Srimad Bhagavatam Katha

Srimad Bhagavatam katha day 3
Pune Hadapsar
27th December 2022

Can you all hear at the back? I know you can all hear on the monitor. Okay, apart from welcoming you all it is also important that I thank you for your coming here today. I can see that you are not getting tired although you have been coming for two days (shouts of Haribol).

vayam tu na vitrpyamau
uttama sloka vikrame
yac chrnvatam rasa jnanan
svadu svadu pade pade
(Srimad Bhagavatam 1.1.19)

Translation
We never tire of hearing the transcendental pastimes of the Personality of Godhead, who is glorified by hymns and prayers. Those who have developed a taste for transcendental relationships with Him relish hearing of His pastimes at every moment.

There were many sages who had gathered at Naimisaranya, there was a big gathering of eight eight thousand and they all said ‘vayam tu na vitrpyamau. We are not becoming tired of listening about the transcendental pastimes of the lord. Svadu svadu pade pade, we want to hear these at every moment. So these feelings are also coming to all of you and what can be said about your enthusiasm?

Today you have made a great achievement and you have made a great uproar. How many days he had been sitting down, but today you have all stood up, and not only did you stand up but you were all dancing! Haribol! By listening to the pastimes of the lord, there is perfection and satisfaction and this was what was discussed at the end of the Bhagavad Mahatmya.

The four Kumaras were speaking on the pastimes of the lord continuously and the lord suddenly appeared there with so many of his associates. Then there was a Maha Sankirtan, a great Sankirtan and everyone including Jnana and Vairagya started dancing. In the same way when we first enter and start listening to the pastimes of the lord initially, we are in the same situation which Jnana and Vairagya were in, but they also started dancing.

I am sure the lord who is here present before us in his deity form and he is here is his form of the holy name

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare

This is also a form of the lord.

kali kale nama rupe krsna avatara
nama haite haya sarva jagat nistara
(Caitanya Caritamrita Adi 17.22)

Translation
In this Age of Kali, the holy name of the Lord, the Hare Krsna maha mantra, is the incarnation of Lord Krsna. Simply by chanting the holy name, one associates with the Lord directly. Anyone who does this is certainly delivered

Once there was a discussion about the different forms of the lord and it was discussed that one form of the lord is which one? Kali kale nama rupe krsna avatara, the lord appears in the form of his holy name.

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare

when we chant, the lord appears.

nama nache jiva nache nache prema dhana jagat nachaya maya kare palayana
(Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur)

The Name dances, the soul dances, and divine love dances. The whole world then begins to dance and Maya flees.

The name starts to dance also which means that the lord is dancing and the jiva is dancing also. Then by doing this, everyone attains prema dhana, prema dhana. Krishna prema pradaya te.

Namo maha vadanyaya
Krishna prema pradaya te Krishnaya Krishna Chaitanya
namine gaura tvishe namah
(Rupa Goswami)

I offer my respectful obeisances unto the Supreme Lord Shri Krishna Chaitanya, who is more magnanimous than any other avatara (incarnation of the Supreme Lord), even Krishna Himself, because He is bestowing freely what no one else has ever given – pure love of Krishna.

Krishna kahnaiya lal ki jai! Dwarakadhish ki jai! Kahnaiya lal is in Vrindavan and Dwarakadhish is in Dwaraka. We are speaking a little about the pastimes of Dwarakadhish, I think I have not spoken of everything in full so you will only understand in accordance to what has been spoken. It is true that we can never speak fully on the glories of pastimes of Srimad Bhagavatam, we can only speak in a limited manner.

This is because the pastimes of the lord are a sea, a whole ocean is there, it is unlimited. Krishna Katha is an ocean out of which we can only spray or throw a few drops from that ocean upon you all by speaking something. A few drops from the ocean we can take and even these few drops of the nectar of the pastimes of the lord is enough for us. These few drops then become an ocean for us.

om purnam adah purnam idam purnat purnam udacyate purnasya purnam adaya purnam evavasisyate
(Sri Isopanisad invocation)

Translation
The Personality of Godhead is perfect and complete. And because He is completely perfect, all emanations from Him, such as this phenomenal world, are perfectly equipped as a complete whole. Whatever is produced of the Complete Whole is also complete by itself. And because He is the Complete Whole, even though so many complete units emanate from Him, He remains the complete balance.

Whatever comes out of this ocean of transcendental pastimes becomes complete also. Sarvatma snapanam param vijayate sri krsna sankirtanam

ceto darpana marjanam bhava maha davagni nirvapanam sreyah kairava candrika vitaranam vidya vadhu jivanam anandambudhi vardhanam prati padam purnamrtasvadanam sarvatma snapanam param vijayate sri krsna sankirtanam
(Siksastakam 1)

Translation
Glory to the sri-krsna-sankirtana, which cleanses the heart of all the dust accumulated for years and extinguishes the fire of conditional life, of repeated birth and death. This sankirtana movement is the prime benediction for humanity at large because it spreads the rays of the benediction moon. It is the life of all transcendental knowledge. It increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully taste the nectar for which we are always anxious.

Once we become part of this Sankirtan movement, which for us is just a drop in the ocean of transcendental pastimes of the lord, then what do we do? We take bath in that ocean or there is a bathing of our soul and along with this, yayatma suprasidati.

sa vai pumsam paro dharmo
yato bhaktir adhoksaje
ahaituky apratihata
yayatma suprasidati
(Srimad Bhagavatam 1.2.6)

Translation
The supreme occupation, or dharma, for all humanity is that by which men can attain to loving devotional service unto the transcendent Lord. Such devotional service must be unmotivated and uninterrupted in order to completely satisfy the self

The soul will be happy, and that soul is us ourselves because we are not this body but we are the spirit soul. When you were all dancing I was thinking that now you are all relaxed, right? ‘Relax, take it easy- relax!’ There is so much tension and pressure in the whole world and there is operation in separation and depression by which the whole world is troubled. That’s why I was thinking when I saw you dancing that ‘now you’re relaxed. You are now at home.’

You’re soul is now taking that joy, stealing joy just like when a person dances, what should we take from that? We should understand that the person must be very happy and that’s why he is dancing. It is also true that crazy people dance as well, Hari Hari. Well, we can also dance because we are crazy for Krishna and we can be called crazy as well.

kiba mantra dila, gosani, kiba tara bala
japite japite mantra karila pagala
(Caitanya Caritamrita Adi 7.81)

Translation
My dear lord, what kind of mantra have you given Me? I have become mad simply by chanting this maha mantra

Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, ‘what kind of mantra have you given Me? Since you have given me this mantra what has happened? I have become mad simply by chanting this maha mantra. Japite japite mantra karila pagala. The people of Mayapura, Navadwipa are calling me mad, a crazy man.’ Actually every person is mad, some are mad after Maya and some are mad after Hari Katha, crazy to hear Krishna’s pastimes.

As I was coming here, on the way as I went to sit in the car, I met a Mataji who was here yesterday in the katha and she was saying also that ‘Maharaja, yesterday’s talk which you gave, this katha has made me mad. This is because on the way home and upon reaching home I kept thinking of all the things which you had spoken in the katha.I was listening to your katha and so I was not even able to sleep at night also.’

If I have pleased at least one person and that’s job satisfaction. I am doing a job here by speaking in the pastimes of Krishna and I am satisfied that by my doing so, at least one person has become happy. I dont know if any of you ate happy or not but at least one person was, (shouts of Haribol). Thank you. So Dwarakadhish ki jai. Dwarakadhish went to Kuruksetra three times and once her went during the time of a solar eclipse and this is going back five thousand years ago.

When there is an eclipse of the sun or it can be an eclipse of the moon which also takes place, the saintly persons go to a scared river or lake to take bath. So the supreme lord himself, Dwarakadhish went along with his queens, and there were how many in number? Sixteen thousand one hundred and eight and of course his parents were there too, Vasudeva and Devaki. And also there were many ministers there along with the lord, and they were just about to leave.

If I tell speak like this then the story will start but actually all of this is part of the story, the katha but I was not supposed to speak in this way and so I wont do so. Anyway so, I’m talking to myself, so almost a hundred years ago or itself possible that it’s a little less than that, the Brajavasi’s were feeling sunyayitam jagat sarvam govinda virahena me

yugayitam nimesena caksusa pravrsayitam sunyayitam jagat sarvam govinda virahena me
(Siksastakam 7)

Translation
O Govinda! Feeling Your separations I am considering a moment to be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence.

For the Brajavasi’s in Vrindavan it was sunyayitam jagat sarvam. They were feeling the while world to be vacant without Govinda and you can take it that they were dying due to feelings of the intense separation from the lord. They were so anxious to meet the lord, you can’t even imagine how much. Krishna knew of this and he was also missing them of course. ‘Odho mohi Braj visrat nahi. Oh Uddhava I cannot forget Braja, Vrindavan. Yeh mathura kanchan ki nagari.’

At that time Krishna was in Mathura so he was telling Uddava ‘this Mathura is a city made of gold. There is always business dealings going on here of gold and silver and so many other things. But in Vrindavan the dealings are the dealings of love and so I not happy with all these other business dealings here in Mathura. Oh Uddhava, mohi Braj visrat nahi. Oh Uddhava I cannot forget Braja.’ So both parties were missing each other and when these things are discussed, we should see if we are also missing the lord.

This is our misfortune, that we think we can live in separation from the lord. As it is said, what sort of life is that? Some people say like this but I am saying, ‘what sort of life is this, to live without Krishna? What life is this without the supreme lord?’ For the soul the only life is Krishna otherwise there is only death or there is death again and again.

punarapi jananam punarapi maranam punarapi janani jathare sayanam, iha samsare bahudusare krpaya’pare pahi murare
(Sankarachrya bhaja govindam verse 21)

Translation
Being born again, dying again, and again lying in the mother’s womb; this samsara is extremely difficult to cross over. Save me, O destroyer of Mura, through your infinite compassion.

Sankarachrya has sung this in the bhaja govindam bhajan. Bhaja govindam bhaja govindam govindam bhajamudhamate.

bhaja govindam bhaja govindam
govindam bhajamudhamate
samprapte sannihite kale
nahi nahi raksati dukrumkarane
(Sankarachrya bhaja govindam verse 1)

Translation
Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda. Oh fool! Rules of Grammar will not save you at the time of your death

‘You fool! What should you do? bhaja govindam. Govindam bhajamudhamate. Worship Govinda.

In Varanasi there was one Maha Pandit, a great expert knower of Sanskrit and he kept speaking Sanskrit and he was the one Sankarachrya was speaking to when he said ‘oh fool bhaja Govindam, worship Govindam.’ And what is that one bhaje Pandurangam?

When Sankarachrya cane to Pandharpura, I was supposed to be speaking on another subject but anyway when he came to Pandharpura he took darshan of Pandharinath, of Vitthal Rukmini. Then he wrote one Astaka called the Panduranga Astaka, Panduranga Panduranga. In this Astaka he says Parabrahma lingam bhaje Pandurangam. Lingam means the form , although those who preach Advaita, about the formless and the lord who has no qualities are called Mayavadi’s.

Sankarachrya had come to preach this Mayavada and he did this also but those who preach like this say that the lord has no form and neither does the lord have any qualities also. That Sankarachrya who was preaching that the lord was formless and without qualities came to Pandharpura and started saying ‘bhaja Govindam.’ Actually this he was already saying in Varanasi and so when he came to Pandharpura he said ‘Parabrahma lingam bhaje Pandurangam.’

You say it to, Parabrahma lingam bhaje Pandurangam, Parabrahma lingam bhaje Pandurangam. I was speaking or rather I was asking if we really miss Krishna and I was also reminding everyone that we must miss the lord. We have to think of the lord to be able to miss him and so when Krishna had to go to Kuruksetra to bathe in the lake calles Surya Kunda, Dwarakadhish sent a personal letter addressed to the residents of Vrindavan, to each individual. He sent a hand written letter, not typed because typed is not personal.

He signed it ‘yours sincerely Dwarakadhish.’ When that letter was received by Nanda Baba and even Radharani and the Gopis, the cowherd boys, everyone had a personal invitation. There was no limit to the joy of all the residents of Vrindavan who shouted ‘we will go! Kuruksetra dham ki jai! Let’s go to Kuruksetra, let’s go to Kuruksetra!’ I was trying to say in brief that in Kuruksetra there was a meeting between the residents of Dwaraka and Dwarakadhish with the residents of Vrindavan, the Brajavasi’s. There was a great reunion.

itidrk sva lilabhir ananda kunde sva ghosam nimajjantam akhyapayantam
tadiyesita jnesu bhaktair jitatvam punah prematas tam satavrtti vande
(Damodarastakam verse 3)

Translation
By such childhood pastimes as this He is drowning the inhabitants of Gokula in pools of ecstasy, and is revealing to those devotees who are absorbed in knowledge of His supreme majesty and opulence that He is only conquered by devotees whose pure love is imbues with intimacy and is free from all conceptions of awe and reverence. With great love I again offer my obeisances to Lord Damodara hundreds and hundreds of times.

The joy and pastimes of that meeting was enjoyed by all who were present there in Kuruksetra and there manifested a lake or ocean which was made of joy. Anandambudhi vardhanam prati padam purnamrtasvadanam

ceto darpana marjanam bhava maha davagni nirvapanam sreyah kairava candrika vitaranam vidya vadhu jivanam anandambudhi vardhanam prati padam purnamrtasvadanam sarvatma snapanam param vijayate sri krsna sankirtanam

So purnamrtasvadanam, they were tasting that joy and so the residents of Vrindavan had gone there at this time to Kuruksetra with a decision which they had made and what was that? ‘When we meet Krishna this time, and Balarama will also be there, we will not let them go back again to Dwaraka. We will instead bring then to Vrindavan!’

This was the decision which they had made and how they would bring them to Vrindavan? ‘As the lord was Dwarakadhish, he will certainly come in a chariot,’but the residents of Vrindavan had gone in ox carts.’ The residents if Dwaraka had come in many chariots and there were kings and warriors amongst that gathering and important ministers whereas the business and wealth of the residents of Vrindavan is the cows, Go dhan.

They had many ox’s also and that is how they would travel, in ox carts within Gokul or Vrindavan and so in the same way they had gone to Kuruksetra in the ox carts. Then they were thinking ‘when Krishna and Balaram along with their sister Subhadra would be sitting on their chariot, there may be horses to pull them but we will tell the horses to get out! We will remove those horses and we ourselves will become the horses!

If it is necessary, we can also become donkey’s for the lord, why not? Whether it be a horse or a donkey, it doesn’t matter. We will become that for the supreme lord and we will pull that chariot and bring Krishna and Balaram back to Vrindavan.’ In Jagannath Puri there is a festival of Jagannatha Rathayatra, is there or not? You must have heard of it. There every year, this Rathayatra festival is held in commemoration of this meeting of Kuruksetra.

Krishna did not go to Vrindavan but the attempt was made to take bring Krishna’s chariot by pulling it to Vrindavan. The Jagannatha temple in Jagannatha Puri is the same as Dwaraka or Kuruksetra and there is one more temple in Jagannatha Puri which is called the Gundica temple. This Gundica temple is Vrindavan so when Ratha Yatra in Puri takes place, the people who pull the chariot are in the mood of the residents of Vrindavan, the devotees of Vrindavan.

You could also say they are in Gopi Bhava, the mood of the Gopis or of Nanda Baba in Vatsalya, the mood of parental affection. They could also be in Sakhya Bhava, Like the friends of the lord. They come and take those moods and the they pull Jagannatha’s chariot from Dwaraka or Kuruksetra towards the Gundica temple or Vrindavan. You can say that Jagannatha Rathayatra has this history and the story we have just told behind it.

These are all stories of history, itihasa. Iti means ‘like this’ and asa means ‘it happened.’ So it literally means this is what happened and this is called itihasa, history. Just like the stories of there was once a king and a queen, first the King and then the Queen. The King was Rama and the Queen was Sita. The story of this King and Queen is not just a story but these are the facts of historical events that occurred.

This was the first time that Krishna had visited Kuruksetra and when he went the second time it was Mahabharata and the Kuruksetra war that was going to happen. Dharma kshetre kuru kshetre samaveta yuyutsavah.

Dhritarashtra uvacha dharma kshetre kuru kshetre samaveta yuyutsavah mamakah pandavashchaiva kimakurvata sanjaya (Bhagavad 1.1)

Translation
Dhritarashtra said: O Sanjay, after gathering on the holy field of Kurukshetra, and desiring to fight, what did my sons and the sons of Pandu do?

At that time the lord had gone to Hastinapura in preparation for the war and both Duryodhan and Arjuna reached at the same time to meet the lord. Both of them wanted the lord’s help and participation in the upcoming war. This is all part of the Mahabharata and so the lord said ‘okay, on one side will be my own army, the Narayana army with one akshauhini in number (218,700) and on the other side I will come myself on my own. Also, I will be there but I will not fight.’

The war that was going to take place is called a pastime of the war in the sastras. It is called a pastime because the lord’s pastimes are about to take place there. So it is not that only the Rasa Lila is a
pastime of the lord, the war that took place is also a pastime due to the the lord being present there. In that pastime at the end Duryodhan took the lord’s Narayan army and then he said or he must have thought ‘oh look at that poor Arjuna! I took the while army with thousands of men and he just got one man.’

yatra yogeshvarah krishno yatra partho dhanur dharah tatra shrie vijayo bhutir dhruva nitir matir mama
(Bhagavad 18.78)

Translation
Wherever there is Shri Krishna, the Lord of all Yoga, and wherever there is Arjun, the supreme archer, there will also certainly be unending opulence, victory, prosperity, and righteousness. Of this, I am certain

This is the last sloka of the Bhagavad wherein Sanjaya has spoken, Sanjaya uvaca but in the first sloka of the Bhagavad it was Dhritarashtra uvaca and Dhritarashtra had asked

Dhritarashtra uvacha dharma kshetre kuru kshetre samaveta yuyutsavah mamakah pandavashchaiva kimakurvata sanjaya
(Bhagavad 1.1)

Translation
Dhritarashtra said: O Sanjay, after gathering on the holy field of Kurukshetra, and desiring to fight, what did my sons and the sons of Pandu do?

So he is asking, ‘kimakurvata?’ What is happening once they have decided to go to the battlefield of Kuruksetra?’ What happens in a war? One party wins and the other one loses, there is only win or loss. That is why the answer to the first question of the first sloka in Bhagavad is given in the last sloka of by Sanjaya. That is why it is said Sanjaya uvaca. In the last five slokas of the Bhagavad are spoken by Sanjaya, Sanjaya uvaca.

Sanjaya has said yatra yogeshvarah krishno yatra partho dhanur dharah, wherever there is Shri Krishna, the Lord of all Yoga, and wherever there is Arjun, the supreme archer, what will be there? Tatra shrie vijayo, there will be unending opulence and there will be victory! Wherever there is the pair of Krishna and Arjun, Krishna and his devotee, there is victory.

So remember this. Also it is said in the Mahabharata,

Jayas tu pandu putranam yesam pakse Janardanah
(Mahabharata)

Translation
Victory is always with persons like the sons of Pandu because Lord Krsna is associated with them

Why will the sons of Pandu be victorious? Yesam pakse Janardanah, Lord Janardana is on their side, Krishna is there on their side and that is why victory is assured for the sons of Pandu. There is also another sloka from the Mahabharata

Yato Dharmastato Jayah
(Mahabharata)

Translation
Where there is Dharma, there will be Victory

There will always be victory where there is righteousness. Satyameva Jayate na anrtam, the truth always prevails. Why is it said ‘eva jayate?’ They could have said ‘satyam jayate’ but no, it is ‘satyameva jayate.’ Eva means only, it is emphasised in this way to show that only the truth can prevail. Not that the truth prevails but only the truth prevails. Satyameva jayate. Usually we hear only these two words but there is another part to this saying, nanritam.

This word nanritam means that victory can never come to the untruth, to those who speak falsely and who lie. Na means not and ritam means truth so nanritam is untruth. Hari Hari. Let me tell you first and then I will come back to the war, the third time Krishna comes to Kuruksetra is after the war has ended. Krishna goes to Hastinapur with the Pandavas and King Yuddhishtir. He then begins to stay in Hastinapura and before the war it was Arjun’s turn to grieve and he was so worried and full if grief.

That is why lord Krishnahad to speak the message of the Bhagavad and then after the war King Yuddhishtir is grieving,‘because of me, for me sixty four crore people had to die including our own friends and relatives and these and those. All this just for me to become the King!’ Krishna was explaining and appeasing them. Firstly Krishna by speaking the message of the Gita to Arjun became famous as the speaker of the Bhagavad . At the end Arjun says

nasto mohah smrtir labdha
tvat prasadan mayacyuta
sthito ‘smi gata sandehah
karisye vacanam tava
(Bhagavad 18.73)

Translation
Arjuna said, My dear Krsna, O infallible one, my illusion is now gone. I have regained my memory by Your mercy, and I am now firm and free from doubt and am prepared to act according to Your instructions

These are Arjun’s last words in the conversation between Krishna and Arjun- karisye vacanam tava. This is the end of the eighteenth chapter and the few slokas that are left at the end are spoken by Sanjaya. So Arjun says ‘karisye vacanam tava, I will act according to your order and I will fulfill your desires.’ This is where the dialogue between Krishna and Arjun ends.

Arjun then says that he has no doubts left within his mind and he has become fixed in his mind by listening to the words spoken by Krishna in the . He has become steadily fixed and sober. Even though Krishna was trying to make Yuddhishtir understand for two months in Hastinapur, he continued to lament. At this time they het the news that Grandfather Bhishma is about to leave his body.

Upon hearing this, Krishna and the five Pandava’s ran to that place, back to Kuruksetra and there is a description of this in the Mahabharata. There were so many Kings and sages who had assembled there when they found out that Grandfather Bhishma was about to depart. Krishna is the supreme personality of Godhead of course, as is Balaram, but amongst all men and devotees, Bhishma is a great personality and he was a great grandfather. His age was around four hundred years and he was a greatly respected personality and so on.

He was of great character and he was respected by the Pandavas and by everyone. He was called ‘Gangeya’ because he was the son of Ganga and he had come down to earth after taking so many lessons and instructions in the heavenly planets. His spiritual master was the supreme lord Parashurama who instructed him in the heavenly abode and that is why when he came from the heavenly planets to earth, he was known a Devavrata.

Then also he had taken a vow so that his father King Santanu could marry the fisherwoman. What was the vow he took? ‘I will be a lifelong Brahmacari!’ This is a great vow. There are many vows that a person can make but this Brahmacari vow is called a Brihad Vrata. ‘I will never get married and I will remain a Brahmacari throughout my whole life!’ When the Gods heard this, they cried ‘what?! This is a very Bhishan vow, a terrible vow. How can the son of a great King take such a vow?’

This is how he got the name Bhishma. In this Kuruksetra war, he was fighting on the side of Duryodhan and he was also the commander in chief for the army. The war went on for eighteen days and the Bhagavad has eighteen chapters also. Hari Hari. The Mahabharata has eighteen Parva’s and one of these parts (Parva) is called Bhishma Parva. You can call the Parva a part or a chapter and the Bhishma Parva starts from chapter twenty five till forty two.

The forty second of chapter of Bhishma Parva is the eighteenth chapter of the Bhagavad gita which means that the Bhagavad gita is basically a small part of Mahabharata which has one hundred thousand slokas. Srila Prabhupada used to say that Mahabharata is the history of Greater India. Bhagavad gita is a part of Mahabharata and because we are Hindus or this or that, we do not sometimes realise that the Bhagavad gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam are two depending books.

So many people think this but I will not ask you all here how many of you know this and how many of you don’t know this. The Gita has been spoken by the lord in Kuruksetra and it has seven hundred slokas and Srimad Bhagavatam is a great book with eighteen thousand slokas in it and twelve cantos. There are three hundred and thirty five chapters, do you understand what a chapter is?

Just like in the Gita there are eighteen chapters, so in Srimad Bhagavatam there are three hundred and thirty five chapters and eighteen thousand slokas. The speaker is Srimad Bhagavatam is Sukadeva Goswami who spoke the Bhagavatam on the outskirts of Hastinapura on the banks of the Ganges. This is where King Parikshit had left his Kingdom and everything, he had become completely renounced and he had come to this place.

All the saints and sages had reached this place and Sukadeva Goswami was welcomed there and this place is called ‘Shuktaal and that tree is there also. That is where Sukadeva Goswami sat, under that tree for seven days reciting the Bhagavatam. That is why it is called a ‘Bhagavad Sapta,’ because Sapta means seven days and that is for how long Sukadeva Goswami’s recitation of Srimad Bhagavatam went on for. Srimad Bhagavatam is like the Puranas and it has
the history of the whole universe in it.

I wont speak on it now but it describes the creation of the universe also and it has so many other things. The Bhagavatam has ten topics and it is the description of the pastimes of the lord and his devotees. The incarnations of the lord who we were describing and speaking of yesterday, all these are described in detail along with the instructions and pastimes of the different incarnations.

Out of the three hundred and thirty five chapters, take note of this- the ninth chapter is a description of Sri Krishna himself. Out of the whole Bhagavatam, the ninth chapter which is the tenth canto is the description of lord Krishna and the eleventh canto has another Gita in it. One is the Bhagavad gita from the Mahabharata but in the eleventh canto of the Srimad Bhagavatam there is one more Gita.

This Gita is also spoken by lord Krishna but this Gita has a different name which is Uddhava gita. Who knew that? Have you heard of this before? Uddhava gita. It has more chapters and slokas than the Bhagavad gita and that is also a Gita, a song of God spoken by Krishna himself. There is a dialogue in the Uddhava gita between Uddhava and Krishna which is in this Uddhava gita but the name given in this is Uddhava’s name, not the lord’s name.

In one sense you can say that Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam are two separate books but when put together they become one complete work. They compliment each other, the Gita and Bhagavatam or you could say that the Gita ends with Krishna’s instruction

sarva dharman parityajya
mam ekam saranam vraja
aham tvam sarva papebhyo
moksayisyami ma sucah
(Bhagavad gita 18.66)

Translation
Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear.

But when we open the Bhagavatam what are the first words? Om namo bhagavate Vasudevaya. This is where it begins, telling one to take shelter of the supreme lord Vasudeva. Lord Krishna kept emphasising in Bhagavad gita to Arjun to take shelter of the lord, or rather the spirit soul should take shelter of the supreme lord but the whole of Bhagavatam is the topic of those already under the shelter of the lord. satyam param dhimahi are the words of the first verse of the first chapter in the first canto.

We meditate, dhimahi upon whom? Satyam param, the supreme lord is satya, the supreme truth is the lord. So okay, back to Kuruksetra which is where we were more or less and Krishna has taken the five Pandavas and reached Kuruksetra and there is a gathering of sages who have also come there. From the tenth day of the battle of Kuruksetra till the day of Makar Sankranti, what happens on the 14th of January?

Makar Sankranti. This is when the sun travels from the south hemisphere to the northern hemisphere by changing it’s direction. Also Grandfather Bhishma who had received a blessing from his father, what was that blessing? ‘you can die whenever you desire, and not before then. You will be able to leave your body by your own will. No one will be able to kill you.’ We have a curse upon us but he had gained a blessing. The war went on for many days and even those who survived the war had left for their own kingdoms and the ones who died were dead and gone but Bhishma was still there on a bed of arrows.

So he is just lying there and when the lord arrives there with the Pandavas, Bhishma requests ‘get me some water.’ Duryodhan and his party should not have been present there but they were there and so Duryodhan bought back a vase full of water. ‘No, no not this water! I need Ganga jal, the Ganges water.’ So Arjun took out his famous bow the Gandiva and the water of the Ganges appeared from the earth and went straight into the mouth of Grandfather Bhishma.

Because his arms were busy as they had been tied down in the bed of arrows so he couldn’t drink with his arms, so Arjun arranged like this for him to be able to drink Ganges water. Arjun ki jai! This is Arjun, the greatest archer, he was the number one, at least he was the best of his time. There was a person called Ekalavya who was also a great archer but he was asked by Drona, ‘give me your thumb as my fee’s for being your Guru.’

So his number went down and in this way Arjun remained the number one archer. So over there, King Yuddhishtir who was still lamenting over the outcome of the war , had a dialogue which was in that him and Grandfather Bhishma. So in that dialogue, whatever Grandfather Bhishma said to him made that grief go away. Just like Arjun said in the Gita ‘nasto mohah smrtir labdha tvat prasadan mayacyuta’

nasto mohah smrtir labdha
tvat prasadan mayacyuta
sthito ‘smi gata sandehah
karisye vacanam tava
(Bhagavad gita 18.73)

Translation
Arjuna said, My dear Krsna, O infallible one, my illusion is now gone. I have regained my memory by Your mercy, and I am now firm and free from doubt and am prepared to act according to Your instructions

In the same way, when King Yuddhishtir heard the words of Grandfather Bhishma he became free from illusion, doubt and lamentation. The lord was showing the world that ‘the message of my devotee, whatever words come out of the lotus mouth of my devotee is even more powerful than my own words.’ He is demonstrating this here in this incident where the lord was so tired trying to explain these things to King Yuddhishtir, but here Grandfather Bhishma got the glory of instructing the King and all who were present there.

Also King Yuddhishtir became peaceful and happy and along with all these happenings, Grandfather Bhishma is now getting ready to leave his body. He will get ready to leave his body now and the way in which he will do leave his body and his situation at this point is a very difficult situation which he is in. There are very few instances of someone leaving their body in such a way because we were singing just yesterday

Itna to karna swami, jab prana tan se nikale
govinda nama leke, tab prana tan se nikale

Translation
Oh Lord, Please do this much, when the soul leaves my body, that I take Your beautiful name of Govinda.

Then we add to the last part, ‘oh lord you too should come at that time to give your darshan and may it be on the bank of the Ganges.’ In those days the river Saraswati used to flow through the Ganges but now it does not flow there. So we can say on the banks of the Saraswati and especially in the presence of lord Krishna, having darshan of the lotus face and the lotus feet and all the limbs of the lord, meditating on the form of the lord, Grandfather Bhishma left his body.

Grandfather Bhishmadeva ki jai! So this was the third time in which Krishna came to Kuruksetra. I will speak a little about the second time the lord went to Hastinapura in the time we have left. This is during the time of the war, when war was still going in and Krishna said that he will be there in the battlefield but he will not fight. So the lord has come there and just see which role he has taken. Krishna has become Partha Sarathi, have you heard this name before?

Partha meaning Arjun and he has become the sarathi, the chariot driver of Arjun. Krishna has become a driver! What can Krishna not become for his devotee. Before this he had also become a messenger and he had gone to Hastinapura to compromise before the war. That time when he went, he had pleaded on behalf of the Pandavas, ‘if you cannot give them half the kingdom then at least give them five villages.’ Krishna had made a suggestion like this but the answer he got was ‘five villages are a lot!

I will not give them the land in which you could fit the point of a needle!’ Then from one viewpoint the lord’s mission was unsuccessful so the only other solution was to have the war. This was all after the Pandavas were exiled to the forest of twelve years, was it twelve or fourteen years? Twelve years yes, lord Rama’s exile was fourteen years and the Pandavas also had to stay incognito, in hiding for a year and the Kingdom of Virat is where they chose to hide, where Krishna and Balaram came to see them.

From there Krishna was asked to go to Hastinapura with the suggestionof the five villages and that is when Duryodhan tried to arrest lord Krishna. What did the lord do? He showed his universal form, ‘try to arrest me. You can’t do anything!’ He had also arranged beforehand a big party and welcome and he wanted to host a meal for the lord, but Duryodhan’s nature was so wicked and he was also so arrogant amd the lord could smell the foul smell of his arrogance.

The lord therefore did not accept the invitation to eat at the place of Duryodhan and in fact the lord left his place. Because the lord is going to soon say in the ninth chapter of the Gita, ‘patram puspam phalam toyam yo me bhaktya prayacchati.’

patram puspam phalam toyam
yo me bhaktya prayacchati
tad aham bhakty-upahrtam
asnami prayatatmanah
(Bhagavad gita 9.26)

Translation
If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit a water, I will accept it

The lord has said in the ninth chapter, ‘patram puspam phalam toyam’ which means vegetarian food. Actually we should not even be taking a vegetarian diet because we need to be
Krishna-tarian. This means that anything we eat shouldn’t be offered to the lord first because the lord is the enjoyer as he has said in the Gita ‘bhoktaram yajna. tapasam’

bhoktaram yajna tapasam
sarva loka mahesvaram
suhrdam sarva bhutanam
jnatva mam santim rcchati
(Bhagavad gita 5.29)

Translation
The sages, knowing Me as the ultimate purpose of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attain peace from the pangs of material miseries

The food, the ingredients should be for the lord’s enjoyment and the when he eats that it becomes Prashad, mercy which is for us. One time lord Krishna went to the home of Vidhura and Vidhura was living in a small little cottage along with Vidhurani, his wife and when Krishna came, well Krishna is like a VVVIP. He is a very, very, very important person and so when the lord came to their little home they both got confused. ‘How shall we welcome the lord properly? Where shall we sit the lord and what can we offer him? What can we offer him to eat?’

At that time, the wife of Vidhura, Vidhurani cut banana skins on a plate instead of the banana. She threw the banana into the dustbin or threw it to one side and instead she kept the skin on the plate and she was cutting that banana skin and feeding it to the lord. When Krishna was eating this he was thinking ‘aaaahh, I have not had a meal like this in my whole life. It is so sweet.’ So we can see what the supreme lord is hungry for. He is hungry for our devotion and our love because the whole world belongs to him, including all the greens and food stuffs he has everything.
He is the one who gives to us all that we have. Eko bahunam yo vidadhati kaman.

nityo nityanam cetanas cetananam
eko bahunam yo vidadhati kaman
tam atmastham ye ‘nupasyanti dhiras
tesam santih sasvati netaresam
(Katha upanisad 2.2.13)

Translation
The Supreme Lord is eternal and the living beings are eternal. The Supreme lord is cognizant and the living beings are cognizant. The difference is that the
Supreme Lord is supplying all the necessities of life for the many other living entities

Krishna is the one who fulfils the desires of everyone, and so what could we actually feed him? Krishna is not hungry but here Vidhurani pleased him by her act of devotion just like Sabari had pleased lord Rama. Who says that the lord does not eat? Of course he does but we do not feed him in the same manner that Sabari or Vidhurani did or how Yashoda used to feed the lord. That is why Krishna may not be eating now.

Mostly people do not eat patram puspam phalam toyam but instead of these vegetables and fruits they are eating mutton and chicken. Hari Hari. This is not the diet for Krishna and this is not the menu for us humans either and this is an abomination. So Krishna has brought Arjun and is reaching Kuruksetra and there is a description in the Gita

tatah shvetairhayairyukte mahati syandane sthitau madhavah pandavashchaiva divyau shankhau pradadhmatuh
(Bhagavad gita 1.14)

Translation
Then, from amidst the Pandava army, seated in a glorious chariot drawn by white horses, Madhav and Arjun blew their Divine conch shells

The lord is driving a great chariot which is being pulled by white horses, shvetair. Sitting on that chariot are Madhava, Krishna and Pandava who is Arjun. Just as they entered the battlefield, divyau shankhau, they both sounded their divine conches. The lord’s conch shell was named Pancajanya, yes there is a name for the conch and Devadattam dhananjayah. Dhananjayah is another name of Arjun’s because he was known as one who could get wealth.

What did Dhananjayah do? He blew his divine conch which was named Devadattam and just as the chariot goes further into the battlefield, Arjun says, ‘let me see who has come here to fight with me! Who can fight with me, who dares to do so?!’ His blood is boiling and he is very enthusiastic to fight and so just as they reach there Arjun says to Krishna senayor ubhayor madhye ratha? sthapaya me ’chyuta

senayor ubhayor madhye ratha? sthapaya me ’chyuta yavadetan nirikshe ’ham yoddhu kaman avasthitan kairmaya saha yoddhavyam asmin rana samudyame
(Bhagavad gita 1.22-22)

Translation
Arjun said: O Infallible One, please take my chariot to the middle of both armies, so that I may look at the warriors arrayed for battle, whom I must fight in this great combat.

So Arjun tells Krishna ‘senayor ubhayor madhye- please take my chariot in between both armies, just take it more forward.’ So Krishna took the chariot forward and put it in between both the armies. If you go even today- have any of you been to Kuruksetra? Put your hand up properly otherwise I cannot see. I know you all have arms but if you have gone then.. Okay some hands are going up. His Holiness Sundar Caitanya Maharaja has also been to Kuruksetra so Kuruksetra dham ki jai!

So that place where Arjun had told Krishna to put his chariot in between both armies, that place now has a chariot and deities of Krishna and Arjun are sitting on that chariot. That chariot is in the exact location of where the chariot was places by Krishna upon Arjun’s request. There is also a tree there which is called Akshayavata.

Krishna’s message of the Gita has not yet started in where I am telling you this story but the message that we know Krishna will tell, that message of the Gita was also heard by this tree. This tree then became immortal and he was a witness and he is there still today, you can see, yes? You are sitting here, but you are taking darshan of that tree so pay your obeisances to the tree and that dham, Kuruksetra.

When Krishna took the chariot in the middle of both armies, the lord began to speak. And whatever I speak today of what Krishna speaks in the Bhagavad gita, this has all been spoken by the lord in the first chapter of Bhagavad gita, so it is only half of what is actually being said. The lord says ‘pasyaitan- look Arjun. You wanted to see who had come here to fight against you didnt you? So see here!’

bhisma drona pramukhatah
sarvesam ca mahi ksitam
uvaca partha pasyaitan
samavetan kurun iti
(Bhagavad gita 1.25)

Translation
In the presence of Bhisma, Drona and all other chieftains of the world, Hrsikesa, the Lord, said, Just behold, Partha, all the Kurus who are assembled here.

Pasyaitan samavetan kurun. It is the Kaurava’s who have come together to fight. When Arjun heard this, he became very much affected and with this Arjun is going to make a U-turn. Before he had a strong desire and so much enthusiasm to fight like a hero but now he will become lax. Gradually Arjun will start saying ‘no no no. You are telling me to fight and that is the reason for us coming here but now mukham ca parisusyati, my throat is drying up. Sidanti mama gatrani, the limbs of my body quivering and gandivam sramsate hastat. My great Gandiva bow is slipping from my hands and you are asking me to fight?

arjuna uvaca
drstvemam sva janam krsna
yuyutsum samupasthitam
sidanti mama gatrani
mukham ca parisusyati
(Bhagavad gita 1.28)

Translation
Arjuna said: My dear K???a, seeing my friends and relatives present before me in such a fighting spirit, I feel the limbs of my body quivering and my mouth drying up.

‘Na ca rajyam sukhani ca, I do not want the Kingdom and hatva sva janam ahave, I do not want to kill my own people, my Kingsmen. Sreyo ’nupasyami, I cannot see how any good can come out of this.’

na ca sreyo ’nupasyami
hatva sva janam ahave
na kankse vijayam krsna
na ca rajyam sukhani ca
(Bhagavad gita 1.31)

Translation
I do not see how any good can come from killing my own kinsmen in this battle, nor can I, my dear K???a, desire any subsequent victory, kingdom or happiness.

Arjun went on and on like this, giving his reasons and at the end Arjun has sat upon the chariot and he has put down his bow and arrow. So this bewildered, confused and sorrowful Arjun needs to be pulled up to stand again. Because one cannot fight whilst sitting down, how is one supposed to fight? By standing up, and if one is sitting then what is to be said to him? ‘Get up!’ Fighting is always done by standing whereas one has a conversation whilst sitting and Arjun is sitting which means?

Anyway, when there is a cart being pulled by a buffalo and there is a big load on that cart and there is a lot of heat on a hot summers day, sometimes the buffalo does not want to pull the cart. Then the farmer or whoever is controlling the buffalo will hit him with a stick so he gets up and then he goes a little further and sits again. Then the farmer will hit him again and so he will go a little further and finally what happens? He sits down and he is saying ‘no more, finished, full stop. I do not want to go further and I do not want to pull this cart!’ So in the same way Arjun sat down and said ‘no war, no fighting.’ Then Krishna speaks his instructions in the Bhagavad gita and in the seventeen chapter especially the lord has said so much and shown so much.

What can be said? Do you all know where Kuruksetra is? It is in the north of Delhi and during the war, Dhritarashtra is sitting in Hastinapura and Sanjaya is there also. So by sitting in Hastinapura, Sanjaya had darshan from far away. It is like a television and he can see what is happening on the battlefield of Kuruksetra whilst sitting in Hastinapura. He is watching the scene and he is even listening to Krishna’s instructions of the Gita.

He is also narrating all this back to Dhritarashtra and he is even having knowledge of what everyone is thinking! Just like he says at the end of the Gita
‘Vyasa-prasadac chrutavan.’

vyasa prasadac chrutavan
etad guhyam aham param
yogam yogesvarat krsnat
saksat kathayatah svayam
(Bhagavad gita 18.75)

Translation
By the mercy of Vyasa, I have heard these most confidential talks directly from the master of all mysticism, Krsna, who was speaking personally to Arjuna

Before the war Srila Vyasadeva had Dhritarashtra and had told him, ‘I can give you sight as you are blind.’ But Dhritarashtra said, ‘oh no no no. I don’t want sight because I will see my sons being killed. Please do not give me vision and do not open my eyes. If you like then you can give Sanjaya this power of attorney.’ That is exactly what happened and honesty is the best policy which is why Sanjaya said at the end of the Gita, Vyasa prasadac.

By the mercy of Vyasa I was able to see and hear all that was happening at Kuruksetra and Sanjaya then narrated everything that was happening on the battlefield to Dhrtarastra whilst sitting in Hastinapura. This Kuruksetra is the place which was ruled once by King Kuru. That is why it is called Kuruksetra, it is the Ksetra, land of Kuru. There was a Kingdom called Kuru close to Kuruksetra and Panchal was also close by.

Panchal is where Draupadi was born and therefore she was known as the daughter of Drupada, Panchali. So both these were both close to each other, it is only recently that they became different states. You can see the map which is five thousand years old and Kuruksetra is in itself a Kingdom also and Panchal is close by, you can see Panchal here. There is also the Kingdom of Kosala close by and also Wardha is there. Five thousand years ago Maharashtra was also there and South India was called Pancha Dravida.

In the sastras, the place we now know as Gujarat was called Gurjaradesa, this is mentioned in the Puranas. Ww cannot say how important Gita is, how great it is. Just like yesterday I was telling you, ‘nigama kalpa taror galitam phalam. Srimad Bhagavatam, the mature fruit of the desire tree of Vedic literatures

nigama kalpa taror galitam phalam
suka mukhad amrta drava samyutam
pibata bhagavatam rasam alayam
muhur aho rasika bhuvi bhavukah
(Srimad Bhagavatam 1.1.3)

Translation
O expert and thoughtful men, relish Srimad Bhagavatam, the mature fruit of the desire tree of Vedic literatures. It emanated from the lips of Sri Sukadeva Goswami. Therefore this fruit has become even more tasteful, although its nectarean juice was already relishable for all, including liberated souls.

In the Bhagavatam it is said that the Gita is also called Gita upanisad. Sarvopanishado gavo, there was a description of the gita where is was said that there was a tree made up of all the scriptures. And in regards to the gita it was said that the cow is made up of all the Upanisads and dogdha gopalanandana. Who is milking the calf? Gopalanandana is Krishna and if there is a cow who is being milked then there must be calf. Parthovatsa, Partha is the Vatsa, the calf.

Sudheerbhoktha, those persons who are intelligent will listen and give attention to the gita. In this way the gita’s milk is described as Amrita, nectar.

sarvopanishado gavo dogdha gopalanandana parthovatsa sudheerbhoktha dugdham gitamrutam mahat
(gita Mahatmya 4)

Translation
The Bhagavad gita is just like a cow, and Lord Krishna who is a cowherd boy, is milking this cow. The milk is the essence of the Vedas, and Arjun is just like a calf. The wise men, the great sages and pure devotees, are to drink the nectarean milk of Bhagavad gita

bharatamrta sarvasvam
visnu vaktrad vinihsrtam
gita gangodakam pitva
punar janma na vidyate
(gita Mahatmya 5)

One who drinks the water of the Ganges attains salvation, so what to speak of one who drinks the nectar of Bhagavad gita? Bhagavad gita is the essential nectar of the Mahabharata, and it is spoken by Lord K???a Himself, the original Visnu.

The lord has given us his mercy in so many ways and the Bhagavad gita is one of the most important gift. It is the lord’s message and as the lord left the earthly planet, he wrote a letter for us and he left that behind. What is that letter? It is the Bhagavad gita and Arjun was made just the via medium for us to receive the instructions of the Gita.

The whole point in the lord reciting the gita was for us, we are the targets for his recitation of Bhagavad gita. This is why we must study Bhagavad gita in this human form of life which we have received with so much different.

ekam sastram devaki putra gitam
eko devo devaki putra eva
eko mantras tasya namani yani
karmapy ekam tasya devasya seva
(Gita-mahatmya 7)

There need be only one holy scripture – the divine Gita sung by Lord Sri Krishna, only one worshipable Lord – Lord Sri Krishna, only one mantra – His holy names, and only one duty – devotional service unto that Supreme worshipable Lord Sri Krishna.

Ekam sastram devaki putra gitam, one scripture is enough, and what is that? Devaki putra gitam, the song of the son of Devaki, that one sastra is enough. Eko devo devaki putra eva, there should be just one God, and anyway that is the case and who is that adi deva? Devaki putra Krishna is the only one lord and that is also sufficient.

One sastra and one lord, then eko mantras tasya namani yani. One mantra for the whole world is sufficient

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare

We all should have one job, only one occupation and what is that? Tasya devasya seva, only the service of the lord should be our work and our life. We must always be ready for performing service of the lord, this is what Bhagavad Gita teaches us, it teaches Bhakti Yoga. The international society of Krishna consciousness ki jai, this is also called Iskcon and it’s founder Acharya is Srila Prabhupada ki jai!

Srila Prabhupada presented the Bhagavad gita and he gave it the name Bhagavad gita as it is, and there is a reason behind why Srila Prabhupada called it this but it will take a lot of time to tell you. Anyway there’s no time but I recommend this Bhagavad gita for all of you and this Bhagavad gita is available in how many languages is gita translated in, Maharaja, do you know?

Seventy or eighty? Oh, Bhagavad gita has been translated in eighty languages! This includes Chinese and Swahili for Africans, Hebrew and this one and that one. In eighty languages. And the local devotees of each of these countries are distributing the Bhagavad gita to the people of each country. Devotees are joining and that is why it must be called Bhagavad gita as it is.

Arjun became free from his illusion and he then became ready in his service to the lord, in the same way by reading this Bhagavd gita, thousands and millions of people in over one hundred countries are coming to serve the lord! This is a fact and even in China they have stopped eating mutton and chicken and even rats, they eat everything including rats. I went there a few years back and I found out that they have bread there but which type of bread?

Ant bread, made out of ants and they showed me many fields, ‘this is a red any field and this is a white ant field, this is that kind of field’ and so one kind of ants are put into a certain bread and different ants are put to make a different bread. Whoever will eat this bread is certainly not a human being but a demon. This is why people are becoming diseased and Yuhuan in China is where Covid 19 started.

Then they spread this Covid throughout the whole world and then then the poor Chinese people themselves got it infected. Anyway we pray for the many persons who are losing their lives. We are made from the food we eat and you will think accordingly to what you eat. They say ‘you are what you eat.’ Our body is made of whatever we eat but along with this, the mind is also influenced by what we eat.

Depending on whether we are eating in the mode of ignorance, passion or goodness, we become as such body and mind. It’s a big topic and the three modes of material nature make up one whole chapter of the Bhagavad gita and it is very important. So all if you please be sure to read Bhagavad gita and the Bhagavad gita is here also for you to take. I also thought to speak upon this topic today because in this month of December the lord spoke the Bhagavad gita.

We also know the day, it was on the day of Mokshada Ekadasi and at what time if the day did Krishna speak the Gita? At seven o clock in the morning, at the time of sunrise. The Mahabharata war was a righteous war, so from sunrise it would begin until sunset when it would end daily. So in this way the supreme lord spoke these instructions in the morning at Kuruksetra. Our spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada had also gone there to Kuruksetra in 1975 to see some land and open an Iskcon temple there.

At that time the Prime Minister of India was Gulzarilal Nanda and he was only the Prime Minister for a short time and he became friends with Prabhupada. He had shown Prabhupada this land at Kuruksetra and now I remembered something, as Srila Prabhupada came to Vrindavan from Kuruksetra, the next day Srila Prabhupada on the 6th of December 1975 gave me Sannyasa initiation (shouts of Haribol)!

You are all looking at my Danda, please dont be scared that ‘Maharaja has a Danda.’ It is there for your protection and so Srila Prabhupada gave me a Danda and made me a Tridandi Sannyasi as he returned from Kuruksetra. The eighteenth chapter is called ‘Sannyasa Yoga’ and in this very Kuruksetra there is now an Iskcon temple being constructed called ‘Sri Sri Krishna Arjun Mandir.’

It will look something like this and it the temple inauguration is going to happen in maybe a year or so it could happen. Also this Bhagavad gita is being distributed throughout the world and it has already been distributed to literally ten million people. In China, in America, in Africa, everywhere. The people of those countries are becoming Krishna devotees by reading Bhagavad gita and then they’re distributing Bhagavad gita.

So you all take Bhagavad gita as it is, many people take Bhagavad gita as it is and they keep it somewhere in their home as it is. ‘I have Bhagavad gita as it is and it is still as it was when I bought it.’ So do not just take it home and leave it as it is but open it and please read. When you read it the lord will talk to you, okay I think we have a short clip to show about changing bodies. We are always changing bodies and going from one body to another. The lord has said dehino ’smin yatha dehe
kaumaram yauvanam jara

dehino ’smin yatha dehe
kaumaram yauvanam jara
tatha dehantara praptir
dhiras tatra na muhyati
(Bhagavad 2.13)

Translation
As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change

Vasamsi Jirnani

First – hand experience of “vasamsi jirnani”

vasansi jirnani yatha vihaya
navani grihnati naro ’parani

This body is called a cloth “vasamsi jirnani yatha vihaya”.

Many years ago I had a small accident and had an injury on my head. I went to the hospital, so (taka) stitching, what you people call it? Stitching right? The doctor came with a needle and thread. At that time I realized, “vasamsi jirnani yatha vihaya” This body is like a cloth. When clothes are torn you stitch them. It’s also said “stitch in time, saves the nine.”

If there is a small hole, it should be stitched quickly or it will increase. So the doctor came and he stitched the torn part. I was observing what all he was doing. Then I was convinced, first hand experience “vasamsi jirnani yatha vihaya.”

Balram Purnima

Balram Purnima Lecture by HH Lokanath Swami Maharaj
Date 12.08.2022
Place : Sri Dham Vrindavan

My Greeting of Balaram Purnima Mahostav to you all, you please accept my greetings.
Gauranga.

Deenbandhu Prabhu ki Jai!!! He is naturally the devotee of Balaram, Krishna Balaram. He told many-many great stories of Balaram, Krishna Balaram. Specially Balaram. Sometimes I think that Deenbandhu is our ISKCON’S Panda. Panda also means Pandit. So Deen Bandhu is Panda and Pandit, the great devotees unto Lord, sharing the pastimes of Krishna, Balaram, this is second nature . I am just a visitor, I am just trying to find the great devotees of Balaram. Please pray for me, so that I never say that something worthwhile and glories of balaram* atama and Pratama in present context. Infact, Balaram.. I m atama.. “Bal deene labhyata” means balheen, who is without power or powerless, attain and realise I am Mahatama. Atama can be, but Pramatma cannot be . but those who are powerless. Without power you can not realise Atama and Permatma. How so there’s a nonsense. By exercising you become powerful. Its nonsense interpretation. Without power you can realise atama aur pratama. Infect Balram strength including Buddhi Bal, so we pray , I was praying to you, please that you please pray for me, so we could all pray, including me to Balaram, so that he gives us spiritual strength, dad?mi buddhi-yoga?(BG 10.10) give us buddhi the intelligence ta?yena m?m upay?nti te so that we could attain him realise him, where is my Bhagawatam, okay, I also said “Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevya” I was not sure whether I should say, not say. But that “Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevya means our obeisances to son of Vesudev, is Vasudev, why is Vasudev called Vasudev because he is son of Vasudev, so normally we think “Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevya”, he is Krishna, we are offering our obeisances unto Krishna, but Is Krishna the only Vasudevya, by these definitions son of Vasudev is Vasudev. So Vasudev had not only Krishna as his son but Balaram also, so when we chant this prayer “Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevya”, we are offering our obeisances unto Krishna as well as Balaram just remember that , so then I thought let’s offer this prayer. “Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevya”well then we did go through that Krishna Kanhiya- Dau ji ka bhiya, Krishna Kanhiya- Dau ji ka Bhiya, so that was also relevant the way to chant the glories of Balaram, Krishna Kanhiya – well then I also was thinking – well thinking

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare

I don’t know any song or Bhajan of Balaram to sing at the beginning of the talk on Balaram. So then I also we all did, we chanted Hare Krishna

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare

And that is also certainly most relevant for this occasion of Balaram’s appearance because the Ram, “the Ram” in Hare Krishna Mahamantra is who is that Ram, who is that Ram, that is Balaram. You may say Krishna but Krishna is Balaram, that we will be talking about. Hari Hari.

So Hare Krishna and Hare Ram, so this is Krishna and Balaram from or when they will, they say the mantra a little differently, they say

Radhe Krishna Radhe Krishna Krishna Krishna Radhe Radhe
Radha Raman Radha Raman Raman Raman Radha Radha

So one is Krishna, One is Raman and this Raman is Balaram, Krishna also, Balaram also, Hari Hari, because both of them were doing Raman in Raman Reti, right, we are in Raman Reti right now, the address of this temple, Krishna Balaram temple is Raman Reti Vrindavan. We can’t say UP because Vrindavan is not in UP, it is another subject matter but Raman, Raman. So I just turned to Hari Hari. So first Balaram appeared, right, then Krishna appeared, that is also said.

putran prasusuve castau
kanyam caivanuvatsaram
(SB. 10.1.56)

This is Srimad Bhagawatam, 10th canto, chapter 1 that Devaki was giving birth, she gave birth to eight children, one child per year. So Krishna was going to be 8th child and Balaram was the seventh one. So Krishna has not appeared yet, he is up there in Golok.

Golok eva nivasaty abhilatma bhuto
(brahma Samhita)

So there in Golok, Krishna said “gacche devi vrajam bhadre” , “Gopa gobhir alankrtam”(SB 10.2.7) Krishna is addressing Haribol “yogmaya”Yognindra is around, Hari Hari. So Krishna said, addressed to Yogmaya. Yogmaya “Yes Sir”. I have assignment for you. What is it? Go to Vrindavan and Krishna mediates which Vrindavan, what kind of Vrindavan.

gopa gobhir alankrtam
(SB 10.2.7)

That beautiful Vrindavan, Vrindavan which is beautified because of the presence of Gopas and gopis. “gopa gobhir alankritam” to that Vrindavan, you go okay, Tatastu, I will go. What is my assignment? And Krishna said he is staying up there in the Golok.

rohini vasudevasya bharyaste nandagokule (10.2.7)

well there is more into that

anyas ca kamsa samvigna
vivaresu vasanti hi
(10.2.7)

Vasudev has many wives, of course Devaki is with him in the prison house, (anyas), the others were in another places and specially mentioned Rohini, Rohini these days is residing in Gokul. Okay why are you telling me all this or about Rohini and other queens of Vasudev residing other kind or safe keeping due to safety reasons, you stay here, you stay there anyway I have to go faster.

devekya jathare grabham
sesakhyam dhama mamkam
(SB 10.2.8)

And Krishna said further “sesakhyam Naam dhama mamkam” my dham, In Devaki’s womb the 7th child is there right now and who is that? Sesaakhyam, his name is sesa (anantsesh). So what I have to do.

tat sannikrsya rohinya
udare sannivesaya
(10.2.8)

So you go there and like a, this technology doesn’t exist, we have transplantation and this plantation, that plantation, kidney plantation but this womb, womb plantation from one womb to another womb, transfer the child from Devaki womb’s to Rohini’s womb. This technology doesn’t exist but it existed and event then eternally in the spiritual sky. Spiritual sky is a way ahead this mundane scientist down here in this material world, okay so that was assignment for Yogmaya and then and there Krishna also this kind of

garbha-sa?kar?a??t ta? vai
pr?hu? sa?kar?a?a? bhuvi
r?meti loka-rama??d
balabhadra? balocchray?t
(SB 10.2.13)

In fact after Krishna and Balaram’s appearance day, Gargmuni is going to be travelling to Gokul and conduct name giving ceremony and, but Krishna is already naming that, that child, that you will be transferring to Rohini’s womb name of their child would be Sankarshan and Balaram and Ram, has already done the name giving ceremony before even the child is born. So we don’t have details of Krishna’s birthday’s celebrations in Bhagavatam. The is one word or one sentence and then he was born, phobia finished but kindly Gargmuni, he has shared description he was right there in Mathura Vrindavan those days, so he has kindly in his Garg Samhita where Krishna’s birthday and other pastimes he has described, so we would like to clear, If I succeed with this Haribol. (I may be needing help I am not familiar with this thing) so this is Garga Uvacha, he is not saying but he is writing Garga Acharya, he is writing, you would like to hear, you have interest, you have keen interest and you have faith in Gargacharya’s words, these are not my words, you may not have faith in me but you better have faith in Gargacharya.

devakyah saptame garbhe

he is also talking, I just remember something that the Krishna seemed to be kind of, you want to hurry up, he is in Gokul but he is in hurry to come down and enter the womb of Devaki and soon take birth, so hence he is also asking his yogmaya, you, you hurry up, you hurry up, you hurry up, you vacate that womb, make room for me I am standing in the queue but unless Balaram is out of there I cannot get in there. So please rush and transfer them. I will be the next one. so Saptame Garbhe.

devakyah saptame garbhe
harse soka vivardhane
vrajam pranite rohinyam
anante yogmayaya
(verse 25)

So this anant seshsakhyam, he has been transferred to Rohini’s womb.

aho garbhahkva vigagta
ity uchr Mathura janah
(Verse 26)

Gargacharya is writing, as the child was transferred or shifted their relocated there is a big wonder. Mathura vasi’s says what happened to this 7th child “kva vighah”, where did he go, üchar mathura janah” of course rumour also was spread that miscarriage, miscarriage happened. So there in as Balaram was ready to make his appearance on this day, some 5000 years ago, 5000 plus few hundred plus some years ago

suresu varsatsu su puspa varsam(verse 28)

So the demigods have arrived, as they have arrived in Mathura Mandal before Krishna’s appearance, this time Balaram is going to be appearing in Gokul. Gokul Balaram’s birthplace, Balaram’s birth place “Gokul”, when you go to Nand Bhavan those panda’s they remind you, Balaram’s birthplace, Balaram’s birthplace, so demigods are doing “su puspa varsam” they are showering flowers. “ ghanesu muncatsu ca vari bindum” and the clouds have arrived as this rainy season time, clouds are ready to go and at that time, the clouds have arrived and “vari bindum” they are dropping some rain drops not, yeah a little rain is there.

nandu’pi kurvan chisu jata karama (verse 29)

and Nand Maharaj, as child has appeared he did the “jata Krama”the samsakara, the first one as the child takes birth, that is called “ Jata Karma”and “dadau dvijebhyo niyutam gavam ca” and he has given lots of cows in, as gifts to the Brahmans “gopan samahuya” the gopas have assembled in big number “su gayakanam” they are all singing. We should also sing “su swagatam Balaram, su swagatam Balaram” , “su swagatam Balaram, su swagatam Balaram”.

Okay that’s, that’s enough finished don’t get instruments ready. So they are chanting different chants and songs and glorifying Balaram, welcoming Balaram “sarvair maha mangalam atanoti “ and by this chanting there is all auspiciousness spread all around.

Deupayanodevrata Vashishta mayacha-

And Vayasdev has appeared dev devrata Vashishta mayacha- Narad muni talking – Me too was also there. Narad muni is sharing this .. He is the speaker of this narration. Aagvatya tataiva samasito and as we arrived it was a big welcome by Nanda Maharaj Nandha hirtya Prasanha and they pleased us, Nand Maharaja pleased us with all hospitality and foot bathing , garlanding, aasans offered and some water to drink at least that’s part of the reception
Sri-nando uvaca and then the Nand Maharaj addressed the assembled sages headed by Srila Vasudev Maharaja and Nand Maharaj says

sundaro balakah ko yam
na drsyo yat-samah kvacit

Ohh, the beautiful, beautiful boy has taken birth. I had never ever seen any child beautiful like this one tan me bhruhi maha mune we are wondering who he, is where did he come from he wasn’t in the womb of Devaki for not for very long i think if i am correct that is what he is saying Katham Panca dinaj jatas he was there only for five days and then he appeared. no child takes birth in within five days being in womb for five days but this child appeared in five days and we don’t know the origin the source of this child. this is all mysterious thing and this has become talk of the town of Gokul. Everywhere everyone is wondering where has this child come from, so please Bruhi explain please clarify.

sri -vyasa uvacha meaning what Vyas was the meaning vayas said there is something for you to think about and stay awake also .

aho bhagyam tut te nanda
sisuh sesah sanatanah

oh,you are very fortunate the child that you are talking about is is sesah sanatanah. you understand right. there’s no need of translation.we should be ready or come to that kind of level of understanding so there’s no need of translation of anantha and sanatanah and something cannot be translated as Deenbandhu. As he said and when you translate you really lose a lot of meaning or deeper meaning of that.Bhagawan doesn’t mean god.Bhagawan is Bhagwan. you cannot say Bhagawan as god and NO final translation of bhagwan is god. When you say Bhagawan, you understand so much that word itself, the name itself,Bhagwan itself says everything about bhagawan. you cannot say as a god, I don’t like that..

Vayasdev glorifying sanatan Devakyam vasudevasya Jatoyam Mathura-pure. he had appeared first in Mathura as a child of Vasudev and Devaki and he has been Krsnecchaya tad udarat.(you could understand now here what krishna had asked, yogmaya to do.so that is what srila vyasadev is explaining Krsnecchaya tad udarat. this was a desire of krishna and instruction also.

Pranitp rohinim subham That he was transferred from Devaki’s womb to Rohini’s womb. oh now we understand, thank you and then on behalf of all the assembled rishis and munis (then I don’t have to say sages and mankinds)Srila vayasdev said, you know we have come here for nothing.you know this we have come to take darshan of that child.
Darsanartham- we have come here to take darshan of that child.

Tasmat tvam darsayasmakam
Sisu-rupam parat param

so please please give us darshan, give darshan to all of us of your child.sisu -rupam parat param. we are expecting the beauty the form, extraordinary for, excellent beauty of the child. please please hurry up, let’s go, let’s go, please bring us to the child. so he’s giving run commentary. So he comes on the scene.

Sri Narada uvacha
Atha nandah sisum sesam
Darsayam asa vismitah
drttva prenkha sthitam praha
natva satyavati-sutah

sothey all go where the child was and where was the child? he was in a cradle or Palana which is decorated, beautifully decorated. As they saw the child, wish me thought you were amazed. You may also be amazed.Right. if we are following the description here huh, then but in fact this narration is giving us or making us part of that birthday. the first first first birthday first birthday now is the 5, 000 birthday .there was the first birthday, we are being given a tour of that day and description of that day. says we read we should be thinking that, I’m there, I’m there,….. I’m… I’m… I’m there. Where is Balarama now?Where is Balarama?Where is Balaram, if you are there? are you seeing him. why not ? this Garg Samhita is showing us Balarama. and as they were amazed to see that shishu the child natwa Satyavi sutah. What did they all of do. They offered their obeisances dandwat prnaam Jai Balram.

Atleast in our minds could be offering our obeisances. Right.. This is right thing to do. If we are becoming Balarama conscious by wrong conscious..
“devadhideva bhagwan” Now they have seen the child. Offered him obeisance, now they’re offering prayers
Sri vyasa uvacha
“Devadhideva bhagwan
Kama -pala namo stu te”

They’re not only offered physically, they are doing dandvat pranam but now they’re also saying that we are we offer our obeisance to you Balarama. ‘’ Krishna Jinka naam hai, Balaram Jinka naam hai, Gokul jinka dham hai. Aise shri bhagwan ko maira barambaar prnaam hai”. You are Bhagwan. DevadhidevaYou are Gods of Gods. You are Ishwar of Ishwar. you are Parmeshwar ‘’Namo nantaya sesaya ‘’. You are Anantshesh.“Saksad-ramaye ten amah “.And you are Balaram. Please accept our obeisance.

‘’Sahasra-sirase nityam Namah sankarsanaye ch”

Hari Hari Bol. “Shravanam matrena” Just By hearing we could realize Krishna And Balarama but if we do not hear we miss the bus.Right, we miss everything, we miss everything. Jai Balarama.

“Sahasra-sirase nityam “ means Sahasra Vadan. One with a thousand mouths , thousand hoods.“Namah sankarsanaya te’’
Halayudhah pralaba-ghnah, pahi mam purusottama.

Balarama is Haladhar.Krishna is holding this that and he becomes giridhar, Venudhar and Balarama what is the holding, what is he holder of ? “Haladhar. Deenbandhu” was talking about Haladhar. “Halayudhah” and you use that hala also as aayudh as a weapon. “Pahi mam purusottama” some of these terms “pahimam.. Pahimam.. Pahimam..
“Krishna Keshav Krishna Keshav Krishna Keshav Pahi Mam Rakashmam.”

We have to learn these terms. So Pahiman. “well Vyasadeva is saying.Should we also be saying this or no need for us? we are okay. If are you okay then you don’t have to say pahimam but if you are in trouble .As Prabhupada said now I have given you Krishna Balarama and you could approach him and say sir I’m in trouble. please help. that purpose is pahimam. Pahimam. could you say pahimam? “Pahimam purusottama pahi mam.” like that they have offered lots of prayers .

“Kalindi-bhedano si tvam”
Hastinapura-karsakah
Dvividarir yadavendro
Vraja-mandala-mandanah”

(verse 41)
-and you could see I think .Just a thought came to my mind- He has not even appeared and vasudev who’s this uh yeah. Vyasadeva he’s already talking of . you will be doing this, you will be known .. you’ll be…. uh you will be holding this weapon, that weapon so “Kalindi-bhedano si tvam”. One day you will be on the banks of Kalindi, wanting to perform rasa dance and you will be interested of course

“Yamuna tira vanchari” do your wanderings or dance right on the bank of the river but yamuna is kind of a distance and you are not happy about it and then you would use your hala and you … “ Yamuna”.You rascal and you’ll be dragging her. what is that place ?“Ramghat.Rohini Nandan” Jai Ram Ghat! Jai Rohini Nandan. Jai Ram Ghat. There are so many ghats . one of the very famous ghat on the banks of Jamuna is Ramghat. This is named after Balarama. this is where he performed his rasa dance past times one time. this also,.. I mean (I don’t maybe if I get time, I’ll say that little later) “Brajmandala mandanaha” and by your appearance and performances of many pastimes you’ll be enhancing the beauty of Braj and like that.

Kamsa-bhratr-prahatasi
Tirtha-yatrakarah prabhuh
“Duryodhana-guruh saksat
Pahi pahi prabho jagat
(Verse 42)

I’m just jumping skipping lots of glories here. you are, you are Duryodhana guru. Not you are, but you will be. he will be Duryodhana Guru. he just just born today. He took birth today but he’s talking about his pastimes, Balrama’s past times. The kaliya pastime. The day kaliya Daman pastimes took place, that also was Balarama’s birthday. Kaliya is not Kaliyada is not far from here. that day Balaram had not accompanied Krishna and the coward boys. he was kept behind by Yashoda and Rohini. yyou today is vacation for you . Today is your birthday so there are festivities all day long. it’s very nice Bhoga offerings and bathing and abhishek and dressing was all happening in Nandgram . krishna was just few years, maybe six -seven years old and Balarama was…, it was a birthday, so Balarama had stayed behind and Krishna was by himself with the coward boys. Just to remind you that they were celebrating Balrama’s birthdays during the manifest past times of Balarama and Krishna. Whenever Balarama is not around. what happens? Krishna gets into trouble. There was lots of trouble that day because Balarama was not around and this had happened many several times we know from the past times of Krishna and Balarama. “Pahi pahi prabho jagat.

Balam balam parikramyashatam prayante” and finally, well finally they had to stop somewhere right some some time . so they ,they did parikrama of Balarama “Yanikani chapapani brahmhataydi kani cha, pradikshana pade pade” They did parikrama of Balarama. Again offering obeisances “Satyavati suto ya yo”. That is Vyasadev along with all assembled sages departed and that is how the first birthday was celebrated in Gokul. Gokul Dham ki Jai! Our Krishna Balarama ki jai!

His birthday is in month of April in 1975. At the request of Srila Prabhupad Krishna Balarama appeared here on ram navmi in fact, that was Ram Navmi of 1975. I wasn’t there when Balarama appeared in Gokul some 5 000 years ago… But when this Krishna Balarama appeared I was there Haribol ! (Maybe you were there 5000 years ago[Someone else saying] NO..can’t say. how do you know? )So that was quite a celebration. Appearance of Krishna and Balarama which we witnessed and as he was appearing or he has appeared as the sages. We are offering their prayers and worshiping Balarama for us Srila Prabhupada was offering . He offered Aarti’s and prayers. And we were fortunate to attend to be present during appearance of krishna and Balrama .( someone asked- Is they appeared today again?) Jai. Shree Krishna Balram ki Jai. They appeared at every moment. Today are appeared. They are here. Haribol. Take Note- Lord playing their pastimes around here as the part of their Nityalila eternal. Pastimes on their eternal lila or their Prakat lila. I want to say this that… Prakat lila also started as Krishna and Balaram appeared here in 1975 on Ram Navmi day. Then our Krishna Balarama’s prakata lila began. We are allowed to be part of that manifest or prakat lila pastimes. Sri Krishna Balrama ki Jai!!!
They are giving us a opportunity to seve and do everything for them.

man-man? bhava mad-bhakto mad-y?j? m?? namaskuru
m?m evai?hyasi yuktvaivam ?tm?na? mat-par?ya?a?
( shri mad bhagwatgeeta 9.34)

Meaning-
Always think of Me, be devoted to Me, worship Me, and offer obeisance to Me. Having dedicated your mind and body to Me, you will certainly come to Me.

I mean we have come to Vrindavan, but we wish to enter Krishna Balaram’s Nitya lila, their past times, their eternal past times but prior to that we in order to rest of us to become eligible. so that we could enter srill Prabhupada has made this provision by giving us, making Krishna Balaram manifest here and do their prakatikaran and then we are brought from all the world ,Prabhupada’s mercy. we have made Bhagywaan.

brahm???a bhramite kona bh?gyav?n j?va
guru-k???a-pras?de p?ya bhakti-lat?-b?ja
(CC Madhaya lila 19.151)

Translation-
“According to their karma, all living entities are wandering throughout the entire universe. Some of them are being elevated to the upper planetary systems, and some are going down into the lower planetary systems. Out of many millions of wandering living entities, one who is very fortunate gets an opportunity to associate with a bona fide spiritual master by the grace of K???a. By the mercy of both K???a and the spiritual master, such a person receives the seed of the creeper of devotional service.

Srila Prabhupada Introduced us to Krishna in service of krishna Balrama and then he asked us to do this.

man-man? bhava mad-bhakto mad-y?j? m?? namaskuru

I was just reminded. I was given sannyas right here in courtyard of Krishna Balarama temple in December of 1975. After we took sannyas Sridhara swami and Prithu Putra swami and Lokanath swami then we went into his quarter and asking for name s of us or any changes in our name so what would be our names. Srila Prabhupada said, “Add Swami to your names.” These days we get some fancy names bro. Simplified, “add swami to your names.” Then we asked, “Any special Instructions?”

Then Prabhupada said. Or one time what he said to us, He was going to say and to introduce what he was going to say. Srila Prabhupada said, “We follow four regulative principles. So devotees are expecting , Oh Prabhupada is going to say, What, “No Meat eating.” We are expecting follow four regulative principles and one time Prabhupada said we follow four regulative principles and then he said, “one man mana, two- bhava mad bhakta, three- madyaji, four- mam namaskuru.” Four relative principals. So while we were taking sannyasan. Prabhupada also give us this instruction. Any special instructions Srila Prabhupada give us?

man-man? bhava mad-bhakto mad-y?j? m?? namaskuru

So I think that is what we had to do. Follow these instruction. That Krishna’s instructions and Prabhupada repeated those instructions so for the pleasure of in service of Krishna and Balarama.
(How much time do I have? Huu.. so is it 10 minutes?) Hari Hari. Are you ready? So many things to say. I wish I had a thousands mouths but lucky, unlucky I have only one mouth.

Serv avatari Krishna bhagwan. I am talking little bit of Tattava. Lord has to be understood tattavatah.

Janma Karma ca me divyam
Evam yo vetti tattvatah
Tyaktya deham punar janma
Naiti mam eti so arjuna
(Shri mad bhagwat geeta 4.9)
“Sidhhant baliya citte na kara alasa” talking of sidhhant, talking of tattav, Donot be lazy, be enthusiastic. Repeat Siddhant or tatwa over again and again and again . Haribol.( because sleeping is going on) In CC adi lia where Krishna das kaviras talking about Panchtatva. Then he talking of Gaur tatwa, then talking of Nityanand tatwa. He has reached chapter fifth and there he says,

“ Sarva-avatari Krsna Svayam Bhagavan
Tanhara dvitiya deha sri-balarama”
(CC Adi lila 5.4)

We wish we had just understood what was read, no need of translation and it is beautiful meaningful Krishnadas Kaviraj wrote.

Krsna sarva-avatari, svayam Bhagavan, tanhara dvitiya deha sri-balarama.

Is another body, is another form,Krishna’s another form is Balarama. Svayam Bagavan. In Vrindavan he appears in two forms. One is Krishna’s form, another one is Balaram form.

Sei Krishna navadvipe sriCaitanya Chandra.
Sri Balarama-sange Sri Nityananda.
(CC Adi Lila 5.6)

Same Krishna in Navdweep appears as Chaitanya Chandra and same Balaram appeared as Nityanand in Navadvipe in Gaur desh. Well he was, during that day Krishns Balarama appeared. Deities installation took place. Prabhupada also made this point. Yes Krishna Balrama and Gaur Nitai in the same alter here and he said I want to make a point or get this message that Krishna Balaram are non different from Gaur Nitai.

Krishna on this altar, the Krishna Balrama alter is Gauranga and Balaram is in this alter as Nityanand. Gauranga Nityanand. Gauranga Nityanand. Nityanand- Gauranga, Nityanand-Gauranga. So thid goes on in Navdweep. What goes in Vrindavan..

Krishna Kanhaiya dauji ka bhaiya. Dauji ka bhaiya, Krishna Kanhaiya. So they are one and the same. Hari Hari. It is said, I cannot tell you where it is said but it is said that form, the right side of Krishna, Balaram appeared and left side of Krishna who appeared Radharani.. so these two are two appearances of Krishna. And they are non-different from Krishna. Balarama is not different from Krishna and Radharani is non-different from Krishna. And talking of brush these are the three personalities in fact. That top and there is no one equal.

Na anyat kinchit asiti Dhanjaya and then I was thinking. And I think my thought is philosophically correct. Also I had talked about this earlier that the Maha Mantra that

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

These three personalities of braj van daven. Vrindavan dham ki Jai. They are mentioned in Maha Mantra. Hare is Radha. Krishna is Krishna. Rama is balarama. Hari Hari. So Gauranga and Nityanand Prabhu, they are one and the same and glory of one is the glory of the other one also. Since the very beginning of Caitanya bhagwat, Vrindavan das thakur he chanted his prayers

ajanu-lambita-bhujau kanakavadatau
sankirtanaika-pitarau kamalayataksau
visyambharau dvija-varau yuga-dharma-palau
vande jagat Priya karau karunavatarau
(Caitanya Bhagwat)

Avatarau.. are you listening to this au.. why this au..au.. ajanu-lambita-bhujau…au.. what for au.. because this prayer is talking and addressing about two personalities.. Gauranga and Nityanand. In the same breath, we could say in the same breath. Gauranga Nityananda in same prayer. One Prayer for notification of Gauranga and Nityanand because they are not two. They are one. The prayer the au, au is their mention. But they are they are one and the same. So likewise to wind up, I was .. we came across well I mean it is there in Srimad-bhagwatam in chapter 38 in 10th Canto. When went to Vrindavan. Did he go to, did he come to loi Bazaar, Vrindavan. No, ofcourse not. He went to Nand Gram and riding the chariot. He has gone and he was anticipating darshan of…. (Haribol.. Krishna Balaram ki Jai) as he arrived Krishna Balram were right there.. He was right here.. Haribol…

Krishna Balaram ki Jai!!!
Gaur Premanande Hari Hari Bol!!!
Srila Prabhupada ki Jai!!!
Balaram Purnima Mahosatva ki Jai!!!

Govardhana Puja Katha

GOVARDHANA PUJA KATHA
16 October 2022

Giriraja Govardhana ki, Jai!
Sacinandana Sawmi Maharaja ki, jai!
Not only we welcome Maharaja but we worship Maharaja too. Krsna instructed that we worship Govardhana but also to worship the brahmanas and the cows.

namo brahmanya devaya
gobrahmana hitayaca
jagad-dhitaya krsanaya
govindaya namo namah

Translation
‘Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto Lord krsna, who is the worshipable Deity for all brahminical men, who is the well-wisher of cows and brahmanas, and who is always benefiting the whole world. I offer my repeated obeisances to the Personality of Godhead, known as Krsna and Govinda.’ [CC Madhya 13.77].

We have Sacinandana Swami, a brahmana, every year on Govardhana Puja day. So this is becoming like a nitya lila. Maharaja is always here and gives us association and, of course, for we to honour him. He is one of the imported brahmanas.Srila Prabhupada was known for being importer and exporter.

I introduced Srila Prabhupada in Delhi on one occasion and Prabhupada had liked it. I said that Prabhupada is the exporter of Krsna consciousness to the foreign land. Then he imports American brahmanas and German brahmanas and vaisnavasin India.

I came in contact with Hare Krsna movement for the first time in Bombay. That festival was promoted all over Bombay. And one part of the advertisement was, “American sadhus are in town, European sadhus are in town”. We were surprised and we were wondering,“really”? And I said that American scientists are okay but American sadhus we have never heard before. But I did visit that festival and by seeing those American and European sadhusI was convinced that yes, they were sadhus. So this is the glories of Srila Prabhupada and also the devotees of Lord Gauranga from all around the world.

This American, German are all nonsense business. This is illusion in fact. Prabhupada has given us a family or he has made the whole worldinto onefamily. We have assembled here to celebrate Govardhana Puja. I thought we could understand about who we,assembled here, are. And Sacinandana Swami Maharaja is also here. Of course, we have devotees from all over the planet here. So we are one family.Vasudeva kutumbakam, everyone in this planet is a part of this family.

5000 years ago on this day, at the foothill of Giriraj Govardhana, precisely, at Anniyor village, Govardhana Puja celebration took place. All of them were Vrajavasis. We have assembled hereby Srila Prabhupada’s divine arrangement to celebrate Giriraj Govardhana Puja. We are Vrajavasisor we are becoming Vrajavasis or Srila Prabhupada is making us Vrajavasisagain. So, we thank God and thank Guru and Gauranga. Today, those who are here, we are nowhere else but in Vraja. We are being taken aroundVraja mandala darsana.

This is the month of Kartika with so many festivals. Just yesterday was the Damodara pastime day. This month is full of festivities that I cannot even make a list. Ananta lilaya devaya tubhyam, the pastimes of the Lord are unending. Each pastime is a festival. Every step is a dance in Vraja and every word is a song. So today is a very special and extraordinary festival.

We are also thankful for Maharaja providing all the details, blow by blow. As we were hearing, Maharaja was kind of painting a picture and his audio was turning into video for us. Maharaja transported us back into history of 5000 years ago. This gap from today and then was diminished or nullified. That is what is expected when we hear.sravanam kirtanam visnoh smaranam, what we hear we remember or by hearing we remember. And when we remember we are there. Remember meaning going back.

During the namakaran ceremony, whatNanda Maharaja had said is something to take note of.

ya etasmin maha-bhagah

Translation
Demons [asuras] cannot harm the demigods, who always have Lord Visnu on their side. Similarly, any person or group attached to Krsna is extremely fortunate. Because such persons are very much affectionate toward Krsna, they cannot be defeated by demons like the associates of Kamsa[or by the internal enemies, the senses].[SB 10.8.18]

Translation
In conclusion, therefore, O Nanda Maharaja, this child of yours is as good as Narayana. In His transcendental qualities, opulence, name, fame and influence, He is exactly like Narayana. You should all raise this child very carefully and cautiously. [SB 10.8.19]

Garga acarya said, “if you were in trouble, oh Nanda Maharaja and residents of Vrndavana, all you have to do is approach your son.”

esa vah sreya adhasyad

Translation
To increase the transcendental bliss of the cowherd men of Gokula, this child will always act auspiciously for you. And by His grace only, you will surpass all difficulties. [SB 10.26.19]

“Whatever type of great difficulties you may be facing, this boy, Krsna, will take care of it. And those manava, those human being, those who love this child Krsna, klesa nasayaparamananda dayine, those persons will be made free from all the difficulties.

On the Govardhana Puja day is a demonstration of what Nanda Maharaja had heard from Garga Acarya. As we heard from Maharaj all the residents of Vrndavana were put through a big trial and turbulationand Indra was the cause behind all that. Nanda Maharaja remembered what Garga Acarya had said during the name giving ceremony. All the residents, headed by Nanda Maharaja, ran to Krsna asking for protection, “please protect!”

Krsna krsna krsna krsna krsna krsna pahi mam
Krsna krsna krsna krsna krsna krsna raksa mam

Krsna told them to follow Him and come that way and did not share what He was going to do. Then they all went to Giriraj Govardhana. They asked why did He bring them there. The next thing that Krsna did was beyond the imagination of all the residents of Vrndavana. The Lord put His handbeneath Giriraj. His hand becoming longer and longer, reaching and touching the centre of Giriraj from underneath. Giriraj has the heaviest body in Vraja by 16 feet tall and 41His circumference. Krsna threw Giriraj up in the airthenheld it on His little finger, just like a child throwing a ball up in the air and catching it.

The pastime of Krsna lifting Govardhana did not happened today. Today is the puja day and there was annakuta. The offerings that were made to Giriraj was as huge as Giriraj. Anna means food and kuta means mountain. That was not satisfying, that’s why anniyor, bring more. I was just there, yesterday, at Anniyorvillage and did parikrama in the car. Then Lord had appeared, “shilo asmi,I am Govardhana hill! I am Govardhana!”

Then Krsna asked, “just see, you have been worshiping Indra for years. Did you ever seen him? Well, only with a remote way, he was accepting the offerings. He never left his Indraloka. And today I was the one who told you to worship Govardhana and now Govardhana has appeared, “Shilo asmi, this whole mountain is myself!”Krsna and Balarama are also worshiping Giriraj. Krsna is worshiping Krsna.

That evening, Govardhana puja was going on and on and He kept asking for more food, anniyor, including all the milk products that Maharaja mentioned like rasamalai and kheera. All the cows were around and the varjavasis were milking the cows, following with boiling the milk and making them into many different milk preparations.

All the items were poured into differentkundas. It was not like in the temple where the pujaris put bhoga offerings into one small or big plate and fill in small cups with dishes. But there, different kundas were filled with food items which Krsna was cleaning up and still He was unsatisfied. Later, a smart Vrajavasioffered a Tulasi leaf, after which Giriraj was finally satisfied. Then after, Giriraj was cleaning His teeth by using his uprooted big and tall bamboos.

Afterwards, they circumambulated Giriraj. Everyone present in the puja perfomed the parikrama festival. Not only Govardhana were worshipped that day, Krsna and Balarama were personally the participants in that puja. Can you all see this? You have to come out of your bodies a little bit and abandon this bodily concept of life.

The merging of the living entity, along with his conditional living tendency, with the mystic lying down of the Maha-Visnu is called the winding up of the cosmic manifestation. Liberation is the permanent situation of the form of the living entity after he gives up the changeable gross and subtle material bodies. [SB 2.10.6]

The merging of the living entity of Kali yuga are not even ready to hear about Lord krsna and the identity of your relations and activities are all for the Lord and never get influencedwith any other matters of the world.Bygiving up all the forms, the mental and subtle body as we situate ourselves in the self and we become the soul, then we could see or we could be part. This is called nitya lila pravisthah. We are jivana mukta, we have not given up our bodies, yet. That is the idea of following the process of Krsna consciousness. Just like Santana Goswami asks,“ke

ami keneamaya jare tapa traya, who am I”?
ke ami’, ‘kene amaya jare tapa-traya’
iha nahi jani — ‘kemane hita haya’

Translation
“Who am I? Why do the threefold miseries always give me trouble? If I do not know this, how can I be benefited?[CC Madhya 20.102]

Of course, we should not just keep asking questions but also realise who we are and what is our spot in that abode of the Lord and in the different pastimes of the Lord. So, we are not there yet, but that is the idea – to get there. That is why we are doing this Kartika vrat. With that aim in mind we are doing Vraja mandala parikramaand we are celebrating different festivals, especially, the festival of Govardhana Puja.

Of all the things we do in Krsna consciousness, hearing is the first item. There are 9 processes of devotional service: sravanam kirtanam visnoh smaranampadasevanam arcanam vanadanam dasyam sakhyam atmanivedanam. You begin with sravanam and then you complete with atmanivedanam, surrendering everything. So we are very, very fortunate. And I do not have to explain why and how we are fortunate. I expect by now that we understand and realise how fortunate we are. Where are you today? In Vrindavana Dhama. And what are you doing today? The same things that the residents of Vrndavana did. And generations after generations, what the devotees, the residents of Vrndavana, the acaryashad done, that is what we are doing today.

The first and last instructions that Srila Prabhupada gave to me were both in connection with Giriraj. The first one had to be, of course, 50 years ago in 1972 as I had come to Vrndavana from Bombay. Prabhupada had sent myself and Pancadravidha Swami who was then, a brahmacari. Prabhupada ordered, “go to Agra.” Prabhupada wanted to organise a big Govardhana Puja festival in 1972. He had sent me to Agra, just as Nanda Maharaja and company had gathered the ingredients and items of worship. And I do not thinkthey went outside of Vraja for shopping and buying and collecting items. But Prabhupada sent me to Agra and afterwards we had returned back to Vraja at Radha Damodara temple with a good size full of rice, sugar, ghee, flour and so on.

This year we are having ISKCON’s 50th anniversary of Govardhana Puja festival. The first one being in 1972 where I had lots to do. This was Srila Prabhupada’s instructions in connection with Giriraj. Then his last instructions was in 1977 which you all know as it is quite a famous one. Srila Prabhupada was at Krsna Balarama temple and he was not well. He instructed me, “you bring me to Govardhana”. I wondered how. So this was Prabhupada’s idea, “in a bullock cart you bring me to Govardhana. Sri Giriraj Govardhana ki, Jai! Srila Prabhupada was preparing to leave this world, and go back home. He wanted to go to Govardhana in his mind. This is considered to be the last will of Srila Prabhupada. And it was my last instructions from Prabhupada. This was like 5 or 6 days before Prabhupada’s departure.

Although, Prabhupada had asked me to bring him to Govardhana on a bullock cart thatyear in 1977, 45 years ago, it did not happen. So this year we have managed, as you know. We brought Srila Prabhupada in his deity form from his quarters at Krsna Balarama temple to Govardhana. Most of you were there in that procession. Then one day, we did Govardhana parikramawith Srila Prabhupada. This way, finally, after 45 years, I was able to, kindly, execute the last will of Srila Prabhupada.
Srila Prabhupad ki, jai!
Nitai Gaura Premanande, hari bol!

Srimad Bhagavad Katha Day 1

Srimad Bhagavad Katha Day 1
Pune Hadapsar
December 25th 2022

The desire is to continuously sing, I dint know if you feel the same way or not. What I will now speak will be similar to a song. Hari Hari. Lord Krishna has spoken the Bhagavad Gita, Sri Bhagavad uvaca.
It says that the supreme lord spoke, but what is the name of the book? Bhagavad Gita. Even though it is mentioning that the lord spoke, the book is called Bhagavad Gita which means the song of God.

In this way, the words and things spoken in relation to the supreme lord is also Gita, a song. The lord has said ‘yatra gayanti mad bhaktah tatra tisthami narada.’

naham tisthami vaikunthe
yoginam hrdayesu va
tatra tisthami narada
yatra gayanti mad bhaktah
(Srimad Bhagavatam 4.21.41 purport)

Translation
“I am not in Vaiku??ha nor in the hearts of the yog?s. I remain where My devotees engage in glorifying My activities.” It is to be understood that the Supreme Personality of Godhead does not leave the company of His devotees

I have not welcomed you yet properly, but you have all been officially welcomed as I was doing kirtan. In Maharashtra those who sing kirtan are called kirtankar’s. They do not only sing, they speak as well but regardless they are called kirtankar’s. So on my behalf and on behalf of all the devotees I give you all a great welcome. I am indebted to you and I praise you all. By this what I mean to say is that I am very pleased that you are not spending this time in some shoppers mall somewhere.

There are so many places you could be, you did not go to Goa and instead you have reached here where the Hare Krishna festival is about to begin! Bhagavatam katha is also going to begin now and so I’m sure you all must have understood this to be most important and that is why I am calling you all very intelligent. Or rather the lord gave you this intelligence as he is the one who says dadami buddhi yogam tam yena mam upayanti te.

tesham satata yuktanam bhajatam priti purvakam
dadami Buddha yogam tam yena mam upayanti te
(Bhagavad Gita 10.10)

Translation
To those whose minds are always united with Me in loving devotion, I give the divine knowledge by which they can attain Me

He says that he gives one intelligence so they can use that intelligence in which way? ‘Mam upatyanti te, so that they may come towards me. For this reason i give one intelligence.’ The lord gave you all the right intelligence otherwise sometimes what happens is vinash kale viparit buddhi, one’s intelligence becomes destructive. Here this is not the case because here it is not vinash, it is vikash which will happen, enlightenment. The lord is about to become manifest here.

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna

This is sung, spoken and it is also heard.
Sravanam kirtanam visnoh smaranam pada sevanam.

(Srimad Bhagavatam 7.5.23)

Translation
Hearing and chanting about the transcendental holy name, form, qualities, paraphernalia and pastimes of Lord Vi??u, remembering them, serving the lotus feet of the Lord, offering the Lord respectful worship with sixteen types of paraphernalia, offering prayers to the Lord, becoming His servant, considering the Lord one’s best friend, and surrendering everything unto Him (in other words, serving Him with the body, mind and words) — these nine processes are accepted as pure devotional service.

Sravan is hearing and kirtan which is singing- what happens when these are performed? Visnu smaranam or Krishna smaranam or else Rama or Panduranga smaranam. By performing chanting and hearing one remembers the supreme lord and wherever there is kirtan and where there is talk of Krishna, the lord says that he appears in that place.

The four kumaras where performing Bhagavad Katha. Bhagavad katha Mahotsava ki jai! This was taking place in Haridwar and in this katha Bhakti Devi and her two sons, do you know their names? Jyana, knowledge and the second one is Vairagya, renunciation. These two are the sons of Bhajti Devi and this history is quite complicated. This important katha was arranged for Bhakti Devi and her two sons Jyana and Vairagya.

Narada Muni had arranged this all himself and the katha was going on with the four kumaras leading in Haridwar on the banks of the Ganges. Hari Hari. Jyana and Vairagya along with Bhakti Devi herself were born in Dravida Desh- i am going back in history now. Bhakti Devi and her two sons were bought up and kept in Maharashtra and this history is narrated in the padma purana.

But when Bhakti Devi alomg with Jnana and Vairagya reached the province of Gujarat, they became old and sick. With much difficulty – no offence to any Gujarati’s who may be present here, all glories to Gujarat and Maharashtra. Actually all glories to Bharata. So everyone has been glorified, and so when these three reached Vrindavan, this in the place where Bhakti itself is dancing.

So here Bhakti Devi stayed and therefore her health became better but Jnana and Vairagya were still very sick. So what to do? Narada Muni wrote a prescription which was to listen to Bhagavad Katha. ‘If they listen to Bhagavad katha they will become better.’ So there is Bhagavad Katha happening for this reason and the four kumaras are there to do this, headed by Sanaka and Sanatana and others.

They are performing katha, om namo bhagavate vasudevaya. This is the way to start discourses on Bhagavatam and we did the same here just now by saying ‘om namo bhagavate vasudevaya.’ I was about to say that this type of katha – vasudeve bhagavati bhakti yogah prayojitah.

vasudeve bhagavati
bhakti yogah prayojitah
janayaty asu vairagyam
jnanam yad brahma darsanam
(Srimad Bhagavatam 3.32.23)

Translation
Engagement in Krsna consciousness and application of devotional service unto Krsna make it possible to advance in knowledge and detachment, as well as in self-realization

By hearing discourses on Bhagavatam, Bhakti Devi, well just to listen to Bhagavatam is performance of devotional service. It is one of the nine forms of Bhakti which you will have heard of. This is what Prahlad Maharaja describes in the seventh canto. ‘My son, what have you learnt at school? You have come just now on vacation from Gurukula, on Christmas vacation, so what have you learnt?’ Prahlad Maharaja answered,

sravanam kirtanam visnoh
smaranam pada sevanam
arcanam vandanam dasyam
sakhyam atma nivedanam
(Srimad Bhagavatam 7.5.23)

Translation

‘Oh father, I have learnt these nine forms of devotional service. Then what happened? Okay I wont speak on those matters today but my point was to show that hearing and speaking on the subject of the Bhagavatam is devotional service and by performing this kind of devotional service, the four kumara’s were teaching the path of bhakti and they were themselves performing bhakti in this way.

Right now right here I am performing devotional service, kirtan bhakti and all of you are devotees and you are performing devotional service by listening. What sort of devotional service are you all preform in? Sravana, listening. I am doing kirtan, speaking on Krishna lila and you are all listening, sravanam. Sukadeva Goswami was performing kirtan and kimg Parikshit was doing what? Sravanam, listening.

So by performing this devotional service of sravanam kirtanam smaranam and so on, you can see that these are so important. Although there are nine types of devotional service, the most important are this hearing by which the process of devotional service is begun. The first three items are sravanam kirtanam and visnu smaranam. Remembering Vishnu is there also. Like Tukaram Maharaja once said

gita bhagwat kariti shravan, akhand chintan vithobache

Translation
Saint Tukaram is praising pious persons, Where there is unceasing reading of Bhagavad-Gita, Bhagavat and contemplation of Lord Vitthal
(Tukaram Gatha Abhanga 4)

Do you understand Marathi? How many of you understand Marathi! Ninety percent of the audience, Hari! Okay back to Hindi, Tukaram Maharaja said whoever listens to bhagavatam, what will happen? Akhand chintan vithobache, one will be able to always remember lord Vitthal. So sravanam kirtanam visnoh smaranam, this is what Jnana and Vairagya also did by listening to bhagavad katha and the. They became devotees and they also started to constantly remember the supreme lord, so if in this way one is remembering the supreme lord there is no any other thing which one needs to do. Hari Hari.

So in this bhagavatam discourse which the four kumaras were reciting, then towards the end, kirtan began. And do you know? You may be knowing but I don’t know if you or not, I cant ask you all individually. You must all be thinking ‘what are you asking if we know or not, first tell us.’ So what happened is that the supreme lord himself appeared! Not only the lord appeared but Prahlad Maharaja appeared also and he was playing kartals.

Indra was also there and he was playing the Mridanga and Sukadeva Goswami was reciting bhagavatam. The lord appeared with so many of his associates along with kirtan there started some dancing and Jnana and Vairagya who had been taken from Vrindavan to Haridwar on an Ambulance, upon hearing the kirtan they both jumped up and started to dance They were dancing!

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare

So the hope and prayer is that we all who may be weak in devotion and in knowledge and renunciation, may we have this strength towards the end. Well no, why towards the end? From the very beginning may we get strength by getting a potion to perform bhakti. What does the world do? It exploits us and we get exhausted but listening to bhagavatam and recitation of bhagavad and kirtan, darshan and yatra and even prashad or Pandharpur yatra and taking bath in river chandrabhaga, all these things we become revived.

The world is ready to destruct us in one sense, but coming to here bhagavatam is protecting us from the dangers of this material world. Bhaktivedanta swami Srila Prabhupada ki jai! When Srila Prabhupada went to the west to preach the process of devotional service, he turned the killers of the cow into protectors of the cow. Hari Hari. He also turned the demons who are not only in America but they are all over the world, he turned those animal like demons into proper human beings.

He asked them to chant Hare Krishna Mahamantra in kirtan and in Japa, he fed them prashadam and this is the very thing we are going to do for the next few days. I forgot to mention one thing. There in Haridwar when kirtan and dancing going were going on and the lord was present there, do you know what happened? Again I am asking you all questions (laughter). All the devotees and practitioners you could say, why not? They all appealed to the lord, ‘oh lord, in the future whenever your katha takes place, will you come to Hadapsar, bhosle medain ground or something when there is katha taking place there also?’

The lord said ‘yes so be it. That is what shall happen.’ So here there will be closeness to the lord, sanidhya- what a word sanidhya, closeness. And then after this it became a sort of ritual for the lord to be present when katha was happening. Yatra gayanti mad-bhaktah.

naham tisthami vaikunthe
yoginam hrdayesu va
tatra tisthami narada
yatra gayanti mad bhaktah

Translation
I am not in Vaikuntha nor in the hearts of the yogis. I remain where My devotees engage in glorifying My activities.”

Whenever the devotees get together and sing of the lord’s glories, whenever they sing and dance, tatra tisthami, ‘I go there and that becomes my address. It could be that you may not find me in Vaikuntha or in the hearts of the Yogi’s who are mediating in me for thousands of years. I will not give such yogi’s my darshan and I also wont be found in Vaikuntha but wherever my devotees are speaking my glories, I will be found.

Hare Krishna, Haribol. Thank you, Radha Sharad Bihari ki jai. So the lord has said in the gita just now just before the Ekadasi that went, the Ekadasi before that on Mokshada Ekadasi in the month of December. There it was said by Dhritarashtra

dharma ksetre kuru ksetre
samaveta yuyutsavah
mamakah pandavas caiva
kim akurvata sanjaya
(Bhagavad Gita 1.1)

Translation
Dhritarashtra said: O Sanjay, after gathering on the holy field of Kurukshetra, and desiring to fight, what did my sons and the sons of Pandu do?

Krishna said so many things whilst speaking the Gita but one of those was

mach chitta mad gata prana
bodhayantah parasparam kathayantash cha mam nityam
tushyanti cha ramanti cha
(Bhagavad Gita 10.9)

Translation
With their minds fixed on Me and their lives surrendered to Me, My devotees remain ever content in Me. They derive great satisfaction and bliss in enlightening one another about Me and in conversing about My glories

Giving a introduction of their devotees, the lord says, ‘what do my devotees do? Mach chitta, their minds are always on me and what else? Mad gata prana, their lives are for me, fully surrendered to me. And bodhayantah parasparam, they enlighten each other with talks about me. Kathayantash cha mam nityam – they are always having katha and then? Tushyanti, they are satisfied by doing this and raman they delight in such things.’

These are the expectations of the supreme lord of us devotees, and you are souls, this is an obvious fact that does not need to be asked. The soul is the devotee of the supreme lord and you are all souls, yes or no? Some people did not understand my question, or otherwise they are thinking ‘oh oh, who am I?’ We are all spirit souls and the soul is an eternal servant of the supreme lord. Some people are beginning to understand this, but most people here have forgotten this.

Maya makes them forget and confuses one, but basically we are spirit souls meaning the eternal servant of the supreme lord.

mamaivansho jiva loke jiva bhutah sanatanah manah shashthanindriyani prakriti sthani karshati
(Bhagavad Gita 15.7)

Translation
The embodied souls in this material world are My eternal fragmental parts. But bound by material nature, they are struggling with the six senses including the mind

I am a devotee and you all are also devotees so what are we going to do? Bodhayantah parasparam, we are going to enlighten one another with talks of Krishna, we will remember the lord Hari Hari. I was thinking, what is the job of the spirit soul? It is not material activities and gross entertainment. This is not an entertainment program, it is an enlightenment program. It is for the soul, not for the material mind.

om sarve bhavantu sukhinah
sarve santu niramayah

(Brihadaranyaka Upanishad)

Translation
Let all be happy, let all be free from debilitation, let all see goodness, let there be no victims of sorrow

This is a vedic prayer which is of high thinking, that let everyone be happy. How should everyone be? Happy. This is a prayer also and it is a good gesture as well. From this point also we see that this festival and mahotsava has been arranged so that everybody may be happy. To give the soul happiness and to be able to play, for the soul’s satisfaction and for the peace of the soul this has been organised. Who here wants peace? Okay then you are in the right place at the right time.

For peace for yourselves and for the whole world, for the soul this festival has been started and anyway only the supreme lord and his devotion service can give us this satisfaction. Then we will be able to attain the lord. Have you thought about the fact that one should try to attain the lord? Hari Hari.

Yachi dehi yachi dola, this is what we say in Marathi and it means that yachi deha, in this very body we must attain the lord. With divine eyes we should desire to take darshan of the lord and at the end our goal is to go back home back to godhead! We have to go to the place where Tukaram Maharaja has gone, back to our village. Where are you from? Pune-kar or Sangli-kar, Kasigau-kar, in Maharashtra there is a lot of this kar kar.

I once asked a manwhat his name was and he replied ‘karmarkar.’ Did you hear? Maybe you are thinking that this is a hreat name. Kar means? Then Mar then kar, Karmarkar. Then I told him that you are not the only Karmarkar, we are all Karmarkar. So the lord is very merciful, he is karuna sindhu, an ocean of mercy. This is a good thing, that he is so merciful but what is he along side this mercy? He is dina bandhu, whatbis he? Dina bandhu, we are deen, poor and our bandhu, friend is the supreme lord.

That is why he is so merciful towards us and by his merciful nature he does so much for us and one of those things he does is

paritranaya sadhunam
vinasaya ca duskrtam
dharma-samsthapanarthaya
sambhavami yuge yuge
(Bhagavad Gita 4.8)

Translation
In order to deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I advent Myself millennium after millennium.

The lord again and again and again does what? He comes into this material world. Try to understand and listen, if the lord had never come to this world or this universe and if he stayed in his spiritual abode always, then how would we know if there is a god or not? We wouldn’t even know this word ‘god.’ ‘Is there a god or not? If there is a god then what does he look like and what does he do and what pastimes does he perform and where does he perform them?

Is it at Vrindavan or Pandharpur or here or there?’ We would have no answers to these questions if the supreme lord kept busy in his own pastimes in the spiritual world. We would be here in this material world forever, in this place which is also a prison house. You will all not like to hear this, but in one sense we are all prisoners and when a prisoner is sent to prison, what is the first thing they do? They give him the prison uniform and they give him a number also, like 420 or whatever.

In this universe we are all fallen souls and we are shackled in this prison house. We have been told to wear the prison uniform and how many types of uniform are there? Eight million four hundred thousand and these are called the different material bodies. These are the uniforms and this human form of life is also one of those prison uniforms but it is a very difficult one to attain.

So if the lord had not come here, how would we have any information about him? And take it that even if he came, just like lord Krishna came and stayed on the planer earth for one hundred and twenty five years and then he went back to his own abode. But if there was nothing mentioned about his coming, if there was no talk about him, if there were no books written about his pastimes, no sastra like bhagavad gita, vedanta sutra, puranas, mahabharata, and so many other puranas and then bhagavatam, all glories to srimad bhagavatam!

If these sastras had not been written, if they were not here then also we would have no clue about the lord coming here and the pastimes he performed. We would have no information about his coming or his leaving. There would be no temples and there would be no information where the lord had his pastimes, nobody would know about Vrindavan or Pandharpura or bhagavad gita.

sarva dharman parityajya mam ekam sharanam vraja aham tvam sarva papebhyo mokshayishyami ma shuchah
(bhagavad gita 18.66)

Translation
Abandon all varieties of dharmas and simply surrender unto Me alone. I shall liberate you from all sinful reactions; do not fear

We would not have known what the lord says here about just surrendering unto him and we wouldnt know that the lord says

patram pushpam phalam toyam yo me bhaktya prayachchhati tadaham bhaktyupahritam ashnami prayatatmanah
(bhagavad gita 9.26)

Translation
If one offers to Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or even water, I delightfully partake of that item offered with love by My devotee in pure consciousness

The lord has said what to offer his but if we didn’t read this and know this then we would eat mutton-am chicken-am, this would be going on perpetually. That is why it is a good thing that the lord came here, he is most welcome. Su swagatam Krishna Su swagatam Krishna, welcome Sri Krishna.

maya mugdha jivera nahi svatah krsna jnana
jivere krpaya kaila krsna veda purana
(caitanya caritamrita madhya 20.122)

Translation
The conditioned soul cannot revive his Krsna consciousness by his own effort. But out of causeless mercy, Lord K???a compiled the Vedic literature and its supplements, the Puranas

Again sastra says, we have become illusioned in this material world. Maya mughda, they are illusioned and in that state they have no knowledge of their own selves, maya mugdha jivera nahi svatah – they have no knowledge of themselves or Krishna. Then what did Krishna do? He took mercy on all of us, kaila krsna veda purana. The lord took mercy on all of us, and arranged the vedas and sastras, this is the lord’s greatest mercy upon us.

So not only did the Lord appear five thousand years ago, but along with him Vyasadeva also appeared. Srila Vyasadeva is the one who compiled all the veda’s and sastra’s, in this way he expanded the lord’s pastimes through many books and sastras. That is why he is called Vyas which means expander. So this is a story about a certain and Badrika ashram dham ki jai! So it was morning time and in Badrika ashram there is river Saraswati.

There you can take darshan of mother Saraswati, you cannot take darshan of Saraswati further down but there you can take darshan. Srila Vyasadeva was sitting on the banks of the river Saraswati and who else was to appear chanting and singing ’Narayana Narayana.’ Just by my saying this you must know who I an speaking about. Narada Muni appeared on the scene, the one who gives Narayana -Narada.

Narada Muni is Srila Vyasadeva’s spiritual master and actually he is the spiritual master of the whole world. Narada Muni is also the spiritual master of Valmiki and also of Prahlad Maharaja. And Dhruva Maharaja’s spiritual master is? Narada Muni, so like that on and on. Jai Narada. So he reached there as he is Srila Vyasadeva’s spiritual master and Srila Vyasadeva’s was looking very upset, angry and downtrodden.

Narada Muni had not thought that he would see Vyasadeva looking like this because he is a Muni and is atmarama, he wants to see everyone happy and peaceful. So he was thinking, ‘why is my disciple looking so upset?’ When he asked ‘why are you not happy? You have written so many books of sastra, so why are you feeling and looking like this?’ So Vyasadeva replied ‘there is no job satisfaction.’

You all say this, no? ‘whatever I did, and all those books I wrote, there are so many, but I am not satisfied. Maybe whatever I wrote has some mistake or some shortcomings.’ Because he understood that he was feeling like this due to his not having done something, maybe he had missed something. Then he said to Narada Muni, ‘here these are all the books I have written. Please check yourself and check these writings, review my books, the sastra’s and you please tell me what shortcomings are there.’

Just as Narada Muni looked inside the books, he immediately replied, ‘Oh yes yes! I understand.’

(srimad bhagavatam 1.5.9)

Translation
Although, great sage, you have very broadly described the four principles beginning with religious performances, you have not described the glories of the Supreme Personality, Vasudev

Gradually we understand the greatness of bhagavatam which is the best of all scriptures. Mattah paratara?m nanyat kinchid asti

mattah paratara?m nanyat kinchid asti dhananjaya mayi sarvam idam protam sutre mani gana iva
(Bhagavad gita 7.7)

Translation
There is nothing higher than Myself, O Arjun. Everything rests in Me, as beads strung on a thread

The lord says that there is not even another incarnation that it like him so in the same way, there is no sastra that compares to bhagavatam. Narada Muni therefore said ‘vasudevasya mahima hy anuvarnitah. You have spoken much about religion, economic development, sense gratification and liberation which are the four goals of human life. We say karma kanda jnana kanda kevala visera bhanda. For a Vaisnava, the karma kanda and jnana kanda sections of the Vedas are unnecessary. Indeed, a real Vaisnava takes these sections as a poison pot – visera bhanda

You have written so much about liberation and material enjoyment but where have have mentioned nothing about the glories of Vasudeva or Krishna or Rama amongst all these? Where are the pastimes and the descriptions of the lord’s qualities? Srila Vyasadeva understood and finally he wrote another scripture which was srimad bhagavatam jai! What is in the bhagavatam? Harih sarvatra giyate.

vede ramayane caiva purane bharate tatha
adav ante ca madhye ca harih sarvatra giyate
(Caitanya cmCaritamrita 1.7.131)

In the Vedic literature, including the Ramayana, Puranas and Mahabharata, from the very beginning (?dau) to the end (ante ca), as well as within the middle (madhye ca), only Hari, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is explained

So harih sarvatra giyate. Hari Hari, Gaura Hari or Vasudeva Hari. The lord says in the Bhagavad gita

bahunam janmanam ante jnanavan mam prapadyate vasudevah sarvam iti sa mahatma su durlabhah
(Bhagavad gita 7.19)

Translation
After many births of spiritual practice, one who is endowed with knowledge surrenders unto Me, knowing Me to be all that is. Such a great soul is indeed very rare

We see in this how Vasudeva is everything. Vasudeva Vasudeva Vasudeva Hari! In Pandharpura there is constant chanting like this.

krsnaya vasudevaya
devaki nandanaya ca
nanda gopa kumaraya
govindaya namo namah
(srimad bhagavatam 1.8.21)

Translation
Let me therefore offer my respectful obeisances unto the Lord, who has become the son of Vasudeva, the pleasure of Devaki, the boy of Nanda and the other cowherd men of Vrndavana, and the enlivener of the cows and the senses

That book is full of Vasudeva and that is why it is said in bhagavatam

nigama kalpa taror galitam phalam
suka mukhad amrta drava samyutam
pibata bhagavatam rasam alayam
muhur aho rasika bhuvi bhavukah
(srimad bhagavatam 1.1.3)

Translation
O expert and thoughtful men, relish Srimad Bhagavatam, the mature fruit of the desire tree of Vedic literatures. It emanated from the lips of Sri Sukadeva Gosvami. Therefore this fruit has become even more tasteful, although its nectarean juice was already relishable for all, including liberated souls.

The glories of the bhagavatam are written in the bhagavatam itself in the srimad bhagavatam mangalacharan at the very beginning. It is in the first canto of the first chapter slokas one, two and three. Nigama kalpa taror galitam phalam, all the sastras including the vedas, puranas vedanta sutra, Mahabharata and the seventeen puranas, what are these? You may take it that these are all a big tree which has been made up of all these books.

What do we wait to get from a tree? There are leaves on the tree and branches, very nice. We also very much welcome the flowers of the tree but what else is left as yet? The fruit of the tree, so in the same way all the other books are their pages parts and it could be there are fruits of these books also but the srimad bhagavatam is galitam phalam. It is not only a fruit or an unripened fruit, it is galitam- it is so ripe it may fall from the tree at any moment very soon.

Then what is written further? Suka mukhad amrta drava samyutam. Sukadeva Goswami ki jai! Sukadeva Goswami has tasted this fruit of bhagavatam and he has therefore made it maha prashad. By doing so, it has become ever sweeter. You may all know but in the village when the mango season arrives, there are many mango trees around my house. So in the mango season we would climb these trees and we would go from one tree to another and we would look at each mango.

We would not pick every mango but we would look for which type of mango? We would look for that mango which a parrot or some other bird may have pecked and eaten a little bit. When you look at these specific fruits, you can see that from the inside they are very juicy and red. They are not unripe and so we would pick these mangoes and we would sit right there and eat them. Have any of you done like this or experienced this? Anyone here from the village give your introduction.

‘He is a villager a villager!’ All glories to the youths! All glories to the farmers, actually a devotee can be a youth or he can be a farmer also. So the goal is to become a devotee and to do that one may take any path of occupational. One must drink the rasa, the juice of the srimad bhagavatam. At one time in the golden age, I think Brahma was involved and he was weighing all the books of scripture on a scale. There he saw that the scale in which srimad bhagavatam had been put was the heaviest.

He saw so many other so called heavier books were hanging on high, not heavy at all although they were so many pages more, so much heavier. There were the vedas and puranas and this and that. King of all books srimad bhagavad ki jai! Sukadeva Goswami was just about to begin his narration of srimad Bhagavatam when the gods headed by Indra arrived. Chandra the moon god arrived also along with many other demigods and they bought along with then the nectar called Kumbha from the Kumbha Mela.

They spoke to Sukadeva Goswami and said ‘oh Maharaja we have bought this nectar. Will you give this nectar to King Parikshit so that he will be able to live forever. And in exchange of this you may read srimad bhagavatam to us or let us drink the nectar of bhagavatam. When Sukadeva Goswami heard their appeal he shouted ‘get out! You are committing a great offence. How can you compare this nectar which can give one immortality or strength to srimad bhagavatam?

This bhagavatam is the means to attain Krishna and his eternal abode so how can you compare this nectar of Kumbha Mela to the nectar if srimad bhagavatam? You are making the greatest offence!’ So the demigods also were not fortunate enough to taste the nectar of srimad bhagavatam. In this srimad bhagavatam it is said dharmah projjhita kaitavo ’tra paramo nirmatsaranam satam
vedyam vastavam atra vastu sivadam and so on.

dharmah projjhita kaitavo ’tra paramo nirmatsaranam satam
vedyam vastavam atra vastu sivadam tapa trayonmulanam
srimad bhagavate maha muni krte ki? va parair isvarah
sadyo hrdy avarudhyate ’tra krtibhih susrusubhis tat ksanat
(srimad bhagavatam 1.1.2)

Completely rejecting all religious activities which are materially motivated, this Bhagavata Pur??a propounds the highest truth, which is understandable by those devotees who are fully pure in heart. The highest truth is reality distinguished from illusion for the welfare of all. Such truth uproots the threefold miseries. This beautiful Bhagavatam, compiled by the great sage Vy?sadeva [in his maturity], is sufficient in itself for God realization. What is the need of any other scripture? As soon as one attentively and submissively hears the message of Bh?gavatam, by this culture of knowledge the Supreme Lord is established within his heart.

So here it is said dharmah projjhita kaitavo, religious activities are covered by fruitive intention of religion, economic development, sense gratification and liberation. It is karma kanda, fruitive activity – karma kanda jnana kanda kevala visera bhanda. For a Vaisnava, the karma kanda and jnana kanda sections of the Vedas are unnecessary.

We sometimes think to have a fire sacrifice to reach the heavenly planets a d we follow different instructions to attain fruitive results but the bhagavatam calls this kind of religion a cheating religion. The spirit soul is being cheated although that soul is a paramahamsa, enlightened and pure with no envy. The bhagavatam is different because we have become so called great Hindu’s and we perform these great fruitive sacrifices which is why the supreme lord was compelled to say ‘surrender everything to me.’ We need to give up this Kaitav dharma

krsna bhakta niskama, ataeva ‘santa’
bhukti mukti siddhi kam? – sakali ‘asanta’
(Caitanya Caritamrita madhya 19.149)

Translation
Because a devotee of Lord Krsna is desireless, he is peaceful. Fruitive workers desire material enjoyment, jnanis desire liberation, and yog?s desire material opulence; therefore they are all lusty and cannot be peaceful

Those who are performers of fruitive activities are never peaceful due to their unlimited but a devotee of Krishna is desireless and that is why is is always peaceful. Bedyam vastavam atra vastu sivada? tapa trayonmulanam

When the bhagavatam can be gotten by any person, what is the need of any other scripture? This question has been raised. Isvarah sadyo hrdy avarudhyate, just by hearing this greatest scripture srimad bhagavatam what happens? The lord of the heart who is Parameshwar Krishna, he quickly appears and begins to stay in the heart of the practitioner. Krtibhih susrusubhis tat ksanat, he appears at that very moment.

The lord stayed on this planet for one hundred and twenty five years and then he was preparing to leave this place and this became known to Uddhava. Krishna says to Uddhava ‘Udhav mohi Braj bisrat nahi, oh Uddhava I cannot forget Braja.’ Uddhava is a very important personality and he got the news that the lord is not getting ready to go back to his own abode. So Uddhava told the lord, ‘me too. I will go back with you also, take me as well.’

But the lord said ‘no no, you stay because you are still needed here to complete an important mission.’ Again Uddhava protested, ‘no no, I want to go with you.’ At the end lord Krishna said ‘okay okay, I will stay also. How? I will stay in the form of srimad bhagavatam in this world.’ Haribol!

krsna sva dhamopagate

(srimad bhagavatam 1.3.43)

Translation
This Bhagavata Purana is as brilliant as the sun, and it has arisen just after the departure of Lord Krsna to His own abode, accompanied by religion, knowledge, etc. Persons who have lost their vision due to the dense darkness of ignorance in the age of Kali shall get light from this Purana

So the Lord, simultaneously went back to his own abode, and stayed back on the earth planet in the form of srimad bhagavatam. On the very day the lord left, that same day Kali entered, you may note this. Then what happened? Kalau nasta drsam esa, this Kali took the vision of the people and he destroyed their intelligence. They became blind due to lust, which is one of the six enemies of the living entity.

Kama (desire), krodha (anger), lobha (greed), Mada (arrogance), moha (infatuation), and matsarya (jealousy). All these enemies make us blind and that is what Kali did and so to give light and to restore our vision, so we may see properly, the lord appeared in the form of the king of all scriptures, srimad bhagavatam! Kalau nasta drsam esa puranarko ‘dhunoditah. This puranarko means the sun.

Just like it is said ‘as brilliant as the sun.’ The lord is not compared to just one sun but to koti, millions of suns and they are all the supreme personality of godhead. There is one shabda brahma and the other is para brahma. The shabda brahma is srimad bhagavatam and para brahma is Sri Krishna’s own form. Just like Arjuna said param brahma param dhama pavitram paramam bhavan.

param brahma param dhama
pavitram paramam bhavan
purusam sasvatam divyam
adi devam ajam vibhum
(bhagavad gita 10.12)

Translation
Arjuna said: You are the Supreme Brahman, the ultimate, the supreme abode and purifier, the Absolute Truth and the eternal divine person. You are the primal God, transcendental and original, and You are the unborn and all-pervading beauty. All the great sages such as Narada, Asita, Devala, and Vyasa proclaim this of You, and now You Yourself are declaring it to me.

Arjuna told the supreme lord on the battlefield of kuruksetra, ‘you are param brahma the supreme truth.’ The lord has unlimited forms but it is said in the bhagavatam that the main forms are two in number. One is the shabda brahma and the other para brahma. The shabda brahma is the bhagavad gita or srimad bhagavatam. By the help of the shabda brahma we can attain the darshan of the supreme lord in his actual form.

This bhagavatam shows one the supreme lord and in the vedanta sutra it is said that the source of our knowledge is the sastras, the shabda brahma. They are also called sastra caksus, what are the sastras? They are our eyes or glasses. We cannot presently see corrective because of the lust and anger which is covering our vision m, so we must open the srimad bhagavatam and start reading. Otherwise one can also listen to bhagavatam but to read is also sravanam, listening.

So we will be able to see the supreme lord himself through the eyes of sastras. ‘At the moment I cannot see so clearly but aaaahh now I can see!’ So like that to read bhagavad gita and to listen to bhagavatam is very important. That is when we will understand and find out who we actually are and who the supreme lord is, and so on. This is very important, the number one. Srila Prabhupada used to say ‘that one is important. We earned this much and we got this and we have that.’

But this is all zero but if you put the number one in the beginning of all the zeros then all those zeros have value. One zero will become ten and two zeros will become one hundred. If there aren’t more zeros then it becomes a hundred thousand, million, billion, trillion. As long as there is a number one in front and if there is no one in front then one zero, two zeros or a thousand zeros together. A big zero and that is exactly what happens to everything we earn. Hari Hari.

Mrtyuh sarva haras caham. What does the lord say? I come in the form of death which is also my form.

mrtyuh sarva haras caham
udbhavas ca bhavisyatam
kirtih srir vak ca narinam
smrtir medha dhrtih ksama
(bhagavad gita 10.34)

Translation
I am all devouring death, and I am the generating principle of all that is yet to be. Among women I am fame, fortune, fine speech, memory, intelligence, steadfastness and patience

Whatever we earn will all be lost, a big zero, but whatever zeros are used in the service of the lord

yat karosi yad asnasi

(bhagavad 9.27)

Translation
O son of Kunti, all that you do, all that you eat, all that you offer and give away, as well as all austerities that you may perform, should be done as an offering unto Me

Lord Krishna officially left for his own abode and this happened not so long ago and upon preparing to leave, the lord told Arjuna ‘take all my queens from Dwarka to Hastinapura and look after them and see to their needs.’ Arjuna did just this but then they end up in Mathura. King Parikshit had become not only a King but the emperor of the whole world and he was known as the emperor of the whole earth planet. He was rolling the whole earth planet and his capital city was Hastinapura and the whole planet was called Bharata.

Mahabharata literally means the history of Greater India. Now it has become only India but at one time it was Bharata, Mahabharata. King Parikshit became the emperor and his capital was Hastinapura and in Mathura Vajranabha who was the great grandson of the supreme lord Krishna. So the lord’s queens are taken to Vrindavan and Vajranabha is taking care of them all. They are all his own Grandmothers and all these queens of more than sixteen thousand in number are looking for Krishna in Vrindavan.

He cannot be found anywhere and they are missing him so they are suffering in the fire of separation from Krishna. So at one tome King Parikshit went to Mathura to meet Vajranabha and he asked him, ‘how are the queens?’ Vajranabha replied that they were not very happy because they are missing Krishna. They wanted to meet Krishna, perform pastimes with the lord and have interactions with him. They also wanted to serve the lord but he was not to be found anywhere by them.

In the skanda purana the glories of srimad bhagavatam have been explained in five chapters. Firstly there is this bhagavad mahatmya, glories if bhagavatam in the padma purana and secondly it is there in the skanda purana. I am trying to speak in connection to this. So the queens had been advised to go with King Pariksit and Vajranabha and they were told, ‘do one thing, go to Kusum Sarovar and perform kirtan there.

The queens were on the banks of kusum Sarovar performing kirtan so you all do the same now. So as kirtan was going on they had already been told what would happen. Shandilya Rishi and Mother Yamuna had told them to go on the banks of the Kusum sarovara where Uddhava will now come on the scene. On the banks of kusum sarovara, the trees and leaves, the branches of the trees and the grass is Uddhava in these different forms.

He is staying there because he has a great hope that when the Gopi’s will go past this place to go and get flowers to make a garland for Krishna, ‘then may the dust from the gopi’s feet fall upon my head so I may be liberated.’ In this hope Uddhava is staying there and so when he heard the queens perform kirtan, he appeared in his own form. And wherever Uddhava appears, there is an uttsava, festival.

What happens in a Hare Krishna uttsava? It makes one more enthusiastic and makes us eager and excited. So Uddhava appeared and he is about to seak bhagavad katha to who? Who is in the audience? The sixteen thousand queens of the lord are sitting there as are King Parikshit and Vajranabha.

So in the beginning Uddhava says ‘King Parikshit please leave. You cannot stay here.’ ‘Why?’ ‘You have to maintain law and order and we are going to have a very long katha here.’ So King Parikshit asked, ‘what will become of me? I will become bereft of listening to the glories of Sri Krishna.’ Uddhava replied ‘no no, it is not so, especially for you there will be arrangement for recitation of srimad bhagavatam and Srila Sukadeva Goswami himself recite bhagavatam to you on the banks of the Ganges! It is not your turn yet, your turn will come.’

Then Uddhava started, ‘om namo bhagavate vasudevaya.’

kada drakshyami nandasya balakam nipamdlakam

Translation
When will my eyes see the wonderful form of the Supreme Bhagavan Shri
Krishna, who appeared on this earth as the son of Nanda? He is adorned with a
flower garland around his neck and the holy tilak mark on his forehead; he is the protector of virtuous people

The queens were already becoming impatient to see the lord and so Uddhava went and he was going to give them darshan of the lord. How will he give them darshan? By speaking to them Krishna katha and then with the help of shabda brahma, the form of the lord bhagavatam they got darshan if the para brahma, the supreme lord in his self same form. Just go away I don’t want you and in that way they will re establish their relationship with the lord.

That is what was going to happen and in this way this katha continued for an entire one month and everyone was engrossed in hearing talks of bhagavatam. Nobody was suddenly leaving in the middle of the katha, nor was anybody sleeping during the talk or looking at their mobile phone. Katha was continuing for one month and so what started happening was that some of the queens are now leaving because they started to see their lord Krishna.

They are joining Krishna in whatever pastimes they are in and they will begin their service to the supreme lord once
again, whatever service that may be in accordance to what their specific relationship with the lord may be. They are slowly entering those pastimes and gradually the sixteen thousand one hundred queens have left to go to the lord and enter into the lord’s pastimes.

One thousand have left, and another thousand and another thousand and then all sixteen thousand. At the end only Uddhava and Vajranabha are left there and so by the end of these seven days you all will also become ready to leave, this should be the hope and we must pray like this to attain the lord. We are actually always seeing the lord, having his darshan and today also you had the lord’s darshan. Yes or no?

Who here is feeling that it is starting to happen even slightly, how about you Mataji’s? The darshan becomes more and more clear as we listen to the katha. Ceto darpana marjanam

ceto darpana marjanam bhava maha davagni nirvapanam sreyah kairava candrika vitaranam vidya vadhu jivanam anandambudhi vardhanam prati padam purnamrtasvadanam sarvatma snapanam paramvijayate sri krsna sankirtanam

It increases the ocean of transcendental bliss, and it enables us to fully taste the nectar for which we are always anxious

There must be cleansing of the mirror. Just like if you have a mirror but it is very dusty then we will not be able to see our own faces. But as soon as you remove that dust we can see ourselves again so un the same way our consciousness is cleansed by our listening to Krishna katha. The dust which is laying in our heart will be cleansed and then our mind and consciousness become purified.

Krishna will then be seen and this was the exact result of the katha that Uddhava Ji was reciting. Sooner or later it can be said, we must all become purified and come to this stage. Krishna Kahnaiya lal ki jai. Another thing is that we must beware, be cautious or careful about something, we will speak about this before we end today’s class. There is one more important thing which is in the padma purana in regards to bhagavad mahatmya and that is in regards to Gokarna.

Gokarna recited katha for his brother Dhundukhari and when the katha was coming to an end, Gokarna and of course everyone else must have seen it too, an plavne came. It was a small plane in which one or just a few passengers would be able to sit. It landed there and the air hosts on that plane – bear in mind they were hosts, there were no hostesses, they were the messengers of lord Vishnu, the Vishnudutas.

Those Visnuduta’s, ‘you! Not you, just you.’ They pointed to Dhundhulari to come forward and board the plane and he came forward, boarded the plane and sat down with his seat belt fastened and phew. The plane was just about to fly off when Gokarna said to Visnuduta’s ‘hey, wait a minute! What is happening here? Thousands of people listened to the katha but you are taking only one person back to Vaikunthaloka. What was the fault of the others sitting here and what was their offence?’

At the time the Visnuduta’s replied that everyone had listened to the katha but what did the rest of the people not do? They did not take it in their mind and they did not contemplate and and they did not remember or meditate on that katha. This is what one must do after katha is over, not that ‘oh the talk is over so bye. We shall meet tomorrow to start again.’ No, there should be contemplation in between the katha and we can speak about what we have heard, which is kirtan.

You can do this upon reaching home after the katha and if for whatever reason others were not able to come to the katha then you can recite to them, again this is kirtan. Forget hi and hello and chanted Hare Krishna and you can talk on the phone or online, on zoom but you can address them and recite katha to them. You can enlighten them about Krishna which is bodhayantah parasparam and if you do not do these things and of you cannot do these things then there is a saying in Marathi that there are so many gold merchants and shops and what do they do with the gold sometimes?

In one ear it goes in and it comes out of the other ear. But it shouldn’t be this way, it must reach the heart through the ears because the soul is in the heart. We all live in the heart and that is also where the supersoul lives, right next to the living entity which is us. So the ear is a material thing, that is not where the katha should be going and staying. The goal is to reach the soul and so one must contemplate and take these things into one’s mind and one list also have faith.

How much faith do we put into listening to these transcendental topics? Shraddhavanllabhate jnanam, a faithful person achieves divine knowledge and Krishna says in bhagavad gita sanshayatma vinashyati a skeptical person without faith falls down.

ajnash chashraddadhanash cha sanshayatma vina?hyati nayam loko ’sti na paro na sukham sanshayatmana?
(bhagavad gita 4.40)

Translation
But persons who possess neither faith nor knowledge, and who are of a doubting nature, suffer a downfall. For the skeptical souls, there is no happiness either in this world or the next

Krishna says, when there is a doubt, they are doubting all the time, then what happens? Vinashyati, he falls down. The Visnuduta’s are explaining what the others did not do, ‘but he did it, this Dhundhukari did the right thing! With full faith he listened and took that in his mind and he was fully concentrating as he listened to the katha.’ Many other things been said in this connection which you should also all take with you now at the end if this katha. Let this katha become your property, your possession.

Just like the actual wealth of our country is the sastra’s, the books of the vedas and puranas and srimad bhagavatam and Bhagavad gita. This is the real wealth of our country and anyway I had said this in many different ways and gave different examples. When Srila Prabhupada was once in London, he was asked by one journalist, ‘Swamiji, why have you come to our country?’ Then Prabhupada answered, ‘well you also came to India, so the situation is equal. But no, because you came to exploit our country. Your people thought oh this is valuable and so is this. In this way you kept exploiting the Indian people and all it’s wealth.

You even stole the diamonds and especially the Kohinoor diamond which is now in some museum in London. You stole many spices and silk and this and that but at the time of doing all of this, you forgot to take the actual wealth of our country. So you have asked me why I have come here so I would like to tell you that I have come to give you a home delivery of our real wealth which you forgot to bring with you.’ Shouts of Haribol!

When asked what is such wealth could be that they themselves could not recognise, Prabhupada told them, the Bhagavd gita and srimad bhagavatam and the knowledge of the vedas and puranas. This is the actual wealth of our country. Like that there are many items that were left by the British which are the real wealth of our country. The culture of India, Bharat India and not the so called culture of modern India is not the culture of Bharat India.

A man was giving his introduction once, and he said ‘I’m not Indian, I am Bharatia. There is a lot hidden in this comment amd in being a Bharatia because being Indian means that one is not following his own culture. So Srila Prabhupada said that he had come there to make a home delivery of the actual Indian culture, of ancient India. The most valuable of this is the lord’s holy names, golokera prema dhana, hari nama sankirtana.

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare

This is the wealth and that is why Srila Prabhupada always used to say ‘chant Hare Krishna and be happy.’ To be happy one must be wealthy, but what is that wealth which will make us happy? The knowledge of the sastras is the true wealth and this will make us actually happy and we will become civilised. The modern civilisation is not civilisation. Hari Hari. Okay

Thank you for your presence here and for giving your valuable time in the service of Krishna. In return, Krishna is going to give you so much for the time you have invested here. Hare Krishna.

“May the Supreme Lord, who is known as the son of Srimati Sacidevi, be transcendentally situated in the innermost core of your heart. Resplendent with the radiance of molten gold, He has descended in the Age of Kali by His causeless mercy to bestow what no incarnation has ever offered before: the most elevated mellow of devotional service, the mellow of conjugal love.”

This verse appears in Caitanya Caritamrita 3 times. This verse (Vidagdha-madhava 1.2) also appears in adi-lila (1.4 and 3.4).

Who is Gauranga Mahaprabhu?
Sri Krsna Caitanya . Why is He full of karuna or more karunamai than Krsna. Krsna is vadanyaya but Sri Krsna Caitanya is mahavadanyaya.

“ekatmanav api bhuvi pura deha bhedam gatau tau”

Caitanya Caritamrita describes in the very beginning. Radha and Krishna are ekatmana, they are one. But to perform their pastimes they become two. “deha bhedam gatau tau” they become two.
caitanyakhyam prakatam adhuna tad-dvayam caikyam aptam

So they are one they had become two. But then again those two become one “tad-dvayam caikyam aptam ” that is Caitanya Mahaprabhu. This is a statement from Caitanya Craitamrita again. They became two they assume two forms from one they become two then latter 536 years what happen?

So they were two 536 years ago then they became one, that is Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Translation:
Radha-Krsna is one. Radha-Krsna is Krsna and Krsna’s pleasure potency combined. When Krsna exhibits His pleasure potency, He appears to be two—Radha and Krsna. Otherwise, Radha and Krsna are one. This oneness may be perceived by advanced devotees through the grace of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. This was the case with Ramananda Raya. One may aspire to attain such a position, but one should not try to imitate the maha-bhagavata.

Radha duti he has been cooking for all of you
In Sri Krsna Caitanya there is Radha and Radha is very very kind. You know Radharani she is very merciful. Radha Thakuri. We are making that point that karuna is due to Radha rani.

Sastra mentions He left Golok behind and came to earthly planet, Bharatvarsa ki jai. To give relief to bestow their mercy with Hare Krnsa.

Caitanya Mahaprabhu says by giving up the nectar those who demand give me poison they are fools. Gauranga came for them.

Holy name is the wealth of Golok, so Lord Gauranga left His abode and He comes down to give nectar to give the holy name to the whole world. In order to offer the mellow madhurya bhava, Srinagar rasa or Vraja bhava and Vraja bhakti.

Hari has now assumed the form the word sundar speaks more of beauty than the word beauty these are limitations of english. Dharma is dharma its not religion, religion is not dharma.

As Rupa Goswami is writing in his Vidagdha Madhav the whole beauty has manifestated; Golden complexion, not just golden but molten gold tapta kanchan.

Gauranga
So having described Gauranga introducing how he looks like he kindly appears he comes after long long time. After long time he comes, once in one day of Brahma otherwise Krsna has said in Gita.

sambhavami yuge yuge

But Gaurangas appearance in kalpe kalpe.

Svayam Bhagvan appears in one day of Brahma during the day of 7th Manu each Manu has 71 cycles of Catur yuga then that is one Manus period during this Manus cycle so this one is 28th cycle
During the 28th cycle of this Catur yuga Krsna appears after Dwapara yuga

Followed by sri krsna caiatnya mahaprabha. The same Krsna appears but now he has appeared along with Radha rani all associates of Krsna appears. Gaurana appears. The whole Golok descend with this I like to remind you that Golok has two parts one is Vrndavana other part is Navadvipa also called as Svetadvipa but this is not where Visnu lies on Anantasea. So Radha Krsna are in Vrndavan so is Caitanya Mahaprabhu is in Svetadvipa part of Golok eternally

World is in trouble that’s not the case Caitanya Mahaprabhu is eternally there. Golok is nija dhama of Radha Krsna and also of Lord Gauranga. Those are the pastimes of Goloka. Radharani appears and asta sakshi nanada yasodha and cows and cowherd boys and than Gauranga Mahaprabhu appears 536 years ago. So this the continuation of this pastimes. Radha Krsnas pastimes takes placein Vrndavana.

Acarya says this is parisita lila, you know parisaita lila. At the end of the book there is appendix or the book is complete and more has to said They are not less importance they are of equal importance. Unless you refer the appendix understand that digest that than you will have complete picture of the book.

Lord appeared to share unnat ujawala rasa madhurya rasa. So this is Caitanya Mahaprabhus opinion.
You should all worship Vrndavana dhama ki jai.
So Krsna has become devotee of Krsna.

Bhakta rupa –Caitanya Mahaprabhu has become bhakta of Krsna.
By his example he is teaching the whole world. Krsna is Bhagavat Gita tells do this do that but he does not do it himself. But Krsna as Caitanya Mahaprabhu follows that he becomes devotee and follows all those instruction he becomes a great devotee of aradhya bhagavn

Caiatnya mahaprabhu is worshipping Krsna. How to worship krsna in age of Kali. Caiatnya mahaprabhu comes down and he is chanting hare krnsa..

Not only worship Krsna but also worship the dhama, so much love for Vrndavana as soon as he started chanting
You can’t do that meditation of Satya yuga archanam no one does that properly. So as Caitanya Mahaprabhu started chanting the holy name as his chanting was pure and offencless. He stared running towards Vrndavana.

Yes you wish to worship you hould worship Krsna as Radha rani or Gopis wroshipped Krsna. He is strongly recommending Vraja bhakti. You wish to read scripturses read what? Grantha raja Srimad Bhagavtam ki jai
Some other religions are very proud how many books we dnt have just a book but we have library of books this si something to think a bout srila Prabhpada says these are just like pocket dictionary

It’s a ocean and it’s just unlimited when Caitanya Mahaprabhu his favoraite pastime to hear Jaidev Goswamis Gita Goivnd or his own compilation Siksastakam caitanya mahaprabhu would spend sleepless nights and dive deeper and sharing the commenatrries with Svarupa Damodhar Ramananda Ray.

Rest of the world is they fight or strive for 4 achievements 4 pursartha dharma, artha, kama, moksha. That’s the limit.

What Caitanya Mahaprabhu has to offer is also super excellent all the items from Golol. So that Lord is offering this to the most fallen people of the Kaliyuga.

Mahaprabhu danced and he relished chanting and dancing and he shared and propagated that’s why he is knows mahavadanyaya. This dhama is also called Audarya dhama from here he propagated Madhurya of Vrndavana. Vrndavana is known for Madhurya and Mayapur is known for Audarya. They will be distributed in every town and every village of this world.

Will reach where? Every village every town of Bangal, of India every nook and corner of this whole world. You think this will happen? All ready happening.

Srila Prabhupada travelled 14 times around the world. He also asked us to do padayatras so that holy name will reach every town and every village. So what has happened these 50 years? Mayapur festival time devotees form 70 countries reach here. So holy name has reached, holy name has reached.

Caitanya mangal says golden period 10000 years why it’s called golden period this is Gauranga times whose time is this? Gauranga time.

Gaura Premamnanda hari hari bol

Hari Hari. The house is full here today in the Thane temple. What will you do in the future and where will you see them all? Maybe you’ll have to sit them on your lap or your shoulders. So we welcome you all here. Jagannatha Swami ki jai. I was about to say that I am very pleased but because Jagannatha Swami is present here, I will say that Jagannatha Swami is pleased by your presence here.

For your information I can tell you that this Jagannatha in this temple is not the Jagannatha of Iskcon Thane here, am I right? He is the lord of the universe but here he is the lord of Krishna Darshan Prabhu and he will stay seated here on top of the building. This is where he will continue to be worshiped and you can also go there, they can go there can’t they?

We must ask permission of the proprietor of lord Jagannatha. And yes, if you do go then they will give you Prashad also, so can they all come to your home to take darshan of Jagannatha, yes? Oh he is saying that you have already all been there to his home for darshan. Atvthe moment there are festivals being celebrated for lord Jagannatha throughout the whole country. Just a few days ago I was in Jagannatha Puri. Jagannatha Puri dham ki jai!

On that day it was occasion of snana yatra but on that day we just saw the snana yatra only, we did not bathe, well we did not bathe Jagannatha. We had had a bath ourselves but we did not bathe Jagannatha (laughter). When the priests were bathing lord Jagannatha, we were watching them and as we did so we were thinking in our minds, ‘how wonderful it would be if we could also bathe lord Jagannatha?’

So there is a possibility that lord Jagannatha has noted that this person wanted to do this. So I was thinking that the lord has now been fulfilled by the lord. What I just saw that day I was able to do today by bathing lord Jagannatha. I also did whatever I did on your behalf also and so what can we say about lord Jagannatha?

Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has also said
jayati jayati devo devaki nandano ‘sau. What we see in the foreign countries is that some people upon looking at lord Jagannatha become scared, ‘how can he be God?! It is not possible!’ Not just this but You may know what happened with Indradyumna Swami Maharaja, not Swami but just Indradyumna Maharaja. This King Indradyumna was the one who arranged for the installation of these deities and the opening of the Jagannatha temple.

He gave one carpenter the job to carve the lord who was in the form of a log of wood, Daru Brahma. The carpenter’s tools were not working and they would break as soon as he would try to carve the form of the lord and his hands would be shaking to make the job even more difficult. Before him many others had come and had gone also and at the end one carpenter came who was Visvakarma himself.

He spoke and said, ‘I will carve the form of the lord from this log of wood, Daru Brahma.’ This Daru is not the alcohol which is drunk (laughter). Daru means a cast like a stick or log of Brahma which means Brahman, the supreme. He was the supreme lord who was initially in the form of Nila Madhava and so this is the very detailed and deep history of lord Jagannatha.

He himself became the log of wood for the deity and then he ordered that his deity be made from that log and then King Indradyumna will be able to worship that form of the lord. Then the job of sculpting the deity from the log of wood was given to who? It was Visvakarma and the deal was that until the deity is not completely made, he said ‘I will be the only one alone in the room. The doors and curtains must be closed and I will be by myself and if somebody intrudes or disturbs me during this time then I will not continue this work of sculpting that deity and the work will be left undone.

So for many day this work of sculpting the deity went on behind closed doors but this Visvakarma Ji was taking a long time, he is not just any ordinary carpenter. So King Indradyumna – I am calling him King Indradyumna but not to be confused with the disciple of Srila Prabhupada in Iskcon called Indradyumna Maharaja also.

So here, King Indradyumna was very anxious and he should be anxious for the darshan of the lord. He was very impatient you could say for taking darshan of the deities, to install them in the temple and also to open that temple. Therefore after some days he could not wait any longer and so he was knocking on the door, ‘may I come in sir?’ Somebody was also asking me like this today.

So at first he could hear some work happening, ‘khat khat khat’ and then the noise stopped and the King then opened the door hurriedly. When he looked inside he suddenly realised, ‘what have I done? The sculpting of the deities has not been completed. It is still incomplete because I have come in. This is not a beautiful form of the lord here in front of me, this is an incomplete form of the lord.

It is only half done and where are his hands and there is no clue to where the legs and feet are. The eyes are so big and look quite fearsome. How will I be able to worship this deity? Krishna does not look like this and Balaram? Forget it! This kind of Balaram? Krishna’s each limb is beautiful but this deity does not have all his limbs and there is no information about some limbs that are missing.

Being beautiful is a complete different matter!’ Then, ‘Narayan, Narayan.’ So who reached there? Narada Muni. How do you all know, were you there at the time? Laughter. Lord Narayana’s name is connected to Narada Muni. Just like immediately upon seeing the Hare Krishna devotees, what do you all say? ‘Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna!’

So as soon as one hears the name of Narayana one knows, ‘Jai Narada!’ In this way Narada Muni is also remembered in connection to this chanting. So Narada Muni upon reaching the scene asked, ‘what is the problem, what has happened here? Why are you lamenting and looking so miserable and hopeless?’

King Indradyumna replied, ‘look for yourself! Is the lord’s form meant to look like this? I wanted to install the deities as quickly as possible and I gave this carpenter the job to do but he has left it incomplete and gone away. How will the installation take place now? At that time Narada Muni told the King, ‘these deities are not incomplete and in fact they are more than complete.’

Do you understand that which I am saying in English? More than complete which means that not only are they complete but they are more then complete. They are fully and wholly complete and how is this? Narada ji had previously spoken on this subject matter. This was on a certain occasion which had occurred at another time and I wont speak upon that right now.

The lord had manifested this form before and Narada Muni was witness to this. So he said ‘I have seen this form of the lord before! Just like when I had seen the forms of Krishna and Balaram along with Subhadra before, I remember this very well that this is that very same form and manifestation that I witnessed then. The same darshan I am having now of your deities, as I had seen them in person back then.

It was exactly the same form as how Jagannatha is now in this deity and Balaram is the exact same and so is Subhadra, just like when I saw them then. Krishna, Balaram and Subhadra- are you all listening, yes? When they had heard the story of Vrindavan and the residents of Vrindavan, and how the residents of Vrindavan were passing their days, because Krishna and Balaram who were originally from Vrindavan went and resided in Dwaraka thereafter.

They were originally in Vrindavan but after going to Dwaraka they never returned back to Vrindavan. When leaving Vrindavan to go to Mathura, they had told the residents that they would be returning very soon. He said ‘I am just now coming back’ but

Soduniya Gopinath Krsna Mathuresi Gela….akrurane raath sajavila …ratha
(Marathi abhang)

Translation
Listen oh gopi’s, Krishna is leaving to go to Mathura and Akrura is gettimg the chariot ready to take them..

There is this bhajan that Kamsa had sent Akrura, ‘go and immediately bring them!’ Who? ‘Krishna and Balaram and bring them to Mathura.’ So Akrura went and there is a marathi abhang, devotional song. So at that time all the residents of Vrindavan and especially the gopi’s were told this, that Krishna would come back soon. Then of course Krishna did not return after a few days and also for eighteen years he stayed in Mathura.

He did not return to Vrindavan and Krishna himself was not pleased about this fact but he was helpless in a sense as there were some important reasons for why Krishna had to stay behind in Mathura. Then Krishna tells Uddhava, ‘oh Uddhava come and sit down here with me and I will tell you something from my heart.’ Now it will be understood why Krishna continued to stay in Mathura and did not return back to Vrindavan.

In Mathura Krishna is saying to Uddhava ‘please take a seat Uddhava and I will tell you something which is in my mind and my heart.’ ‘Please speak oh lord,’ Uddhava said. Krishna then said

Udho Mohi Braj Bisrat Nahi
(Surdas bhajan)

Translation
Oh Uddhava, I am missing Braja very much

‘I just cannot forget Vrindavan.’ So Krishna says whilst remembering everything about Vrindavan, ‘I cannot forget Vrindavan.’ The he sent Uddhava with a message and this is called the message of Uddhava and in this way Krishna remained in Mathura for eighteen years and after that he went further on to Dwarka where he then started to live. After some time he also got married to how many queens? Sixteen thousand, one hundred and on top of that eight more who were the principal queens.

Rukmini Maiya ki jai! Rukmini is number one and she was from Maharashtra. You know that, right? No you didn’t know that. You are thinking‘it’s useless being Maharashtrian,’ (laughter). Rukmini was from Kaundinyapura, and where is this? In Amravati? So that Rukmini from Amravati is, well beginning with Rukmini Krishna married all these queens and then Krishna remained there and so did Balaram.

Also all the residents of Mathura became the residents of Dwarka, you know this. At one time there was nobody in Dwarka and Krishna didn’t have a living quarters or any place in Dwarka. There was no address of Krishna’s in Dwarka but then during one such night, all the residents of Mathura had to relocate within one night.

In that one night there were palaces made for each resident and the whole town was planned out and not only planning but the execution of the plan also. And this all took place within one night and Krishna Balaram made arrangements to send everyone to Dwarka and then they again came back alone to Mathura. This was to battle with Jarasandha and Kalayavana had also reached there who was called Adhama, a Yavana.

So Krishna was in this way residing in Dwarka but his heart was in Vrindavan. ‘I lost my heart in Hare Krishna Pandal, Hare Krishna festival.’ So Krishna also lost his heart in Vrindavan although he was residing in Dwarka as a duty. There is a duty that needs to be performed but if he had his own choice, then he would have chosen Vrindavan. So Krishna also was missing Vrindavan and not only the land of Vrindavan but the residents of Vrindavan, the Vrajavasi’s.

The Vrajavasi’s were missing Krishna and- do you understand Vrajavasi? Vraja you understand, Vrindavan dham ki jai!

Nilachala nivasaya nityaya paramatmane

O Lord Jagannath, the controller and savior of the entire universe, kindly save the people of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh from the super cyclone Phailin.?May you kindly have your merciful glance upon us and save us from the impending danger and destruction by Phailin. Only you can protect us.

Right now the lord has become, or rather he is going to become- actually not yet but the lord is going to become Nilacala vasi, resident of Nilacala. So the Vrajavasi’s were missing Krishna, you do understand what I am saying when I say they were missing him, yes? I think this sort if language everyone understands.

Miss and miss, not miss. We are not missing the miss. Miss India and miss.. and the residents of Dwarka were missing the Vrajavasi’s and in this way they were missing each other but Krishna still was not able to go or you could say that the residents of Dwarka were not letting him go there. The Vrajavasi’s really wanted Krishna, ‘we want Krishna, we want Krishna!’ Can you say this, ‘we want Krishna?’

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare

When we chant the holy name, what is it that we are saying? We want Krishna. To say Hare Krishna means ‘we want you.’ Anyway there were letter exchanges from Vrindavan there would be news and letters, where they would send letters and Krishna and others also would give their reply. The postman at one time walked from Dwarka to Vrindavan and the back from Vrindavan to Dwarka with the replies to the letter.

This is a Padayatra and it’s a very slow postal service, right? Then smart Krishna gave that postman a horse so now when the postman gets upon the horse what will happen? It will become a speed post. So the fast communication continued for a while but there was still no solution to the real problem. Krishna had already known and Rukmini had also said, ‘do you know? when Radharani feels separation from you, she feels so much unbearable pain no, you don’t know!’

Krishna said, ‘I don’t know? Have you not read the Bhagavad Gita? As you open the Bhagavatam, what is written? janmady asya yato ’nvayad itaratas carthe?v abhijnah svarat

om namo bhagavate vasudevaya

O my Lord, Sri Krsna, son of Vasudeva, O all-pervading Personality of Godhead, I offer my respectful obeisances unto You. I meditate upon Lord ?r? K???a because He is the Absolute Truth and the primeval cause of all causes of the creation, sustenance and destruction of the manifested universes. He is directly and indirectly conscious of all manifestations, and He is independent because there is no other cause beyond Him. It is He only who first imparted the Vedic knowledge unto the heart of Brahmaji, the original living being. By Him even the great sages and demigods are placed into illusion, as one is bewildered by the illusory representations of water seen in fire, or land seen on water. Only because of Him do the material universes, temporarily manifested by the reactions of the three modes of nature, appear factual, although they are unreal. I therefore meditate upon Him, Lord Sri Krsna, who is eternally existent in the transcendental abode, which is forever free from the illusory representations of the material world. I meditate upon Him, for He is the Absolute Truth.

‘What am I like? I am abhijnah. Jnah means full of knowledge and abhi means all, so I am all-knowing. I am like this and the Bhagavatam is also declaring this and you, Rukmini are saying that I dont know?!’ So Krishna was speaking like this but at the same time he did accept that ‘yes yes it could be that I do not actually know Radharani’s feelings of separation and the pain she is going through.

I really Do you not know her heart and her mind,’ and then you know what? Krishna took a vow that ‘next time I come as an incarnation, I will become Radha, in the form of Radharani I will appear.’ And so who did the lord become? Gauranga. Radha bhava dyuti suvalitam naumi krnsa-svarupam

radha krsna pranaya vikrtir hladini saktir asmad

Translation
The loving affairs of Sri Radha and Krsna are transcendental manifestations of the Lord’s internal pleasure-giving potency. Although Radha and Krsna are one in Their identity, They separated Themselves eternally. Now these two transcendental identities have again united, in the form of Sri Krsna Caitanya. I bow down to Him, who has manifested Himself with the sentiment and complexion of Srimati Radharani although He is Krsna Himself

Krishna became Radharani’s feelings or her heart you could say. He became Radha conscious, conscious of Radha and he took her feelings, her emotions and her complexion. We call Chaitanya Mahaprabhu Gauranga and what do we call Radharani? Gaurangi. So Gaura-anga. Are you all listening? Gaura- anga , his limbs are white in complexion. Then Gaurangi, her limbs are similarly white in complexion.

Letter exchanges were happening but there was still no solution to the problem and that’s when Krishna had an idea. ‘I will go to Kuruksetra at the time of sunset and I will go on the pretext of bathing in some pure river at an auspicious time.’ In this way Krishna, Dwarkadhish made a plan to go to Kuruksetra to bathe in Surya Kunda. This Surya Kunda is a famous lake at Kuruksetra.

Then Krishna again wrote a letter to different devotees, ‘dear Radha, he gopi, he Lalite, he Vishake, he Nanda baba, he Yashoda Mayi, he Subal Sakha.’ He wrote a personal letter to each of these devotees. With great respect he signed it yours sincerely and then the postman bought the letter to Vrindavan by speed post. There was a home delivery and as the devotees open their letters and read them, this was the best news in their whole lives, you could says.

‘Now we will meet, now we will meet, we will meet.’ And it was written in the letter ’okay so Dwarka is a city very far from Vrindavan but Kuruksetra is not so far. So I am coming there, so you come too and we will meet.’ There is also something written here in Iskcon Thane about the meeting of the spiritual master and the disciple. The Vrajavasi’s got ready for this meeting whilst the residents of Dwarka had already reached Kuruksetra on their individual chariots.

The residents of Vrindavan then arrived in their individual carts and from the other side in Dwarka there were many chariots and in this way there was a great reunion at Kuruksetra. During this time, now you understanding this whole Mahabharata that I am reciting to you all. Its not exactly Mahabharata but what I mean is that I am extending the story so much and you will soon understand the reason behind this.

So please listen with attention. So all the residents of Dwarka were staying in their tents at Kuruksetra, Srimad Bhagavatam describes some of this but some other books describe this is more detail. The meeting of the residents of Vrindavan and the residents of Dwarka were meeting after one hundred years. They had not met for one hundred years and Radharani had also been cursed at one time before that ‘you will become separated from Krishna and you will have to stay far away from him.

You will not even have the opportunity to see Krishna’s face and you will be separated for one hundred years.’ So Radharani and the gopi’s also have now reached Kuruksetra and Krishna then
meets them all including the other residents of Vrindavan beginning with Yashoda. How must that meeting have been? Actually this is all so beyond our thinking and understanding, it is called achintya, beyond our comprehension.

We cannot even imagine what it must be like, we can lightly guess what that meeting may have been like between Krishna and Yashoda. Krishna also met his friends and do you understand when they used to wear underwear such as nappies together? That is how young they were when they were together and in this underwear they would go as cowherd boys to herd the cows.

Choti Choti Gaiya Chotay Chotay Gwaal Chotoso
(Krishna bhajan)

Translation
The little cows and little cowherds, there is also my little Krishna (madhan gopal) amongst them all

The friends are older now and Krishna is also older but now they are meeting after so long. That meeting bought so much joy to all parties and then there has been a special reunion with Radharani where they have met in solitude. All these meetings are happening in Kuruksetra and it is not at the time of war also. That will happen after this so this is Krishna’s first visit to Kuruksetra.

When they go to visit again the battlefield of Kuruksetra then what will happen? Mahabharata, the history of great India. It was a world war and you could say that was the first world war. The world did not note this down as the first world war in history. They missed out this war, they missed the world war which all the kings and great monarchs were present and the whole world was involved.

There were eighteen aksauhini divisions in the armies and six hundred and forty million soldiers gave their lives in this war. At that time there was a lot of population and nowadays they are saying that the population has increased and that it is increasing too much. No, this is not true and the world has seen more population than this in the past.

The so called historians say that the first world war occurred when, who knows? 1918, who will understand here nineteen hundred and eighteen (laughter)? So 1918 was the year of the first world war and the second world war was in 1945, so the first and the second but what about the Kuruksetra war? Have you ever thought about this? I am bringing to your notice so be thoughtful, start thinking.

This is why the history which is taught these days in school, this history has to be re-written. The Mahabharata war is also not exactly the first because this world has seen many wars prior to this also but in the more recent years there has been the Kuruksetra war which was certainly the first world war. Then you can say the 1918 war was the second world war and that the other one was the third one.

So you should also make some protest regarding this and I know that the governmental authorities are seriously thinking that the world history now needs to be re-written. When I used to go to school we were also taught like this. We were told that lord Buddha was the first incarnation of the lord one and a half thousand years ago. Then Chandragupta Maurya came under the leadership and then the country of Kalinga which was a war led by Ashoka of Odhisha.

Then there came Darwin’s theory of evolution and according to this theory he was saying ‘how could there have been a war five thousand years ago with humans and they are using weapons? Forget it, this is not at all possible. At that time the most evolved species were the monkeys and we are all the descendants and children of the monkeys.’ Through the evolution process beginning with amoebae.

Oh they have forgotten the actual Ba who is Vithoba and we are now speaking about this amoebae. So they are saying that the whole process of evolution started with this amoebae but we know that the first living entity created was Brahma. He was a completely advanced living entity and he didn’t just have one head but he had four heads. He is called the four headed Brahma and this is all described in bhagavatam and the puranas that he at once created the eight million four hundred thousand species of life.

jalaja nava lakshani sthavara laksha vimsati krimayo rudra sankhyakah, pakshinam dasa lakshanam, girimsa lakhani pasau manushyah catur-lakshani

There are 900,000 species of aquatic animals, 2,000,000 species of immovable beings like the trees and vegetation, 1,100,000 species of reptiles and insects, 1,000,000 species of birds , 3,000,000 species of four legged beasts and 400, 000 species of human beings.

So this has been said and in this way the grand total becomes 84 lakhs, eight million species. In this way Darwin has made the whole world into fools and also the English have done some great brainwashing to the people of Bharat, India. Whatever is described in our scriptures is the history of the world, just like Mahabharata is a historical event also. Iti-h-asa, means ‘like this it all happened.’ So it is all factual, they are all facts.

It is not mythology but fact. It is all described in the scriptures and the puranas and srimad bhagavatam as well as Mahabharata. So this theory of Darwin has destroyed the intelligence of the whole world and unfortunately the people of India, Bharat have also been effected in this way of thinking. Anyway Kuruksetra dham ki jai!

So I was saying that when Krishna reached Kuruksetra, it was not the time of the battle of Mahabharata. This was the first visit but the next time he goes he will go as Partha- Sarathi, the charioteer of Partha, Arjuna.

tatah shvetairhayairyukte mahati syandane sthitau madhavah pandavashchaiva divyau shankhau pradadhmatuh
(BG 1.14)

Translation
Then, from amidst the Pandava army, seated in a glorious chariot drawn by white horses, Madhav and Arjun blew their Divine conch shells

It is said in bhagavad gita that the chariot which Krishna was driving had horses which were white in colour. Details like this such as two personalities being present on this chariot, and who were they? Madhava was there and Pandava was there. Pandava here means just Arjuna, all the Pandavas were not sitting there, just Arjuna is there. And both then sounded their transcendental conches.

panchajanyam hrishikesho, the conch which hrishikesh sounded was called panchajanya.

panchajanyam hrishikesho devadattam dhananjayah paundram dadhmau maha shankham bhima karma vrikodarah
(BG 1.15)

Translation
Hrishikesh blew his conch shell, called Panchajanya, and Arjun blew the Devadutta. Bheem, the voracious eater and performer of herculean tasks, blew his mighty conch, called Paundra

So lord Hrishikesh’s conch was called Panchajanya and Devadutta was the name of dhananjayah’s conch shell. dhananjayah is the name of Arjuna. Then there are the other four Pandavas and when they blew their conches those conches have been named also. This is not imagination but it is all a fact and so going back to the meeting at Kuruksetra, the residents of Dwarka and Vrindavan stayed for many months there.

Yes I have to stop? Sure. How did I find out? Okay so in this one place all the residents of Dwarka got together okay? And where was this? Kuruksetra. And then Rohini Maiya ki jai. Rohini, the mother of Balaram knew what must have been happening to the devotees in Vrindavan. The residents of Marhura became residents of Dwarka and Krishna had also joined them and so he is also a resident of Dwarka.

But there was a time when Rohini was also in Vrindavan before going to Dwarka and she saw with her own eyes and experienced what would be the condition of the residents of Vrindavan at the moment. Due to Krishna not being present in Vrindavan, she could understand the condition of their minds and their situation in Vrindavan. These were not normal times for them and that is why Rohini wanted to address all the residents of Dwarka on behalf of the residents of Vrindavan.

Before starting her address to them all, Rohini told Subhadra what she should do. She said ‘there is a chance of Krishna and Balaram’s coming here but please do not let them come in because of what I am going to be speaking about.’ What is she going to speak about? The feelings of separation, whose separation? Mother Yashoda’s separation and the cows separation from Krishna and also the monkey’s separation.

Everyone there were feeling intense love for Krishna in separation, ‘what kind of life is this that we are without you?’ Here we are not talking about Krishna but we are saying ‘what kind of living is this without our husbands? What kind of life will that be.’ The only way one can say this is in regards to Krishna for it to fit, to make sense. You cannot even say this in regards to anything or anyone else, it shouldn’t be said.

It can only be said, ‘how can one live without Krishna?’ Nobody else can be spoken of in this way. Do you understand this? If you understand you will become Krishna conscious. In this way Rohini started her talks but just as Rohini had been thinking that Krishna and Balaram will certainly come, this is exactly what happened and they entered the scene.

Subhadra had been told that if they came they should be sent away a little fat from the place where the talks would be going on but they wanted to come in. Poor Subhadra, the poor younger sister had to agree to Krishna and Balaram’s wanting to go in and in this way Krishnaand Balaram along with Subhadra were listening at the door as Rohini was speaking.

The subject matter was the condition of the devotees of Vrindavan for the past one hundred years. All the Vrajavasi’s were thinking ’what kind of life is this without Krishna?’ In other words you can say ‘sunyayitam jagat sarvam govinda virahena me.’

Yugayitam nimesena caksusa pravrsayitam sunyayitam jagat sarvam govinda virahena me
(Siksastaka 7)

Translation
O Govinda! Feeling Your separation I am considering a moment to be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence

Without Govinda the whole world is vacant, zero. It should have a one in front and then one zero, then add another zero, another zero. If there is a one in front of the zeros then it has some value and it becomes a ten or hundred, a thousand and then a hundred thousand and like that. If there is not a one in the front then all these zeros together are just one big zero, sunyayitam jagat sarvam govinda virahena me. Nama bina kichu nahiko aro, caudda bhuvana majhe

krsna nama sudha koriya pan, jurau bhakativinoda pran, nama bina kichu nahiko aro, caudda bhuvana majhe
(Arunodaya Kirtana)

Translation
Drink the pure nectar of the holy name of Krsna. There is nothing but the name to be had in the fourteen worlds. It has filled the soul of Sri Bhaktivinoda Thakura

Bhaktivinode Thakur says there is nothing but the holy name in these fourteen worlds. So as Rohini was speaking, they were listening and as they listened they were contemplating upon what was beings said. As this was happening you could say that a spiritual deformation began to occur with their bodily limbs. There was a lot of change in their bodies as if their limbs had melted and as they listened to each and every detail of what Rohini was saying, it was like an eye opener.

You know they say, ‘that was really an eye opener.’ Literally their eyes opened so wide and big and they were thinking ‘really? Wow! What, can this be true?’ So their eyes were opening wide, their eyes are big and open, right, Jagannatha Baladeva and Subhadra’s eyes? It was as if they had started to think ‘it’s better not to exist than hear this. Let us finish our existence.’

So their arms and legs started to melt as
they could not tolerate what they were hearing. ‘We cannot tolerate that because of us Yashoda and the other residents of Vrindavan, including the gopi’s and our boyfriends are so troubled.’

So at that moment Narada Muni had arrived there, ‘Narayana Narayana.’ Where had he come? Where? Yes, he had arrived in Nilacala and who did he meet? King Indradyumna who was at that time remorseful for what reason? ‘This is not the form of the lord. How will I be able to install these unfinished deities?’

At that time Narada Muni comes and says ‘no, no. These deities are all complete. When the lord displayed his love, it was not because someone may come and take a video of such a display or exhibition. This form if Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra gives us darshan in such a way that it reminds us that it is not only the devotees who love the lord, no.

What about the lord, does he love his devotees or not? This darshan of lord Jagannatha is the deity of love, love for his devotees. There is love for the lord and the other is love for the devotee that the lord has. When love for the lord arises in the heart of of the devotee, this is called asta vikara, the eight transcendental ecstasies. These are manifest in the devotees and the symptoms are state of being stunned, perspiration, standing of the bodily hairs on end, faltering of the voice, trembling, fading of the body’s color, tears and devastation.

These are all visible on the bodies and in the minds of the devotees so also when the lord manifested his love for his devotees, he showed that love by taking on this transcendental form of Jagannatha. Jagannatha Baladeva Subhadra ki jai! So try and understand the lord in this way, Jagannatha Swami is coming and actually you are making arrangements and prayers for Jagannatha’s arrival, I can see preparations are going on and the alter is being made. So one day, well when will that day come? Kabe ha’be se dina amar.

kabe ha’be bolo se dina amar (amar) aparadha ghuci’, suddha name ruci, krpa bale ha’be hr?doye sancar
(kabe ha’be bolo 1)

Translation
When, O when, will that day be mine? When will you give me your blessings, erase all my offences and give my heart a taste [ruci] for chanting the Holy Name in purity?

Pray that this day comes quickly for us and then we will once again come together. This does not mean that Tulsi this day you will not come here to the temple because one has to wait patiently. So as you wait, continue to come here also but may that day come quickly as well when we will come together in Iskcon Thane to celebrate the festival of the installation of the deities (shouts of Haribol).

Jagannath Snan Yatra

Jagannath Snan Yatra (Birth of Jagannathji)

We all are devotees of Jagannath, worshiper of Jagannath, only because of Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, He worshipped Jagannath, Baladeva, Subhadra and He preferred to perform His final pastimes in Jagannath Puri and Jagannath was worshipable deity of Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. When we take darsana, whole world of course take’s darsana, Gaudiya Vaishnavas take darsana, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu took darsana. So, what do they see, when we see Jagannath, we take darsana of Jagannath, what are we seeing actually? what are we understanding, when we take darsana of Jagannath or what the darsana is reminding us of when we take darshan of Jagannath?

Whole world is also taking darsana, but Jagannath is giving the darsana the ‘true darsana’ to Gaudiya Vaishnavas as we understand Jagannath through the eyes also through the vision of Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Lord Jagannath loves His devotees so much. Lord says, He was saying that to Durvasa Muni.

sadhavo hrdayam mahyam
sadhunam hrdayam tv aham
mad-anyat te na jananti
naham tebhyo manag api

Translation
The pure devotee is always within the core of My heart, and I am always in the heart of the pure devotee. My devotees do not know anything else but Me, and I do not know anyone else but them.[SB 9.4.68]

My devotees are my heart. Devotees are in my heart, devotees are my heart likewise, they are also in my heart and I am their heart. These are expression of the feelings of Lord. This is what we understand, what is in mind of Lord Jagannath. Thinking of Jagannath, when we say like this, I love Lord. We all love Lord but when we take darsana, the Lord is showing us or expressing us or communicating with His vision. The Lord says l loves my devotee. This is like a two-way traffic.

It’s not that we love the Lord and Lord doesn’t care for us, no. This form of Jagannath Lord is making it very clear, letting the whole world now take His darsana. He declares I love my devotee, my dear devotees. So, this is darsana that we should be getting as we see Jagannath, I love you.

And also, when we take darsana of Jagannath, I mean, His feet they have entered His trunks and body, but hands the half of the hands are still out. When we see, from the elbow onwards they are out and rest is in. So, when we take darsana, Lord is standing, His hands are forward. So, again some devotees, this is their realization that, Lord is trying to pick up His devotee like a mother tries to pick up the child and lift the child and kiss the child or embrace the child or love the child.

So, Jagannath as we take darsana He has hands partially out and He is sending His hands, attempting to pick living entity, to pick us, love us, accept us, embrace us. Or those who are Gaudiya vaishnav who chant,
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna
Hare Hare HareRam Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare

By chanting and chanting this Hare Krishna mahamantra. This revives our love for Lord and resulting in understanding Jagannath. Understanding the form of Jagannath, understanding the heart of Jagannath, understanding what is in the mind of Jagannath and having that two way traffic of reciprocation with Jagannath this is the result of chanting and hearing about Jagannath. Chanting Hare Krishna results in this understanding, results in this realisation that we are talking about.

Prem pumartho mahan attending love of Godhead is the goal of human form of life and that is achieved by chanting of Hare Krishna Hare Krishna and by taking darsana of Jagannath, serving Jagannath, performing snana yatra for Jagannath, rath yatra of Jagannath and worshiping Jagannath we achieve love of Jagannath, love of Krishna and love of Godhead.

So, you may be taking part in snana yatra forever you may be special or some of you may be in Jagannath Puri or some of devotees, ISKCON devotees may be in Jagannath Puri also participating in snana yatra. So, whatever may be in Jagannath Puri, Jagannath is also here at your home. Yet many of you have Jagannath deities to perform snana yatra.

Today we had I don’t know how we had gone 609 or 815 participants, today I had forgot to announce in beginning. 627 are on the track reporting today. Let’s give congratulations. Wish you happy snana yatra. Jagannath ratha Yatra. Every snan yatra, ratha yatra is incomplete without Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna without chanting. It is not one step forward. Chanting should be always there.
Jagannath snan yatra festival ki jai.

All glories to the assembled devotees, you understand this, yes? All the devotees who have gathered together just like in the battle of Kuruksetra all the warriors had come together, samaveta yuyutsavah.

(Bhagavad Gita 1.1)

Translation
Dhrtarastra said: O Sanjaya, after assembling in the place of pilgrimage at Kuruksetra, what did my sons and the sons of Pandu do, being desirous to fight?

The Pandavas were there and some others were there but in that way we say all glories to all the assembled devotees. Prabhupada used to often call out like this in the pranam prayers and he would certainly say what is translated as ‘all glories to the assembled devotees’ Hari Hari. What is the turn out today? Fifty? Forty six, okay.

We are reading from the Srimad Bhagavatam seventh canto, fifteenth chapter verse forty six

nocet pramattam asad indriya vaji suta?nitvotpatham visaya dasyusu niksipanti?te dasyavah sahaya sutam amum tamo ‘ndhe?samsara kupa uru mrtyu bhaye ksipanti
(SB 7.15.46)

Translation
Otherwise, if one does not take shelter of Acyuta and Baladeva, then the senses, acting as the horses, and the intelligence, acting as the driver, both being prone to material contamination, inattentively bring the body, which acts as the chariot, to the path of sense gratification. When one is thus attracted again by the rogues of visaya — eating, sleeping and mating — the horses and chariot driver are thrown into the blinding dark well of material existence, and one is again put into a dangerous and extremely fearful situation of repeated birth and death.

Anyone wants to repeat? Fine, okay I alone will recite the sloka with word meaning which you can repeat after me. Are you all listening? We are listening to Prabhupada as he has written this so that is why you please listen with careful attention to the purport.

Without the protection of Gaura-Nitai -Krsna and Balarama – one cannot get out of the dark well of ignorance in material existence. Can they come out? No they cannot. This is indicated here by the word nocet, which means that one will always remain in the dark well of material existence. The living entity must get strength from Nitai-Gaura, or Krsna-Balarama. Jai Baladeva! Without the mercy of Nitai-Gaura, there is no way to come out of this dark well of ignorance. There is no other way, no other way, no other way. ‘For spiritual progress in this Age of Kali there is no alternative, there is no alternative, there is no alternative to the holy name, the holy name, the holy name of the Lord.’

This has been said in this way:

Translation
“I offer my respectful obeisances unto Sri Krsna Caitanya and Lord Nityananda

Are you also offering obeisances? There should also be some feeling when offering obeisances. We mustn’t just say that you are offering obeisances but within our minds we must do what? Actually offer obeisances in our hearts and minds.

They who are like the sun and moon. They have arisen simultaneously on the horizon of Gauda to dissipate the darkness of ignorance and thus wonderfully bestow benediction upon all.” This material world is a dark well of ignorance. The fallen soul in this dark well must take shelter of the lotus feet of Gaura-Nitai, for thus he can easily emerge from material existence. Without Their strength, simply attempting to get out of the clutches of matter by speculative knowledge will be insufficient.

Hari Hari. This chapter is called ‘instructions for civilised human beings’ you can call this instructions for civilised human beings or you can say they are instructions to become civilised human beings. And the one who is giving the instructions is Narayana himself, who is this? It isn’t lord Narayana but rather he who is always chanting ’Narayana Narayana.’

He is the one who gives Narayana to everyone, that Naradji is speaking and this is the conversation which happened between King Yudishthira and Narada Muni in the seventh canto. Here King Yudishthira was listening and now we are listening. Who are we listening to? Narada Muni and his instructions have been repeated to us by Srila Prabhupada which we can speak about and translate also.

When Sri Krishna Balaram were installed, the next day on the morning walk Srila Prabhupada was saying ‘I have given you Krishna Balaram and therefore whatever problem you may have, you can go in front of Krishna Balaram and speak to them saying ‘sir! This is my difficulty. This is my problem and my you be able to resolve my dilemma.

Prabhupada has written here that Gaua Nitai and Krishna Balaram are the real protectors and in actual fact Krishna Balaram are Gaura Nitai and they are Rama and Lakshman of the Treta Yuga. In Dwapara Yuga they are Krishna Balaram and so in Kali Yuga they are here as Gaura Nitai ki jai! So they are the same personality and in each Yuga

In order to deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I advent Myself millennium after millennium

Krishna is therefore the only solution to all our problems and we keep emphasising upon this point that the Bhagavatam has the solution for every problem, the lord has the solution to whatever problem there may be. Whatever problem, this one or that one, you name it, each and every problem’s solution can only be solved by the lord, even the fear of death.

I have spoken on so many things already and so when our senses become out of control, they have been compared to horses. How are our senses? Like horses. The whip is compared to the intelligence and because there must be a chariot for all this to take place the material body is taken to be the chariot. yantrarudhani mayaya, we living entities are the passengers.

Ishvarah sarva bhutanam hrid deshe ‘rjuna tishthati?bhramayan sarva bhutani yantrarudhani mayaya
(B.G 18.61)

Translation
The Supreme Lord dwells in the hearts of all living beings, O Arjun. According to their karmas, He directs the wanderings of the souls, who are seated on a machine made of material energy

We have been seated on this machine of the material body and when there is talk of a machine then it is said ‘oh this is a forty horsepower engine or a twenty horsepower engine.’ So in the same way our body which is an engine, yantrarudhani mayaya, how much horsepower does it take? How many? Five horse powers and our five senses and the five horses, horsepowers. These horse continue to pull the body, or the chariot and our control over them becomes weakened.

The driver is sleeping or his intelligence is not working, he is dull minded. There is no power of discrimination which is the job of intelligence to determine what is right and what is wrong. Sometimes the senses perform the right type of work, good work, and then they perform bad deeds.

dhyayato visayan pumsah sangas tesupajayate
sangat sanjayate kamah
kamat krodho ‘bhijayate
(BG 2.62)

Translation
While contemplating the objects of the senses, a person develops attachment for them, and from such attachment lust develops, and from lust anger arises.

Krishna has said that if one is attached to the senses, visaya dasyusu niksipanti, the senses are there and they are likened to the horses are there and they are walking towards the sense objects, or rather they are running towards the objects of the senses. Then what happens? Dhyayato visayan pumsah, one is meditating upon the sense objects and the mind is there also, so Krishna is saying ‘sangas tesupajayate.’

Tesu means become attached to the senses, then sangat sanjayate kamah. By becoming attached to the sense objects, lust develops. When lust is not satisfied, what happens? kamat krodho ‘bhijayate. Anger then arises in us. Krodhad bhavati sammohah, then one becomes bewildered.

krodhad bhavati sammohah sammohat smriti vibhramah?smriti bhranshad buddhi nasho buddhi nashat pranashyati
BG 2.63)

Translation
Anger leads to clouding of judgment, which results in bewilderment of memory. When memory is bewildered, the intellect gets destroyed; and when the intellect is destroyed, one is ruined

What happens thereafter? Smriti bhranshad buddhi nasho, the intelligence is destroyed and after this? pranashyati, everything is ruined. Like this one is always aftaid and this is our actual situation. Then uru mrtyu bhaye ksipanti, the living entity is constantly in fear of death. This is our situation so it is important to see where our concentration is set.

Is it in Maya or is Krishna the object of our senses? That would make all the big difference like that between the earth and the sky. visayan pumsah sangas tesupajayate sangat sanjayate kamah. If one becomes attracted to the objects of the senses in this material world, if one is thinking of these objects, then lust develops, and then what happens to a person? This then turns into anger, krodhad by which one becomes blind.

The lust, kama is the first thing to make the living entity blind, as does anger. When one becomes angry what happens? He can do anything, who knows what a person in anger could do next? He could do anything. So no trust can be put into a lusty man or an angry man, they are the two enemies of the living entity. Altogether there are six enemies of the living entity.

So these six are kama lust, krodha anger, lobha greed, moha delusion, mada pride and matsarya miserliness. Are they all listed? These are our enemies and they make us blind. Then the power of discrimination and to be wise, which is the work of the intelligence becomes bereft of intelligence, foolish. Then the living entity is trapped in illusion of life and then

Translation
Being born again, dying again, and again lying in the mother’s womb; this samsara is extremely difficult to cross over. Save me, O destroyer of Mura, through your infinite compassion.

This prayer of Sankarachrya is also very intelligent. So he prayed to the lord, ‘prabhu prabhu. Help help help!’ First he told the lord what the problem is,

punarapi jananam punarapi maranam punarapi janani jathare sayanam,?iha samsare bahudusare krpaya’pare pahi murare

So this same problem is being spoken of here in different words and here Sankaracharya is using Sanskrit to explain the same problematic situation. At the end in this prayer he is saying’krpaya pare pahi murare. Protect me, protect me, help help help!’

When we chant Japa this is what we are saying, Hari Hari. What are you doing (aside)? We don’t have time to solve this, but we have time for Prashad. When we call the name of Krishna we are constantly praying. Where is my song book? I’m sorry I’m not organised. I thought I had it with me here.

Okay so I wanted to share this story with you, that when Krishna had his name giving ceremony, what did Gargacharya say that day when Krishna and Balaram had their name giving ceremony? Gargacharya said to Nanda Maharaja, do you want to hear? Shouts of Haribol!

Translation
To increase the transcendental bliss of the cowherd men of Gokula, this child will always act auspiciously for you. And by His grace only, you will surpass all difficulties

So this great fear that the living entity has of death, here this has been described as sarva durgani. Durga, when leaving the body becomes difficult, this also called Durga. When one makes a castle, the castle fort is called Durg and whoever is inside this fort, it is very difficult for them to come out of it and that is why it is called Durga.

To pass this place and to come out is very difficult, Durga. Anena sarva durgani, so many difficulties are there and there are so many obstacles in the way. This is what Gargacharya is saying, sarva durgani
yuyam anjas tarisyatha. ‘This child Krishna,’ he is saying ‘gopa gokula nandanah, whenever there may be some difficulties this child will help you overcome the difficulties.’

Puranena vraja pate, he is saying whenever those who were honest, sadhu the saints were harassed by thieves and aggressors, he is the one who raksymana, protected them. He is the protector of the devotees and the saints.

Translation
He whom Krsna protects, no one can kill, but if Krsna wants to kill someone, no one can give him protection

If Krishna wants to protect somebody then nobody can even touch a hair on that person’s head. So Gargacharya is saying visnu paksan ivasurah.

ya etasmin maha bhagah

narayo ’bhibhavanty etan
visnu paksan ivasurah
(SB 10.8.18)

Translation
Demons [asuras] cannot harm the demigods, who always have Lord Vishnu on their side. Similarly, any person or group attached to Krsna is extremely fortunate. Because such persons are very much affectionate toward Krsna, they cannot be defeated by demons like the associates of Kamsa [or by the internal enemies, the senses].

So that’s it. All we have to do is join the side of Vishnu. Vote for the team of Vishnu, vote for who? Who will you vote for? When you join Krishna’s party and become part of his team, then raksymana. Krishna will protect us from our enemies and he will sort them out. Because, whenever there are any problems, the Lord’s devotees shout ‘oh my God, help help!’

The problem is that everybody is remembering the Lord when they are in problem or in misery, but once that very same person finds some happiness, he forgets the Lord very easily. Although this is a great problem, there is also a solution to this problem. In happiness we must also always remember the lord and by doing so we become more inclined towards him and his devotional service.

This is why queen Kunti is wisely saying ‘oh my lord, please keep sending the calamities, keep sending them one after another!’

Vipadah santu tah sasvat
tatra tatra jagad guro
bhavato darsanam yat syad
apunar bhava darsanam

Translation
I wish that all those calamities would happen again and again so that we could see You again and again, for seeing You means that we will no longer see repeated births and deaths.

‘Whenever there is any problem I will run to you and I will be able to take your darshan. After taking you darshan what will happen? Apunar bhava darsanam, the problems will arise and I will run towards you and say to you

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna

Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare

So you will hear me crying out to you like this, because whenever your devotee calls you, you reach that place at once.’

asnaty anantah khalu tattva kovidaih
sraddha hutam yan mukha ijya namabhih
na vai tatha cetanaya bahis krte
hutasane paramahamsya paryaguh
(SB 4.21.41)

Translation
Although the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Ananta, eats through the fire sacrifices offered in the names of the different demigods, He does not take as much pleasure in eating through fire as He does in accepting offerings through the mouths of learned sages and devotees, for then He does not leave the association of devotees

Wherever the devotee may be remembering the lord and chanting his holy names, the lord in one moment reaches that place at once. ‘He Govinda He Krishna!’ Who cried out like this? Draupadi cried out like this and Krishna went there at once? How much cloth for her Sari dod the lord supply? More than a mountain.

Why does the lord not come? Because we do not call him in the same way Draupadi did, that is why the lord does not come to us. If we could cry out to the lord like Draupadi did or like queen Kunti did or Prahlad Maharaja, Druva Maharaja and all these kings like Srila Prabhupada Maharaja. They have prayed, the way in which they have called the Lord, the Lord will certainly come.

dehapatya kalatradisv
atma sainyesv asatsv api
tesam pramatto nidhanam
pasyann api na pasyati

Translation
Persons devoid of atma tattva do not inquire into the problems of life, being too attached to the fallible soldiers like the body, children and wife. Although sufficiently experienced, they still do not see their inevitable destruction

Sukadeva Goswami is saying that the attachment to all these persons if false attachment. You have set your guards outside your home to protect yourself and you have kept dogs also for your defense. There are so many arrangements just like staying in the joint family and there is this and thatx but Sukadeva Goswami is saying that this army we have gathered is useless. Don’t depend upon them!’

When Yamaraja comes, will the guards at the gate be able to stop him? Or when the dogs start barking, will that barking be able to stop the servants of Yamaraja? No! They will leave only when they have done what they have come to do. Once, this person was driving his car, very fast with a lot of speed and suddenly his phone started to ring. Actually, you are not supposed to answer the phone when you are driving the car.

Anyway he still answered the phone and the person on the other side was saying ’I would like to see you, I want to make an appointment to see you.’ That person driving then said ‘no no, I am busy at the moment. Not now, not now.’ Just as he said this, because he was already driving the car with a lot of speed, the car was about to fall the cliff.

Just as the car was about to go down the cliff the person on the other end of the phone said ‘this is Yamaraja speaking. The person who had initially requested the appointment had been Yamaraja but this person had said ‘no no, I don’t even have time to die! Next time, not now I’m busy.’ Busy doing what? I’m working, I have some work.’ Kaam, has two meanings- work in Hindi is kaam but the word also means lust.

So how does one perform his work, kaam? By becoming kaami, lusty. I am busy (kaam means lusty also) and this kaam (lust) is keeping me very busy.’

prakriteh kriyamanani gunaih karmani sarvashah?ahankara vimudhatma kartaham iti manyate
(BG 3.27)

Translation
All activities are carried out by the three modes of material nature. But in ignorance, the soul, deluded by false identification with the body, thinks of itself as the doer.

We keep saying ‘me me’ but the work is actually carried out by material nature. Gargacharya has said a very beautiful thing and actually everything he has said is beautiful. He is saying

ya etasmin maha bhagah
pritim kurvanti manavah?narayo ‘bhibhavanty etan?visnu paksan ivasurah
(SB 10.8.18)

Demons [asuras] cannot harm the demigods, who always have Lord Visnu on their side. Similarly, any person or group attached to Krsna is extremely fortunate. Because such persons are very much affectionate toward Krsna, they cannot be defeated by demons like the associates of Kamsa [or by the internal enemies, the senses].

Those who are very fortunate, who are they?

brahmanda bhramite kona bhagyavan jiva
guru krsna prasade paya bhakti lata bija
(CC Madhya 19.15)

Translation
According to their karma, all living entities are wandering throughout the entire universe.

Kona kona bhagyavan jiva means who is that fortunate living entity? He who guru krsna prasade paya bhakti lata bija. He is fortunate who gets the opportunity of devotional service theough the mercy and association of the spiritual master and Lord Krishna. Also what is the other eeason of their being fortunate? Previously it was said ‘pritim kurvanti.’

They are fortunate because of their love for the supreme lord. There is no love in the material world, over here it is just lust but here Gargacharya is saying that one must replace that lust with pure love. One must bring out that love, or awaken that love that he has dormant in his heart for Krishna. Krishna prema pradaya te, lord Chaitanya has come and has manifested himself in this world for what reason? To show, and to distribute Krishna prema.

namo maha vadanyaya
krsna prema pradaya te
krsnaya krsna caitanya
namne gaura tvise namah
(CC Madhya 19.53)

Translation
O most munificent incarnation! You are Krsna Himself appearing as Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu. You have assumed the golden color of Srimati Radharani, and You are widely distributing pure love of Krsna. We offer our respectful obeisances unto You.

We can replace this lust into love by chanting

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama
Rama Rama Hare Hare

What is this, this is Prema, pure love golokera prema dhana, hari nama sankirtana. By chanting and hearing this Sankirtan and the holy name, what will happen? You will be able to remember Vishnu and Krishna. Krishna Balaram ki jai. Gaura Nitai ki jai. Ahen we remember the lord, when we remembered Rama and Lakshman and when we call them by chanting Hare Krishna, what are we saying?

We are saying ‘He Krishna, He Rama!’ And we say Radharani before Krishna and in this way the whole sixteen names which consist the maha mantra, each of these names is an sambodhan. You understand this word? It is an address and we are addressing, we are calling out to ‘Hare’ which means ‘oh Radhe’ and Krishna meaning ‘oh Krishna.’ In this way we call out eight times to Radharani and eight times to Krishna and then to Rama.

This Rama is also Lord Krishna, the next Hare Rama Hare Rama is speaking about Rama or Krishna as Rama. So pritim kurvanti means those who love the lord, that is a wonderful thing. And those who do this, love the lord unconditionally, narayo. Ari means enemy and there are many words like this. Narayo ’bhibhavanty etan, no enemy in this material world, including the greatest six enemies lust, anger greed and so on.

Pakistan are not our enemy and Ukraine’s enemy is not Russia, Russia’s enemy is not Ukraine. The real enemies are this lust, anger and greed. This greed, this greed keeps us so busy, there is never solution to the problems in life, there is never any solution. In English they speak of their needs and Mahatma Gandhi also used to speak of the needs of the living entity.

This means the least minimum we need to survive, this is called one’s needs and this is fine, to have our basic needs is our right. But when in the place of our needs, we put our greed, then there can be no solution to the problems created due to this mentality. He will be dead and gone in that condition of greediness. That is why the six enemies are very dangerous and so Gargacharya is emphasising that we must love Krishna and Balaram.

This is the same thing which Srila Prabhupada is saying, ‘love Krishna Balaram, love Gaura Nitai!’ Then no enemy will be able to harass us and we will be saved from our enemies which means we will certainly be saved from death. If we are saved from death then we wont have to have another birth by attaining the supreme lord. So we pray.. yes there is that as well

namo deva damodarananta visno
prasida prabho duhkha jalabdhi magnam krpa drsti vrstyati dinam batanu grhanesa mam ajnam edhy aksi-drsyah

(Damodarastakam 6)

Translation
O Supreme Godhead, I offer my obeisances unto You. O Damodara! O Ananta! O Vishnu! O master! O my Lord, be pleased upon me. By showering Your glance of mercy upon me, deliver this poor ignorant fool who is immersed in an ocean of worldly sorrows, and become visible to my eyes.

We are singing this everyday in the month of Kartik and here jalabdi magnam means drowning in an ocean of sorrow. We are singing this and we remain happy although we are drowning in this ocean in this material world. We are drowning and dying and dying and then drowning and on and on. That is why what should we do?

O Damodara! O Ananta! O Vishnu! O master! O my Lord, prasida – be pleased upon me and be merciful to me.

Krpa drsti vrstyati dinam batanu grhanesa mam ajnam edhy aksi drsyah. Oh Lord Damodara, please shower me with your merciful glance. Jai Damodara! So continue your devotional activities in this month of Kartik, wherever you may be. You can spend the whole month of Kartik In Vrindavan, that is the best. Who out of all of you are going to spend the whole month of Kartik in Vrindavan?

Very good. You must be intelligent because only foolish and dull people do not come to Vrindavan. The devotees of Krishna may be busy so that is different but they are certainly intelligent. So continue in this way and may the lord give us all, including myself some intelligence. In this way we, the drivers may go inwards in our journey. Life is a journey actually, as they say and there are other things too like the body being the chariot and the horses.

The soul is the passenger and what is the intelligence? Yes, the driver of the chariot is the intelligence. So on this journey, who has got the most important role to play? It is the driver or the pilot. Sometimes the passengers may go to sleep, and this is fine, but if the driver was to go to sleep during the journey then finished. So we must remain alert at all times and take help of the intelligence.

So that’s why we pray that the lord give us all the proper intelligence and just like he has given the promise

bhajatam priti purvakam
dadami buddhi yogam tam
yena mam upayanti te
(BG 10.10)

TRANSLATION
To those who are constantly devoted and worship Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.

So who is being referred to as ‘aham?’ Krishna himself is saying ‘aham, me myself. I will give the understanding and intelligence. And then after I give the right intelligence, how must this intelligence be used? For what purpose? Yena mam upayanti te, that person who I give intelligence to should use that tight intelligence to come to me.

To reach the place where I am, one must his his intelligence given by me, mam upayanti, yanti means to go. So
I live in this place, goloka eva nivasaty akhilatma bhuto, you may then come back there.

ananda cinmaya rasa pratibhavitabhis
tabhir ya eva nija rupataya kalabhi?
goloka eva nivasaty akhilatma bhuto
govindam adi purusam tam aham bhajami
(Sri brahma samhita 5.37)

Translation
I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, residing in His own realm, Goloka, with Radha, resembling His own spiritual figure, the embodiment of the ecstatic potency possessed of the sixty-four artistic activities, in the company of Her confidantes [sakhis], embodiments of the extensions of Her bodily form, permeated and vitalized by His ever blissful spiritual rasa.

So the lord also has a desire and goal to bring us back to his abode. We have already reached his dham, Vrindavan dham ki jai! The lord has bought the pastimes of Goloka here to Gokula so there is no difference. So here we can experience that we have returned back to the lords abode, back to godhead and if we can become a part of these pastimes then that is the best.

ISKCON Chowpatty

Topic : SB 01.11.29
Place: Iskcon chowpatty
Date :18 June 2022

Class in English in Hindi, What English hindi, English hindi, hindi English. Now who is gone decide, who is judge here. Ya what do you say, English, okk, oh somebody is translating, where is that translator, rest all arranged.

okay so I am grateful for the opportunity ,given to be with you and share this morning’s Srimad Bhagwatam Katha. Which is from canto 1, Chapter 11 text 29 so please repeat.
tah putram ankam aropya
sneha-snuta-payodharah
harsa-vihvalitatmanah
sisicur netrajair jalaih
(SB 01.11.29)

tah – all of them; putram – the son; ankam – the lap; aropya – having placed on; sneha-snuta – moistened by affection; payodharah – breasts filled up; harsa – delight; vihvalita –atmanah – overwhelmed by; sisicuh – wet; netrajaih – from the eyes; jalaih – water.

Translation and purport by Srila Prabhupad,
Srila Prabhupad ki Jai.

Translation: The mothers, after embracing their son, sat him on their laps. Due to pure affection, milk sprang from their breasts. They were overwhelmed with delight, and the tears from their eyes wetted the Lord.

Purport: When Lord Krishna was at Vrindavan even the cows would become moistened by affection towards him, and he would draw milk from the nipples of every affectionate living being, So what to speak of stepmothers who were already as good as his own mother.

End of the purport , okay before I talk about the verse, I just wanted to, I may not get verse into to say this later on, but maharaj has just arrived here yesterday. I saw Vidya, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan and I kind of sort long plans over Giri Gaon, Chowpatty and that reminded me how could I forget my connection with these two places and then eventually my connection with…
Radha Gopinath Mandir ki Jai……..

So that was 1971, you know the famous Cross Maidan Festival, So there was great grand finale of that festival, the 4th April 1971 and there was a grand procession, it was the part of grand finale and procession terminated/concluded at Giri Gaon, Chowpatty and I had been attending this festival every single day at Cross Maidan along with
Radhanath Swami Maharaj ki Jai………….

He wasn’t swami and I was nobody also. So I don’t know whether he was in that procession but I was very much there. Procession was presided over by the deities not Radha Rasbihari, another set of deity, they were sent to Sydney, not sent but Prabhupad personally took them in the flight, go to Sydney after Hare Krishna Festival here. Anyway so they were presiding, Prabhupad also was riding in one of the Horse drawn chariot and there were some other floats as the part of the procession and that concluded here at Giri Gaon, Chowpatty and one of the thing I remember Prabhupad said, Prabhupad was talking about Vaikunth Dham and going Back to Godhead, which kind of stuck, normally we don’t hear about Vaikunth, who talks about Golok or Vrindavan. Prabhupad, this was on his mind, this going back to home and he was inviting audience to, let’s go, let’s go back, let’s go back. I was fortunate to be part of that grand finale procession which terminated at Giri Gaon, Chowpatty and I didn’t know that very soon in the future I will be here, Vaikunth would be established.

Radha Gopinath Mandir Ki Jai…

Ya which is Vaikunth, which is Golok. So Prabhupad was talking about Vaikunth, Golok Vrindavan and here it goes, manifested here in the mid’s of Giri Gaon here, next to Chowpatty and in fact Srila Prabhupad predicted , the Radha Gopinath Mandir. So there was another time, that was 1973, Bharti Vidhya Bhawan. This is of course, you know “Bombay is my Office” book, where we have presented history of Hare Krishna Land and Prabhupad at his office, So on October 18, 1973, Prabhupad was at Bharti Vidya Bhawan and I also was very much there, with Srila Prabhupad, along with Jaya Pataka Swami, Sridhar, Shyam Sundar, Shrutkirti and few others and of course that function was presided over by Sriman Nand Ji, Nanda this generation may or may not know what he was, one or two times, briefly he was Prime Minister of India and he was also trustee of the Kurukshetra Development Board, he had invited Prabhupad also to come to Kurukshetra and take a piece of land for your project at Kurukshetra that had happened in 1975. Prabhupad did go and met Guljari Lal Nanda there, but here Gurjari Nanda was presiding over the function and revival of India’s culture that was the theme of the event and Prabhupad addressed the gathering, I am not gone read you the whole, ya the whole text is available , transcribed Prabhupad’s take and I have quoted that in here, but the main point is “Shayam Sundar” reacalled. At the end of that function, as we came out and we were on the steps of Bharti Vidya Bhavan after lecture Prabhupad stood on the step of Bharti Vidya Bhawan and pointed out, pointed down the street and said, “we should have a temple here.”

Haribol
And here we go, there he talked about Vaikunth or Vrindavan, in Chowpatty and here he talked, we should have temple here and here it is
Radha Gopinath ki Jai……..

So that’s my connection also with Radha Gopinath and very much on. Vaikunth was on the mind of Srila Prabhupad and he predicted that the Vaikunth would be established right here and we are sitting in Vaikunth and Vrindavan here. Haribol and then we are suppose to be talking about this past time. Lord Krishna entrance into Dwarka and he has of course already entered, just now coming back from Kurukshetra, this is the 2nd time he had gone to Kurukshetra, Lord Krishna, we are talking about Dwarkadish.
Dwarkadesh ki Jai………..

So first time, he had gone, he brought all the residents of Dwarka with him, that’s was time of Surya Grahan (Sun Eclipse) and Lord Krishna and the family, they went to take the holy dip at Surya Kund in Kurukshetra and during that meeting, there is a great meeting between residents of Dwarka meeting with residents of Vrindavan Dham.
Vrindavan Dham Ki Jai……….

There was a great meeting, you know, Krishna left Mathura and this past time expends and we don’t know, where we are beginning , we are going all over. So the Krishna left Mathura, he left Vrindavan from Mathura and he said to gopis, just now coming, and the first mission in Mathura, killing of Kamsa happened and soon after the filling of Kamsa, that Kamsa killer happened, that wasn’t the first meeting, there is a talk of Krishna meeting real mother and step mother’s, very first meeting of course have taken place in Kamsa prison house, “Vasudev Akshata” and Vasudev saw his child, Krishna, Devaki didn’t see “Gopala Gopala Devaki Nandan Gopala”, so this Devaki Nandan, so Vasudev saw, you understand she is, mother is not the first one to see the child, so Vasudev saw and later on, Devaki alos had darshan, they both offered prayers and quickly in and out, Krishna was in there in the prison house, he appeared, he was out, goes to Vrindavan.

Gokul Dham ki Jai…….. and then he stays there for three years and 8 months and then he comes to Vrindavan and he spends another 3 years and 8 months at ShaktaVrat and then finally goes to Nand Gram spends another 3 years and 8 months, these calculations are as per Srila Vishvanath Chakroborty Thakur. So like this Krishna is in Vrindavan for 11 years and that is when Akrura is sent, okay go and get these children, I want to kill them and Akrura had gone and he brings Krishna and Balaram to Mathura and before Kamsa could attempt to kill Krishna and Balaram, Krishna Balaram killed Kamsa and then Kamsa’s brother’s were killed by Balaram and Kamsa was killed by Krishna and then another meeting is taking place between Devaki and Vasudev, Devaki and Krishna, Balaram and what is talked here is, in yesterday’s verse.

vavande sirasa sapta
devaki-pramukha muda
(SB 1.11.28)

Krishna and Balaram, as now they have arrived here in Dwarka, but only Krishna has arrived, Balaram is on a tour of, all India Tour, he had not taken part in the battle of Kurushetra, only Krisnha took part and after spending some time in Hastinapur now he is returning by himself to Dwarka and he is, he received grand reception, he has blown his conch shell and giving signal to all the residents of Dwarka that I am here, I am here, Krishna aa rahe hai and Krishna is here and everybody is coming running, greeting and meeting and praising and prayers and all that has happened and finally Krishna is entering the palace, or palaces, soon he will be entering in the palaces also but he has entered the palace where the queens of Vasudev, which are mothers, one of them is the real mother and others are mentioned as step mothers and what did Krishna do vavande sirasa(SB 1.11.28). Krishna bows down, bows down, bow down mister, its bowing down at the lotus feet of his mothers. Now back to Mathura, Kamsa has been killed, parents have been released and both Krishna and Balaram they rush to their parents

mataram pitaram caiva
mocayitvatha bandhanat
(SB 10.44.51)

So they both have of course released their parents, Kamsa such a cruel person, in the audience he had also there were Devaki and Vasudev seated and His idea(kamsa) idea was I would like this Vasudev and Devaki to see the scene, what scene, as I , the Kamsa killed their children, I am gone be killing Krishna and Balaram and let Vasudev and Devaki see this scene. With this intention Vasudev and Devaki were seated, they were given seat in the audience. So of course after Krishna killed Kamsa and Balaram killed his, Kamsa’s eight brothers. Krishna and Balaram they rush to Vasudev and Devaki and untied their all the schakles and ropes and so that is what it says. This is going back to chapter 45 of tenth canto, so they were released, parents were released

krsna-ramau vavandate
sirasa sprsya padayoh
(SB 10.44.51)

I wanted to point that out to you, so they always do this, they always do this, they are doing that here right now in Dwarka as Krishna has returned from Kurukshetra, but there in Mathura also “vavandate sirasa sprsya padayoh” and both of them have touch the feet of Vasudev and Devaki. Monhita Vank arogya, here in Dwarka, we are going back in between Dwarka and Mathura, you don’t get confused. So tah putram a?kam aropya, tah refers to , they are plural, not just one mother then it would have been just tah, but it is tah, it’s a plural, not single, so many mothers and those are the step mothers, Vasudev had fourteen wives, ya don’t know anybody knows, fourteen ya, eighteen, okay there you go, so eighteen wives, so they also have been made a reference to many wives Vasudev, at the very beginning of tenth Canto, Chapter 2

rohini vasudevasya
bharyaste nanda-gokule
anyas ca kamsa-samvigna
vivaresu vasanti hi
(SB 10.2.7)

rohini vasudevasya bharyaste, how does that sound and does that make sense, you understand this, it is very simple, plain statement, in Sanskrit of course, the refine or most refined language, mother of all the languages. It is also sweet and saral and saras, easy and sweet. So that says, rohini vasudevasya bharyaste Rohini was bharya, wife of Vasudev, where that time, Vasudev and Devaki were in the prison house of Kamsa, Rohini was in Nanda-gokule, anyas ca kamsa-samvigna

anya, one mentioned here one wife Rohini was in Gokul, under the care of Nand Maharaj, there were troubling times for all these wives, Vasudev had kind of dispatched them and they were hidden or they were in the caves or they are under the shelter of different personalities. Rohini was in Gokul and Nand Maharaj was taking care of Rohini in Gokul. Anyah, but there were anyah many others, how many others 17 others were kamsa samvigna because of the trouble, the harassment, or to avoid the harassment of the Kamsa vivaresu they were hidden, they were for safe keeping, safe keeping, they were placed in different places all over Vraj. Ya back there , so the after killing of Kamsa, we are still there , so Krishna and Balaram approched Vasudev Devaki and there right there , devaki took Krishna and Balaram, her both sons, Balaram is the seventh one and the Krishna is the eighth one, they are both children of Vasudev and Devaki, and of course, Yashoda also had given birth to one son, that’s another story, in Gokul and then Krishna from Mathura, Vasudev Nandan, he merges with Yashoda Nandan or Nand Nandan, and two Krishna’s become one but there are two Krishna’s. One is Vasudev’s Krishna om namo bhagavate vasudevaya why is Krishna’s one name Vasudev, why is vasudev because, son of Vasudev, is Vasudev, him be the son of Vasudev, he is called vasudev, according to tat dith prathyas of Vyakaran, grammer. Vasudev, Son of Kunti becomes Kaunteya, Son of Ganga became gangegya, like that names is the hint of who is the father, who is the parents. So Vasudev son is Vasuudev and father is vasudev, so om namo Bhagavate vasudevaya. I offer my obeisances unto Vasudev but then there are , how many vasudeva’s are there, at least we know, they are two, not only Krishna is Vasudev, Balaram is also, yes or no, Balaram is also Vasudev. They are both sons of Vasudev, both Devaki Nandan’s.

Krishna Balaram ki Jai….

So right there, in that big arena where that wrestling match had happen and Kamsa killed, Devaki took Krishna and Balaram a?kam aropya took them right in her lap, Krishna and Balaram, this is not in Dwarka, I am talking of Mathura, parisrajya, and embraced Krishna and Balaram, Hari Hari, you are with us. Haribol, you are undergoing meditation. Some of you are, I am here and not only that we are still in Mathura. We are just making, comparing, not comparing , just pointing out what happened in Dwarka, when Krishna entered Dwarka and entered the palaces and the mothers’ , Krishna and Balaram has offer their greetings by touching mother’s feet, many mother’s and then those mother’s have taken Krishna and Balaram ankam, place them on their laps and more things have also happened, so these things are also similar things happened in Mathura also.

So same Krishna and Balaram, same Devaki and other mother’s, so these dealings are eternal, still in Mathura okay

sincantav asru-dharabhih
sneha-pasena cavrtau
(SB 10.45.11)

And as Devaki has Krishna and Balaram, placed on her lap, what is happening next, she is into tears and doing abhishek of Krishna and Balaram, bathing Krishna and Balaram with her tears, gliding down the cheeks, may be not just gliding, but they are pouring for abhishek, extra water, so not dripping but and that’s the kind of mother she is. She could be torrents of rain like tears coming from eyes of Devaki here.
na kincid ucatu rajan
baspa-kanthau vimohitau
(SB 10.45.11)

And then Devaki wants to say something, she has so much to say but she is excited and ecstatic, as a result preme gada gada , as Narad Muni and Shukdev Goswami siva-suka-narada preme gada-gada, preme gada gada, they are in the middle of the aarti, where they were struggling to say, utter because there voice is getting chocked up, our voice are chocked up with this cough, then we have trouble saying speaking, singing but so vashp Kantho, he says vashp Kantho. Kantha Chocked up and she is not able to utter, or say all that she wanted to say. So that happen in , well we should say this, this happens all the time. We wish there a diary here of Krishna’s daily pastimes, that’s not the case, we just get a sampling, once upon a time this happened or one morning this happened, as Krishna arrived Balaram is not there, then the meeting took place between Krishna and mother’s now and then what happened, we have just information, knowledge of such samples, some hints are given but we have to understand, we could say so, Shukdev Swami could have given, and that’s why it is also said, okay this job of AnantSesh could, anantsesh could be describing right, anantsesh is chanting the glories of the Lord, I am sure day one this happened and then he goes to the day two, and another day, another day and another month and another year and year after year and , How many years does krishna, his life and teaching, How long is his life, how long does Lord live, how long, 125 and then he dies, yes finished. Is he eternal or not. I heard he is suppose to be eternal, he ever exist bhutva bhutva Praliyate, that refers to us bhutva bhutva, by becoming and by becoming, coming into being, praliyate, and one who take birth must die, but Lord does not take birth, Hence he is called ?????, he is ajanma, never takes birth, so he never dies, Hari Hari.

Brahma takes birth, Brahma dies, after one hundred years and what happened, Maha vishnu just, what did he do he just took one breath, Maha vishnu just took one breath what did he do he just there have a breath, it is shavas, ushavas, breathing out and breathing in, okay you did both breathing out, out ,out, all Brahmanda’s are created and Brahma is born in each brahmanda, and that’s why Lord is also known as Anant Koti Brahmand Nayak, you hear that anant koti brahmand nayak. How many Koti Anant Koti, Koti is a big number, oh my god koti, one crore, brahmanda’s know, how many koti anant, anant koti, there are unlimited Koti’s , this is Kotyah. All those is created and Brahma is born, those many brahma’s and then they all live for one hundred years. Are you with us, Hare Krishna. And then as Maha Vishnu does, breathing in, all Brahmanda’s bhutva, they have become bhutva, just half the breath, ushavas, exhalation, all brahmanda’s are created. Bhutva bhutve praliyate, the destruction begins and they all enter into Maha Vishnu again and this is just one breath, we are just talking how long does Lord live, this is just one breath, this is one breath. Hari Hari,

If anybody could talk glories of the Lord, that Anantsesh manage that, there are so many aspect right now we are talking about this, talking about that, just few topics we are trying to say something, something and we are just jumping also, just half baked, we are saying something and then we are running to another one and to another one, going between Mathura and Dwarka and Kurukshetra, but you if you really want to talk, of course you can’t talk I can’t talk, Anantsesh could manage talking, okay daily pastimes, even Krishna Das Kaviraj Goswami, while talking, several times he says this but as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was touring Vrindavan and then he had written , describes the tour of, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s tour of Vrindavan, but then he says sorry folks, this is how much I could manage to write, the emotions of Gauranga and every moment and his ecstasies and him getting overwhelmed at every step, if this is all to be described, first of all I am not competent says Koti Koti, that’s koti grantha’s, millions of scriptures, just to write about Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s tour of Vrindavan, or even one day’s tour or even one moment’s to describe, I can’t, anantsesh could do this. So in Anantsesh, we are talking about something else now, not today’s verse topic, I think, just see we could go back there or what happens. Anantsesh, how many hoods he has , thousands, he is called shastra Vadan and he is also, he holds different planet on his hoods. So when this job was given to him, holding planets, he asked, how long do I have to keep carrying loads of different planets and he was told not for very long. Okay Okay you could do one more thing, you could also chant the glories of the Lord, when you finish chanting all the glories of the Lord and you think there is no more, nothing more to be said, then you could throw of this planets, you don’t have to carry them. So when this job was given Anantsesh said okay, okay, I will be faster, I have thousand mouths and what happens also, it is additional information, at each of the mouth of Anantsesh, there is a large audience and at another mouth(vadan) of Anantsesh, there is another larger audience and each mouth he talks of different pastimes, not like the Doordarshan or All India Radio, same thing in every home, he hears the same thing, right, also there are many speakers (Ahuja Speaker) they will say the same thing but that is not the case with Anantsesh, each mouth, with each mouth he is talking different, different pastimes.

So he started with great enthusiasm of course his enthusiasm never diminishes, but he was thinking soon I would be done with this recitation of all the and it is not the pastime, it is the naam,

sri radhika madhavayor apara
madhurya lila guna rupa namnam
prati ksanasvadana lolupasya

So, we will talk about naam, and then how many names are there, Vishnu Shastranaam and Bahuni Rupani Namani santi, Garga muni had said your son has so many names and forms and of course each one has quality and pastimes. So Anantsesh started and he started and he is talking, he talked, and talked and talked and talked and talked and to this day he is talking, how long he will keep talking, forever. You could also say as shastra vadan, may be, he kind of finished talk of some pastime, but another pastime he is, sambhavami yuge yuge , he is appearing all the time, okay he is appearing in this Brahmanda, that Brahmanda, that brahmanda, that brahmanda, pastime of this Brahmanda, pastime of that Brahmanda hari hari. Wonderful Krishna, what kind of Krishna is wonderful Krishna, wonderful Krishna. The residents of Vrindavan even they say, what type of Krishna is Wonderful Krishna, they all are amazed and there is the talk of the town. Okay.

So the pastimes of course, pastimes are repeated with different flavours, and different circumstances, different time, place, circumstances and then pastimes becomes brand new pastimes, so we are pointing out just we are reading here. What happened in Dwarka oh that also had happen in Mathura but because we don’t have information, more information, maybe I don’t have enough information or I exhausted these resources but there are quite few out there to be talked about. Hari Hari and as I talk about this, I also thinking of Krishna is suppose to be, he was in Kurukshetra

dharma ksetre kuru-ksetre
samaveta yuyutsavah
mamakah pandavas caive
kim akurvata sanjaya
(BG 1.1)

How old is Krishna, of course this verse doesn’t say about the age, I just quoted the verse, and I am asking the question, How old? He is hundred years, that what we hear, he is hundred years old. So this hundred old Krishna has come back to Dwarka and hundred year old son is placed in the Lap, that is not our experience, this does not happen because they doesn’t survive for hundred years and if they did or your mother may not be around and if she is there, she won’t be she will be just lying down in the bed or something , she is not gone to be sitting up and she is not going be bear the load of hundred year old son, brothers and sisters. So this calculation, estimations and understanding of this world does not apply to Krishna, Dwarka and the parents and mothers here. This is another world , it is another world, of course so much affection, so much affection. Mothers here they are ending up killing their children right in the womb, not even letting them take birth. Is that the affection, abortion , so this too much. We have experienced these kinds of mothers, what to say? I think just yesterday, yesterday purport, seven mother, seven mothers Prabhupad is pointing seven mothers. Your mother who has given you the birth is your mother, the cow is also mother, cow is one of the seven mother’s, just see what kind of, the mothers also could be and they are at the receiving end what type of treatment mothers get, they are discarded or in the west, older parents are just stored in, some old age home and they hire someone to take care of them, give them medicine or let us know whether they are alive or dead, call us when they are no more, children are, this is , just look at Krishna Balaram and look at the mother’s here in the spiritual sky, jai ho.

Radha Gopinath ki Jai….

And take a look around and see what’s happening, big confronted, two versions, How children are treating their parents and how parents and mothers are killing their children right in the womb that’s one thing and then turning to the cow, which is also another mother of whole human race, their mother is mother cow. Gomata ki Jai…

How could we say gomata ki jai on one hand and then kill her, of course those who kill her, I am sure they won’t say Gomata ki jai.., kill her, kill her that’s what they must be saying, oh the cows in India while being slaughtered , they are put through lots of pain and just distracted all right, 20 years ago there was a discussion in the India’s Parliament, Indian Parliament was the slaughter house is in India and what is happening to the animals or the cows, which are being slaughtered oh the weapons or razors used they are blunt, they are old fashioned, so that’s why the animals are suffering while they are slaughtered, killed. So what to do, this was being discussed in the India’s Parliament and do you know I don’t want to say spent much time with this and the after discussion back and forth resolution was India should modernise their slaughters houses. We should import modern equipments razors from Ireland where they have sharp blades, so that the cows while being slaughtered, they will suffer less what a kind what a kind parliamentarians are, they kindly resolve this they should have could have should have but they did not do so, they could have resolved that’s let’s close the slaughter houses instead not let us modernise our slaughter houses. So, anyway this is the kind of treatment this world is giving to the mothers and for killing babies, the scientists and everyone is they have equipment also for easy and we kept private and secret, I remember long time while we stood go for our life membership preaching in local trains of Bombay there were even ads in compartments, only 70 rupees, well of course those days 70 rupees was a lot of money, but the killing baby in the womb, the abortion the cost was only 70 rupees and they are promoting, government is promoting this Hari hari, I think enough is enough, enough is enough right. So our two worlds apart, two extremes urdhva-mulam adhah-sakham (BG 15.1) so love there, is what, what here lust here love there is lust here, I love you this, this mantra which ended but actually they should be saying I am lusty after you not that I love you, I am lusty after you.

Okay so Krishna is supposed to be hundred years old then he is adyam purana purusam nava yauvanam ca I think just yesterday we were talking Krishna save the residents or his cowherds friends from the forest fire and he had asked his friends. nimilayata locananity friends close your eyes, but you are not closing what does that mean that you are not the friends of Krishna, Hari Hari I am just wandering, what I am suppose to be doing. So anyway so they close their eyes and Krishna ma bhaista don’t fear, come here oh dear I am here and as they close their eyes ma sucha , ma sucha don’t fear, right don’t fear and as they all close their eyes , what did Krishna do, swallow, swallowed the fire and did that fire burn Krishna. No , so yesterday we were saying they didn’t even burn the beard of Krishna, mucha, moustache of Krishna, they are not burnt then you would say hey what is the question of beard getting burnt, krishna has no beard, but then why does he don’t have a beard , he is suppose to be hundred years old moustache of Krishna reason being adyam purana purusam but nava yauvanam ca he never goes beyond age sixteen at the most, so by some estimation he is hundred years old but he is sixteen years old at the max. But he could be kumara for all the time, all the pastimes are eternal, all the pastime are eternal, Krishna being kumara and then puganda and then kumar and then kishore, he goes through different ages, stages ,phases in his life but when he grows Kishore, he doesn’t sees to be kumara, he continues to be Kumara, he continues to be Pauganda, he is continues to be like that, he is eternally, or he is eternally taking birth, just now taking birth right, so he is eternally taking birth, means he is one day old eternally, or he is one year old eternally, he is sixteen years old eternally and he is so called hundred years so called hundred years eternally, so we should not be wandering how could , hundred year old and next what it going to happen he is going to fed by these mothers and Devaki will feed and that’s happening right. sisicur oh thats netrajair jalaih, sisicur netrajair jalaih okay I got it I was so netraja netra means eyes, netraja what is netraja, netraja means something that gives, the eyes giving birth to netraja, what are the eyes giving birth to, tears jal, netrajair jalaih, jalaih, where is that jal coming from, netra, eyes, netraja.

So earlier sneha-snuta-payodharah right there, it is the milk, so much affection, this is the indication how much affection instead of describing affection this way that way, just stop tears is a, what is happening into the breast milk, as it happen, this is called Vatsalya also, right this is the Vatsalya rasa here. Vatsalya Rasa, parenthood, like a cow has affection for the calf, Vatsalya, full of Vatsalya, so same kind of Vatsalya, some mothers are like a cows, mothers are like a cows and Krishna is like a calf. So what happens, so Prabhupad is pointing out, yesterday or today also that He would draw milk from the nipples of every affectionate living being. So it is not just mother’s loving Krishna everybody, everybody, everybody loves Krishna, if you don’t love get out of here, go to Bombay that’s what has happened to us, right, something happened, we are out of there. Hari Hari. So everyone loves Krishna and Krishna loves, what would you say, everybody loves Krishna and Krishna loves everybody, me too. Does he love you, yes/no, you doubt or not sure, he loves you, he loves you, children may at some point in their life may stop loving their parents but does do the parents ever stop loving their children, What would you say? Never, ever generally speaking. So , Krishna is that mother, what means child, of course the mother has hum do hamare do, we two and we have two such mothers could not be addressed as le kur wadi, or le kur wada, at least there has to be then you are , full of lekur, full of children’s. Pandurag Vitthal Krishna he is, if anybody could be called lakur wada, or lekur wadi, that is the Lord, because how many children does he have, how many children, you could say unlimited, but you could also say every child is his child, everybody, everybody is his child, and father and he is also mother, he is all in all, he loves us and we had stopped, we had stopped loving him because we are lusty after so many items in this world. So by seeing this all love and affection as we are , wherever, wherever you take a look at in the scriptures, you will find adav ante ca madhye ca harih sarvatra giyate Lord is glorified, and Lord devotees are glorified and Lord’s, and devotee’s loving dealing are glorified. So let us take note once and for all, once again and revive our love for the Lord. He said to Arjuna also, priye asi

man-mana bhava mad-bhakto
mad-yaji mam namaskuru
mam evaisyasi satyam te
pratijane priyo ’si me
(BG 18.65)

Priyo’si, at the end of conversation, Samwad, Krishna said priyo’si , Arjun you are very dear, but Lord really meant is you all, you all living entities because the message of Krishna, Bhagwat Gita is not really for Arjun, it is for us. Krishna is addressing all of us and during that addressing while addressing us he said priyo’si, you are very dear to me and he expresses his love for us by doing, not just lip service, he does so much for us, so much for us. Hari Hari.

For us he comes down to this earth, Golokam cha paritajya, lokanam tramkaranat, Golokam cha paritajya meaning what by giving up Golok, leaving Golok behind, Lord enters this world because paritranaya sadhunam, Golokam cha paritajya, lokanam tramkaranat, to give us relief and revive our love for him hari hari when he comes as Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu,
Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu ki Jai. …
This was the very last time, Lord Bhagwan came appeared, and to reclaim us , the living entities, he inaugurated this Sankirtan Movement, he became

ajanu-lambita-bhujau kanakavadatau
sankirtanaika-pitarau kamalayataksau
visvambharau dvija-varau yuga-dharma-palau
vande jagat priya-karau karunavatarau

So, he inaugurated, him and Nityanand prabhu, because this prayer of Chaitanya Bhagwat, very first statement of Chaitanya Bhagwat, is a prayer refers to two of them, both sankirtanaika pitarau means two, ramo means two, ramo means how many rams, two. Pitarau, two of them, Gauranga, Gauranga Nityanand, Gaur Nityanand ki Jai.

This way you can go on talking and talking and never comes to an end, as I was worshipping this morning, Mangala Aarti, Radha Gopinath, they were in their own world, but Krishna and Gauranga and Nityanand Prabhu, they were looking right at me, right in my eyes and I am sure, others have also noticed this, I am not the only one. So Lord appeared and he glanced upon the fallen souls and sri-krishna-caitanya prabhu doya koro more
toma bina ke doyalu jagat-samsare

(2)
patita-pavana-hetu tava avatara
mo sama patita prabhu na paibe ara

Of course these are Narottam Das thakur’s word’s and realizations, we also sing, but didn’t sing like Narottam Das Thakur sang or we may also be singing, sound vibration is there but Hari Hari, same arth or same depth is not there. Mo sama patita prabhu, whether we would admit, honesty is the best policy, whether we would be admitting I am fallen na , Hari Hari

So Lord did his part and then Srila Prabhupad ki Jai., , Srila Prabhupad continued, we have two founders of this hare Krishna movement, first two is Gaur and Nityanand, that’s the team, the two together one, that’s one and then Srila Prabhupad become another founder, in the formal way doing registration of this International Society for Krishna Consciousness in New York in 1966. He founded but the original founder is Lord Gaur and Lord Nityanand, Lord Gaur Nityanand are the founders of this movement and then Srila Prabhupad did another kind of foundation, what kind of foundation he need in this world, formalise institution and then Prabhupad did so much, so much for us. I was just , so like this we could go till evening, I was just there on Nirjala Ekadashi, I was in Kolkota and I was at, I celebrated my Nirjala ekadashi at one ulta danga junction road, which has been acquired by ISKCON and renovated and now a wonderful Monumental. So I celebrated by ekadashi there and I was remembering Srila Bhakti Siddhant Saraswati Thakur, he is also founder, difficult to say, where it has all began, we could also say Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur or Srila Bhakti Siddhant Saraswati Thakur also and Srila Bhakti Vedanta Swami Srila Prabhupad Thakur, this is another team, another team, we have teams, Sad Goswami team, six goswami’s and then come tra Acharya, three acharya’s Shyamanad, Srinivas Acharya and Narottom Das Thakur, Acharya tra, the second generation and then the later down the road, end of the times there was Baldev Vidya Bhushan and Vishwanath Chakrobarty Thakur together, the six together, three together, those two together and then more recent times three together. They are responsible for eventually Iskcon’s foundation happened with conception and whatever different things.
