mauritius vasi or Russia vasi or America vasi. I am from this sthan that sthan, Pakistan, Kazakistan and Australia – Astra sthan. Sastra and astras were kept for safety in the Australian continent. All followers of Gauranga Mahaprabhu wherever they are, they are Bharat vasis. There janma is bharata-bhumite haila. One time I was talking with Ekalavya Prabhuji about this and he said, “I am Bharat vasi because I was initiated in India. I took birth in India. Although I was born in America but my real birth, my spiritual birth was in India.” Then we could say that it doesn’t matter wherever you were initiated, but as you were connected to this parampara , that’s it. From that time onwards you cease to be an American, Australian or Canadian and your birth from there onwards is bharatvasi. This whole planet was Bharatvarsh – India. So this is the instruction of Caitanya Mahaprabhu to all of His followers regardless of their birth, from whichever country or continent.

So this para-upkara business is the propagation of the holy name. We would like to tell all those listeners, participants of this conference and those listening, that it is the time to do para-upkara. Be charitable. Give this gift of the holy name to others. Be charitable! So many things you could do, that we discussed, what the World Holy Name Festival organisers are expecting, about how to celebrate this holy name festival. So understand that, give out the holy name, distribute the holy name.

Just a few minutes ago I was observing a wonderful thing from Noida. Devotees have set up a booth. So many walkers and passersby were made
to sit down and they were chanting. That was a very beautiful scene to watch as I am seeing from the temple. I saw those devotees from Noida Temple preaching and doing para-upkara. Are you not seeing that the Lord is watching this? Do you think Gaurang is not watching or Radha Govind is not seeing the activities in that booth in the park? If I, who is just a tiny being am pleased by that then how much more pleased the Lord must be when He witnesses us doing this charitable work of spreading the holy name. So stay busy following Mahaprabhu order of chanting Hare Krishna and giving Hare Krishna to others. He ordered Haridas Thakur and Nityananda Prabhu,

suno suno nityananda, suno haridas sarvatra amar ajna koroho prakas prati
ghare ghare giya koro ei bhiksa bolo `krsna’, bhajo krsna, koro krsna-siksa

Listen Nityananda, listen Haridas, This is My order. If you go from door to door and beg the people to take up this instruction of Mine, they should chant the name of Krsna, bolo Krsna bhajo Krsna, they should worship the Supreme personality of Godhead Krsna, koro Krsna siksa and they should read the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, the books which contain the teachings of Lord Krsna.

When this instruction was received from Mahaprabhu, Nithyananda Prabhu and Haridas Thakur were on the job. They decided the target, Yes ! Yes! We want this Jagai and Madhai to chant. They made various attempts. One attempt was not successful , another attempt was also not successful, third attempt they were trying. They thought if personalities like Jagai and Madhai are influenced by chanting of maha-mantra, if they could be transformed, then this news will become the talk of the town. And even now 500 years after that this morning also as I am talking to you about them . It is the talk of the town then. Nityananda Prabhu and Haridas Thakur made it big news., Persons like Jagai and Madhai , as soon as they took up the process of the chanting of maha-mantra, they were changed persons. That’s what happened.

Nityananda Prabhu and Haridas Thakur were thinking if this could be accomplished, if Jagai and Madhai could take up to the chanting , then you
know, the whole world will realise how great is Gauranga. Glories of Gauranga will spread, and with that glories of the holy name will also be
broadcasted far and wide. So they made them the target. They were successful. That was a demonstration of the power of the holy name and
glories of Gauranga.

We should also be in that spirit like Nityananda Prabhu and Haridas Thakur. We want to glorify the holy name. Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu ki Jay! That is why they were out there on the mission of spreading the holy name. So stay busy, get more and more devotees to chanting together.
