Today we are getting Our Master Our Natha

Venue: Chamorshi
Dated: 15 June 2015

Lord Krsna’s one name is Jagannath, why Jagannath because He is swami of jaggat, He is our Natha- swami, also He is our master our malik. Today we are getting our master our Nath here. Are you happy you got your master?? We were anatha without natha, now we have become sanath, anath se sanath, This world is also big orphanage. But today we have got our master and we have become sanath.

Jai Jai Jagannath saciranandan …(Guru Maharaj singing ) Lord Jagannath is worshiped in the three worlds. In jagannath puri He carried sankha cakra and in Nadia He took sanyasa and He holds a danda and kamandalu.. Jai Jagannath… In treta Yuga as Lord Rama he killed Ravan “paritranaya sadhunam vinashaya cha dushkritam” (BG 4.8)

In dwapara yuga He manifested pastimes of Golok, “golokera vibhava lila prakasa karila”. Then comes Kali yuga, Lord accepted bhava of Radharani and came as Caitanya Chandra and He preached the chanting of the holy name of Lord.

Lord is all merciful.. dinabandhu, so today Lord has come here, we always hear Lord is there!! Lord is there!! But today we saw Lord and Lord saw us. And it’s our great fortune we are all present here, it’s all Lord’s arrangement. Lord Jagannath resides in Nilacala but today He has manifested here. At this time the Jagannath temple in Puri is closed after snana yatra. Lord Jagannath has fever; doctor says you need bed rest and special diet, so since that day Lord is taking rest. This year there is special festival on occasion of Navakalevaram. On snana yatra day this year was the last darshan of Jagannath after that He will be not well then He will be resting. Devotees will be hankering for darshan of the Lord.

Krishna’s pastimes are so beautiful that one who hears his heart becomes purified of all anarthas. When Lord was born everybody said “nanda ke ghar anandabhayo..” So Lord is anada He attracts us by His beauty, His love and gives us Ananda.

So when there is Netrotsava at Puri Jagannath Temple people go to take darshan of Lord and then there is ratha yatra. This year new deities will be installed in Puri and many people will go for ratha yatra to take darshan of Lord Jagannath in new form. Lord loves His devotees, He said to Arjuna in Gita “priyo ‘si me “.

Every 60 to 70 years our mother father changes, villages changes, Language changes, that all happens to the body. And we are souls, say we are souls!! Lord loves us. That’s why He comes again and again “sambhavami yuge yuge” and tell us to say Hare Krsna.

By taking darshan; by reading gita that’s satsanga so that all souls get connected to the Lord. Some people say hye!! We are poor! You are not poor, your father is rich He is Jagannath and our father says let’s go to vaikuntha. Without Rama there is no aram. So let’s go towards Lord, let’s go to temple and learn more about Lord. People say -there is poverty! We want job! We want money! But devotees say we have only Krsna Bhagvan for you. Best welfare activity is connecting everybody to Lord. Till the time we have this body we will have “janma mrutyu jara vyadhi” everybody dies, do you think rich people don’t die? Or rich people don’t get disease?? In fact they get more diseases. This life is like “kamal dala jala Jivan dalamal” In Nepal there was earthquake 10,000 people died. In Andhra Pradesh so much heat was there the farmers went to work in farm and never came back they all died due to heat –“adhidaivik klesha”.

People are killing each other, all bad news allover so we should think of moving forwards go towards Lord. Good days will come politicians say; what good days death is going to come one day. So let’s serve Lord and be happy. Prabhupada went to west and people there had lot of money but no happiness then they started chanting and became happy. Many are now becoming Hare Krsna people, what are we called? we are Hare Krishna people.
So preaching is going all over. So you also preach and achieve perfection of life.

Jagganath swami ..ki jai
Nitai guar premananda hari….haribol

Becoming meek and humble is outcome of advancement in Krishna Consciousness

“iti bruvanam nrpatim gayaka muni-coditah

tustuvus tusta-manasas tad-vag-amrta-sevaya” (S.B 4.16.1)

Translation and purport by Srila Prabhupada.

Translation:
The great sage Maitreya continued: While King Prthu thus spoke; the humility of his nectarean speeches pleased the reciters very much. Then again they continued to praise the King highly with exalted prayers, as they had been instructed by the great sages.

Purport:
Here the word muni-coditah indicates instructions received from great sages and saintly persons. Although Maharaja Prthu was simply enthroned on the royal seat and was not at that time exhibiting his godly powers, the reciters like the suta, the Magadha and the vandi understood that King Prthu was an incarnation of God. They could understand this by the instructions given by the great sages and learned brahmanas. We have to understand the incarnations of God by the instructions of authorized persons. We cannot manufacture a God by our own concoctions. As stated by Narottama dasa Thakura, sadhu-sastra-guru: one has to test all spiritual matters according to the instructions of saintly persons, scriptures and the spiritual master. The spiritual master is one who follows the instructions of his predecessors, namely the sadhus, or saintly persons.

A bona fide spiritual master does not mention anything not mentioned in the authorized scriptures. Ordinary people have to follow the instructions of sadhu, sastra and guru. Those statements made in the sastras and those made but the bona fide sadhu or guru cannot differ from one another.

Reciters like the suta and the Magadha were confidentially aware that King Prthu was an incarnation of the Personality of Godhead. Although the King denied such praise because he was not at that time exhibiting his godly qualities, the reciters did not stop praising him. Rather, they were very pleased with the King, who, although actually an incarnation of God, was so humble and delightful in his dealings with devotees. In this connection we may note that previously (4.15.21) it was mentioned that King Prthu was smiling and was in a pleasant mood while speaking to the reciters. Thus we have to learn from the Lord or His incarnation how to become gentle and humble. The King’s behavior was very pleasing to the reciters, and consequently the reciters continued their praise and even foretold the King’s future activities, as they had been instructed by the sadhus and sages.

“Praise of King Prthu by the Professional Reciters” this is the name of the chapter. Prthu, what is he known for? the nine processes of devotional service, then for each process there is one devotee who kind of stands out, he is remembered immediately as soon as we say for instance, we say,

“Sravanam”- then which devotee we remember- Parikshit Maharaja.

“Kirtana”- , Sukadeva Goswami,
“Smaranam”- Prahlada Maharaja.

There are other names also who could be said also, some kind of established understanding that these devotees. Then when we come for

“archanam”- Prthu, Prthu Maharaja.

Prthu Maharaja is the topic, he is being praised, King Prthu’s appearance, that the subject matter and after he has appeared and after he has been enthroned, he is being praised by the reciters and he says, ‘no, no, no no, no, not yet, not yet, don’t praise me, I am not praiseworthy yet’ and he said he is a newcomer, ‘I have not manifested all those qualities and ‘maybe you are giving me some more….’. He is thinking like that, O! reciters, you are praising me, maybe this is your expectations, I understand, but I haven’t achieved that evolution or level of qualities and but I understand, this is what you expect but I should not be praised the way you are doing now.

He is incarnation, one of the avataras, saktyavesa avatar of the Lord and hearing these words from him, is quite humbling experience. He has those qualities and he is claiming no.. no.. no.. no I don’t have these qualities. On the contrary, we normally fight, no, no, no I have that quality, no, no, I have more than what you have said. When someone praises us, then we say, Oh! Finally someone has realized that how advanced I am, atleast someone is understanding my advanced stage. So, we fight the other way. We are not yet there, but we say, no, no, we have more than what you think. And Prthu Maharaja says no no, no I am not that, this is too much; wait wait maybe after 10, 20 years could come back and praise me the way you are doing now but right now I am not that….. So, Srila Prabhupada is pointing out this as “humility”. Although actually an incarnation of God, Prthu Maharaja is, he was so humble and delightful in dealing with theses devotees, thus, we have to learn, so some conclusion or some lesson Prabhupada is pointing out. If Prthu Maharaja could be that humble, he does not have to be humble. So, take a lesson and thus we have to learn from the Lord or His incarnation how to become gentle and humble; and the King’s behavior was very pleasing to the reciters.

So, this is a natural consequence of the advancement in Krishna consciousness. What is the consequence? That one becomes meek and humble, he takes humble position which is not a false, genuine humility exists and by cultivation of Krsna consciousness, one realizes how insignificant, tiny person he is. He is not the center of the universe or he is not all in all or he is not the Lord of all. Then this is also when a person is knowledgeable, so this knowledge infact. I am just this part and parcel tiny, just a speck, just a dust, this is knowledge; to know as we are.

Knowledge is to know as we are, to know our position as humble servant, this is knowledge, to know things as they are. That’s knowledge, there is nothing, no exaggeration, no demolition even no plus or minus, as it is, that’s knowledge. So we are somebody in relationship with Krsna, we have some value, but we still are, the fact is we are just tiny living entities and the point is, we are not the only one here in this world. Like us, like you and me, there are billions of personalities and they also have to be accommodated and they also have position, humble position of being servant of the Lord and the servant of the servant serving the Lord and serving the devotees of the Lord and that way. We have our position but we are not the only one in the world, there are others and the spirit souls; they are as good as you are, no less. Literally speaking or some circumstances, big small positions in this world, age factor is there, then education in this world other topics, but Kunti Maharani says, there are 4 things that people become proud of in this world, one thing is the birth, high birth. For some reason, everyone thinks his birth is very high, because I have taken birth in such and such country, my birth is high, because I have taken birth in aristocratic family my birth is high. Because whatever…you could say so many things, you always have some justification how your birth is very high birth and you attached importance to it high birth, that’s one thing.

Then education, education is supposed to make you humble in fact, that’s why you become educated to become knowledgeable of your position, your constitutional position. Education is for that purpose but they never find out who they are, what they are, how tiny they are and who others are and in this whole infrastructure or whole situation they are just one bit, little piece, part of the puzzle. So education, people become proud of education.

Then some kind of beauty. Does anyone think that he is not beautiful? Everyone thinks I am and they look into the mirror and….(Laughter). Everyone is proud of his beauty, master piece or I am the standard. Although everyone has the same, every person has nose, 2 eyes, mouth, forehead, this 4- 5 parts on the face and they have been differently managed, same thing but as soon as you change the positions, different thing happen to you. The tiger, you push his nose down and they have tiger’s nose, cat’s nose. They have the manipulation, Nature is manipulating and just creating different feelings. But the best is, everyone has a mouth, everyone has a nose, nostrils and eyes and forehead, and the chin. There is so much variety, so much variety, for that we should be appreciating God because God’s nature is creating. No two persons are alike except for Pankajanghri and Jananivas in Mayapur. But there is also difference. Those who know, I haven’t figured it out in 30 years (Laughter) don’t tell them. I take long time before I open my mouth. I don’t know who is who there (Laughter) but there is a difference. So the beauty is the eye of the beholder it’s said. Even though the beauty doesn’t exist, the beholder, one who sees, he just feels he thinks, this is a beautiful person. So, like that there is attachment to the beauty.

And then the wealth the 4 things, the high birth then education, beauty, wealth. If I don’t have, I am going to acquire it. I have acquired so much and I have all these plans to acquire more. And I have defeated this enemy and I am going to defeat this many more. This is, Krishna says – demoniac nature, divine and demoniac nature. The thoughts of the demoniac person he always thinking like this, planning like this. So these factors become the bondage and it becomes difficult to exhibit humility. There is every reason they are proud of this possessions or these attributes, beauty, birth, high birth, education. The Lord, He possesses all these qualities, all these opulence’s. Here Prthu does possesses, Prthu Maharaja but he displays his humility. Here Prabhupada is pointing out, look look at this example of Prthu Maharaja, see how humble he is. Be humble; be gentle, gentle, humble. These are qualities of a vaisnava; 26 qualities of vaisnava.

So, there was an assembly of some saintly persons, in Maharashtra. One time, there was a gathering and they were testing who is humble, who is mature. So they decided to find out who is most matured in their knowledge. (Guru Maharaj discussing in Marathi, with a devotee in the audience, what’s his name?). So, we are just trying to gather right figures, right facts there. But the point is, so they decided to check out the humility and maturity of. One person was going to do the examination, he has a stick and he was going to beat on the head and so those who complained, those who protested, those who reacted or those who took their own stick to fight back, so they failed. And those who tolerated the beating on the head, they passed the test, they were considered humble, tolerant.

In other word, not identifying with the body or bodily concept and….No I am different from the body, you rascal, don’t hit me, you hit me! Prabhupada gave that example; someone in the back car dashed into the front car, the person in the front car said, ‘you, you hit me! You hit me!’ that person in the back car, the driver, I didn’t hit you, I hit only your car! But this person in the front car, he identifies himself so much with the car. Although his car was hit from behind, he is, he exclaimed, ‘No! You hit me, you! He came out and gave a punch on his nose. So something similar, this bodily concept; identifying with the body. So, education, the high birth, the beauty, the wealth this is all connected with the body. It is here today it will disappear tomorrow, one of these days and all you are left with the soul. Soul is what you are, what we are and not the body. But, we identify everything that is in relation with the body. My birth is here, so I took birth, my body took birth in this country, so immediately I am this, I am American, I am this, took birth in such and such family, oh! I am high birth such and such family. Wealth comes oh! And immediately I am wealthy person, next you go bankrupt and you are despondent. So, all these things, all in relationship with this world outside. So, cutting all these connections cut off and go internalize, turn towards God and then… My position in relationship with the Lord that is knowledge and that is most important. My relationship with this world is comes and goes, changes ever changing. Ya, so you may become Brahma, you may fall down, become Indra or indragopa germ, some germ its known as indragopa germ, I don’t know, have you seen? Some insignificant germ you become next day you may become Indra.

So, up and down you go, So that’s changing but there is one thing that never changes and answer is ‘ei jiva krsna das e biswas’ Bhaktivinoda Thakura says, ‘ei jiva krsna das e biswas’. These jivas, these living entities are Krsna’s dasa, Krsna’s servants. By knowing this, he says ‘korle to ar duhkho nai’, all your duhka, all your miseries finished. The day you are convinced that I am spirit soul and I am servant of Krsna, ‘ei jiva krsna das e biswas’. Full conviction that I am part and parcel of Krishna, I am servant of Krsna eternally, that is my position. I am eternally servant of Krishna. Thus, finished, you don’t have to bother with some promotion or demotion, promoted to become Indra, demoted to become germ, indra germ. You are free, fixed; my position is I am servant of Lord Krishna. Then, you don’t have to bother and whatever happens in this world up and going down. Others may think you are going up and down but you are fixed as a servant of Krsna, mind fixed to the last breath, not aspiring like Desai, could become Prime Minister; then you’ll come back, you’ll strive to become Prime Minister, all attached to the nice home, nice family, then you may have to come back. You could come back to the same house but you come back as a rat, in the same house you stay but as a rat.

So, the best policy is to find out, ‘ke ami’. This is Sanatana Goswami’s program, ‘ke ami’, he inquired that to Caitanya Mahaprabhu in Benaras, Varanasi. He ‘ke ami’ and why am I going through this, ‘tapa-traya’, why these four miseries; adhyatmika, adhidaivika, adhibautika are bothering me, torturing me, why? Why? This is his question and anyway we are going in philosophical here. The purpose was to say some more pastimes, Pandharpur dhama, Vitthala .

In Remuna in Orissa, then Pandharpur, I don’t know other places; they allow abhishek in front of you, then dressing in front of you. There are only few temples in Bharata varsa. There is no curtain between you and the Lord. This is Lord’s private..this is something that Yashoda has privileged, of course she doesn’t just sit around and watch , she is the one who does the bathing, changing clothes and putting on new clothes and the other assist. So, this is the Lord’s very confidential and internal and eternal spiritual affair pastimes. The bathing is a pastime; whole world is bathing, no big deal. The Lord is bathing, Lord is being dressed. Every time new experience, elevating, evolution and finally you show the mirror to the Lord.

(Guru Maharaj says) I remember when I was the head pujari in Radha Rasabihari temple, within couple of hours dressing Radha Rasabihari. Then turban and then peacock. As soon as you add turban, it would enhance the beauty and the peacock and then finally flute comes, that’s kind of order. And then you show the mirror to the Lord and while He is looking into the mirror, you look at Him and sometimes, happened few times, there is no peacock feather, you are showing mirror to the Lord!!! Then you realize, oh!..Then immediately….the flute is not there, you are showing the mirror to the Lord!!!(Laughter). So, that feeling, you look at the Lord while He is looking into the mirror after you have personally dress Him. The Lord is appreciating, you have dressed Him and He is appreciating the way He has been dressed by you. You feel, oh! The Lord is happy!

When I was the head pujari, brahmacari, I just had dhoti, I didn’t even have kurta (Laughter). It didn’t matter in Mumbai it was manageable without kurta or sometimes kurta, sometimes no kurta because also you cannot offer arati with a kurta on, and I had to offer 6 aratis, I was offering 6 aratis, every arati, so taking off kurta, putting on I was not bothering, I was just keeping it aside. So I didn’t have to bother about myself, my dressing, how I looked like. I was just happy seeing the Lord is happy. The Lord is satisfied, it doesn’t matter how you are looking like.

All lifelong all that you cared is your beauty, you looking into the mirror, praising your own beauty, appreciating your own beauty, your raised nose and your eyes reaching almost ears and if they didn’t reach, you going kind of stretching them with the kajal and ointment and brushing, dragging them. Although your eyes are just like a monkey, you want to make them like a deer and so many other attempts are there. And finally that body dwindles and death, all lifelong you appreciating your body, you attempting to improve your body and skin care and nail care and this polish and that polish. Useless, all that labor finally burnt to the ashes. That beauty you thought was beautiful. What a waste!! All those thoughts gone, finished.

Instead you should appreciate the beauty, appreciate the beauty of the Lord and all that appreciation is to your eternal credit. Purifying and not that you are not beautiful, but that’s not your body that is beautiful, the soul is beautiful, soul is beautiful, soul is Krishna’s child, Krsna is beautiful. The parents are beautiful then the children are also beautiful, isn’t it? That happens, the parents are beautiful featured then the children are also beautiful. So, Krsna is beautiful then His children, the souls are beautiful. We should be more proud of the soul’s beauty not body’s beauty. Soul’s beauty is also eternal, not only soul is eternal, soul’s beauty is also eternal.

So, this Lord Vitthala, Tukarama Maharaja says “sundar te dhyan ubhe vitevari kara katavari thevoniyaa” meditation on the Lord. This is a beautiful meditation of the Lord, Lord who is standing with His hands on His hips. This is “sundar te dhyan ubhe vitevari” the Lord who is standing on the brick. ‘tulsi har gada kase pitambar aavade nirantar hechi dhyana’ the Lord with the garland, tulasi garland this is special feature, I think no deity in the world I would say doesn’t get as much as tulasi and garlands as much as Lord Vitthala gets. No worship of Vishnu is complete without tulasi. That’s there offering tulasi to the feet, offering tulasi in the offering plate on each item. But here there are many tulasi they used, tulasi garlands, tulasi mala, ‘tulsi har gada ‘.

So, Tukarama has praised the Lord, ‘Oh! Lord, you have the garland around your neck, ‘tulsi har gad’ always there is a garland. Tulasi at your feet, tulasi around your neck because she is very dear. Something that is very dear to you, where you put that object? You put around your neck, so tulasi is very dear, so tulasi is around the neck of the Lord. ‘kase pitambar aavade nirantar hechi dhyana’ Oh! Lord, you with a tulasi garland and the bright yellow garments as you wear, I like to remember that form eternally. ‘makar kundale talapti shrwani kanti koustubhmani virajati’ makar kundale – then there are earrings like a shark, the fish and they are dazzling and that dazzle that glitter of the earrings then reflects on your face because they are shinning, sometimes shaking is there, so your face is already bright face, it becomes even more brighter as with the shinning of the earrings. ‘kanti koustubhmani virajati’ ‘ and around Your neck there kanti, kaustuba kaustubha, special mani jewel called kaustubha, no one else has a kaustubha jewel. When they did the churning of the ocean, the demigods on one side, the demons on another side and the milk ocean was being churned, 14 different items emerged from that churning and kaustubha mani was one of the jewels obtained and it was given to Vishnu, Krsna, oh! this is for You. So from that time onwards Vishnu is wearing that Kaustubha mani. Prior to that it was a bit difficult. If you go to Vaikuntha, the residence of Vaikuntha, they look like Vishnu with four hands, they also have crowns and so many similar features, so difficult to know who is who, you may be doing ‘jaya jagadish hare’ to some living entity (Laughter). You thought he is the Lord, that looks like Him, but that’s not Him! So, there was a difficulty like that in recognizing the Lord so He was given this kaustubha mani. That easy, right? One with the kaustubha mani is Vishnu, everyone else is His devotee, part and parcels. This kaustubha mani is like the I.D of the Lord. Oh! he is not the Lord, not the Lord, no kaustubha mani, not him, not him, not him, not him, Yes!! Him! Because He has kaustubha mani, ‘kanti koustubhmani virajati’.

So, “Tuka mhane maze hechi sarv sukh!! Pahin shri mukh avadine” Tukarama Maharaja says, this is it, this beautiful form of the Lord standing on the brick wearing yellow garments, tulasi garland around His neck, kaustubha mani on His chest and earrings hanging from His ears, this Lord, this I , I am just happy to meditate upon this Lord. So, this Lord, He came here from Dwarka and then He never went away! This deity is not installed by anybody; this understands of Tukarama and others. Lord came here and He stood here and He is waiting for His devotees to come to Him.

So, briefly you could say, that once in Dwarka, Rukmini noticed that her husband, Dwarakadhish was paying some extra attention to some young beautiful women. And she didn’t know who she was and the way He was mixing, mingling, very familiar and joking and He had good time and He was so friendly with them. And Rukmini was saying, Oh! Look! He is, He never behaves like this with me, first of all what business He has to talk with other women, so confidentially, so close and right here in my palace! In front of my nose! NO! She was very very upset, with her He has a different dealing, He acts like a boss, you shut up Rukmini, hey! I say shut down, but He was not doing like that; He was very friendly with these strange ladies. Rukmini has never seen before, certainly they were exceptionally beautiful, a group and there was one leader of that group. So, the gopis headed by Radharani, they were in Dwarka and so, Rukmini was naturally very disappointed with her husband, very upset, almost on the verge of going for divorce…just she didn’t go to any court or just she decided to quit or go away. So, she went away and travelled and travelled. Because she is from we could say so, we can’t read the mind of Rukmini, we don’t have access to Rukmini’s thoughts but we could say something that Rukmini appeared in Maharashtra is one of the state in India called Maharashtra. She appeared near Amravati, we have ISKCON center and we have ISKCON in the place of Rukmini’s birth!! Haribol!!

The birth place of Rukmini and we have 5 acres of land acquired in Rukmini’s birth place. Lots of time we do take this Maharashtrian tour to Rukmini’s birthplace, Kundinpur. It’s called Kundinpur. This time we didn’t go. I just received the call yesterday from our Akrura prabhu. He was in Kundinpur, Rukmini’s birthplace and he called and said we are also with Rukmini Dwarkanath. We are in Pandharpur, he is in Kundinpur, we were communicating and he is doing some initial land development, digging well and planting trees and fixing one hill; to have Govardhan hill, there is a hill already there and it was made like a Govardhan and so he is busy. In future you could go in Rukmini’s birthplace, so, she is from here. Maharashtra is very big, so that’s part of Maharashtra, so she left Gujarat, Dwarka, Gujarat state and she entered Maharashtra and finally she comes here on the bank of Chandrabhaga. There was a forest called Dindirvana, she selects this, some traces of the forest is still there, and so she was here by herself doing tapasya or leading various austere life away from opulence of Dwarka. And so there back in Dwarka when Dwarkadhish realized nowhere Rukmini to be found in the palace or in Dwarka town, then He started to search, looking for Rukmini.

There are two versions I have come across that says Dwarkadhish directly came here sitting in the chariot and He found Rukmini in Dindirvana, other side of the river; and the other version is, He went to Vrindavana first and from Vrndavana He came to, He was with, He took some cows with Him. He took cowherd boys with Him and the whole entourage is going around looking and searching and they came to a place called Gopalpur, that’s where you were there this morning. And you saw some footprints of the cows, the calves, yes or no? and flute, footprints, mark of the flute so that Gopala,Gopala Krsna, Gopalapur because Krsna came from Vrndavana and thus where He had come and He sits down takes His food, all the cowherd boys are sitting around Him and He finally finding Rukmini here.

So that 2 versions we can say He came directly from Dwarka, the other one He goes to Vrndavana and then He comes with the cows and cowherd boys from Vrndavana. Hence, the Gopalpur here. So He Dwarkadish, Sri Krsna tries to pacify her, His dear wife Rukmini but that didn’t work. She was very furious and fuming fired up.

So, Dwarkadish didn’t succeed so then He remembered, Lord remembered He had promised one devotee who was living in this area, that’s Lord promise was that He would visit him so Lord goes to visit him and his name is Pundalika and Lord knocked at the door. Hey! Who is it? That’s Me! So, Pundalika realized that from the deep voice, not ordinary voice, deep rumbling like when the clouds, thunder, like a thunder, sweet at the same time and he was a devotee and he had a promise. So, he was busy taking care of his vaisnava parents. “Serving vaisnavas is superior than serving Vishnu”. That philosophy. He requested Lord, ‘Lord I am a bit busy, please hold on, I’ll be just now finished, I’ll be with you, just few more minutes, so please take this, this asana for you.’ So, he took a brick and placed in front, please stand. So, Lord took that asana and stood there and then when he was done with serving his vaisnava parents, he was back with the Lord and then the dialogue. And very special appeal from this Pundalika to the Lord. ‘My dear Lord, you please stay here and thank you for your visit, I have been blessed. I am eternally indebted to you but I would like some many more in future blessed, benedicted by your presence, your darshan, so please stay here.’

And so, Lord decided, obliged and He stays on here, then after sometimes Rukmini, she was pacified, she forgave the Lord for His misbehavior, you could say so then she also joined. Because she joined a little later, she has separate temple, separate altar. They are not on the same altar as you have noticed. So, They have stayed on and They are here and we are here and it has taken long long time for us to directly come in contact with Lord face to face. So, this is not deity that was carved in Jaipur and then later on installed, that’s one way of doing things. The other way is called svayambhu, the Lord just manifests and becomes the deity. That is also not the case here. The third and very unique situation; that Lord during His manifest lila, He visits this place and He stands here, He becomes the deity, Lord. Like we know, Dwijavaninath from Navadwipa, there is Gaura Gadadhara temple in one of the nine islands. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Gadadhara they were visiting this Dwijavaninath and this devotee also requested, ‘My dear Lord, please you stay here’. So, when the Lords were requested, you please stay here, so the Lord became the deity but the two Lords also started towards Jagannatha Puri; that’s where They had to go but then this Dwijavaninath and Gauridas Pandit, two names I am hearing, two similar pastimes happened twice. I’ll say Dwijavaninath because I have heard that. So, when the Lords were walking towards Jagannatha Puri, They were leaving, Dwijavaninath ran, My Dear Lord, you stay.. you stay, then as he was requesting you stay, ok We stay. So, those who were walking towards Puri, they became deities and those who had earlier become deities, they began walking and as they are walking, he running to Them, hey! no, no You stay, you stay, ok We stay; They became deities and other party began walking. He was going back and forth and this pastime, Lord is trying to prove, I am not different from My deity and that we could also understand here.

So Lord stayed here and He also returned to Dwarka and continued His pastimes in Dwarka, not that everything was wound up here. That could be big question, oh! Then what happen to the remaining pastimes of the Lord? They happened as They returned. He stayed here and returned to Dwarka at the same time. So, that Lord is here, whole Gopalapur dimension is here, its Krsna, Vitthala is Krsna.

You saw Him eating butter? You noticed? They offered Him big bowl in the middle of arati. You took notice of that? It happens for few minutes….in the middle of the bathing, abhishek, the arati is going on and He is also offered a bowl butter, so He is Krsna. So, that is the basic foundation of ideas, pastimes and once the Lord was here, then always His devotees and Caitanya Mahaprabhu visits then Nityananda prabhu then many others, Sankaracharya and Tukarama. Aand there is chanting and dancing, ya, there lots of faith in chanting the Holy name people have in Maharashtra. Lots of Bhagavad Gita is also distributed in Maharashtra, Marathi language. The most sold Bhagavad Gita as It Is in India is in Marathi language!! More than Hindi, combined sales of India, Hindi Bhagavad Gita distributions, that is defeated by the scores of Bhagavad Gita in Marathi. There is big demand, big number. I remember when 30 years ago, I was selling Bhagavad Gita for 10 rupees, I sold Bhagavad Gita for 10 rupees, whole day I was saying “gita gya gita bagha” .

Agree with the Lord and disagree with Lord’s external energy or Maya

“tam krsna-padabhinivista-cetasam baddhanjalim prasraya-namra-kandharam
sunanda-nandav upasrtya sasmitam pratyucatuh puskaranabha-sammatau” (SB 4.12.22)

Translation and purport by Srila Prabhupada (Srila Prabhupada ki……….. jai)

TRANSLATION:
Dhruva Maharaja was always absorbed in thinking of the lotus feet of Lord Krsna, his heart was full of Krsna. When the two confidential servants of the Supreme Lord, who were named Nanda and Sunanda, approached him, smiling happily, Dhruva stood with folded hands, bowing humbly. They then addressed him as follows.

PURPORT:

In this verse the word ‘puskaranabha-sammatau’ is significant. Krishna, or Lord Visnu, is known for His lotus eyes, lotus navel. These sentences are to be meditated; you could meditate as we go through these sentences. He has lotus eye, lotus feet and lotus palms, here He is called Puskara-nabha, which means “the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who has a lotus navel” and sammatau means “two confidential or very obedient servants”.
Where is this two coming from? sammatau that means two, not only sammata but sammatau there is difference. krishno –two krishnas, ramo- two ramas, sammatau- two confidential servants and they are obedient . The materialistic way of life differs from the spiritual way of life in that one is disobedience and the other is obedience to the will of the Supreme Lord. All living entities are part and parcel of the Supreme Lord and they are supposed to be always agreeable to the order of the Supreme Person; that is perfect oneness.
In the Vaikun?ha world all the living entities are in oneness with the Supreme Godhead because they never defy His orders. Here in the material world, however, they are not sammata- agreeable, but always asammata- disagreeable. This human form of life is a chance to be trained to be agreeable to the orders of the Supreme Lord. To bring about this training in society is the mission of the Krsna consciousness movement. Prabhupada says one of the mission statement of Krishna consciousness movement- “To bring about this training in the society is the mission of Krishna consciousness movement”.

As stated in the Bhagavad-gita, the laws of material nature are very strict; no one can overcome the stringent laws of material nature. You agree? Agreeing- disagreeing is the topic, this is the truth accept truth as it is. But one who becomes a surrendered soul and agrees to the order of the Supreme Lord can easily overcome those stringent laws.

“mam eva ye prapadyante mayam etam taranti te” (B.G 7.14)

Including the stringent laws, one of the stringent law is “jatasya hi dhruvo mrtyur” (B.6 2.27) dhruvam Dhruv Maharaj, “jatasya hi dhruvo mrtyur” you have taken birth the death is ‘dhruvam’- death is certain. Also if you die, birth is also certain both. Stringent laws could be transcended by being agreeable to the Supreme Lord that’s the point here.

The example of Dhruva Maharaja is very fitting. Simply by becoming agreeable to the orders of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and by developing love for Godhead, Dhruva got the chance to personally meet the confidential servants of Lord Visnu face to face. What was possible for Dhruva Maharaja, listen to this; what was possible for Dhruva Maharaja is possible for everyone Haribol!! Good news, good morning news (Laughter) very encouraging, it is also food for thought in the early morning hours, thinking more about this all day. Anyone and Srila Prabhupada concludes the purport with this statement saying anyone who very seriously engages in devotional service can obtain, in due course of time, the same perfection of the human form of life.

You had darshan you develop love for the Lord and what is happening right now here through the stages towards the end of this episode Dhruva maharaj prasanga. He is getting ready to take off go back home that is also part of the perfection. Dhruv Maharaj is attaining “tam krsna-padabhinivis?a-cetasam baddhanjalim” anjali- palm, baddha- together tight baddhajalim,

“tam k?sna-padabhinivis?a-cetasam baddhanjalim prasraya-namra-kandharam sunanda-nandav upasrtya sasmitam pratyucatuh puskaranabha-sammatau”

Dhruva Maharaj was always absorbed in the thinking of lotus feet of Lord Krishna; his heart was full of Krishna.
Jai Radha Madhav ki………jai

When the two confidential servant of the Supreme Lord who were named Nanda and Sunanda approached him smilingly, smiling happily Dhruva Maharaj stood with the folded hands bowing humbly they then addressed him as follows. The viman has appeared descended and in there these Nanda and Sunanda confidential servants of Lord, they are coming down the aircraft and they are described even their beauties are described.

“deva-pravarau catur-bhujau” (S.B 4.12.20) how many hands, ‘shyamau’ their complexion and ‘kisorav’ – they are young not old folks and they also have lotus eyes and they have club in the hands and beautiful clothing and they have a crown and ‘kundalau’- earring, beautiful personality out of this world they coming from another world no one like them they were seen ‘sa dadarsa’. Dhruva Maharaj saw such personalities ‘vijnaya’-soon he realized “uttamagaya kinkara”. Oh! These are ‘kinkara’ – servants of Uttamagaya, Uttamsloka -Supreme Lord’s servants are here. ‘Utthitah’- immediately Dhruva Maharaj stood up ‘sadhvasa-vismrta-kramah’ but he is bit bewildered also not sure what to do now? ‘Nanama’ this could not go wrong, so he goes forward and he is offering his obeisance.

“namani grnan madhudvisah” (S.B 4.12.21)
chanting the holy names of ‘madhudvisah’ madhud-visah, not madhu visa, you get visa for this country that country. madhudvisah -this is the name of our God brother but he is always addressed not correctly, pronounced not correctly, madhudvisah enemy of madhu, dvisah- enemy madhudvisah. These names are chanted, Lords name he is chanting and as this all happening immediately by seeing those two ‘gaya-kinkarav’ the two servants immediately he is remembering Lord “tam krsna-padabhinivista-cetasam” Dhruva Maharaj started remembering the lotus feet of the Lord starting with the lotus feet of Lord his remembrance begins, totally absorbed full absorption 100% cetasam. ‘mac-citta’- Krishna says like that “mac-citta mad-gata-prana bodhayantah parasparam”

Sri Krishna glorifies or He does introduction of His devotee, what kind of my devotee? mac-citta – his chetna his consciousness ‘mac-citta’- glue down to me. ‘padabhinivis?a-cetasam’ this is his consciousness internally he is absorbed as he is remembering the lotus feet of Lord. ‘Baddhanjalim’ natural manifestation of what is inside what he is thinking about external manifestation immediately his hands are ‘Baddhanjalim’ folded hands ‘prasraya-namra-kandharam’- his shoulder he is bowing down namra with humility bow down, ‘ashraya’ he is taking shelter of the Lord he is bowing down.
“sunanda-nandav upasrtya” and he is noticing those two ‘kinkarav’ the servants are ‘upasrtya’ – they are gradually coming towards him and he is also noticing ‘sasmitam’ – they are smiling they are very happy ‘sasmitam’ and now these two personalities are described “puskaranabha-sammatau” puskaranab- Lord with the lotus naval and seven part of His body are lotus like some of them four five of them are mention already in purport 7 parts are like lotus like, seven parts are pinkish in complexion and total 32 symptoms of Personality of mahapurush the great personality, Personality of Godhead 32 symptoms long arms reaching the knees, broad shoulders ,raised nose.

Dhruva Maharaj was informed by Narada Muni in advance as you will follow the proper channel follow the process the “om namo bhagvate vasudevaya” follow the particular process you will be seeing the Lord and in advance I tell you, when you look at the Lord when you see the lord- He is going to be like this. So that no one could come and cheat “I am Bhagvan!!!!” so he did not know what Bhagvan looks like, then he would go for that Bhagvan. No! No! When you will see the Lord whole description was there, first dialogue there are several verses Narad muni goes on and on Lord like this. His nose would be raised nose not like this; somehow sign of beauty is considered having raised nose is sign of beauty .When matchmaking going on atleast in India they look at the nose of the bride (laughter) bride or bride groom which one? I get confused. Bridegroom is male or female? Bride, so unknowingly they know the standard of beauty is raised nose. Lord has raised nose try to look for such kind of nose and Lord has deep voice, when He talks it’s like rumbling of the clouds His voice deep and loud and clear could go all over universe without microphone could reach everywhere.

When Lord Narsimha was roaring whole world was trembling, so they were hearing lion coming lion coming they were scared. when Krishna plays flute its sound goes all over but again it is, Lord has complete control over that sound also when Krishna plays flute sound is goes all over Braj but not that everyone is listening. Two persons sitting next to each other one of them listens Gopis are listening and they are getting up and running away hey! What happen? What happen? They know what happen they heard. So Lord has complete control who hears, who is allowed to hear, who is not allowed to hear. So not that He just throws like free cookies and wherever it lands. He has whole plan, he listens, he does not listen, he does not listens, he listens. His intelligence is very deep, deep intelligence, naval is deep also. So some part of His body are deep deep naval, deep intelligence like that some part are raised so grand total is 32. Narad muni had given these hints Lord will be looking like one of this “puskaranabha-sammatau”. So when Dhruv Maharaj had seen this “puskaranabha-sammatau” these authorized persons, confidential servants of the Lord, he was infact momentarily bewildered he did not know what to do next so what does this mean.

“sadhvasa-vismrtathe krama?” (S.B 4.12.21) same thing also happened to Dhruva Maharaj, when he had darshan of the Lord now here he is getting ready to go back to Godhead but when he darshan of the Lord for the first time in Madhuvan. You had been hearing Madhuvan Madhuvan but how many of you know where Madhuvan is? How many of you? You may say Vrindavan. He went to the forest we have heard those mention but which forest did he go to? Which forest? Vrindavan forest and then Vrindavan has 12 forest , Radharaman maharaj knows he is sitting here and Madhuvan is forest not far from Mathura Vrindavan next time you are in Vrindavan Mathura you go to Madhuvan its few kilometers outside Mathura infact. When we go on Brajmandal Parikrama that’s easy way don’t go alone come with us (Laughter) this year. (Maharaj says) could I do little commercial here (Laughter) 2011 Brajmandal Parikrama is 25th Brajmandal Parikrama

Brajmandal Parikrama Silver Jubilee Ki…. Jai……..Haribol

So we have very special Parikrama coming up go with us. So as we start our Parikrama very first forest is Madhuvan just outside Mathura and we spend one whole day and one night also he did not meet Narada Muni there he met Narada Muni in Mathura on the banks of Jamuna called as Dhruva Ghat and Narada Muni said – “You go to Madhuvan” and then he went to Madhuvan.

So we spent there because Parikrama is little tapasya program (laughs) don’t be scared, so coincidence first place we go to the place where tapasya was performed by Dhruva Maharaj. So we pray we pray and pray for his mercy so that we are also able to perform some austerity some tapasya. So madhuvan is where? Some idea now, so that’s where he had darshan of the Lord in Satyuga. Madhuvan is also very special, in all the four yugas Lord appeared there in Satya, Treta, Dwapar, Kali this is very significant thing about madhuvan.
So in satyuga He appeared to give darshan He is always there but then He appeared and this pastime took place right there in Madhuvan. So where Dhruva maharaj was performing austerities. This is beginning of pastime of Dhruva maharaj what he was doing is described here he had very intense, very intense program and when there was fruit of that “tivrena bhakti-yogena” Dhruva maharaj is known for this he is serious, very intense “tivrena bhakti-yogena”.
“satatam kirtayanto mam yatantas ca dridha-vratah” (B.G 9.14)

“dridha-vratah” – vow, Dhruva means fixed, how many of you would like to get fixed up? I would like to be fixed up, so it’s very befitting that we are by hearing about the fixed up devotees by being with around the fixed up devotees. Dhruva means fixed, immovable or unstoppable nothing could stop him. Oh! You are just a child, “no….no… whatever I want to meet the Lord” and then he was in that forest. The other day we went to the Bhaktivedanta School and they had a school drama very wonderful drama the topic was Dhruva maharaj and then whole light and sounds very facts like walking through the pages of Bhagvatam or Life of Dhruva maharaj. So especially when this scene, Nanda and Sunanda coming down and to bring him back home very mystical the colors and lights and sounds like real thing, like face to face witnessing that.

So Dhruva maharaj he has already spent six month in Madhuvan within six months he managed to have the darshan of the Lord, he broke all the records within six months. Even it took six years for Buddha to become enlightened in Gaya he spent six years then some enlightenment something came in his direction. But Dhruva maharaj just six month and I was not even six months in the movement in Bombay I had a service of going door to door and begging for rice for food for life, during that time, I was a new bhakta and people would as, O! Have you seen God? (Laughter) and I was thinking give me a break. I just started atleast Dhruva maharaj had six month and I am just few month old bhakta give me some more time. Then six month passed, six year passed (laughter) I am still waiting.

So within six month he managed first month he lived on fruits only then leaves only then water only then air only and then no air Lord only then Lord appeared. But again Dhruva maharaj was so much absorbed, perfection of all that he had been doing austerities and yoga, meditation, mantra chanting he was so much absorbed. He was seeing the Lord inside and Lord had come personally and was standing before him but because he was so much absorbed he did not even take note of Lord standing before him. Lord was wondering O! What happened? Hey! Dhruva hey! I m here, He is trying to get his attention; Dhruva is just absorbed seeing the Lord within with the spiritual vision not with this chakshus but divya chakshu. He was seeing the Lord, Lord soon realized he is taking darshan my darshan within. So Lord turned off that screen inside and then immediacy Dhruva maharaj, hey! What happen did I lose him? As he opened his eyes, Lord that was within was in front of him Haribol….

And now as he was seeing the Lord “tad-darsanenagata-sadhvasah” (S.B 4.9.3) same thing same word this ‘sadhvasah’ which was infact in yesterdays verse, Dhruva maharaj as he was seeing the Lord he was temporarily bewildered not know what to do, what next and again the same symptoms he starts offering prayers. So very similar when he had first darshan and the ultimately he is going back to home two times he is going through very similar emotions dealing with the Lord and here dealing with the confidential servants of the Lord. He is offering prayers as he saw the Lord in Madhuvan dandvat very humbly bowed down and as he saw Lord in front of him he is drinking the beauty of the form of the Lord drinking the beauty of that form of Lord with his eyes.

And of course the Gopis they are very expert in drinking the beauty of Lord and they drink whole beauty they drink the beauty of form of Lord with eyes they drink they drink bring the Lord and as soon as Lord is inside they close these windows these eyes. They take Him to the heart make Him sit down on the throne and then they deal with Him communicate; reciprocate with Him they couldn’t do that outside so many social pressures and customs and netiquettes to be followed they couldn’t meet outside in public. So they would drink the Lord His form beauty and contemplate. So Dhruva maharaj was doing something similar here he is drinking the beauty of Lord with his eyes and with mouth he is kissing the feet of the Lord there is talk of feet when he had first darshan as he is now getting ready to go, he is remembering the same lotus feet of the Lord “padabhinivista-cetasam” absorbed in same lotus feet he had darshan before now he is remembering same darshan of the Lord with his arms he is trying to embrace the Lord. Thus he is practicing, remembering the Lord’s form, beauty trained like that total agreement with the Lord, he is now remembering the Lord at the final moments his life.

Some of the devotees were in Haridwar and they noticed that so many truck loads of coca cola bottles they were distributing freely distributing freely free coca cola right on the bank of Ganga. Some of our preacher asked, what’s happening you are distributing right on the banks of Ganga this coca cola jal not ganga jal whats the idea? So they said when our father was about to leave body we knew he was a devotee of Shiva and so we were reminding “please daddy please daddy remember Bhola” one of the name of Shiva is Bhola Bhola Bhole nath but this father was saying no..no..coca cola (laughter) no no daddy only few more breath to go please say Bhola few more minutes to go please say Bhola no no get me coco cola (laughter) now only one more breath to go please daddy please daddy make attempt to say Bhola atleast no get me coca cola. And he went probably to coca cola loka (laughter). So they the foolish sons they thought last will of our father was coca cola he wanted coca cola so they went to Haridwar distributing coca cola thousands of bottle of coca cola.

So Prabhupada most significant words in this verse Prabhupada has pointed out “puskaranabha-sammatau” pushkarnabh lotus naval Lord and sammatau one who agrees one who agrees, sammautau recognize, approved by the Supreme Personality of Godhead or agreed upon by Supreme Personality of Godhead sanctioned favored by . This word appears in Srimad Bhagvatama and so many other scriptures everywhere 18 entries for this sammata word.

“puskaranabha-sammatau” so agreeing with the the Pushkarnabh, “puskaranabha-sammatau” agreeing with the Supreme Personality of Godhead and then it comes sadhu sammata, shastra sammata approved by sadus, shastra sammata approved by the shastra, acharya sammata approved by the acharya and like that. Then this is all spiritual and desirable all this sanctions, approvals and expectants this kind of agreement with Lord, sadhu, shastra, acharya or Prabhupada sammata, Prabhupada sammata approved by Srila Prabhupada sanctioned by Srila Prabhupada, authorized by Prabhupada and our all Parampara parampara sammata approved by disiplic succession.

So that’s one whole set of approvals or sanctions, agreement and there is whole world out there and they have their sanctions and approvals and agreements and that is you get by agreeing with them with their approval their authorization that’s all brain washing goes on in this world life after life “bahunam janmanam ante” and then comes movement in our life “jnanavan mam prapadyate” (B.G 7.19)

By lords causeless mercy person becomes bhagyavan and he goes for “vasudeva? sarvam iti” he has jnana now, what is his knowledge? “ Vasudev sarvam iti” only this much “Vasudev is all in all” how much knowledge “ Vasudev is all in all” this much knowledge “sa mahatma sudurlabhah” that Mahatma such soul is rare.

So Srila Prabhupada is pointing out in the purport that this Hare Krishna movement is this is the program to train the souls the devotees from other kind of agreement get rid of that, agreeing with the people like asses, like the stool eaters they are agreeing upon different things and praising each other and what not. So get out of that kick all that “sarva-dharman parityajya” and go for “mam ekam saranam vraja” go for such training to train ourselves to agree with the Lord –Radha Madhav sammataha. Sammataha root word is ‘mata’- means obedient of the Lord, His approvals, things authorized by Him. This is Hare Krishna movement with this mission learning to agree with the Lord and to disagree with Lord’s external energy or Maya and agreeing with Krishna if we did that then Prabhupada says same thing could happen to everybody, everyone has a chance. Anyone who very seriously is in devotional service can obtain in due course of time same perfection of human form of life as it was attained by Dhruva Maharaj…..ki …………jai.

We have obligation of spreading the Holy Name

Venue: Mayapur Dhama

Dated: 18th Feb. 2015

Occasion: Disciples gathering

Hare Krishna

This is our yearly Mayapur festival; you are all welcome to Mayapur. This is the best welcome final welcome in Dhama, no welcome is better than this. This is where you have to finally end up going back to godhead back to home. Srila Prabhupada founded ISKCON in 1966 and everything started from there.

Srila Prabhupada has revealed the dhama for us, acharyas revealed the dhama for us. Who knew Mayapur but now it has become world famous. There was a time when Mayapur was not known but now it’s known all over that’s speciality of Srila Prabhupada

Srila Prabhupada also revealed Caitanya Mahaprabhu for us and with that Hari was also made known to the world by Srila Prabhupada. Srila Prabhupada was that chosen Senapati Bhakta, Srila Prabhupada ki…….jai.

So dhama became known to the world and Holy Name became known to the world then Srila Prabhupada gave us ISKCON to prove the prediction of Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
“prithivite ache yata nagaradi grama
sarvatra pracara haibe mora nama”
So this prediction was there but hardly any one ould understand the prediction, but Srila Prabhupada Understood ‘prithivite’ all over not only Bengal. Srila Prabhupada became the ambassador of the Holy Name. The prediction is the will of the Lord it’s not modis strategy or Obamas …its Lords strategy who could avoid it, stop it. So many places are antigod..this ism..that ism..materialism… Seeing is believing…pratyaksya vada.

So we start doubting but its Lord’s desire. So spread the Holy Name, Caitanya Mahaprabhu is Ishvar of Ishvar, Vaikuntha nayak, Jagannath, Guaranga Mahaprabhu ki jai…sleeping people can’t spread Krishna consciousness.

So you have assembled her, you have been touched by Guaranga..Guaranga…Guaranga. You have come in contact with Guaranga, Lord has identified you so it’s an arrangement of the Lord not accident. Its arrangement of the Lord it’s not an accident (Maharaj says I always say this). You are here for a reason, you the soul that’s what you are; you are not a lump of matter the dead matter. This Krishna consciousness is not for the dead matter it’s for the soul it’s for liberation of the soul from the body.

The mind has all the ideas of enjoying, the desire are there right in the mind. So first you come in contact with the Name then from Nama to Dhama that Nama brings you to dhama then you landed up here …nama to dhama

So keep chanting, Kirtan mela is also the reason why you are here. Mayavadi says Lord has no form so they are limiting Lord. Lord is everywhere. Srila Prabhupada revealed the dham for us he started festivals for us. Lord has form so we also have form, soul can talk walk this is how the soul participates in Lords Lila. So Lord had eternal abode, eternal form. So Srila Prabhupada informed the whole world about Mayapur Vrindavan jaganath Puri.

Pralaya does not harm the dhama. Markande muni found Mayapur intact at the time of pralaya. First festival in mayapur 1972, 50 devotees were present for the festival. Then Srila Prabhupada did 3 ground breaking ceremonies first at Mayapur then Vrindavan then Mumbai that was his vision all in 1972. (Maharaj says –In 73 I attended mayapur festival and then onwards..)

Srila Prabhupada revealed the dhama and brought his disciples here. Every year number of devotes is increasing. Srila Prabhupada said the Mayapur festival is like the matsya avatar…he was small in kamandalu then he became big then he was put in pond then finally in ocean. So Srila Prabhupada said our festival is like the matsya avatar now every year the number is increasing all buildings full, preaching is increasing then from nama to Dham.

So you are soul, you won’t realize in few minutes but as you progress in devotional life you will realize. So don’t just let your body grow. It grows as we grow in age and we become vayovrudha but important is becoming jnana vrudha becoming more realized. Prahalad Maharaj was jnana vrudha and hiranyakasapu was vayovrudha.

Green Coconut you shake you hear voice. Then as it grows it becomes separate from the cover. Detached from it, it’s in the shell but not attached to it. ‘You are of this world but you are not of this world’ good words to understand.

So continue chanting grow up do not remain a child, (Maharaj says) how cud I serve? One disciple was asking, I said chant you have taken vow to chant and read books, take association. We are sadhaka, there are 64 components of Bhakti if you can’t do 64 do 9 if you can’t do 9 do 5 of them. Sadhu sanga, nama sankirtan, bhagvat sravan, dhama vasa and vigraha aradhana and if you can’t do 5 just do chanting and if you can’t do that then forget.

Krishna conscious life is life. So propagate Krishna consciousness its nature of devotee to preach like ant they see one grain of sugar and they call all the ants come come and ant verses dog mentality.

So some Indians are not Indians ‘mere juta hai Japani patlun englisthani’. Devotees are real Indians, to make your life perfect ‘janma sarthaka kari karo paropakara’ –give- we have obligation ‘janma sarthaka’ by propagation of Krishna consciousness by all your talent.

So devotees go all around preaching that’s what you need to do in whatever state you are we have this obligation of spreading the Holy Name. ‘bharata-bhumite manusya janma haila yara janma sarthaka kari’ karo paropakara’ (Cc. Adi 9.41)

Hare Krishna

Why is not everyone attracted to Krishna?

“nyasta-kridanako balo jadavat tan-manastaya
krsna-graha-grhitatma na veda jagad idrsam” (S.B 7.4.37)

Translation and purport by Srila Prabhupada ki jai!

Translation: From the very beginning of his childhood, Prahlada Maharaja was uninterested in childish playthings. Indeed, he gave them up altogether and remained silent and dull, being fully absorbed in Krishna consciousness. Since his mind was always affected by Krishna consciousness, he could not understand how the world goes on being fully absorbed in the activities of sense gratification. Prahlada Maharaja is a big example of a great person fully absorbed in Krishna consciousness. In Caitanya-caritamrta (Madhya 8.274) it is said:

“sthavara-jangama dekhe, na dekhe tara murti sarvatra haya nija ista-deva-sphurti”.

A fully Krishna conscious person, although situated in this material world, does not see anything but Krishna, anywhere and everywhere. This is the sign of a Maha-bhagavata. The Maha-bhagavata sees Krishna everywhere because of his attitude of pure love for Krishna. As confirmed in the Brahma-samhita (5.38):

“premmnjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena santah sadaiva hrdayesu vilokayanti
yam syamasundaram acintya-guna-svarupam govindam adi-purusam tam aham bhajami”

“I worship the primeval Lord, Govinda, who is always seen by the devotee whose eyes are anointed with the pulp of love. He is seen in His eternal form of Syamasundara, situated within the heart of the devotee.” An exalted devotee, or mahatma, who is rarely to be seen, remains fully conscious of Krishna and constantly sees the Lord within the core of his heart. It is sometimes said that when one is influenced by evil stars like Saturn, Rahu or Ketu, he cannot make advancement in any prospective activity. In just the opposite way, Prahlada Maharaja was influenced by Krishna, the supreme planet, and thus he could not think of the material world and live without Krishna consciousness. That is the sign of a maha-bhagavata. Even if one is an enemy of Krishna, a maha-bhagavata sees him to be also engaged in Krishna’s service. Another crude example is that everything appears yellow to the jaundiced eye. Similarly, to a maha-bhagavata, everyone but himself appears to be engaged in Krishna’s service.

Prahlada Maharaja is the approved maha-bhagavata, the supreme devotee. In the previous verse it was stated that he had natural attachment (naisargiki ratih). The symptoms of such natural attachment for Krishna are described in this verse. Although Prahlada Maharaja was only a boy, he had no interest in playing. As stated in Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.2.42), viraktir anyatra ca: the symptom of perfect Krishna consciousness is that one loses interest in all material activities. For a small boy to give up playing is impossible, but Prahlada Maharaja, being situated in first-class devotional service, was always absorbed in a trance of Krishna consciousness. Just as a materialistic person is always absorbed in thoughts of material gain, a maha-bhagavata like Prahlada Maharaja is always absorbed in thoughts of Krishna.

“nyasta-kridanako balo jadavat tan-manastaya
krsna-graha-grhitatma na veda jagad idrsam” (S.B. 7.4.37)

From the very beginning of his childhood, Prahlada Maharaja was uninterested in childish playthings. Indeed, he gave them up altogether and remained silent and dull, being fully absorbed in Krishna consciousness. Since his mind was always affected by Krishna consciousness, he could not understand how the world goes on being fully absorbed in the activities of sense gratification.

Big question, how world is going on? Why are people attracted to this or that? Because he was mad after Krishna, he was crazy after Krishna for Krishna, who is crazy, big question. They say we are crazy, we say they are crazy. So Prahlada Maharaja from the very beginning of his childhood, ‘nyasta-kridanako balo’ it’s a difficult thing. ‘bala avasta krida saktah yuva avasta taruni raktah vrudha avasta chinta magnah’, then where is your time. There are only three phases, stages of life; boyhood, youthful days and the old days and you have one activity that keeps you busy and that particular phase of your life Shankarachaya has made this observation ‘bala avasta krida’- you are a bala, you are a child balak and you are attached to the play, all that you could think of is play where are my toys and when would I get the holiday and I would run to the playground, meet my friends and have fun with them, this is during the childhood days.

And as soon as body grows young, young boys are looking for young girls and young girls are trying to find out where are the young boys. This is some kind of un-natural but natural in this world and then as you grow old, chinta-magna, you are totally absorbed in anxiety, you are taken away by anxiety about your future, when I leave my body, what will happen to my property and this and that. So, not to be affected by the play things, toys, when you are a child, not to be affected by young man or young woman when you are young and not to get into this anxiety business, free from anxiety, old age, that is Krishna consciousness.

And Prahlada Maharaja is just a little boy and he has no interest in playing. The children are playing all over the world; children are playing but he was not playing. One time I used to think only children in India must be playing, the western countries are so serious the scientific advancement and from childhood day they must be in the laboratories but then when I went to the west first time I saw children playing in the playground just like I played or other children, no difference whether India or over-seas. Then I joined, I was not a little boy, I joined Krishna consciousness and then my eldest brother brought me home back to the parents otherwise my mother would not survive, she had to see my face.

So as I was spending some days there, my friends would play and I would sit down there chanting my japa which I had learned from Giriraj Maharaj and my authorities in Bombay. I had spent only few weeks and my brother was there to get me. So by seeing that my friends were playing and I was there chanting Hare Krishna, my sister would be in tears crying what is happening, she couldn’t understand as Prahlada Maharaja couldn’t understand, how people are attracted to sense gratification. So my sister had hard time understanding what is this? Why is he not playing, why is he not playing? And he was jadavat as if dull, inert, not moving, he would just sit around just thinking of his Lord. tan-manastaya tat-manah, Krishna says mat-manah this says tat-manah, his mind in Him, om tat sat, tat tattvam asi- tat is Supreme Personality of Godhead. tanmaya – fully absorbed, mattah.

“mac-citta mad-gata-prana bodhayantah parasparam kathayantas ca mam nityam tusyanti ca ramanti ca” (Bg 10.9) with great pride Krishna is describing symptoms of His devotee, my devotee mac-citta – his citta is absorbed in Me, tan-manastaya – his mind was, Narada Muni describing the qualities of Prahlada Maharaja. Prahlada Maharaja’s mind was in Krishna into Krishna and this was because ‘krsna-graha-grhitatma’ – Krishna had become graha, Krishna had become a strong influence like a graha, a planetary influence. Prabhupada explains like a Saturn, Rahu, Ketu, specially people are afraid of Shani, they are specially afraid of Saturn, Shani that even in Braj mandal there’s a big Shani dev mandir and people come from Delhi, Agra, Jaipur everywhere big crowd, big crowd at Shani mandir, they come to Vrindavana, they go to Shani instead of making Krishna as their graha, Krishna the Supreme planet. Prabhupada in the purport says, Krishna the Supreme planet, Krishna ‘surya sam’ we say this, ‘maya hai andhakar, jaha Krishna taha nahe mahe adhikar’. Krishna surya sam, Krishna is what? Godhead is light, so that light, we get light from that Surya that graha that is Godhead, Supreme planet and the greatest influence Prahlada Maharaja has is of this planet, Krishna graham.

Wonderful selection of the word Krishna graha, Krishna has become, He is around, Krishna is around and He is influencing Prahlada Maharaja. grhitatma – he has taken Krishna inside him, grhitatma, he is absorbed in Krishna, Krishna is around him wherever he goes, that planet goes with him, planet is around him always influencing him doesn’t matter where he goes. Krishna graha is following him, he cannot be away from this Krishna graha. ‘krsna-graha-grhitatma’ – and as he is fully absorbed in Krishna, in Krishna consciousness, he is just a little boy and na veda – that is why he has difficulty understanding why other are attracted to something else rubbish jagad idrsam – this world is like this the way it is as he sees around, why is it like this? na veda – beyond his comprehension, why? Why is not everyone attracted to Krishna?

‘ya karsati sa krsna’- Krishna is that personality who attracts everybody but unfortunately some are attracted directly to Krishna, some are attracted to His external energy ‘mama maya duratyaya’ (Bg 7.14) they are attracted to maya, whose maya is it? Whose maya? Krishna’s maya they are attracted to. So they are attracted, good to be attracted, attracted by Krishna Himself directly not by His external energy. Such are the wonderful qualities of Prahlada Maharaja. I mean I should have said lot of qualities and then say such, we just said few but there are many more qualities we have missed, some of us we were not here just landed in Mayapur were deprived of those morning classes in Mayapur and devotees are listening to the good qualities, the best qualities of Prahlada Mharaja.

The devotee who asked me take class he said if I wanted to I could summarize the chapter. So I will not summarize the whole chapter just back into few verses where Narada Muni begins narrate the few qualities of Prahlada Maharaja. These are good morning hours, good morning and the mornings are to be spared to be reserved for remembering devotees like Prahlada Maharaja, remembering Personality of Godhead or His devotees. When there is a function, some seats are reserved there’s sign also ‘reserved’, so mornings are reserved, ‘pratah smarniya’ Prahlada Maharaja is pratah smarniya, worth remembering. As soon as you get up, you shouldn’t be thinking of some rascal, no keep those rascals out of your sight. Lord Krishna in Dwarka, He would go around seeing a cow, meeting a Brahmin, some gentleman like that. He would make sure while touring the wonderful auspicious objects He comes across a cow, better it is calf drinking milk, a person drinking water, person with full water-pot, not an empty water-pot. And make sure the cat doesn’t cross, when cat is running the ghosts are running behind him and they may capture us, catch up with us.

So the morning hours are very special hours, morning hour’s brahma muhurta these hours are foundation of the day. Foundation of day we build the day with the foundation of the morning. Morning is strong; yesterday we were talking also sadhana for the managers. Morning should be reserved by the managers fully absorbed sadhana, principles of sadhana that is remembering Prabhupada also. Ofcourse beginning with Prabhupada, ‘dhyayan stuvams tasya yasas tri-sandhyam vande guroh sri caranaravindam’ ‘dhyayan stuvams tasya yasas tri-sandhyam’- tri-sandhyam– pratah, madhyan and sandhya, three joints, thrice a day starting with the morning.

So we could spend little time remembering some other qualities that Narada Muni has mentioned, qualities of Prahlada Maharaja and when we say him Maharaj, he is Raja Maharaja not necessarily sannyasi maharaja, he was a king also he is prince now. He would be the king, so some of us assembled are administrators, managers so you could take some qualities, learn from the example or take these qualities inside us, imbibe these qualities that would help us to manage our little kingdoms, Pune kingdom or Calcutta kingdom, ISKCON this, ISKCON that these are all our kingdoms and presidents, managers, emperor, king, administrator.

Brahmanyah and also in few days time we will be celebrating because of such wonderful qualities of Prahlada Maharaja. Lord appeared to protect His devotee Prahlada Maharaja, just few days around the corners, more time we spend thinking of Prahlada then Narsimha would also protect us, very kind Narsimha dev ki Jai! He is very very kind. Radha Madhav becomes Narsimha and He is very very kind. Lot of things are revealed by mercy of Narsimha. “sridharah sakalam vetti sri nrsimha prasadatah” Oh! This Sridhar Swami he knows everything Lord said once when Sridhar Swami Maharaja, not our Sridhar Maharaja, the commentator Sridhar Maharaja he appeared even before Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Even Chaitanya Mahaprabhu had high regards for Sridhar Swami. So when he compiled his commentary on Bhagvad Gita, Sridhar Swami did, then he presented that to the Lord to the deity to review his commentary, I need some comments my dear Lord, please review my book.

So that time Lord made this statement, “Aham Vetti suko vetti” I know and Sukhdev Goswami also knows “vetti na vetti va” who’s that? Vyasadev ‘vetti na vetti va’- I am not sure whether Vyasadev knows everything or he doesn’t know as he compiled so many other scriptures also. Finally he came to final conclusion but for sure I know, Sukhdev Goswami knows, I don’t know about Srila Vyasadev but Srila Sridhar Swami knows ‘Sri nrsimha prasadtah’. Sridhar Swami was a great devotee of Narsimha that was his worshipable deity. Then our Sridhar Maharaja also became a worshiper of Narsimha and you know how fearless Sridhar Maharaja was during his last days, he had no fear of death, he was smiling in the face of the death.

“dehantara-praptir dhiras tatra na muhyati” (B.G 2.13) not bewildered but the change that was about to come Jai Narsimhadeva ki Jai! Narsimhadeva protects may all our managers be protected by Lord Narsimha but when we have qualities like Prahlada Maharaja then Lord has no choice but to protect us, we don’t even have to pray, He will do His duty, He knows Oh! here my devotee, He would be around you, around us wanting eagerly wanting to protect. So what are some of the qualities of..so we go back to the verse. “brahmanyah sila-sampannah” (SB 7.4.31) brahmanyah, Prahlada Maharaja was ‘brahmanyah’ – very cultured brahmin, ‘brahmanyah sila-sampannah’ – the best character, sila-sampannah, su-sila – money is lost -nothing is lost, health is lost- something is lost, character is lost- nothing is left, everything is lost. So he was the best character, sila-sampannah so much more could be said about each quality but we have to move on.

‘satya-sandho’ – always searching for the absolute truth, Prahlada Maharaja Haribol!! Always absorbed and looking looking looking where is where is He, satya-sandho, jitendriyah – jit-indriyah, conqueror of indriyas, he had conquered his senses, job becomes lot easier. it is a different life all together of those who are jitendriyas, sense controllers, lot of energy is invested in trying to control the senses and sometimes they go but those who have controlled their senses or even endeavoring to control, so we have succeeded to some extent and to that extent Lord is with us or reciprocating accordingly. ‘ye yatha mam prapadyante’ (Bg 4.11) sense controlled, “take control of your life, take control of your life” so that is jitendriyah- you have to become controlled and not something else is controlling, don’t push me around. You go to the west and they say ‘don’t push me around’, but his wine and girlfriend is always pushing him around senses are pushing him around, he must smoke now and he has to, he is pushed around he has to go buy a cigarette. Although he says don’t push me around but he is pushed around around all the time, don’t push me around, the way they say in the west. So jitendriyah, Krishna was pushing him around and nothing else was between him and Krishna, jitendriyah. ‘atmavat sarva-bhutanam eka-priya-suhrttamah’ (SB 7.4.31) ‘atmavat sarva-bhutanam’ like atmavat sarva bhutesu.

“matrvat para-daresu para-dravyesu lostravat
atmavat sarva-bhutesu yah pasyati sa panditah”

That person is a learned pandit person, ‘atmavat sarva bhutesu’ same thing
atmavat sarva-bhutanam – O! Others are like me; I would treat others as I would treat myself or others are me that’s me that person is me. The way I would like to be treated I would also treat that person like wise ‘atmavat’ or be concerned with his needs, his interest, and his concerns. Put yourself in that person’s shoes did I say it right? Put into other’s shoes and then you feel how you feel into that shoe. So Prahlada Maharaja this is his quality, as a manager we need this quality, understand others before we make a judgment about him. Be him, you be him ‘atmavat sarva bhutanam’, atmavat – I am him, it’s not a mayavad, we are all one but understand him, he is a individual, be personal not impersonal or neutral. Be personal each person is different and that goes on. ‘eka-priya-suhrttamah’ – the way Lord treats others he used to also treat them like Lord would treat them others, his treatment was not different from Lord’s treatment but he would understand how would Lord treat this person under such circumstances and then he would treat him accordingly. Lord would speak to him ‘dadami buddhi-yogam’ (Bg 10.10), taking advice from others, how should I tackle this one now, it’s beyond me now I can’t handle or I am bewildered like that.

So understanding and “dasavat sannataryanghrih” (SB 7.4.32) and if there were superior, so there are three things, three kinds of dealings of Prahlada Maharaja mentioned, if someone is superior then he would dasavat – like their servant respecting elders and being their servant. ‘pitrvad dina-vatsalah’ first it was atmavat then there was a dasavat, he made mental notes, very nice adjectives used qualities atmavat, dasavat, pitrvad dina-vatsalah there are some juniors, children, dependents then he would take the position of pitrvad like fatherly. He becomes elderly for them and treating them nicely like children are looked after, he is a father father figure, they are dependent on him. ‘bhratrvat sadrse snigdho’ and if they are equal then like a brother or a friend – sadrse, with the elders he become dasavat but the juniors he becomes pitrvad like a father and equals bhratrvat he takes the position of a brother or friend.

‘gurusv isvara-bhavanah’ and towards gurus isvara-bhavanah what is this isvara-bhavanah – saksad-dharitvena samasta-sastrair, isvara-bhavanah, saksad hari, well then at the same time, ‘saksad-dharitvena samasta-sastrair kintu prabhor yah priya eva tasya’ so he has good understanding, proper understanding of who is who and he deals differently, accordingly, appropriately with each person. ‘vidyartha-rupa-janmadhyo’ he is full of knowledge, he has lots of wealth also, he is beautiful and his birth he is a leader in that demoniac community, he is a leader. So inspite of all this he is equipped with so many qualities, he is free from pride. ‘mana-stambha-vivarjitah’ while Queen Kunti says ‘janmaisvarya-sruta-sribhir’ as soon as you have high birth, some learning, you have beauty then mana – you become full of pride and then you cannot chant Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. It’s very difficult for such person to utter Holy Name of Lord, I am from such and such family what do you know, I am wealthy person.

Sir take little Prasad! I approached once one gentleman he said just now going to hilton hotels just going to hilton hotel. So he refused prasad I am going to hilton hotel he thought this prasad is for poor people I am a rich person don’t you see my car I just got out of this car, don’t you see a dog here he showed I am not staying in some kind of hut. So with this you can’t take to Krishna consciousness, but that was not the case with Prahlada Maharaja, ‘nodvigna-citto vyasanesu nihsprhah’ (SB 7.4.33) and when there are difficult times, dangerous conditions, Prabhupada is translating ‘vyasanesu nodvigna varah’- not disturbed, undisturbed under the trying times difficult situations. “duhkhesv anudvigna-manah sukhesu vigata-sprhah” (Bg 2.56) Krishna in second chapter He says there’s every reason for you to get agitated, disturbed. But again there in second chapter Krishna is describing the qualities of munih, person fixed in Krishna consciousness, person in samadhi, what are the symptoms, please explain the symptoms ‘ka bhasa’ (Bg 2.54) – what kind of language does he speak? How does he sit? How does he eat? How does he walk? And then Krishna talks. Oh! whenever there are difficult times, such devotee absorbed in Krishna consciousness, ‘samadhi-sthasya kesava’ that’s one in samadhi absorbed in Krishna consciousness, ‘anudvigna-manah’ duhkhesv anudvigna-manah.

The same thing here Prahlada Maharaja also not disturbed by ‘vyasanesu dantendriya’ – he had complete control over his senses and intelligence, he had refined intelligence as a result he was ‘prasanta-kamo’ – prasanta – for him one who has controlled his senses, for him Lord is around the corner, Lord is not away. So ‘prasanta kamo’ – he has subdued all the lusty desires. Prahlada Maharaja had ‘rahitasuro ’surah’ he was born in asura family but he was free from asura qualities. Although born in demoniac family, he had no demoniac qualities and Prabhupada writes in purport – From this verse we discover that a man is not qualified or disqualified simply by birth. This gives us encouragement, we are also not necessarily born in a devotee family, born in less or more demoniac family and it seems possible even in such family we could have qualities like Prahlada Maharaja. Prabhupada is encouraging us, you don’t be discouraged, look example of Prahlada Maharaja, just have to take shelter of Narada Muni, listen to him or listen to Prabhupada, disciplic succession.

“yasmin mahad-guna rajan grhyante kavibhir muhuh” (SB 7.4.34) Prahlada Maharaja’s qualities are chanted, remembered by kavibhir, the poet, saintly devotees, they always remember his qualities. ‘yatha bhagavatisvare’ – and his qualities are like qualities of Supreme Personality of Godhead in minute quantity, his qualities are qualities of.., they exist forever in his devotee like Prahlada, Supreme Lord’s qualities exist in Prahlada like devotee forever. I am just running through this quickly, few more verses to go.

“sadhu-gatha-sadasi” (SB 7.4.35) whenever devotees get together and they want to make a list of great devotees, that place the name of Prahlada will appear, when devotees want to talk of great devotees so far, world has seen these great devotees, immediately Prahlada Maharaja’s name is there. Some of you were children, I remember also when I was child and I was immediately told story of Dhruva Maharaja, Prahlada Maharaja, who else heard these stories when you were just little children? Atleast from India side, not in Boston or New York, such stories were not going around but others born in Bharat varsha, immediately we hear the Dhruva Maharaja, Prahlada Maharaja, these are big names.

And “gunair alam asankhyeyair mahatmyam” (SB 7.4.36) So Narada Muni says what could I say his qualities are so many, innumerable qualities, you cannot make a list, big list, unlimited qualities, tasya sucyate – but one thing, one amongst those qualities that stands out is ‘vasudeve bhagavati yasya naisargiki ratih’ is naisargiki ratih- natural attraction for the Lord “vasudeve bhagavati bhakti-yogah prayojitah janayaty asu vairagyam jnanam ca yad ahaitukam” (SB 1.2.7) his attachment for Lord is so natural that I must tell, that I must say. Even if I don’t get to say all the qualities but I must point this out to you Narada Muni says, is he talking to Yudhistira Maharaja? Yes he is talking with Yudhistira Maharaja Rajan, my dear king, I won’t be able to say everything all the qualities but I must bring this to your attention, ‘vasudeve bhagavati yasya naisargiki ratih’ – natural attraction he had for his Lord.

Oh! Is your Lord everywhere? Ofcourse. In this pillar also? Why not? He didn’t even had to think; natural. Is your Lord everywhere? Yes Yes, in this pillar also? But this pillar is my pillar, this belongs to me, your Lord is residing here, not paying any rent nothing. And because Prahlada Maharaja had very spontaneously, yes my Lord is everywhere, in the pillar also and Bhagvatam says ‘bhasitum satya’ – to prove that words of Prahlada Maharaja were true, Lord appeared in the pillar. His devotee had said, Prahlada said my Lord is in the pillar, he has already said it, now I have no choice, Lord appeared on the pillar and He proved that His devotee’s words were true. Such a naisargiki ratih Prahlada Maharaja very natural. He was born with these qualities, this was his first nature.

As a result we come to the second verse: “nyasta-kridanako balo” (SB 7.4.37) even as a child, he would not play everyone else was playing. On the contrary he would stop other children from playing, hey friends come come and then he would get them to chant and dance during the school break when one teacher has left, another one is coming, he would become a teacher, he would go hey friends stand up stand up raise your hands Hare Krishna Hare Krishna.. and the others would chant. So he was stopping playing of others as Srila Prabhupada had stopped also our playing. We could have certainly done lots of other nonsense things like I could have, my parents wanted me to be an engineer by now I would have my own a motor bike and returned back to village with the bike to my parents.

But because Prabhupada also like a graha like a planet in our life he appeared and he changed everything, the whole direction changed. Whatever was due, the direction was set because of our karmas and Prabhupada appeared in our life and he also gave Krishna in our life, he gave us Radha Madhav, he gave us Narsimha, he gave us Prahlada Maharaja, his life, his teachings, his Bhagvatam all these are like a planet Krishna planets for us also. So more we expose ourselves to these sunrays of this Krishna graha then we will be purified as sunrays are purifying all the places where people pass stool, urine, sun is purifying sun is not contaminated from this, sun is purified.

So Krishna is there in the form of Radha Madhav, the deities, Krishna is there in the form of Holy Name for us, Krishna is as brilliant as sun “kalau nasta-drsam esa” (SB 1.3.43) people lost their eye sight in this age of Kali then Lord arranged this Bhagvatam- ‘puranarko adhunoditah’. Bhagavtam appeared which is brilliant as sun, it is another sun supreme planet Bhagvatam, prasadam is another Krishna, ‘swa-prasad anna dilo bhai’ Lord appears in the form of prasad. The dham is not different from Lord. So many of you are so fortunate that you could, we are just visitors, we are in and out but some of you have become permanent residents you are here, we come we go but you are always here, day after day year after year you get to be in the dham.

So by avoiding all the ten offenses at the lotus feet of the dham reside in the dham influence your life, our life, dham is another planet. So all these different features have been packet in package called International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Krishna is packed in different features and delivered unto us and in turn it is our duty to deliver this Krishna to others and others and others. So children will stop playing, young people will stop running after this or that one or there will no anxiety during old age. Nice time during old age till the last breath such is a life influenced by, if it is influenced by Krishna planet, Supreme planet.

Any questions or comments? Srila Prabhupada ki Jai!

By the proper use of intelligence one’s consciousness is expanded and ultimate expansion of consciousness is Krishna consciousness

Venue: Nagpur

Srimad Bhagvatam Canto 3, chapter 26 and text number 29 and 30.

“taijasat tu vikurvanad buddhi-tattvam abhut sati
dravya-sphurana-vijnanam indriyanam anugrahah” (S.B 3.26.29)

taijasat — from the false ego in passion; tu — then; vikurvanat — undergoing transformation; buddhi — intelligence; tattvam — principle; abhut — took birth; sati — O virtuous lady; dravya — objects; sphurana — coming into view; vijnanam — ascertaining; indriyanam — to the senses; anugrahah — giving assistance.

Translation and purport by Srila Prabhupada ki ………jai!

Ya! this chapter is entitled Fundamental Principles of Material Nature (SB 3.26) so these are Fundamental Principles, intelligence is one of them that’s being described here.

Translation: By transformation of the false ego in passion, intelligence takes birth, O virtuous lady, that’s the address oh! Sati. The functions of intelligence are to help in ascertaining the nature of objects when they come into view, and to help the senses.

Purport: Intelligence is the discriminating power to understand an object, and it helps the senses make choices. Therefore intelligence is supposed to be the master of the senses. The perfection of intelligence is attained when one becomes fixed in the activities of Krishna consciousness. By the proper use of intelligence one’s consciousness is expanded, and the ultimate expansion of consciousness is Krsna consciousness. Maharaj says it’s the end of this purport but I think we will take one more verse just to expand this thought further or for more elaboration.

“samsayo atha viparyaso niscayah smrtir eva ca
svapa ity ucyate buddher laksanam vrttitah prthak”
(S.B 3.26.30)

Translation: Doubt, misapprehension, correct apprehension, memory and sleep, as determined by their different functions, are said to be the distinct characteristics of intelligence.

Purport: Doubt is one of the important functions of intelligence and raising questions is sign of intelligence, blind acceptance of something does not give evidence of intelligence. If you accept things blindly, you could be less intelligent that’s why you are accepting things blindly. So apply your intelligence to understand, ask questions you may have some doubts also the points under discussion, so you probe deeper into the matter with the help of intelligence.
Maharaj says anyways I started talking already not finished the purport what I was just trying to say is in Vedanta Sutra also there is approach like this or commentaries of Vedanta sutra. There is vishaya and there is samsaya. Vishay is object or subject, next thing is samsaya or doubt this is purva paksha. Vishaya, samsaya, subject, doubt the is purva paksha, the opinions, prior thoughts, preliminary thoughts they are addressed and then Siddhanta is established, there is one more, five point approach, five steps, before a matter is settled or the matter is settled or subject matter is settled or understood . So vishaya, samsaya, subject and the doubt, purva paksha, siddhanta.
“pariprasnena sevaya” (B.G 4.34) Krishna has also advised
“tad viddhi pranipatena pariprasnena sevaya”

You approach spiritual master, spiritual authority and do what? Pariprasnena – you ask questions because you also have some doubts, doubts must be clarified otherwise doubts could act as your enemies, doubts could be your enemies and then Krishna does say- “samsayatma vinasyati” (B.G 4.40) One who remains full of doubt forever, to have doubt is good thing even sign of intelligence but to maintain those doubts not to address those doubts with the help of intelligence, then you are doomed.
Krishna says “samsayatma vinasyati” atma or person who maintain samsaya, maintaining doubts then he will be finished “samsayatma vinasyati”. So raising questions expressing doubts is a sign of intelligence. The blind acceptance of something does not give sign of intelligence doesn’t prove that you are or that person is intelligent because he is not raising questions so that his doubts could also be addressed, one becomes free from doubts. That’s why Arjuna also addressed Krishna as O! Madhusudhana, O! Killer of Madhu demon so in the comments given by Acharayas there, why he is addressing Krishna as Madhusudhan, you are killer of madhu demon now you become killer of my doubt, kill my doubt O! Madhusudhana. Sudan is killer, Madhusudhana.

Purport (remaining): Therefore the word samsaya is very important; in order to cultivate intelligence, one should be doubtful in the beginning. But then he is also faithful in beginning “pariprasnena sevaya” there is service attitude or he has faith in the person he has approached, he has faith in him. So doubting in the beginning with a faith also, he has faith. He is not doubtful and faithless, no. Doubt is welcome but being faithless is dangerous, you would not go anywhere or you would not become free from doubt if you doubt the person you have approached, so first have faith in the person that you have approached and then ask questions so that you could become free from doubts.

Doubt could be a big stumbling block anartha, anartha nirvitti. But doubting is not very favourable when information is received from the proper source. Prabhupada has already stated that in the purport. In Bhagvat Gita, Lord says that doubting the words of authority is the cause of destruction “samsayatma vinasyati”.
As described in Patanjali yoga system “pramana-viparyaya-vikalpa-nidra-smrtyah”. By intelligence only one can understand things as they are. Very profound statement sounds just a statement but quite a statement. By intelligence only one can understand things as they are or one could understand things as they are or you could or one could understand Bhagvat Gita as it is. May be that person was not very intelligent that’s why there is dialogue between Moses in bible, Moses and the Lord. So when the Moses approached the Lord, Lord was not in the front but he considered that the Lord was there he wanted to know about the Lord. Moses is a person a historical person, he existed one time long time ago he said, “O! Lord please reveal unto me” or something like that and then Lord just said, “I am what I am” you wanted to know who I am “I am what I am, okay!” (Laughter). He said everything and he did not said nothing at the same time “I am what I am”, it’s true, right? I am what I am. He was not fully surrendered so he didn’t reveal what He is.
“param brahma param dhama pavitram paramam bhavan” (B.G 10.12)

Lord reveals things unto Arjuna very confidential things, most confidential things. “aham sarvasya prabhavo mattah sarvam pravartate” (BG 10.8) and like that he goes on and on Lord has said so much or everything in nutshell so then to understand things the subject as it is, this is the function of intelligence, by intelligence only one can understand things as they are. So with intelligence only one could understand Bhagvat gita as it is “AS IT IS” as it was, as it is, as it would be, will be, would be understood only by intelligent person or with the help of intelligence.

Somehow Srila Prabhupada had walked into the assemble of where Bhakti Siddhant Saraswati Thakur was seated on a aasan and he was addressing a group of his followers or disciples and there comes Abhay Babu and Narendra Malik. So Abhay Babu bowed down, he was offering his obeisance’s and he had not even sat, settled properly, in the middle of this obeisance’s and then sitting or settling Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati O! you, you are intelligent , you seem to be an intelligent person, you should propagate this Krishna consciousness in the English language in the western world or all over the world.

So Prabhupada was identified and described as intelligent person, you are intelligent. So that intelligent Abhay Babu understood Bhagvat Gita AS IT IS, because understanding things as they are or as it is, is a function of intelligence. And then one takes to Krishna consciousness, it is a sign of intelligence, if you takes to Krishna consciousness that is a sign that you are intelligent person otherwise less intelligent “Krsna jei bhaje sei bada catur” one who worships Krishna is catur, he is intelligent hosiyar.

And my mother was not happy (Laughter) when I took to Krishna consciousness, when I was little boy and she would bring me to the temple in the village and she used to ask me to fold your hands, fold your hands and please pray, please pray and O! What should I pray and she used to say “O! God O! Lord give me ‘intelligence’ (laughter)” please pray to the Lord for intelligence. So it may not be instantly but eventually when Lord heard my prayer (laughter) and gave me intelligence as a result I took to Krishna consciousness and mother was not happy (Laughter).

What kind of intelligence God has given you? She was not expecting that kind of intelligence. So there is a difference between intelligence and intelligence and there are lot of intelligent people also, around the world. So they posses intelligence of a kind, a kind of intelligence, it’s a kind of intelligence, but they are not intelligent because they do not take to Krishna consciousness, because they are also not understanding things ‘as they are’. The power of discrimination is a function of intelligence, power to discriminate this from that, good from bad. So materially intelligent people they also discriminate, who does not discriminate? Even a cat has intelligence and does exhibit the power of discrimination.
The cat exactly knows when to steal or drink the milk, there is a pot of milk right there the cat sits around, as if not interested in the milk (laughter) sometimes closing eyes like a yogi not interested while the owner of the milk is around the cat shows, “no! I am not interested your milk is safe don’t worry” as soon as, the lady walks away , she walks out, immediately the cat goes for the milk and drinks it all, this is the power of discrimination. Cat exactly knows what to do, when to drink when not to drink so this is also intelligence, the power of discrimination. So the intelligent people so called intelligent people of this world they discriminate, in the dry stool and wet stool, both are stools, dry and wet, take a pick, you have a choice, dry and wet fresh to go, steaming (Laughter).

So Caitanya Caritamrita says “yei bhalo yei manda yei sab brahm” those who stay in Mayapur then bhalo bhalo this is good bhalo, not good dull so this kind of discrimination mundane material discrimination bhalo-manda yai sab brahm, this all illusion, both illusion. So under the spell of illusion materially intelligent people discriminate good from bad but then both infact bad thing or take a pick between hell and heaven they would prefer to going to heaven but what is that, not very intelligent decision “ksine punye martya-lokam visanti “ (B.G 9.21) at one points all the pious credit would be exhausted and you are back to square one you come back again, not very intelligent thing to do. So this whole religion, religious mantra and this whole worshipable objects and all that to go to heaven big chunk of the dharma, dharmic principles, the process just to go to heaven.

But not very intelligent thing, to do, to go to the heaven because the heaven is bhalo –good and the hell is bad this kind of discrimination because they both are bad that’s why Krishna says “sarva-dharman parityajya” (B.G 10.66) Dharma that makes heaven as your destination that’s not very intelligent thing to do, that’s why abandon reject it. “mam ekam saranam vraja” surrender unto me.

“Kamais tais tair hrita jnanah prapadyante anya-devatah” (B.G 7.20)
Krishna also says those who surrender unto others, other demigod “Kamais tais tair hrita jnanah” their intelligence is stolen by ‘kama’- the lust, as a result they surrender unto others Demigods. ‘alpa-medhasam’ – less intelligent, Lord says – those who worship Demigods and they want to go to heaven they are alpa medhasam, medha- means intelligent and alpa- means less so less intelligent. They are less intelligent they go for Demigod worship and they want to go to heaven and this is all karmakanda. This is dharma part of Vedas but karmakanda section- pious activities or yagya performances so this is less intelligent thing they are not intelligent karmakanda party is not intelligent party, less intelligent.

Ofcourse materially intelligent people atheists or scientists they are even lower grade then comes karmakanda party they also less intelligent then the materialistic and then spiritualists. But karmakanda “karmakanda jnana kanda keval visayer bhanda” karmakanda jnanakanda is visayer bhanda- it is a pot of poison not very intelligent thing to do to drink a pot of poison.

“manushya-janama paiya, radha-krishna na bhajiya, janiya suniya visha khainu”. Our Acharyas say you have attained this rare human form of life, “manushya-janama paiya, radha-krishna na bhajiya” but you are not worshiping Radha and Krishna. So than what are you doing “janiya suniya visha khainu” you are only drinking poison or even poisonous vapours you are inhaling the smoke, he may be thinking by smoking I live life king size, live life king size, got that part? Living life of what size? King size life, you live, you live how? By smoking particular brand of they are advertising like this. I keep saying this from time to time. I read that advertisement that says live life king size you smoke our cigarette and then when we drove further I read one more sign that says cancer hospital this way (Laughter).

So just now we are living our life king size and next thing is cancer hospital this way or you are in I.C.U intense care unit – what a lifestyle. So not very intelligent thing to do, so not very intelligent person would go for that glamor or that dazzle or that advertisement is cheating but very intelligent people they know, how to get you? How to brainwash you? How to sell there product? They know your weaknesses, they are very intelligent people, these advertisement industry. They know your weakness and then they advertise things, they tell you just they have truth and you are cheated because you are not very intelligent and don’t understand things as they are you don’t get the full picture. You only think of action but reaction part you don’t think of.
The shake hand is good; beginning is good but then comes the slap (Laughter). To buy product you pay some price, suffering that comes that’s free, free suffering is free its part of the package (Laughter).

“ye hi samsparsa-ja bhoga duhkha-yonaya eva te
ady-antavantah kaunteya na tesu ramate budhah” (B.G 5.22 ).

Budhah- budhiman, ‘na tesu ramate budhah’ Intelligent person ‘na tesu ramate’ he doesn’t indulge in those acts. ‘ ady-antavantah’ there is a beginning but soon there is an end very miserable, terrible horrible way there is an end. You initiated you began a project any sense gratificatory project but soon it will be suffering misery. ‘ ye hi samsparsa-ja bhoga’ bhoga is there is some enjoyment is there, senses coming in contact of sense object ‘ye hi samsparsa-ja’ ja – means giving birth. Senses coming in contact with the sense objects something takes birth that’s bhoga enjoyment takes birth but then He says ‘duhkha-yonaya eva te ‘ that very source that gave you enjoyment will give you misery next moment or next day or one of these days will be misery suffering ‘duhkha-yonaya eva te’.

So complete picture the coin as both sides, so like that the world is full of ‘dvandva’ dvandvatmak the world is dvandvatmak- full of this dual nature, hell and heaven, you get both happiness and distress, you get both, what else? (answer) day and night both, birth and death you get both, honor-dishonour you get both, winter and then soon it will be summer giving some relief you get bored. So like that there could be hundreds and thousands of items that could be put in this list, this dvandva list -dual nature. So it’s not a very intelligent adi and anta- beginning and ending, beginning and ending also, you began enjoying what is to be expected? this enjoyment is going to end but you begin enjoying and you keep enjoying and keep enjoying and keep enjoying all the time only enjoying this only possible, when we are beyond this happiness-distress, day-night and like that hell-heaven, victory-defeat, loss-gain, KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS is beyond. Krishna is beyond Krishna consciousness is beyond its an eternal happiness, constant happiness, happiness forever, no beginning no end it is beyond this, that is why Krishna says “dvandvatito vimatsarah” (B.G 4.22) advised to Arjun ‘dvandvatit’, Arjun go beyond keep going go higher go beyond go beyond ‘dvandvatit’ go beyond this happiness-distress, beginning-ending, hell-heaven like that man-women, local and-westerner.

So we were talking about karmakanda this jnanakanda materialistic people are certainly less intelligent but even so called religious people they take to religion but they take to karmakanda demigod worship and they go all the way upto heaven which is close to Vaikuntha, Vaikunth is closer from heaven but then they fall down again. So this is not very intelligent thing to do those practices, those religious practices, karmakanda but then this jnanakanda is also advaitvad. So the Lord has addressed them or described them also as less intelligent. “avyakta vyakti mapanam manyate mam abuddhaya” the impersonalists mayavadis advaitvadis the practitioners of jnanakanda so much into jnana, but their jnana is in fact ajnana, their knowledge is ignorance, they yet do not have the complete picture. So they manyate they think they consider, Krishna says they only consider, what all they consider that “avyakta vyakti mapanam” – the God is infact ‘avyakta’- unmanifest. He is all-pervading, He is bright effulgence brahmajyoti, He is Brahma avyakta, but then they think from this avyakta brahma effulgence, sometimes they had this photographs also, the pictures we get to see. They says ‘om…….’ this is in the background somewhere ‘om……..’ this person who is now playing flute what is his origin ‘om…….’ some impersonal avyakta unmanifest, he is playing flute. “manyate mam abuddhaya” the less intelligent, again talking about less intelligent, think that way ultimately ‘I am what I am’ (Laughter) alright I am all pervading Brahman and then occasionally I take a form.

“avajananti mam mudha manusim tanum asritam” ( B.G 9.11)
Krishna says they are fools rascals they think this way that I take form and that form is not an eternal form but that form is temporary that form is there now but soon it will merge back again into its original existence. So it is jnanakanda and that is also described as “mama abuddhaya” less intelligent people think like this. So the materialist’s pure unalloyed materialists they are certainly less intelligent the karmakanda practitioners are less intelligent they want to go to heaven and even impersonalists are less intelligent.

Intelligent party is “jnanavan mam prapadyate” (B.G 7.19) the person who is truly in knowledge, knowledgeable ‘mam prapadyate” they surrender unto me they come to me and so that’s a vaishnav, the devotee of Krishna. So one should be using intelligence to understand things as they are or to understand Bhagvat gita as it is, understand Krishna the Personality of Godhead as He is. There is Brahma, there is Paramatma and there is also Bhagvan. And Bhagvan the Personality of Godhead with all opulence’s He is source of Paramatma, He is the source of Brahmajyoti, Brahma effulgence. So understanding these things is sign of intelligence.

So we will complete the purport: By intelligence only one can understand whether or not he is the body, the study to determine whether ones identity is spiritual or material begins in doubt. Question about ‘AM I THIS BODY?’ this is a question, a doubt ‘am I this body’. When one is able to analyse his actual position the false identification of the body is detected. So when you have the power of discrimination because you have a proper intelligence, fully evolved intelligence with that you are analysing and you understand this is body and this is spirit.

With the help of intelligence you could understand, discrimination between body and the soul this is ‘viparyasa’ this is a Sanskrit term when false identification is detected then real identification can be understood, right? That’s what we call ‘naiti naiti ..not this not this not this not this’ oh! This one, this is analytical study it’s called Sankhya yoga. This is matter, this is matter, matter, this is sprit, this is demigod, this is demigod, this is demigod, this is Supreme Personality of Godhead. Real understanding is described here as niscayah, today’s verse talks of niscayah or proved experimental knowledge is niscayah. You have come to conclusion niscayah. This experimental knowledge can be achieved when one has understood the false knowledge. So false knowledge and real knowledge, Isopanishad also says you should be well verse with avidya and vidya. You should know maya in order to know Krishna also, this is maya, this is maya, this is maya and this is Krishna.

So when we understand Krishna we also understand maya or when we understand maya, then we go for Krishna. So this is complete knowledge, knowledge of vidya, knowledge of knowledge and knowledge of ignorance, you know what ignorance is and then you are knowledgeable person. You know what ignorance is, what knowledge is. This experimental knowledge can be achieved when one has understood the false knowledge. By experimental or proved knowledge, one can understand that he is not the body but spirit soul.

Smrti means “memory,” and svapa means “sleep.” these are the words or terms from this verse svapa and smrti are there, sleep is also necessary to keep intelligence in working order. That’s why Krishna says one who sleeps too much or too little cannot be yogi. Yogis are intelligent you have to be intelligent or sleep has a role to play to keep your intelligence sharp when you have not slept properly or enough then your brain doesn’t function you go crazy infact, you do not sleep, night after night, after night, night you don’t sleep, you cannot function and materially. So as sadhakas practitioners of Krishna consciousness they have to get a proper sleep but too much sleep is cultivating ignorance sleeping means ignorance, you are ignoring God, you are ignoring Krishna. He exists but you are just ignoring, there are so many ways by which you just ignore him. Sometimes people say he just ignored me you know, ignored me, we were in the same party…he just ignored me, just ignores me, he doesn’t pay any attention to me, he doesn’t approached me, didn’t say hello to me, didn’t shake hand with me, he just ignored. You understand the meaning of ignorance.. As if I don’t exist, he just ignored me.

So those who are ignorant basically what they are ignoring, they are ignoring the Lord, they are ignorant of the Lord, they are ignorant of the existence of the Lord. From that ignorance one becomes ignorant. So sleep is what? Its state of ignorance, you are ignoring the Lord. Six Goswamis of Vindavana, they would hardly sleep ignoring the Lord, sleep is ignorance of Lord, how could I just ignore him, want to be conscious of Lord, I want to be Krishna conscious, conscious of the Lord, if I would just sleep I will be ignoring him. So they would just keep staying awake “kaupina-kanthasritau” (Sri Sri Sad-goswami-astaka) wearing just most minimum clothes kaupina loin cloth, kantha – some tattered quilt it’s translated as tattered, some kaupina loin cloth, bodily maintenance is over, don’t have to go for shopping those shirts made in England tailored and matching, so much thought is gone into this business. Dead body and the decoration of the dead body.

So so much human resources are invested in this business and solidifying the existence of this body. O! I am this body, I am this body, I am this body and the decoration of the body take photograph, take photograph (laughter). Okay my family members, family photo, it’s my family. So the six Goswamis of Vrindavan, infact they were the big personalities they were ministers in Hussein Saha’s kingdom but as they came in contact with Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, they had very little association at Ramkeli. One time Chaitanya Mahaprabhu went out of his way infact to give association to Rupa and Sanatana and Vallabha also they were three brothers and Jiva goswami was small child that time.

This Rupa and Sanatana, they were big ministers and they just spent just little time “sadhu-sanga, sadhu-sanga—sarva-sastre kaya / lava-matra sadhu-sange sarva-siddhi haya”. Lord has gone there as Sadhu as a devotee and little association and sidhi and there is perfection. “lava-matra sadhu-sange sarva-siddhi haya” these great souls Rupa and Sanatana “tyaktva turnam asesa-mandala-pati-srenim sada tuccha-vat” quickly-‘tyaktva’ they rejected, abandon, kicked, speedily-‘turnam’, ‘asesa-mandala-pati’ their wealth, they were aristocratic they had palace and tons of gold coins those were not papers bills (Laughter) not much value, real gold coins big piles. “tyaktva turnam asesa-mandala-pati-srenim sada tuccha-vat” ‘thuu…’ they spit at all that and joined Krishna consciousness instantaneously, joined Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s mission.

And then they were “bhutva dina-ganesakau karunaya” and then they were protecting, they became protectors ‘bhutva dina-gana’ dina-gana- poor people, poor in consciousness, there is poverty of consciousness, they are lacking consciousness, the whole world is poor, poor are poor and rich are also very poor. So those who were dina, dina-gana, they became masters or protectors of these fallen people, poor in consciousness, Karunaya out of their kindness or their mercy, they were being merciful to all the people. But for their livelihood “kaupina-kanthasritau” they were big-big ministers prime ministers but gave up everything and “kaupina-kanthasritau” and what about their thoughts or consciousness, they had Gopibhava their consciousness is like gopi. “gopi-bhava-rasamrtabdhi-lahari-kallola-magnau muhur” the nectar how much? Abdhi- ocean, full of nectar of Gopibhava, gopi like consciousness, gopi like thoughts, ocean full of thoughts broad-minded, big-hearted and ‘magnau’ – they became absorbed in these thoughts ‘muhur’ – all the times.

“vande rupa-sanatanau raghu-yugau sri-jiva-gopalakau” we offer our obeisance’s unto these six Goswamis of Vrindavana ,Rupa Goswami, Sanatana Goswami, Gopal Bhatta Goswami, Raghunath das, Raghunath Bhatta and Jiva Goswami. So this consciousness of thoughts of devotees of the Lord and then there is no bodily concept, sleeping is wasting of time why should I sleep. They had to be forced please please take some rest and for us please get up! (Laughter) 12 hours its 9:30, please get up you much be hungry atleast to eat, get up and eat again and sleep again (Laughter).

As if a Kumbhakarna program he used to get up one when he was hungry he used to get up and when his belly is full, he is sleeping again. Two programs eating and sleeping. And they would eat to sleep, eat and sleep. Some people eat to live and some people just live to eat. Things are also there some people just eat so that they could just survive, to keep the body and soul together, they would eat. Some sleep, sleep is also necessary, to keep your intelligence sharp. We cannot imitate six goswamis practically they were not bodies; they were acting like souls, like all the souls in the spiritual sky. And infact they were those kinds of spiritual souls, manjaris and gopis they were. If there is no sleep the brain cannot work nicely. In Bhagvat Gita it is specially mentioned that the person who regulates eating, sleeping and other necessities of the body in the proper proportion becomes very successful in yoga practices, yoga process. These are the some of the aspects of the analytical study of intelligence as described in both the Patanjali yoga system and the Sankhya yoga system of Kapildev in Srimad Bhagvatam. Any question?

Question: If mind is defeating intelligence what to do?
Answer: Practice makes man perfect women also (laughter) if mind is defeating intelligence that means we are not practiced enough. Failure is pillar of success, so you can review this situation, may be you were defeated but not as badly as before you almost won but last moment you were fall flat. So like that every time Krishna says ‘abhyasena tu kaunteya vairagyena ca grihyate’ (B.G 6.35) vairagya –cultivate detachment and practice try to get rid of this, get rid of this never give up don’t give it up. Pray to the Lord for strength, my mother also used to pray. So you are intelligent but not sharp so you can sharpen the tool, take some time to sharpen the tool. Then Lord also “dadami buddhi-yogam tam yena mam upayanti te” (B.G 10.10) He says I give the understanding by which they can come to Me.

Brahma-jijnasa is the real concern of human life

Venue: Mauritius
“evam vidho brahmacari vanaprastho yatir grhi
caran vidita-vijnanah param brahmadhigacchati” (S.B 7.12.16)

Translation and purport by Srila Prabhupada, Srila Prabhupada ki……..jai

Translation:
By practicing in this way, whether one be in the brahmacari-asrama, grhastha-asrama, vanaprastha-asrama or sannyasa-asrama, one must always realize the all-pervading presence of the Supreme Lord, for in this way it is possible to understand the Absolute Truth.

Purport:

This is the beginning of self-realization. One must first understand how Brahman is present everywhere and how He is acting. This education is called brahma-jijnasa and is the real concern of human life. Without such knowledge, one cannot claim to be a human being; rather, he remains in the animal kingdom. As it is said, sa eva go-kharah: without such knowledge, one is no better than a cow or an ass.
The person may be in brahmacari-asrama, grhastha-asrama, vanaprastha-asrama or sannyasa-asrama, each varna – each ashram there are some different prescribed duties. For Brahmanas studying- teaching, then kshatriya “kshatat trayate iti kshatriya” ‘kshat’ is getting wounded or hurt, so kshatriya is a person who protects others or citizen from getting hurt. The citizens are fighting amongst each other for nothing, so he intervenes he has his force in place to make sure that there is no fighting, unnecessary there is no killing, no quarrel. It’s said if someone is using knife, he has killed the person, wounded the person so that the wound gets healed it gets cured finished.

But someone’s tongue very sharp like a razor not able to control then he hurts someone by talking in insulting way, then there is a wound in the mind. Person gets wounded gets hurt, like Dhruva Maharaj was hurt. His step mother Suruchi had to say something ‘oh! You wish to be the prince it’s too late baba, you have not taken birth in my womb forget the throne’. So that was a big insult for Dhruva Maharaj and Prabhupada says specially kshatriyas they can’t tolerate such insults.
So Dhruva Maharaj being son of kshatriya he took this very seriously, the mother was trying to pacify put some little bandage on his wound caused by step mother of Dhruva Maharaj. She could not see as he was deeply hurt, wounded just by the words, words are sharper. The other kind of wound gets healed wound caused by knife or gun this is not the point, the point is duty of kshatriya and being kshatriya he protects others and citizens from getting hurt getting wounded. He maintains law and order these are the prescribed duties of kshatriya.

And then next is Vaisya “Krishi goraksha vanijyam” krishi – he does farming, (Maharaj says) lot of farms in Mauritius. Srila Prabhupada where he would goes to Australia, to America he saw so much land just lying vacant, why not use it to grow some food but ofcourse people are not interested they rather work in industry in factory.
So “Krishi goraksha vanijyam” such a nice duty, do farming, take care of cows, a little trade some extra grains share with others get something in return. So these prescribed duties of different members of different varnas and then there are ashrams. Brahmacari what does brahmacari do? He studies; brahmacaris primary business is he is a student under a teacher he is learning he is studying. Lord Krishna also studied at Sandipani Muni’s ashram.
“brahmacari guru-kule vasan danto guror hitam” (S.B 7.12.1) brahmacari goes to ashram of a Guru, he stays there ‘dasavat’ – like a menial servant he resides there, ‘nico’- in a very humble way he stays, Krishna stayed very humbly He was sitting on the floor, He was going to do madhukari in morning. So Brahmacari has to do such thing he is studying and ‘vasan danto guror hitam’- for the benefit of Guru, for service of Guru, for pleasure of Guru he is functioning.

Srila Prabhupada even adds, once Krishna was told by Guru’s patni ‘hye! Go get some wood fire wood, I have to cook for the boys in the ashram there is no fire wood’. So Krishna and Sudama had to go to get fire wood they had to go to the forest. So this is all ‘guror hitam’ so that’s the duty of brahmacari.

Then grhasta mainly grhastas are doing ‘dana’ – charity he is householder, he is also money holder. Brahmacari has no money, vanaprashta may carry some thing and he may also depend on the mercy of the Lord as he travels. He is taking care of his family, dependents but not just bodily maintenance soul maintenance he is also maintaining soul. What is the difference? Prabhupada is pointing that out – animal kingdom, ‘without such knowledge, one cannot claim to be a human being; rather, he remains in the animal kingdom’. If person does not belong to any varna or any ashram, why you are not ready for sannyasa? Go for grahasta ashram. You don’t belong to grhasta ashram by staying in griha just because you have house, wife, children that does not become a ashram. You may be grhasta but not in grhasta ashram there is a difference. The difference that we know we have heard the grhamedhi ‘yan maithunadi- grhamedhi-sukham hi tuccham’ all that you are enjoying is tuccha- it is very low, something that you spit at thuu… ‘grhamedhi sukham hi tuccham’ so grhamedhi is that person who is addicted to sex life.

So Prabhupada is talking without such knowledge…, this is the beginning of self-realization. One must first understand how Brahman is present everywhere and how He is acting. This education is called brahma-jijnasa and is the real concern of human life. Without such knowledge, one cannot claim to be a human being.

So take care of family fine but you have to first know who your family is? Who your wife is? Who your child is? Do you know? (Maharaj is asking) who is your wife? It’s difficult to understand how soul could be your wife. The real person is the soul if the soul leaves the body then that body is no more your wife, immediately ‘hye ! Get her out’ cause the body starts smelling so bad, right? So as soon as soul leaves the body it’s useless you burn the body then you realize then you cry ‘oh! My wife she has gone she has gone’ that’s the soul that has gone.

Krishna Balaram ki…………..jai .

Mediate on the Lord Giriraj, Lord holding Giriraj on His little finger

Venue: Braj Mandal Parikrama
Occasion: Govardhan puja
Dated: 2008

“hantayam adrir abala hari-dasa-varyo
yad rama-krsna-carana-sparasa-pramodah
manam tanoti saha-go-ganayos tayor yat
paniya-suyavasa-kandara-kandamulaih”
(S.B 10.21.18)

These are the words of Gopis of Vrindavan glorifying Giriraj, Gopis are saying – we are very unfortunate we have no association of Krishna, but look at this Giriraj ‘rama krishna carana sparasa pramodah’ see how happy, how jubilant is Giriraj, don’t you see? See Giriraj is so happy. Yes yes he is very happy we are unhappy but He is happy. Why Giriraj is so happy? ‘ram krishna carana sparasa’ this Giriraj gets the touch of the lotus feet of both Krishna and Balarama. As soon as Krishna and Balarama touches Giriraj with their lotus feet’s Giriraj feels very much excited, ecstatic and expresses all the joy. (Maharaj says) In that context as Maharaja (His Holiness Radha Raman Maharaj) mentioned Giriraj as Haridasavarya- best of the Haridasas.

So that is His devotee position, Giriraj in position of a devotee. Then during that first ever Giriraj puja, first day of this puja and they are making big big offerings- annakuta mahotsava. And that time Lord Giriraj was on the top of the mountain and Lord Giriraj manifested and said ‘sailo smi’ – I am this mountain Lord declared ‘I am this mountain’. That time our little Krishna seven years old He was in the crowd, all the Braj vasis had assembled and Krishna was also in the audience and He also was getting ready to worship Giriraj.

So one Lord Krishna was among the Braj vasis amongst them and one Krishna Giriraj was on the top of the mountain declaring ‘I am here, I am the Lord Giriraj bring more bring more bring more offerings’. Giriraj was eating He was 16 miles tall that’s Lord, 16 miles tall Lord Giriraj Govardhan, He must have big belly and he was asking for more offerings bring more- anyor anyor. Lord had so many hands and He was reaching out khir in one kunda and then He was reaching another kunda, some puris thousands of puris He had in His one hand. He was emptying kundas after kundas, piles of halva and puris and then malpuha and what else?. So He proved He was the Lord Giriraj, only Lord could eat that much, just by seeing how much He was eating you will have to simply admit, Oh! He must be the Lord, Jai Giriraj.

When He had finished they say He had to clean His teeth the brush or tooth pick, you know tooth pick? So He was using whole bamboos long, tall bamboos and He was feeling satisfied. So Jai Giriraj, we have opportunity to also its cause less mercy of the Lord that we are here in this human form we are in Vrindavan on the day of Govardhan puja and we are doing what residents of Vrindavan did more than 5000 years ago that is worshipping Giriraj. May Lord ‘ashesha klesha nashaya’ this morning we were praying – He is the destroyer of unlimited sufferings of all of us. ‘paramananda dayine’ –He gives unlimited ananda. Are you interested in having ananda, having some happiness bless? Anyone interested? Not many people are interested? Some are still thinking they are following on the footsteps of Kunti Devi ‘vipada santu tah sasvat” (S.B 1.8. 25).

You can get happiness by worshipping Krishna in the form of Giriraj. Govardhan’s position in Vrindavan is at the top, top level superior to all the forest of Vrindavan is Giriaj. And that little Lord seven years old, He did a miracle everyone was amazed as He lifted Giriraj. So may we always mediate on the Lord Giriraj, Lord holding Giriraj on His little finger. That way Lord has honored Giriraj by holding him on His finger and Giriraj became the cause of reunion between Lord and all residents of Vrindavan for seven days and seven nights. So may Giriraj also bring us closer to the Lord unite us with the Lord. So you may always worship Giriraj and surrender unto Giriraj. ‘sarva dharman parityaja mam ekam sarnam vraj’ – give up all varieties of religion worshipping Demigods this that so many varieties just surrender unto me that is also what is to be understood from this puja.

Those who do parikrama of Govardhan they make little homes on the parikrama path using some of those rocks or shilas of Giriraj they make little home and they stand before that home newly built little home and they pray. You may like to pray also? The pray is ‘My dear Lord whenever I am finished with my body with my material existence let my soul run rush to Vrindavan, may you Giriraj give me residence just at your foot hills’. May Lord Giriraj Haridasvarya fulfill all your desires and give you pramananda. Jai Giriraj dharan ki…..Jai.

So the last place that Srila Prabhupada when he was ill during this month, Srila Prabhupada wanted to come to Govardhan on this day of Govardhan puja day. This shows our founder acharya’s meditation on Giriraj and his attachment to Giriraj he was lying in the bed but he was thinking I would like to go to Govardhan and take part in Giriraj Govardhan puja at Govardhan.

Jai Srila Prabhupada ki….jai
Giriraj Govardhan ki……….Jai
Vrindavan dham ki……………Jai
Nitai Gaur Premanande..Hari Haribol

“svayambhur naradah sambhuh kumarah kapilo manuh

visuddham durbodham yam jnatvamrtam asnute” (S.B. 6.3.20-21)

So after Yamaraja has mentioned ‘dharmam hi saksad bhagavat-pranitam’ that religious principles are enacted by Supreme personality of Godhead and no one else. Now here in he is informing his Bhatah, my dear servants, bhatah. Please understand that this Dharma ‘dharmam hi bhagavat-pranitam’ Dharma given by the Lord, enacted by the Lord is understood by twelve people. Fully well they understand and they are their names have been given here. They are also popularly known as Dwadash- Bhagvatas. We normally use Bhagvata, Mahabhagvata,Bhagvata. Our Prabhupada always say ‘nityam bhagavata sevaya’ so rendering service not only to the Bhagvatam (scripture Bhagvatam) but also to person Bhagvatam. Book bhagvata and person bhagvata, Srila Prabhupad made that distinction or two meanings of Bhagavata : Person bhagvata, book bhagvata.

So here are the person bhagvatas. They are twelve so they are called ‘Dwadash’ Ekadash means elevan ‘dash’ means ten. Trayodash, Chaturdash, Panchami, Panchadash, Shodash, Saptadash, Ashtadash like that. So they are twelve of them. ‘svayambhur’, ‘svayambhuh’ bhuh means to become, svayambhuh he just became, just came into existence that’s Brahma. It was just Lord no one else and he was born. ‘svayambhuh’ that is Brahma. ‘naradah’ the world preacher, leading preacher in this word is ‘Narada’. Narayan, Narayan who always chant the name of Narayan or he always chant ‘Radhika-raman-namne narada muni bajay vina, Radhika-raman-namne’ so that Naradah. Sambhuh that is Shiva ‘ Vaishnavanam yatha sambhuh’ kumarah four Kumaras (Sanak, Sanatan, Sanat, Sanand) all the four Kumaras. ‘kapilah’ Kapila dev one who profounder of the Sankhya philosophy. ‘manuh’ they are from manuh comes manushya manus these are the rulers. Manusamhita the guideline to be followed by human race comes from them. Manvantar they are also considered ‘avataras’ incarnations manvantara-avatar. They are fourteen of them in one day of Brahma. About 72 cycles of four ages they rule this universe.

‘prahladah’ prahlad alhad dayine ‘Prahlad’ alhad means pleasure, alhad dayine in order to give alhad pleasure to Prahlad Lord appears as Narsimha. Prahlad, ‘bhismah’ the grandfather. Bhisma horrible! How could you do this! Demigods exclaimed it. You are a prince and you are taking vow of not marrying. What would happen to the dynasty? It would discontinued this is very horrible thing. They did not say this in English (laughter). They just said Bhisma meaning horrible, how could you do this! Hence his name became Bhisma. Otherwise his name was? Devatat. He was Devatat son of Ganga and Shantanu, so that Bhisma. Bali Maharaj ‘atmanivedanam’ he is known for surrendering everything to the Lord. Hey! Hey!! Don’t do this! said Shukracharya. He is asking for three steps of Land but you don’t know who he is. He will take everything away from you. So don’t make such proposal, this proposal. Shukracharya was advising his disciple Bali Maharaj. Bali Maharaj he was ready to give up such a Spiritual Master. Anything that is unfavorable to be rejected he was ready to reject. And he surrendered everything so the ‘atmanivedanam’ he became famous for surrendering everything. ‘balir vaiyasakim’ vaiyasaki that is Sukadeva Goswami, son of Vyasadeva ‘vaiyasakih’. He is also authority; he is first one to speak bhagvatam publicly. The father Srila Vyasadeva compiled the bhagvatam. The son Sukadeva Goswami became the first reciter, public-presenter of this bhagvatam.’vaiyasakih vayam’ us, twelve of us. So who is the twelfth one? He only said eleven names and yes so humble. If it was me I would have mentioned my name first and then other eleven names that is he doesn’t even mentioned his name, he just mentioned other eleven names. And he said us, so us twelve. I am also on the list, twelve of us ‘dvadasaite vijanimo’ we know dharmam bhagvatam this bhagvat dharma.

Throughout these three chapters of the sixth canto that we have been studying. Dharma is addressed as Bhagvat dharma. Bhagvatam dharmam, bhagvatam dharmam several times. So you want to give name to dharma that is bhagvat-dharma. This ‘bhagavatam dharmam vijanimah’ we know bhatah, oh! dear servants, my dutas please understand this. ‘guhyam visuddham durbodham yam jnatvamrtam asnute’ so anyone who understands or by understanding this bhavatam dharmam which is guhyam confidential, visuddham pure transcedental, durbodham not that easy to understand. But once it is understood ‘amrtam asnute’ one becomes eternal, eternally liberated. For him no more death and eternal life he attains. And in the purport Srila Prabhupada is writing in four Sampradayas the knowledge has to be understood in Parampara so these twelve persons they know Bhagvatam. And this bhagvatam is presented or the spiritual knowledge is presented the authorized paramparas lines of disciplic succession. There are four lines of disciplic succession: one from Brahma which is known as Brahma sampradaya, one from Shiva that is Rudra sampradaya, one from Laksmi that is Sri sampradaya and from four Kumaras is Kumara sampradaya. One must take shelter of one of these four sampradayas in order to understand the most confidential religious system. In the Padma Purana it is said, ‘sampradaya-vihina ye mantras te nisphala matah’ if one does not follow the four recognized disciplic successions, his mantra or initiation is useless. In the present day there are many apasampradayas, apasampradaya it is not sampradaya not authorized or sampradayas which are not bona fide, which have no link to authorities like Lord Brahma, Lord Siva, the Kumaras or Laksmi. People are misguided by such sampradayas. The sastras say that being initiated in such a sampradaya is a useless waste of time, for it will never enable one to understand the real religious principles.

Text 22
“etavan eva loke smin pumsam dharmah parah smrtah
bhakti-yogo bhagavati tan-nama-grahanadibhih” (S.B. 6.3.22)

etavan-t his much, eva loke smin- so they know the stated bhagvatam dharmam, ‘dharmam hi bhagavat-pranitam’ ‘dharmam hi bhagavat’ What? ‘dharmam hi bhagavat’, so now one word is. So Dharma is now been stated ‘dharmam hi bhagavat?’ You don’t know? OK. ‘dharmam hi saksad (1 bhagavat-pranitam’ OK. Confusing! Now it is straight ‘dharmam hi saksad bhagavat-pranitam’. So Dahramam mentioned there, then mentioned these are the twelve personalities they know this dharma. And now Yamaraja is mentioning, so what is this Dharma? That Lord has created, Lord has enacted. And these twelve people know dharma. So which one is it? What is it? So ‘loke smin pumsam dharmah parah smrtah’ the topmost religion the best of all religions is Bhakti-yoga, performance of devotional service unto ‘bhagavati’ unto the personality of Godhead. Hmm! then only it is. Bhakti-yoga is not for any demigod or for any human being. Bhakti-yoga bhakti of ‘bhagavati’ bhakti of Supreme Personality of Godhead. Then it is Dharma, that is topmost dharma ‘parah dharmah’ and again to be more specific Yamaraj says ‘tan-nama-grahanadibhih’ specially to chant His holy name is the Dharam, is the Principle of Dharma.

Devotional service beginning with the chanting of holy name of the Lord is the ultimate religious principle for the living entity in human society. Dharmam bhagvatam, real religious principles are Bhagvat dharma. The principles prescribed in Srimad Bhagvatam itself or Bhagvad Gita. The Preliminary study of Bhagvatam, Bhagvad-Gita Prabhupad describing that as Preliminary study of Bhagvatam. So it’s part of, they are together, two together, one preliminary introductory study and then the main scripture Bhagvatam. ‘sa vai pumsam paro dharmo yato bhaktir adhoksaje'(S.B. 1.2.6) so in the beginning of Bhagvatam also this dharma has been described as ‘sa vai pumsam paro dharmo’ dharma is parodharam. What is parodharma? What is the topmost dharma? ‘bhaktir adhoksaje’ here the word ‘bhagavati’ has been used ‘bhakti-yogo bhagavati’ this verse says which Yamaraja has said and earlier in Bhagvatam the parodharma, topmost dharma, ultimate dharma was described as ‘yato bhaktir adhoksaje’. So Adhoksaje and bhagavati is the same thing. Adhoksaje- transcendental, Adhoksaje. And then Prabhupada is quoting such a religious system begins with tan-nama-grahana, chanting of the holy name but there are other processes ‘sravanam kirtanam visnoh smaranam pada-sevanam arcanam vandanam dasyam sakhyam atma-nivedanam’. So this is navvidha, nine processes of devotional service. After chanting the holy name of the Lord and dancing in ecstasy, one gradually sees the form of the Lord, the pastimes of the Lord and the transcendental qualities of the Lord. This way one fully understands the situation of the Personality of Godhead, OK! Next verse.

“namoccarana-mahatmyam hareh pasyata putrakah
ajamilo pi yenaiva mrtyu-pasad amucyata” (S.B. 6.3.23)

Yes, he said ‘dharmam hi saksad bhagavat-pranitam’ dharmam is enacted by the Supreme Personality of Godhead and then these are the twelve people, they know dharam. Then he says, the Supreme dharma is ‘bhakti-yogo bhagavati’. Devotional service unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead and specially chanting is Dharma ‘namagrahna’. And after stating that much ‘tan-nama-grahanadibhih’ Yamaraj says, ‘namoccarana-mahatmyam hareh pasyata’ just see! Just see!! The greatness the Mahatmya, the significance of namoccarana, utterance of the holy name. Now you understand ‘putrakah’ my dear children. He is addressing Yamadutas as Putrakah, my children. Children mean just small boys, newly born or not you don’t know too much. You are just children! You are just children, so you should take note of the glories of Holy name of Hari. ‘pasyata’ do you see now? And you were shown this in fact ‘ajamilo pi yenaiva mrtyu-pasad amucyata’ and that’s the reason. Now you should understand Ajamila was amucyata, was liberated, mrtyu-pasad you went there with the ropes in your hands. You have tied him, you are dragging him. But that’s the time he performed best of all the Dharmas. He chanted the holy name of the Lord and that’s it, he was liberated. Do you know see the glories the potency of holy name? ‘namoccarana-mahatmyam pasyata putrakah’ just see my boys. Understand, take note of this. There is no need to conduct research into the significance of the chanting of the Hare Krishna mahamantra, Prabhupada writes. There is no need to conduct any research, no. The history of Ajamila is sufficient proof of the power of the Lord’s holy name and the exalted position of a person who chants the holy name incessantly. And same thing has been stated. That song ‘dina-hina jata chilo, hari-name uddharilo, tara sakshi jagai madhai , tara sakshi jagai madhai’. Dina-hina, dina- they were poor, hina- their consciousness has been fallen, condemned as they were ‘dina-hina jata chilo, hari-name uddharilo’ Harinaam can uddhar, can elevate lift the people.

By hearing this statement you may ask what is a proof? Can you prove it? And the song says, its by Narottam Das Thakur that ‘tara sakshi’ the example, the witness, the proof is Jagai Madhai. Life of Jagai and Madhai. The way Jagai and Madhai were liberated, rescued. And eventually they became great Vaishnav devotees of the Lord. So these Jagai and Madhai is proof. And so that is five hundred years ago, much older history. Ajamila is yet another proof and do you know any other proof? Mrigaari-the hunter, ‘Mriga-ari’ he was enemy of the animals. You should not say ‘Mrig-hari’, some devotees say ‘Mrig-hari’. No! ‘Mrig-ari’. Ari means demon. Mrigaari is the example. Any other? Valmiki. Why going that far? Who? Prostitute who came to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Yes! Anyone else? There are thousands. If you want proof there are thousands proofs. We are just saying here is one from Ramayan times, here is another one from satyayug, another one from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and another one. But then Srila Prabhupad’s times initiated five thousands disciples that was a proof. Then so many others thousands and thousands. So it’s not the thing of just past but during present times a first-hand experience of all of us the changes the revolution that has taken place in our consciousness with us. We have taken a U-turn, hundred eighty degrees it is said. This is because of ‘harer nama harer nama harer namaiva kevalam kalau nasty eva nasty eva nasty eva gatir anyatha’ Srila Prabhupada is quoting the verse in the purport.

“etavatalam agha-nirharanaya pumsam sankirtanam bhagavato guna-karma-namnam
vikrusya putram aghavan yad ajamilo pi narayaneti mriyamana iyaya muktim” (S.B. 6.3.24)

And the Yamaraja says, ‘alam’ bas! That’s enough! That’s sufficient. The chanting of the holy name of the Lord is ‘alam’ is just sufficient for ‘aghaagha-nirharanaya pumsam’ ahga means sins nirharanaya means making people sinless sinful people becoming sinless. This is possible just by ‘sankirtanam bhagavato guna-karma-namnam’ by Sankirtana chanting the glories of the, the qualities and activities of the Lord. This is just enough ‘alam’! ‘vikrusya putram aghavan yad ajamilo pi ‘ and we saw you have seen that as that Ajamila cried out saying the name ‘narayanaeti’ ‘mriyamana’ as he was about to leave his body and his said Narayana, when he was such as sinful person ‘aghavan yad ajamilo pi’ in spite of his beings sinful, just by Chanting the name Narayan, ‘iyaya muktim’ he attained liberation. So conclusion is ‘alam’ Harinaam is sufficient. Purport Prabhupada writes, the word alam, which is used in this verse, indicates that simply uttering the holy name of the Lord is sufficient. Sridhara Swami also quotes from the Puranas, ‘papa-ksayas ca bhavati smaratam tam ahar-nisam’ papa-ksayam means you become free from sin- Papa is exhausted finished by smarnam by remembrance ‘tam’ that Lord ‘ahar-nisam’day and night. ‘Kirtaniya sada hari’ you do when you become attained this ‘papa-ksaya’. ‘punya-ksaya’ when you are free from Punya or not free. Yaa then what happens? ‘kshine punye martya-lokam visanti’ (B.G 9.21) Kshay that is same thing. Diksha ‘ksh’ is there, when you take diksha ‘divyam gyanam dadati’ when you receive transcendental knowledge by spiritual master that is ‘di’ and what is? What happened with ‘kshay’ all your sins are finished. ‘Diksha’ spiritual master gives you the knowledge ‘cakhu-dan dilo jei, janme janme prabhu sei, divya-jnan hrde prokasito’ that thing. ‘cakhu-dan dilo’ and ‘divya-jnan hrde prokasito’ that divya-jnan. One achieves ‘divya-jnan ‘ so that ‘kshay’ is there.

‘sayam pratar grnan bhaktya duhkha-gramad vimucyate’ Sridhara Svami is quoting that ‘sayam pratar’ sayam evening time pratah morning time, morning-evening ‘grnan’ one who is uttering with devotion the name of the Lord ‘duhkha-gramad vimucyate’ that person become free from ‘dukha-gram’. Gram means aggregate, collection, accumulation. ‘duhkha-gramad vimucyate’. It is concluded, Srila Prabhupada further writes, It is to be concluded that with a strong vow one should chant the holy name of the Lord — “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare”— for thus one will certainly be delivered from the clutches of maya by the grace of Krishna. Then Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura his quote also has been included by Srila Prabhupada here ‘namaparadha-yuktanam namany eva haranty agham’ if you have committed so much sin before chanting and even after chanting your chanting is still offensive. So what to do? He says, ‘namany eva haranty agham’ the name only will chanting of the name only will make you free from offences. No that, you know chanting is becoming offensive now, offensive now, I am thinking now not chanting because my chanting is offensive. I am committing lot of offences so I better stop? It’s a go

Krishna is cause of all causes and source of all knowledge

yena sva-rocisa visvam rocitam rocayamy aham
yatharko agnir yatha somo yatharksa-graha-tarakah” (S.B 2.5.11)
Translation:

I create after the Lord’s creation by His personal effulgence [known as the brahmajyoti], just as when the sun manifests its fire, the moon, the firmament, the influential planets and the twinkling stars also manifest their brightness.
Purport:
Lord Brahmaji said to Narada that his impression that Brahma was not the supreme authority in the creation was correct. Sometimes less intelligent men have the foolish impression that Brahma is the cause of all causes. But Narada wanted to clear the matter by the statements of Brahmaji, the supreme authority in the universe. As the decision of the supreme court of a state is final, similarly the judgment of Brahmaji, the supreme authority in the universe, is final in the Vedic process of acquiring knowledge. As we have already affirmed in the previous verse, Naradaji was a liberated soul; therefore, he was not one of the less intelligent men who accept a false god or gods in their own ways. He represented himself as less intelligent and yet intelligently presented a doubt to be cleared by the supreme authority so that the uninformed might take note of it and be rightly informed about the intricacies of the creation and the creator.
In this verse Brahmaji clears up the wrong impression held by the less intelligent and affirms that he creates the universal variegatedness after the creation by the glaring effulgence of Lord Sri Krsna. Brahmaji has also separately given this statement in the samhita known as the Brahma-samhita (5.40), where he says:
yasya prabha prabhavato jagad-a??a-ko?i- ko?i?v ase?a-vasudhadi-vibhuti-bhinnam
tad brahma ni?kalam anantam ase?a-bhutam govindam adi-puru?am tam aham bhajami’

“I serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead Govinda, the primeval Lord, whose transcendental bodily effulgence, known as the brahmajyoti, which is unlimited, unfathomed and all-pervasive, is the cause of the creation of unlimited numbers of planets, etc., with varieties of climates and specific conditions of life.”
The same statement is in the Bhagavad-gita (14.27). Lord Krsna is the background of the brahmajyoti (brahmano hi pratis?haham). In the Nirukti, or Vedic dictionary, the import of pratistha is mentioned as “that which establishes.” So the brahmajyoti is not independent or self-sufficient. Lord ?r? K???a is ultimately the creator of the brahmajyoti, mentioned in this verse as sva-rocisa, or the effulgence of the transcendental body of the Lord. This brahmajyoti is all-pervading, and all creation is made possible by its power; therefore the Vedic hymns declare that everything that exists is being sustained by the brahmajyoti (sarvam khalv idam brahma). Therefore the potent seed of all creation is the brahmajyoti, and the same brahmajyoti, unlimited and unfathomed, is established by the Lord. Therefore the Lord (Sri Krsna) is ultimately the supreme cause of all creation (aham sarvasya prabhava).
One should not expect the Lord to create like a blacksmith with a hammer and other instruments. The Lord creates by His potencies. He has His multifarious potencies (parasya saktir vividhaiva sruate). Just as the small seed of a banyan fruit has the potency to create a big banyan tree, the Lord disseminates all varieties of seeds by His potent brahmajyoti (sva-roci?a), and the seeds are made to develop by the watering process of persons like Brahma. Brahma cannot create the seeds, but he can manifest the seed into a tree, just as a gardener helps plants and orchards to grow by the watering process. The example cited here of the sun is very appropriate. In the material world the sun is the cause of all illumination: fire, electricity, the rays of the moon, etc. All luminaries in the sky are creations of the sun, the sun is the creation of the brahmajyoti, and the brahmajyoti is the effulgence of the Lord. Thus the ultimate cause of creation is the Lord.
Is that clear? cause of all causes is Krishna this we are understanding from another source that si Brahma, not only Krishna said that in Bhagvat gita Prabhupada has quoted that “aham sarvasya prabhava?” – I am the source of “sarvasya” – everything and Brahma says the same thing “yasya prabha prabhavato jagad-danda koti”. Krishna only says sarvasya, ‘aham’- I am, ‘sarvasya’ – of everything, what is that everything? Braham say – ‘jagad anda koti’ all those millions of universes are created ‘yasya prabha’ yasya means of Him or of whom ‘prabha’ means the effulgence, the light. “yasya prabha prabhavato jagad-danda koti” just by the effulgence so many unlimited number of universes come unto existence, unto that Personality “govindam adi-purusam tam aham bhajami”.I would like to surrender unto that person. Why do I like to surrender unto Krishna? Because look at Him, what does He do? “yasya prabha prabhavato jagad-a??a-ko?i”He is not ordinary person, very big person very powerful person. How powerful? How much powerful? ‘yasya prabha’ not even Himself but just His prabha His effulgence coming from Him, He doesn’t have to do anything with His hands and leg Prabhupada is pointing out. He doesn’t have to pick up hammer another instruments like black smith does. ‘yasya prabha prabhavato’ just the effulgence He is dancing with the Gopis all His pastimes are going on and just ‘yasya prabha’ His effulgence is ‘prabhavato’ is creating ‘jaga anda koti’ – unlimited universes are created. so I offer my obeisance’s I bow down to such person ‘govindam adi-puru?am tam aham bhajami’.
So both the statements, Krishna’s statement and Lord Brahma’s statement they coincide they make the same point no conflict. Brahma, he is acharya very honest person giving all credit due credit to the original creator. He could have said no..no….actually He just did little I do most of the thing, he could have said that but he is not saying that. He says He (Lord) does it I just do little he is giving all the credit that is the fact also, he is speaking the truth. He is acharya and he is teaching that by his own example. He is authority and we are closely connected to Brahma, we are Brahma Madhva Gaudiya vaisnavas. Our first acharya is Lord Brahma and not only he is known for his creation but he has so much knowledge, why he has so much knowledge? He heard it directly from original soul “tene brahma hrda ya adi-kavaye” (S.B 1.1.1) he was the first person to hear the knowledge so he knows everything and not only in matters of creation in spiritual matters also he is authority. When once he was approached by Saint Narada Muni, Narada Muni is a disciple and son of Brahma and he is always approaching the right authority whenever he is confused he is right there. Then Srila Vyasdev is also confused and then he goes to Narada Muni, Narada Muni goes to Brahma and Brahma goes to Krishna, they are all connected closely connected there is no reason for any confusion. If you are connected to right source of knowledge then there is no reason to be confused.
We are fortunate people to have that connection through Srila Prabhupada we have connection with Krishna and Brahma and Narada and Srila Vyasa Dev through Srila Prabhuapada there is no reason for any more confusion for us. Everything that we want to know all that is to be known we could know if we remain connected with this source of knowledge not only Krishna is cause of all causes but He is also source of all knowledge and that comes down in unbroken chain of spiritual masters and disciples.
So Brahma he also expert in everything spiritual matters also, so Narada Muni ones approached in the beginning of this Age of kali and said now the new age is about to come on the scene so what is the process? The reply was that “Hare Kishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare”.
“iti sodasakam namnam kali-kalmasa-nasanam natah parataropayah sarva-vedesu drsyate” (Kali-santarana Upanisad) I don’t see anything other process other than “iti sodasakam namnam” these 16 words “kali – kalmasa nasanam” they are meant to destroy kali kalmas all the defects of this age of kali will be smashed by these 16 words “ natah parataropayah” I don’t see anything better and I know all the Vedas, I am the first one to hear about the Vedas . So don’t go to anyone else I am the first person and just listen from me in this age of kali “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare” that’s it full stop don’t talk beyond this, this is it ready to go take it away, so that Brahma made this statement about the process for this age of kali. He also appeared 500 years ago and took part in the past time of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu not only he has again but he applied that jnana- knowledge to his own life “jnana vijnana samitam brahma karma svabhavajam” Brahma knew the process and Brahma personally applied that process to his own life, he set example. Who was that personality 500 years ago Brahma appeared as? Yes Haridas Thakur, Namachrya Haridas Thakur is none other than Brahma. And he just sat down; very tired by his activity of creation he sat down day and night he would sit and chant “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare”.
He had no time not even for prostitute he was busy chanting, stay on little more chanting, until the sun rise he kept chanting and prostitute disappeared then she comes back. So that is our acharya Brahma he not only talks but he acts all qualified all the qualities of vaisnavas are found in him, very humble does not want to take credit , all talented so his talents he is admitting it’s all Krishna, Krishna is doing.
Lord personally said to Arjuna “nimitaa matram bhava savya-sacin” (B.G 11.33) “ – “Do not think that you will be doing everything I have fought the battle” you want to see it? Ok here we go. The universal form Krishna showed how the enemies were entering into the mouth of the universal form of the Lord they are all getting burned and fire emanating from the mouth. So similarly the Lord is the actual doer, 5 factors are required for completion of many activities and principle factor major factor is Super soul without His sanction things do not happen act is not completed . So Brahma knows that and even he wants to create the ingredients – earth, water , fire , ether, air that is not his creation they already exist he is just mixing up putting some water putting this thing that thing. So we should be also admitting like that whenever we accomplish something we should see the hand of the Lord involved, independently we could never accomplish anything. If something thinks he is doing that then he is mudha “prakrteh kriyamanani gunaih karmani sarvasah ahankara vimudhatam kartaham iti manyati” (B.G 3.27) mudha means fool and vimudha means better fool, first class fool there are so many fool people so many mudhas but vimudha special fool high ranking up there such a fool ‘ahankar’ ‘karta aham manyate’ – he only thinks he only considers what does he consider? karta – doer who? aham I am the doer who thinks like this? vimudha atma- first class fool totally bewildered person thinks that he is the doer but Brahma is not vimudhatma,he is mahatma Brahma is mahatma he is not duratma, he is not vimudhatma. So he is giving all credit and it’s a fact. So talents are there in different persons experts are there but that expertise that talent is Krishna we see so many expert devotees, talented, weather its cooking, (Maharaj says about a devotee- Kurma is expert in cooking or Jamuna is expert cooking, Yamaraj is expert in photography, Mukunda Maharaj is expert in public and media relation) we have so many experts so many talented devotees in our movement.
So Krishna says “paurusam nasu” in 10th chapter “the ability in man is me” we should see that way we should see Krishna in others. Whenever someone is doing something very expertly not just average but above average, he is expert, talented person and if he is using that talent to serve Krishna we should see Krishna there, Krishna says that is me “purusam nasu”. Different things the opulence’s, Krishna is talking about His own opulence’s. Krishna manifests as different ability in different persons. So we should see Krishna there Sri Krishna, so when we some special ability in some if we do not like that, we do not worship that, appreciate that that’ s like not likening Krishna, that’s like disliking Krishna, it’s like hatred towards Krishna. Thus we are here in this material world because of our enviousness only, so whenever we some good quality we do not see Krishna there. When we do not give credit to Krishna specially we become envious of that person because Krishna has manifested in Him but this is all lack of Krishna consciousness we have no vision to see Krishna. Krishna in the form of ability in our God brothers and God sisters .We should see Krishna has manifested that will make us Krishna conscious. Just by taking note, acknowledging good qualities, abilities in others that will make us Krishna conscious, so you need to be Krishna conscious just appreciate others talents, results, services, achievements you need to be Krishna conscious. If you do not appreciate there will false competition, there will fighting, it will infiltrate if we do not see we do not we do not have the right vision, here Brahma is admitting Lord is cause of all causes, narada muni said same thing and Brahma and admitted yes that’s a fact. May be Narada muni was trying to test Brahma let me see what does he have to say and he said that’s a fact. Cause of all causes is Krishna “sarva karana karanam” is Krishna. It’s His kindness that He is using me- Brahma is saying.
